PART 4

Life was never easy. Meera thought she will die out of sheer boredom if she had to wait for Geet another five minutes. Geet was not a latecomer. In fact her punctuality was a matter of joke for others. Meera was reminded of the time when Armaan used to joke that Geet had been born in a wrong country. After all this country itself works slow.

Meera was glad that Geet had come back to a bit of herself. Years of her being zombie she had turned to be a little human now a days. Geet had come back and narrated her entire interactions with Savitri Ma'am. Then she had asked if they could go out next day.

So here was poor Meera sitting and waiting for Geet to come. They had planned to meet at the nearest Dominos for some pizza party. She would have made her come along with herself but it was something related to her painting. Meera would have gladly waited but Geet forced her to go promising to follow soon.

Meera could feel that something was fishy about everything. She was waiting at the Dominos taking a seat near the window. The beautiful view of the mountains was making her frayed nerves a little calmer. She would have continued enjoying the view but suddenly Sid sat on the seat opposite to her.

Meera could easily understand why Sid was here but she did not want to have another emotional Drama. Closing her eyes for a moment Meera calmed herself a bit so she does not shout at him.

Meera:" What are you doing here Sid?"

Sid:" I guess I am having the same intention as that of you. I want to have some Pizzas as well."

Meera:"Sid, I can understand exactly why you are here. But please stop it. I appreciate your feelings for me but I can't return it. "

Sid however was not listening to Meera anymore. He watched Yash enter with Pari. He knew how difficult it would be for Meera to watch Pari and Yash together. He just held Meera's hand and made her stand with force.

Meera shouted out," What the hell..."

Sid just cut her in between saying," Meera, trust me this once. Come."

Something about the sincerity in his eyes made Meera follow him without another word. Meera was about to go out following Sid when she saw Yash grabbing a seat with Pari. She realized why Sid wanted her to leave. It ached deep within her to watch them together. Was it so easy to break and ruin someone?

Sid gave a look to Meera and he knew she had seen them as well. Sid slowly came and held her by shoulder. She stood stiff and just said in a cold voice," Can you tell me why there is no punishment for such crimes?"

Sid:" What crimes are you talking about?"

Meera:" You know that a death penalty is given to a person who has murdered someone. At least a lifetime imprisonment is given. But these people, the types who come in your life, makes you dream of a life and make you dependent on them assuring to be there to hold you when you fall. And then they just leave you. They kill your soul and let you survive with all the pain. They are worse than those murderers. They make you die a little bit each day yet they don't have the mercy to kill you completely."

Sid could make out the deep pain in Meera. But he did not want to interrupt her. From what he understood a little bit about heart break, it is better to vent out than keeping it inside you.

Meera slowly started breaking down as tears started coming out of her eyes. Sid could see her raw pain, her vulnerability. It was painful for him. But he knew she still loved Yash. Gathering her broken form in his arms he made her turn towards him and said, "Meera, you are better than this dear. You are not someone to hold grudges."

Meera said softly," You know Sid sometimes I feel Geet is luckier than me."

Sid: "Are you crazy Meer? Do you have any idea what are you saying? Are you wishing the same fate of Armaan's for Yash?"

Meera: "No, definitely not. As much as I hate him Sid, I love him too. I just am saying that Geet can remember Armaan happily without any grudge. But whenever I remember Yash this pain of his betrayal makes me bitter and I hate myself for remembering him."

Sid smiled. Even as Meera was troubled her innate goodness radiates out. Meera is not someone who can be bitter about others.

Sid:" Meera forgive him."

Meera:" Sid , how can I forgive him for ruining me? He took away everything good in me."

Sid:" No Meer. You are not ruined and no one can rob you of your goodness. If so, you wouldn't have taken care of Geet even when you needed to be taken care of. You wouldn't have stopped us from harming Yash if you were truly bad. You are just too good. But I want you to forgive him because he doesn't deserve anything from you, not even your memories. You will be at peace. Holding grudges had never done anyone any good."

Meera watched a new Sid immerge in front of her. This was not her friend who was the biggest prank star always ruining her mood with some or other tricks. But he was behaving so much matured like he had suddenly grown up.

Meera smiled and said," Sid, I never knew you can be so matured."

Sid smiled making his features look more boyish as he said," Well Miss Meera Shergill. You have just seen very little of my true self."

Meera smiled and softly said," Thank you Sid!!"

Sid smiled and asked," For making you smile?"

Meera nodded her head and said," For holding me when I was crying."

A new truce was forming. Over the years Geet had been a common link for both of them as they had worked together to bring Geet back to normalcy. But it seems they can have some more things common other than Geet.

Geet did not want to keep Meera waiting but these stupid processes were taking time. At last she was free so she almost ran to the bus stop to catch a bus. Luckily for her Akhil, one of her friend offered to drop her to the dominos outlet Meera had gone to. Akhil dropped Geet to the highway nearby and left as he had to rush somewhere else.

Geet was making her way to Dominos when she found Sid bringing out a broken Meera . Every being of Geet wanted to rush out to Meera but she stopped herself. When she heard their conversation it was like someone had stabbed her right at her heart. How could she have been so much lost in her own grief that she could not see her friends' need? How could she be so selfish?

Meera was just thanking Sid when Geet slowly approached her and said," Sorry Meera!"

Meera: "That you should be Missy. You made me wait for soo long."

Geet: "I was not talking about that Meera. I am sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me. "

Meera quickly hugged Geet and said softly," Geet, I have never held that against you. I know what it is to lose the one you love. And Armaan was not just your love; he was your friend, your enemy, your everything. You lost him even before you guys could know the feel of being with each other. Right from fourth standard you guys are friends and silent lovers. And the cruelty of fate separated you guys permanently just months after your confession. I understand the pain Geet and am glad how brave you are. Just don't stay back there. Armaan would have wanted you to live your life."

Geet's eyes teared up as she found how beautifully Meera had understood her. Geet nodded and said," Yes Meera, I realize that Armaan would have wanted me to live. But it pains to think he is gone."

Sid came forward and said," But Geet, Armaan isn't gone completely you know. He is here.. A little bit of him is there in each one of us. And we should be keeping that little bit of him alive in us."

Geet could not hold back anymore and started sobbing loudly. Sid and Meera patted her back but they let her cry. This was the first time she was grieving for Armaan. May be she will be able to let go now.

Yash had seen Meera as soon as he had entered the Dominos. He had cursed himself for choosing this Dominos. He had hurt Meera enough for a lifetime. He did not want to hurt her anymore. He was almost thankful of Sidhdharth for taking Meera away. A part of him still cared about Meera if not loved her. He pretended to get a call and headed outside.

Meera's words had hurt him but not more than the thought that he had made a sweet, innocent girl to a cynical person afraid of relationships. He was going to walk over and ask her for his punishment when Sidhdharth and later Geet came along. Even as all three were crying they were bonded by their pain. Yash turned back to go as he knew Meera is in the safe hands of her friends.

Yash turned to find Pari looking at him.

Yash: "Umm Pari!"

Pari: "I understand Yash. You wanted to make sure Meera is fine. Just don't lie to me. I know a part of you will always love her and care for her. I don't have any issues with her as long as I get to have a place of my own and be the one you can be your true self with."

Yash smiled. This girl never fails to surprise him. He said in a deep voice," Miss Parineeta chopra, did I tell you how much I love you?"

Pari:" Yes but I can hear again..."

Yash: "I love you Pari. Thanks for being there for me. And the truth is I care for Meera to and I hope someday she gets over my betrayal and gets her happiness."

Pari: "You did not betray her or me. The day you felt something more for me than friendship you broke things with her even at the cost of losing her friendship. I hope someday she will find it in her heart to forgive you. But Yash, remember, I love you too. Come on let's go and grab a bite."

A man's back could be seen as he talked over the phone. Once he kept the phone he just mumbled only to himself," Oh!! Why it had to be her? What I am going to do now? She will not understand me."
