PART I. DAADIMA, DEV AND MAAN

Maan stared pensively at the tender file in front of him. He had to place the tender soon and he wanted to make sure all was set and perfect before submitting it. Suddenly, his concentration was broken by the door opening with a bang. Maan rolled his eyes. Without seeing he knew that it was his younger brother Dev who had entered the room. Dev was the only one in the whole house who would enter in a room in such a manner; and also the only one who would enter a room without knocking on the door. He felt Dev sit beside him. Maan did not react. He knew that Dev wanted him to ask the purpose of his arrival and then Dev would go on a long winded speech about enjoying life and blah blah blah half of which Maan would tune out. So Maan ignored him in favor of his tender. After few moments, he felt Dev fidget. Maan smirked. Mujhe pata hai ki tum chaahte ho ki main tumse yahaan aane ki wajah poochoon! Lekin main aaj apna mooh nahi kholunga! After few minutes of fidgeting, Dev could not stop himself and he blurted out, "Bro! Mujhe aapse baat karni hai!" Maan shook his head, pulled out his wallet from his pant pocket and handed it over to Dev, "Jitna le jaana hai, le jaao! Par mujhe disturb mat karo!" He felt Dev huff, "Bhai aapko kya lagta hai ki main aapke paas sirf paise lene ke liye aata hoon?" Maan finally lifted his eyes up from his work and stared at Dev for a moment. Dev looked back indignantly. After few minutes of his stare, Dev wilted and mumbled, "Fine! Main aapke paas har waqt isi reason se aata hoon!" Maan smiled smugly and Dev hastened to add, "Lekin aaj main aur kisi reason se aaya hoon!" Maan gave him a bored look. Dev, seeing his brother's expression burst out, "Bro! Mujhe pyaar hogaya hai!" Maan looked at Dev in shock. The next moment, he closed his tender file and turned his attention fully towards his little brother. Dev smiled victoriously and mumbled, "Yes, Bro! I am in love!" Maan nodded. Chalo! Achcha hai! Iski shaadi hogi toh thoda responsible bhi banega aur thoda maturity bhi aa jaayegi! Maan's mobile beeped and while checking the message he fired only one question, "Who is she?" Dev smirked mischievously, which unfortunately for Maan and fortunately for us, Maan did not notice. "Bro! Woh Geet hai!" Maan's mobile fell from his hand while he looked at Dev in shock. Dev felt elated. Lagta hai main galat tha! Main toh sochta tha ki Maan Bro ko Geet bilkul hi pasand nahi hai lekin inke reaction se toh kuch aur hi lagta hai! Chalo! Ab Geet bahut jald meri Bhabhi banegi! But all his hopes were dashed when Maan growled in anger, "Tumhein poori duniya mein wahi ek sar dard mili thi! Har waqt ladti rehti hai! Kitni badtameez hai! I so hate her!" Dev pouted. Arre! Yaar! Main pehle hi sahi tha! Yeh toh Geet se nafrat karte hai! Chalo Dev Beta! Baaki plan ko poora karo! He mumbled, "But I love her, Bro! She is my life!" Maan got up and glared at the wall imagining it to be Geet's face, "Yeh kabhi nahi ho sakta! Woh sar dard is ghar mein kabhi nahi aa sakti!" Dev got up and grabbed his brother's hands in his and used all his acting skills to create a miserable expression, "Bhai please mere pyaar ko samjho!" Maan looked at his younger brother's expression and felt his heart melt, "Theek Hai! Theek Hai! Tum usse shaadi karna chaahte ho toh karo!", he mumbled uncomfortably. Dev grinned and hugged his brother excitedly, "Thank you! Bro! Thank you! You are the best brother in the world!" Maan rolled his eyes and pushed Dev away. He sat down to work on his tender.

After a while Maan felt Dev still standing nearby. Maan turned to look at Dev and stared at him. Dev smiled hesitantly and mumbled, "Bas ek problem hai Bro!" Maan rolled his eyes. He seemed to be doing this a lot in presence of his brother. "I don't know whether she loves me or not!" "WHAT!", Maan roared as he got up and stared at his brother. Dev nodded. Maan slapped his forehead. "Tum mere paas Geet ko is ghar ki bahu banaane ke liye haan kehelwaane aaye ho aur use tumhaare pyaar ki baat pata bhi nahi!", Maan growled and Dev gulped and shook his head. Maan shook his head. He prayed for patience from the Gods above and spoke in a calm voice, "Ab kya karoge?" Dev put his hands in his pant pockets and shrugged, "Usmein aapki help chaahiye!" Maan wanted to slam his forehead on the wall; no the better option is to slam Dev's forehead! He glared at his little brother, "Tum mujhse help expect kar rahe ho? Mujhse? Baat business ki hoti toh I would have given you hundreds of idea! But you are forgetting that romance is not my department. Infact, you were the prince of romance in college!" Dev rolled his eyes, "That is not favor I want, Bro!" Maan looked at him questioningly. Dev explained, "Main chaahta hoon ki aap Geet se baat karein aur uske dil mein kya hai ye pata lagaayein!" "WHAT?", Maan roared and Dev winced at the volume. Ab tak toh Geet tak bhi Maan Bro ki aawaaz pahunch gayi hogi! Maan glared at Dev and Dev was sure that pretty soon smoke will start coming from his Bro's ears too. Dev gulped and replied, "Dekho Bro! Daadima agar baat karegi toh Geet will says yes even if she does not feel the same way! Aur main baat karunga aur Geet ka jawaab agar na hua toh hum dono ki dosti kharaab ho jaayegi! Please Bro! Do this for me!" Dev pleaded with Maan. This pleading continued for atleast half an hour before Maan finally agreed, "Theek hai! Theek hai! Fine! I will do this one favor for you! Par isse jyaada mujhse expect mat karna!" Dev nodded. Maan took a deep breath, "Aur mujhe kya karna hoga? I mean main jaakar aisi baat nahi kar sakta na!" Dev nodded and spoke, "Woh Bro! Aapko Geet se dosti karni hogi aur dheere dheere uske dost banke uske dil ki baat baahar nikaalni hogi!" Dev braced himself for another roaring outburst but Maan simply nodded, "Theek hai! I will start my mission soon! Ab hogi Geet Aur Dev Ki Kahaani, Maan Ki Zubaani!" He got a phone call and marched away to answer it.

Dev smirked and spoke up in the empty room, "Aur Main Pherunga Aapke Plan Pe Paani, Kyunki Main Aur Daadima Likhenge Geet Aur Maan Ki Kahaani!"

"Bas Daadi! Maan Bro Geet se dosti karenge aur dheere dheere unke pyaar mein kho jaayenge! Aur phir mujhe milegi meri best friend Geet as Bhabhi!", Dev spoke with enthusiasm while Daadima smiled in excitement. Dev was in Daadima's room explaining her about his new plan. But suddenly, Daadima frowned, "Lekin agar Maan bete ko phir bhi pyaar nahi hua toh?" She looked worriedly at Dev and Dev responded with a concerned look. He replied, "Phir toh in dono ka kuch bhi nahi ho sakta!" Both looked at each other morosely and sighed sadly.
