Maan had to pick geet up. He was enjoying this life. Being in the army for so long had changed him a lot. He had seen the horrors of war. He had seen people being killed. Soldiers who are just fighting on behalf of their countries when it didn't even make sense to themselves. He had killed people. He could still see their faces at night when he closed his eyes. He had served his country and now he will do something completely different. Less risky. He will be able to give time to geet.

He parked his car outside and sat their waiting for her. He had no idea she had been through so much. She pretends that everything is perfect now, when it is far from being like that. he was amazed by how strong and courageous she is. But he knew that behind her faade, she was quite broken. Veer was aware about that too. But he was her brother. He cannot do anything more. But maan could. He could make her feel more confident. He could make her feel loved by a man. By a lover. Something she thinks is impossible. He had seen how shocked she had been when he had told her that he loved her. She wasn't expecting anyone to tell those words to her ever. He didn't care if she couldn't have sex with him like normal couples do. He was going to find ways to be able to overcome that.

Geet saw maan waiting for her in the parking place. She could see he was in deep reflection. That's why she didn't want him to go see Sahil.

Maan saw her coming. She sat in the car and smiled at him. Hey Geet. How were your classes?

Oh! It was good. Sometimes it can be so boring, but today it was fine. Are we going home or to the headquarter.

To the headquarter. Maan replied. I need to start getting into this case. Everyone has been working. I'm done settling now. By the way veer called. He's planning to come back by the end of this week itself.

Really? That was quick. He told me he would take 2 weeks. But I'm glad. I get worried when he's not here.

You ate something geet?

No, not yet.

Meera's eyes were fixed to the screen. She was trying to identify one of the guy named Milano Chez. Actually the information they gathered on him revealed that he had bought an air ticket to Delhi 7 month before. That was when all the missing cases started to get more famous. After running the face recognition software, meera was able to track down 3 locations he had visited where there were cameras present. She had been working for 5 hours nonstop.

Varun had been working with her when he decided to take a break. As usual, she told him to go on as she continued to work. But he was concerned. His head was already hurting like hell and he wondered how could she hold it together. He walked over and called her again. 'Meera, you wont find anything more. Get out of there and take a break!''

She didn't even look at him and replied 'I'm fine Varun. I just need to get it done with."

"why? Where do you have to go? You're at your job. Its still 1pm. Why are you in such a rush to get everything done right now itself. '

Meera was pissed by the time. She turned and looked at him. 'what is it with you anyways? You never asked me questions before! Why the hell have you started now? I have a life besides this job and that is none of your business. So stop. I don't know what is it you need with me?''

Varun was angry as well now. " I was concerned. After working for 5 hours my head is splitting. I thought you might need a break as well. So I apologize for coming to ask you. And I don't need anything from you!!'' He then took his jacket and went onto the terrace.

As he left, meera felt bad. What was I even thinking. Telling him off like that. I really need to stop taking my frustration out on other people. I need to apologize.

she went onto the terrace. Varun was sipping his coffee and looking outside. They were on the 13^th floor where no one was granted access. For others, it was just the warehouse of the department store. Meera went over to Varun. He didn't acknowledge her. she sighted and finally spoke. 'look! I'm sorry. I should not have talked like that."

Varun smirked. Wow, attitude while apologizing too! Looks like she doesn't do that very often.

"Varun! I'm talking to you. I said sorry. You don't need to show me your attitu..."

Meera couldn't even complete her sentence as Varun took her lips and kissed her. It was brief. Not even two seconds. She was shocked, but then she was the one who surprised him. She smirked and then grabbed his face and kissed him breathless. It was Varun's turn to get surprised. He was too surprised to respond back. He knew that this girl had a strong personality and was different. Different compared to his sister, to geet. But rite now, he didn't know what to think. When she retreated back, she looked him in the eyes for 3 seconds, then turned and walked back.

Meera knew that Varun was interested in her. She wouldn't deny it but she also was attracted towards him. they were both adults and she knew him very well. He wasn't the type who wants to settle down and get married. After a long time she felt attracted towards a guy, It was sad that she couldn't do anything about it. she didn't have time to get involved with anyone. What had happened was a mistake. They would have to talk about it.

Varun came in some minutes later. Meera saw him coming back but then continued working. Are we not going to talk about what just happened on that terrace? He saw yash sitting on the couch and then he realized that now was not the right time. As he sat down on the couch to continue reading the reports, maan and geet walked in.

PART 7

"Hey sweetheart! How was your college?" Varun asked geet as they walked in.

'It was fine. We have to submit our major assignment in 3 weeks. so it was mostly about that. Hi Yash! Hi Meera...hey Dev!! Where were you the other day?

"I was busy geet...being a father of a 6 month old is not so easy"

Geet giggled. She knew how a little devil dev's son was"

"Hey geet!" meera and yash replied..

'I'm going on the terrace to eat maan! Come join me"

ok geet. You go. Will join you. Let me grab some water!''

Geet left and maan went toward the small kitchen. Varun came next to him and gave him a pill. "just break it and mix the powder in her water. She won't know."

Maan looked at him unsure. "it's just vitamins. She makes a fuss about it all the time. So Veer just mixes it in her drink." Maan did as he said. "So, what did Sahil say?"

Before he could say anything, geet call maan out. "I'll tell you later Varun. Let me have lunch with her first." Varun just smiled and let him go. He was happy for his brother.

Geet sat in the sun. She took out both their takeout's and arranged it on the table. Maan came and sat opposite to her. it was a bit cold outside. But she loved the chilled air that was passing. Looking down, she saw the busy road. But they were so high up that they couldn't hear anything. In the far background she could see the sea. They always had the best view from up here.

"It's beautiful here geet. Even I love it" Maan said

Geet smiled and nodded in agreement. Maan was already biting in his second sandwich while geet was on her first one. After making sure that geet had drunk all the water he had given to her, he sat up. " Let's go geet. im going to start working on the case now. I've not done anything yet. I have to start on that. You can leave with Varun if you want to go home. I know you have your work. Ok?"

"Ok maan...but..um..tell me what sahil said!"

Maan went to her and held her face. "He said that you are perfect. Just need a little fixing here and there...but I'm here for that, right?" his voice was soft and assuring.

Meera put the reports down on the table and stood in front of everyone. She started talking. "ok guys! So what we know till now is that Milano Chez came to delhi 7 month ago. He was seen at these 3 locations. These places are very crowded during the day, but at night, anyone walking down there is vulnerable. All 3 locations have something in common. Girls and women workplaces. The first 2 locations are near 2 girls' hostels and the third one is near a textile factory. Note that these areas are not very posh. The girls who were kidnapped come from poor families. That's why even though they were reported missing , the parents were not taken seriously. Im going to check these places out rite now. we can continue the work when I'm back." she looked at her watch and said. " in maybe 3 hours."

As she gathered her stuff, Varun came to her. "I'm coming with you meera."

"its ok Varun, I can manage"

Varun came closer to her and said slowly. " We need to talk. So might as well use the time we are driving there"

Meera sighted. "ok. As you wish."

Varun was surprised. He thought he would have to use a lot more convincing.

As they drove towards their destination, both veer and meera were quiet. Veer had told her that he could drive, but she finally took the driving seat.

"what do you want to talk about" Meera asked.

Varun was silent than he blurted. "You kissed me!"

"So did you!! You started it...remember?"

"Yeah, I know...but I didn't...

"...expect me to kiss you back again?''

"Yeah! Kind of!"

"It was a mistake. You should not have started it and I should not have continued it. We'll just make as if it never happened. Is that fine with you?" Meera said.

Varun stared at her. He didn't want to brush it off like that. "If that's what you want!"

Meera nodded.
