Something doesn't feel right to me today. I feel like something will happen today as if a storm is approaching quickly. She reassured herself no storm can be as big as what she dealt with in the past. Her life has been so complicated as long as she could remember. She never did get a chance to grow up in a normal family home like most kids. Yes, she had a mother, a father and even siblings who adored her by the way but even than all that "perfect" family image that everyone had in their mind was far from the actual reality all thanks to her dad.
Most of her childhood was spent moving from one home to another, make new friends every three month, go to new school and start all over again; not once does she remember having a normal home where one could reside forever. Nope, that never happened. That is why she didn't run away from the house that brought her nightmares. She was not like her dad and her siblings; nope she is different and prefer to stay that way. Her family gave her nothing but sorrows and are responsible for what she has become today.
The tires screeched to a halt as a pedestrian decided to cross from the middle of the road. Geet saw her looking at her apologetically as she crosses the road with her baby stroller. She watches the mother carefully cross the road with her baby, once crosses the lady picks up her baby hugging it tightly.
What a beautiful relation a mother shares with their babies; the sacrifices one makes for their kids, the hardships they follow just to make sure their kids have all the happiness in the world. Unknowingly, her thoughts wandered back to Aminaah; the sacrifices she made for her and the things she did just to make sure she was safe. She doesn't trust anyone not even herself when it comes to her daughter. She learned how to rely on herself and make sure there is always a backup case.
Power! One thing she noticed was that people love those that have power to take command. Those that have power to not show any fear. Those that know how to lead. She smiled as everyone steps aside as she steps into her office. Ahh the power she held being their manager. Everyone was scared of her and made sure not to get on her bad side.
Her company, which is a non-profit organization, helps people those in need specifically women who need help start their own life again, those that lived in hell with their husbands. Her company is there for those when all they have left is themselves, when no one is there to help, not even their relatives. She was proud of this company she created from scratch, something she did on her own without anyone's help. Her employees were responsible for the customers making sure they have all the important details they require before sending police to their rescue and/or place them somewhere where their past can't haunt them.
With short spam of time, Geet was a known figure among society. People recognized her and her employees for the efforts they go through to keep women safe. Although, this is a non-profit organization, her source of income comes from beneficiaries and sponsors. This was her little world where there is only a room for her company and her daugther.
Something she is very protective of and will do anything in her power to keep it with her. She looks through the window of her office at her employees that worked non-stop to help create the vision she wanted. Yes, she is strict and may seem like heartless to some but no one can see the thick wall she purposely created for herself. The wall helps her from breaking down, the wall helps her to keep alive, the wall helps her to garner the strength she didn't have in the past. She won't let anyone or even give a chance to anyone to break her again.
"Sir, I did what you told me to do. The baby."
The guy, who was following Geet, hands over the baby to Maan. Maan looks at the baby with a smirk, indeed she looked exactly like her mother. Exact replica of Geet Handa. Maan raises his hand motioning for him to leave. His assistant, Adi, hands him cash signaling him to leave instantly. The man looks at the baby one more time feeling bad for whoever his target is. Animaah looks at the strange men in front of her with big brown eyes, she started clapping her hands and smiling at Maan.
Maan observed the little girl who was in her own little world not knowing how dangerous his presence can be for her. The girl tried to come out of her baby seat to grab something that caught her attention. Maan looks at the pistol he was holding in his hand that the girl was trying to grab. He laughs out loud. He moves the pistol towards Animaah letting her grab it in her tiny little hands. She smiled as she started to observe what the thing was. Maan had his hand on the trigger as the girl puts the pistol in her mouth slobbering it with her saliva.
"This girl does not seem to be scared of me. Interesting. She herself is inviting her death by playing with the pistol."
"She is a baby sir. I am sure she doesn't know how scary you actually can be"
"hmm why don't we scare the mother first. Dial her number" (he says as he continued to look at Animaah)
Geet looks at the unknown number on her cell phone. No one calls her unless it was from her daycare or the babysitter. Her number is not known to anyone not that she has anyone to give the number too. She sighs and disconnects the number, two seconds later the same unknown number shows up again on her cell phone.
"hello. Who is this"
"Doesn't matter who this is what matter is what we have of yours with us"
"Listen, I don't have time for your crap." (Maan smirks hearing her comeback)
"Not even at the risk of your daugther? She looks exactly like you" (Geet's heart stopped hearing this unknown stranger talk about her daugther. She couldn't be weak...no) "Don't believe me? Well, hear her cries and judge for yourself" (Maan looks at Animaah and pinches her arm until she started to cry with pain) "Now, why don't we talk about business in exchange for your daugther"
Geet leans back in her chair with a smile that she forced herself. The guy didn't know who he was dealing with. He may have her daughter but she always keep a second plan handy. She doesn't trust anyone and especially those that are dear to her, those things that are keeping her alive.
"Am afraid there will be no business between us."
Maan looks at his phone double checking if the number was correct. He had expected the woman to beg and cry but instead she is being calm as if anything he had said did not go through. There was something that he could not put his fingers on. There was something going on in her mind for sure and if there anything he learned over his past was to trust his instincts.
"That is where you are wrong sweetheart. If you don't do what I say than you will see dead body of your daugther and that is my promise"
"Not much of a man to kidnap a helpless baby holding it for a business deal. I have no reason to be afraid of you. Anyway, let me tell you what is going to happen. In about two minutes police will be at your door arresting you for this kidnap. My daugther will be safe and sound in my home while you will be rotting away in jail. Does this seem like a good deal to you?"
Geet hangs up the phone quickly leaving her office. While she was speaking on the phone she had activated her gps chip that she had placed inside her. The gps chip had an activating device that she carried with her everywhere she went. In case of an emergency, with one push of a button she was able to notify the police right away. She smiles to herself at this unknown person that tried to break her.
"Hello, I want to sue the daycare that my daugther attends. Send them a notice right away"
Geet hangs up the phone in anger. The daycare that suppose to look after your kids lets a strange person leaving with your child. She will teach them a lesson for every minute her daughter was with that unkown guy. She had a feeling that this wouldn't be the last time with him. She will meet him again and she was ready for him.
"Sir, I hear the police sirens. She wasn't joking"
Maan smiles "Interesting. Well, played Ms. Handa."
"What should we do?"
"Leave the girl and lets go. I will deal with her my way later"
Geet looks at the gps tracker as she drives to where her daughter was held captive. Only 10 more minutes. She hoped to god that they were able to capture the people and as for her daughter no matter where she is, she will always find her but still the fear inside her can't be taken away.
The fear of loosing her only last hope was creeping in but no matter what the situation would be she would fight. She quickly parks her car running toward the building that was surrounded by the cops. She saw her daugther being carried outside by a policeman. Instantly, she runs toward her daugther in happiness.
Maan watches the drama from afar. This was the first time he was seeing her in person, even if its far away. She had the same big brown eyes like the little girl. He noticed she was wearing a full sleeve t-shirt during this hot 90 degrees weather while wearing shorts. Something didn't seem right. For now, he was still not able to figure out how she managed to find her daugther but no matter the game has begun and at the end he will make sure he is victorious.
"See you soon Ms.Handa" (He rolls his car window up while driving away)
