PART 68

Maan and his family were back to Delhi. Their house was filled with happiness. Maanvi was thrilled that there will be someone younger than her. Maan as always was over protective about Geet. All her office was shifted to home. Pinky would be with her 24/7. Maan even gave Adi and Pinky a room in his mansion. Did I forget to mention Pinky and Adi got married. They cancelled their honeymoon coz of Maan's orders. Geet was dead against this but after all he is the Maan Singh Khurana. Jokes apart Maan had an idea that the trio, Dev-Ansh-Abhay were upto something. Months passed. Geet was now seven months pregnant. Maanvi was surprised that she too was once like a ball in mumma's tummy. She would talk to the baby that they would have lots of fun when they were together..or sometimes she would tell stories to baby. It reminded Geet of Maan when he used to talk to Maanvi. Apart from being stubborn child Maanvi was a perfectionist. She respected elders, excelled in studies and extracarricular activities. Dadi would say,"bilkul Maan pe gayi he."

Geet was in dadi's room. Dadi was talking about something but she didn't even pay attention. "Geet bete, kya hua? Ap kya soch rhe ho? U r not even listening to me?" She woke up from her reverie, "Sorry dadima. Wo me Maan ke barey me soch rhi thi."

Dadi: Maan ko kya hua?

Geet : I don't know but he looked worried all the time since last night. I have a feeling something is bothering him but he wont tell.

Dadi: dnt worry bete.It must be work..

Geet : nhi dadi..i think its more.. He was too tensed this morning..and u knw him na? He loves his work. He is never this worried abt it but this is different. He was not nervous but wary...It makes me scared.

Dadi : U worry too much beta, just let it go.

Geet nodded and kept quiet. She knew that something was coming but let it pass. If Maan felt it was right to tell her he would have. Geet didn't have enough time to think about as she immersed herself with the discussions of renovation of their Gurgaon resort with Pinky and later Maanvi kept her too busy.

"We have gathered here for the auction of Dev Khurana Mansion. Since this is an open tender you may start the bidding with a minimum of 25 crore."

The government officer read the note and sat on his place. The bell was rang and the bidding started. Dev was present in the last row with Ansh. He looked dejected. This was not what he had expected. In his race to beat Maan, he forgot to play his own game. His company was at loss. There was nothing he could do. He had gone far. NT had warned him about this day but he never paid attention yet he didn't regret his intention. Watever he had become it was all his own doing. There is no one to share the fame or shame. And he wont lose anything. He had such good friends. Abhay had promised him to return his home back. Dev was fully confident till the moment he saw the black Wonder moving into the parking lot. It brought with him a sense of failure. It was like he was going to be doomed forever. The Wonder cut across his Benz just a few moments back as if a crouching tiger hunts his prey. He didn't need to look who was the driver for he knew who the one person with such a dominant maneuver was. The presence itself terrified him, as if he could foresee the outcome of the encounter. The moment he never wanted to face in his whole life, to meet his brother Maan Singh Khurana when he was a complete failure. He didn't wait to see Maan stepping out of his car and went inside the hall where the procedure for auction had already begun. He could feel Maan's piercing gaze on his back. One by one people started bidding for his company. Maan kept quiet. Dev turned slightly to see if he was standing there at all or was he hallucinating all the time. And then he saw Maan Singh Khurana standing at the far end, full of confidence, his hands crossed across his muscular chest. Adi, his forever loyal employee stood next to him , waiting for his one instruction to execute whatever plan he had in his mind. The auction was at its peak, people were bidding higher and higher. Whatever be the current position of Dev Khurana Constructions today, owning the mansion was a privilege for any VVIP in the city. Dev saw as Adi looked at Maan and he nodded. Adi called out, "75 crore!!" . The stunned crowd turned all at once to look at Adi. The host called for their attention "Woah..woah..we have 75 crores for this huge mansion'Any more bidders?? This is bell1'..and bell2'" "80 crores" Ansh couldn't hold back. Maan had a smirk on his face. Adi was nervous, "85'c.c.crore.."

Ansh : 90

Adi :95'

Ansh : 100 crore'

Maan signalled Adi to stop with his hand.

The host rang the third bell and confirmed the auction. Ansh went to clear the formalities. Dev was extremely happy. He got the mansion back after all . He got back that evil grin on his face and went straight to meet Maan. Now he could face him.

Dev : hey bro, i think that's just not your best day,huh?? Better luck next time..

Maan was staring at him all the time.

Dev: I know its hard for you to accept the failure again and again..but this is just a beginning...

Maan : Exactly Dev..

Dev shuddered at his manly voice. He already lost the colour of his face.

Maan : This is just a beginning Dev... Only a fool like you will buy your own house for 100 crores. U really think I would come back for this mansion which I already gave you. I just wanted to see this look on your face. You wont even realise Dev what I would make of you.

Maan walked out in style with his men as Dev stood there frozen.

Later in the night Maan stood in the balcony gazing at the moon. Geet just woke up from her sleep and looked for him when she found him at the balcony. She got up and went near him. He looked tormented. She quietly stood beside him and ran her hand on his back. He let out a deep breath.

Maan : Shona..u didn't sleep?

Geet : Even u didn't

He smiled lightly.

Maan : It's Dev..

Geet : I thought so. Whats with Dev?

Maan : He has ruined everything...watever my dad, grand dad had made. Our legacy..its gone..

Geet : No! It's not.. The legacy of Khuranas is here...You are the heir..People will recognise you as the succesor and that is what you are. Dev can't do anything..

Maan : He has done enough damage. I wont let him do anymore.

Geet winced.as she saw his forehead crease with worry.

Geet : hmmm.. Now if you have solved all the problems in the world can u give a little time for our little baby..

Maan : owww..mera bacha..

Maan placed a soft kiss on her baby bump.

Maan was pacing up and down in the hospital outside the labor room.

Dadi : Maan, there is nothing to worry at all. We were already prepared, a week before in the hospital. Its a normal delivery.

Maan : I know dadima..but she would be in pain..pata nhi...how can I just relax..until both my dear lives are safe..

Dadi shook his head and sat on the chair.

Maanvi saw her dad and dadi.

Maanvi : papa, is mumma not well?

Maan : no kidu..mumma will bring your little friend home..

Maanvi : Then why r u sad sad?

Maan smiled, " I am not sad...just worried."

Maanvi : don't worry mumma and little baby will be fine..

Maan hugged her and kissed on her forehead. He felt as if it was his mishty who is comforting him.

The doctor came all smiling, "Congrats Mr. Khurana..it's a baby girl.."

Maan was relieved. He rushed to meet Geet along with Maanvi. The doctor stopped him.

Doc : oh..Mr. Khurana I'm afraid you would have to wait for some more time.

Maan : Wat? Wat's wrong? Is she alright?

Doc : Ofcourse she is..but there is some dressing to be done. You would have to wait for some 30 mins or so. Meanwhile the nurse will be here with your baby.

Just then the nurse arrived with a tiny bundle in her hand. Maan's hand trembled as he reached out for his baby. She opened her deep hazel brown eyes and looked at him. He felt as if he was holding his Mishty. Maanvi tucked his trouser to gain his attention. Maan bent on his knees to let her see her baby sister.

Maanvi was all thrilled and excited just as Maan.

Maanvi : She is so pink-pink'and soft'

Maan held both his daughters in each arms. No moment in his life seemed to be this perfect and he knew that they were his world now.

Maanvi : papa baby ka naam kya hoga??

He didn't have to think much, "Misha.." he said Misha 'who is like Mishty'
