PART II. MAAN IGNORED, GEET ANNOYED

Geet huffed as she searched for her file. She checked under the table, out of the window, under the bed and even in the dustbin but she could not find it. She had turned her whole house upside down but she did not get the file. She huffed and sat on the nearby sofa. "Hey Babaji! Meri file mujhe dilaa do! Mera interview hai kuch dino mein!", she looked up and prayed. Geet had recently gotten a call for interview. Pinky, who was her father's best friend's daughter, had filed all her certificates properly in a file last night. But she forgot to inform Geet where she had kept it and had gone early in the morning to her office. Geet wanted to call her up to ask about it but decided to search for it herself. She looked around the mess and thanked her Babaji that Pinky's father was not at home and was at his work. Or else she would have gotten good scoldings for making a mess. Suddenly, her eyes the reached the dining table in front of her where there were lots of papers and things kept. She winced at the mess and she realized that while searching for things, she had placed all the things from the cupboards and all on the table. Shaayad us table ke mess mein hi hoga! She huffed and got up. Shat marched towards the table and sat on a chair nearby. As she started sorting the things on the table, the door bell rang. "Phitte mooh Tera!", Geet mumbled, "Ab kaun aya etthe?" She walked towards the door all the while mumbling, "Chain se kaam bhi karne nahi deta koi! Main etthe pareshaan hun aur inko abhi aana tha! Chodungi nahi main Babaji! Chodungi nahi!" She opened the door, looked at the person standing there and slammed the door close. She turned around and mumbled, "Hey Babaji! Yeh yahaan kya kar rahe hain?"

Maan stood at the door waiting for it open. He was standing in front of Manchanda House at 10 in the morning waiting to speak with Geet. He had decided last night itself that he would speak with Geet and befriend her today itself. He was sure that in ten days he would be able to get the truth out of Geet's mouth. Aur phir is Geet ki taraf dekhunga bhi nahi! He checked the watch; Kitna time lagaayegi Geet ek darwaaza kholne mein? Suddenly, the door opened. In front of him, Geet stood with eyes wide and mouth open. Before he could say a thing, the door was slammed on his face. His eyes widened and he stood in shock for a moment. Then he knocked on the door, "Geet darwaaza kholo!"

Geet heard Maan shouting and looked at the door worriedly. Yeh yahaan kyun aaye? But her mind diverted to his attire and she sighed dreamily. Par kitne handsome lag rahe the woh business wear mein! Her heart beat increased as she thought of him while butterfly erputed in her stomach. But then she remembered his attitude towards her and she pouted. Zaroor jhagadne aaye honge yahaan! Aur kis liye aayenge! She nodded her head. She looked up and complained, "Hey Babaji! Meri life mein problems kya kam the jo inhein yahaan bhej diya! Lekin aap bhi dekhlena Babaji! Main inhein nahi chodungi!" She turned and opened the door. She glared at Maan, "Kya hai?" Maan huffed, "Mujhe tumse baat karni hai!" Geet shrugged, "Kahiye!" Maan took a deep breath, "Main andar aa sakta hun?" She turned and looked at the mess inside. Hey Babaji! Yeh agar andar aaye toh inhein bithaau kahaa? Aur phir ghar ki yeh haalat dekhkar discipline pe lecture denge woh alag! She turned around and shook her head, "Aap andar nahi aa sakte!" Maan frowned, "Kyun?" Geet fumbled, "Kyun? Kyun ka matlab? Nahi aa sakte matlab nahi aa sakte!" Maan felt his anger building. He pointed his finger at her, "Dekho Geet!" Geet pointed a finger at him, "Aap dekhiye! Ek toh subah subah aake mujhe pareshaan kar rahe hain! Aur upar kaisi ajeeb zidd liye baithe hain ki aapko andar aana hi hai! Dekhiye Maan! Mujhe sataana band kijiye!" That was it! He was talking patiently with her but now it was enough, "Bas Geet! This is enough! Ek toh main tumse pyaar se baat kar raha hun aur tum ho ki mujh par rob jhaad rahi ho!" Geet clenched his fists and glared at him, "Main aap par koi rob nahi jhaad rahi! Ulta aap mujhse dhang se nahi baat karte! Aap humesha mujhse ladte rehte hain!" "What?", Maan roared, "Ladta main hun ya tum ho! Jab dekho ladne ko nikal padhti ho! Kabhi toh dhang se baat karo! Par nahi! Tum toh ladkar hi rahogi! Ek dum badtameez baddimaag ladki ho tum!" Geet's jaw dropped and she started spitting fire, "Main badtameez hun! Main baddimaag hun! Badtameez toh aap hai! Baddimaag aap hai! Aap toh hitler hain hitler! Sab par dhons jamaate rehte hain!" Maan's eyes widened, " Main hitler hun toh tum ek sar dard ho! Ek sard dard jise main jhel raha hun!" Geet placed her hands on her hip, "Sar dard! Agar main sar dard hun toh aap yahaan kya kar rahe hain? Is sar dard se kyun baat kar rahe hain? Jaayiye aur apna kaam kijiye!" Maan glared at her, "Yahi! Yahi meri galti hai! Ki main tumse yahaan baat karne aaya hun! Main hi bewakoof hoon!", Geet cut him off with "Sahi kahaa aapne!" Maan pointed a finger at her, "Chup! Ek dum chup! Mooh se ek shabd bhi nahi!" Geet refused to shut up, "Mera mooh band mat kijiye! Agar meri baat nahi sunni toh yahaan se jaayiye!" Maan huffed, "Haan! Haan! Jaa raha hun! Yahaan kaun rukna chaahta hai!" He turned and stomped off while Geet shouted from behind, "Jaayiye! Jaayiye!" Maan reached his car, opened it, sat down and fumed for a while. It was only after calming down a little that he remembered the reason he went there. He slapped his forehead. Oh Teri! Main gaya tha dosti karne aur aaya hun jhagadke! Yeh ladki bhi na! Uff! Paagal kar degi mujhe ek din!

Geet sighed as she closed the door. She turned and went towards the table to sort through the mess. After a while, a thought floated through her head. Par Maan yahaan aaye kyun the? But then she shrugged. Mujhe kya!

It was late in the afternoon when Geet's landline rang. She picked it up, "Hello?" "Hello! Geet! Main Maan bol raha hun!" Geet cut him off with, "Aap? Phir se jhagadna chaahte hain kya? Dekhiye Bhagwaan ke liye mujhe pareshaan mat kijiye! Mujhe aapse bilkul baat nahi karni!" She cut the phone. The whole afternoon Maan kept on calling but Geet refused to pick up. In the evening Maan reached her house and called her. But she refused to come out. He even banged at the door but it was of no use. He had to leave when people started eyeing him worriedly.

It was late night when Geet sat on her bed thinking. Kya main aaj Maan ke saath bahut rude thi? Kya maine theek se bartaav nahi kiya? She thought for a while. Par unhein bhi toh mujhe aise sataana nahi chaahiye na! Ek toh itna pyaar karti hun main unse aur woh hain ki har waqt jhagadte hain! Jab pehle main unke peeche peeche ghoomti thi, unse dosti karne ki koshish karti thi toh woh mujhe ignore karte the! Aur jab poocha ki kyun ignore karte ho toh mujhse ladne lage! Tab se aaj tak hum sirf lad rahe hain! She made a face thinking of his rude attitude towards her. But after a while, she frowned, Par aaj itni baar unhonein mujhse baat karne ki koshish ki! Phir bhi main kitni rude thi! Yeh toh galat tha na? She looked up. Haina Babaji! She huffed. Nahi! Maine bahut galat kiya aaj unke saath! Agar ab woh mujhse baat karenge toh main politely unki baat sunungi! Pakka promise Babaji! Happy with her decision she lied down and went to sleep!

Meanwhile, Maan lied on his bed and sighed. Aaj Geet ne badtameezi ki hadd paar kar di! How dare she ignore me! Aaj tak Maan Singh Khurana ko kisi ne ignore nahi kiya! Aur yeh ek nakchadi ladki mujhe ignore karne ki himmat rakhti hai! He fumed for a while but then his talk with Dev's came to his mind. Calm down, Maan! Calm down! Yeh bas kuch hi din ki baat hai! Dosti karni hai, baat nikaalni hai phir Geet se door! That's it! Bas kuch din us sar dard ko jhel le! He took a deep breath. Kal main ek aur attempt karunga! Usse dosti karne ki! Tum kuch bhi kar lo Geet! Main haar nahi maanunga! I will befriend you! Yeh Maan Singh Khurana ka waada hai! He nodded in determination and was off to sleep.
