TEASER
some replies pg 125 onwards
She looked at him from below her eyelashes. Her colleague for the past two years Sujal showed no sign of softening towards her and yet she could not control the thudding in her heart everytime he passed by his cabin which was next to hers. She remembered the early days and the strain on his face she used to see. Office gossip was that his wife had divorced him and married a wealthy businessman. The lines on his face and the pain gave an indication of his state of mind. He never gave a response at all to any of the gossip even if he happened to walk into a bunch of insensitive office workers discussing it. She had felt a protective urge for him then which had blown into a full blown attraction and crush. Over the few months after that he never gave her an indication of noticing her.
Kashish knew she was a beautiful woman but she could have been the chalkboard as far as he was concerned. She had tried to speak to her Mom about her growing feelings for Sujal but she instantly dismissed the notion of having a divorced man for her daughter. Trying to crush the seed of love is not easy. Even in a climate of coldness and unwantedness it tends to grow. She tried hard to avoid him too but it was as if her senses took leave when he was around. The infighting with herself was causing her so much restlessness that she just caved. It was a one-way relationship and bound to hurt in the end but there is no way to win a war against yourself.
Things changed for her when he had been out of the office for a few minutes and Pinky had stopped by looking for him. They had clicked instantly and she had loved his sweet naughty sister, meeting her for lunch sometimes or shopping at her boutique.
Sujal was another matter however. He never came to the lunches that she shared with Pinky. The more they had started to work together, the more he distanced himself from her. She was hyper aware of everything now, being conscious that even her dupatta should not stray towards him when they worked in close proximity as it was doing so now. Even as she tugged it close to her, their eyes met.

"Kittu, my darling please!" Dev cajoled her. This boy could charm the birds from the trees, Kittu decided. "Please, please, please".
Even as he begged Kittu knew she couldn't deny his wish that she stand guard while the two couples spent time on the terrace in private. She was almost on the verge of agreeing when he sweetened the offer and made it irresistible.
"Tell you what Kitten, I will personally introduce you to my friend Mahesh babu tomorrow when he comes for the wedding! Please maan jao, my darling!"
She almost fainted at his words nodding like her head was going to fall off. Mahesh babu! She swayed in giddiness. She would stand on one toe to guard them now. Dev crushed her in a hug.

"Chotu! Please baat karo na mujh se. Dekho I am sorry, mujhe Bro ki madad nahi karni chahiye thi. Aur yeh kya baat hui? Mujhe punish kar rahi ho aur Bro ko maaf bhi kardiya?" Dev trailed after Geet. Maan instantly glared at him for getting him into trouble again but Dev avoided his glance.
"Punishment toh milegi aur dono ko milegi", Geet announced even as Maan mouthed "Baby, mujhe bhi" and tried to give his famous kissy pout.
A/N: The next part is a total indulgence on my part. This song is one of my hubby's favorites on his guitar. It is an American country music song sung by John Denver. The words are lovely and so is the emotion behind it.
You fill up my senses
like a night in the forest,
like the mountains in springtime,
like a walk in the rain,
like a storm in the desert,
like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses,
come fill me again.
Come let me love you,
let me give my life to you,
let me drown in your laughter,
let me die in your arms,
let me lay down beside you,
let me always be with you.
Come let me love you,
come love me again.
You fill up my senses
like a night in the forest,
like the mountains in springtime,
like a walk in the rain,
like a storm in the desert,
like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses,
come fill me again.
