Rano, Taiyji and Rajji looked at each other. They were confused. What had they just witnessed? They saw Ms Roy shouting some abuse and Geet slapping her. They hadn't heard the entire conversation so were unsure as to why Ms Roy had been so rude and nasty. Had Geet done something or said something to deserve that sort of abuse? Before any of them could say anything, they heard a loud bang coming from upstairs as Geet slammed her bedroom door shut. All eyes turned up towards the bedroom, and then Rano said, looking at Rajji and Taiyji "I will go up and talk to Geet"
Geet was lying on her bed sobbing into her pillow, when her mother opened the bedroom door and walked in slowly moving towards the bed.
"Geet" Rano said gently as she caressed her daughters head. "Beta, are you okay? Beta, what happened? Why was that woman talking to you like that?"
"Mumma, please leave me..." Geet sobbed not looking at Rano. "I need to be alone to think...please...I am okay...I am your sherni beta hai na? We will talk later, I promise"
"But beta.." Rano tried to continue but Geet interrupted saying "Mumma, later. Okay?"
Rano knew her daughter was hurting but also knew that Geet needed some time alone. With a deep sigh she arose from the bed looking tenderly at her daughter "Okay, Geet. When you are ready to talk, I will be waiting". She turned towards the door when Geet stopped her by saying "Thank you for understanding Mumma"
Rano nodded and left the room. She went downstairs and shook her head at Taiyji and Rajji who were waiting below. "She will talk when she is ready."

Meanhile, Ms Roy was shaking in her car which was stationary outside Handa Haveli. She couldnt' move. She was angry...very angry. "How dare that slip of a country girl slap me? Not only once, but she had the audacity to slap me twice!" she thought rubbing her reddened cheeks. "At least I have shown her her place...who does she think she is? Married to Maan...poor Maan. He is linked to this girl. Not for long, if I have anything to do with it. Watch out Geet. You will pay heavily for messing with me". She looked at the Haveli with disdain and finally calmed down to drive away.

Maan was getting frustrated sitting drinking his third cup of coffee, while he listened to Brij's and Suresh non-stop chatter. Anytime Maan tried to move the conversation along towards the issue with the workers, Brij stopped him, telling him not to rush. "Remember Maan, this is Hosiyarpur, not Delhi. We have not fixed timelines to work to. We have to play their game and run by their rules. When they are ready, they will raise the issue. Not us." So morning, quickly faded into afternoon, and both were now sat around the dining table having lunch with Suresh rather than tea and coffee. Maan wanted to leave, but knew, that if he did, he would make matters worse, so decided to go along with whatever Brij suggested.

Geet sat in her room looking outside her window at the sky and the birds flying freely. How many times had she looked out this window? Sometimes in happiness and more recently in sadness. Sadness when her marriage to Dev was fixed...sadness when Brij had falsely accused her of losing her modesty and beaten her...and when she was being forced to marry Maan. What about her dreams? Her dreams that she had woven in Delhi, about becoming a high-flying successful interior designer? But her dreams were shattered when she came to Hoshiyarpur 2 weeks ago. She had given up dreaming, until Maan saved her from committing suicide...and promising her that she would have freedom once they married. She had started to dream again about a pleasant happy life with Maan. She may not love him now, but he was kind and thoughtful and there was a physical attraction between them, that made her hope, that they may fall in love in the future...but again her dreams were shattered. By the reality painted by Ms Roy. All the insecurities that Geet had about the circumstances of their marriage, about the differences in their backgrounds and possibly even their age difference that she had laughed off earlier, came flooding into her head. She knew so little about Maan or his family...actually she knew nothing. Maan seemed nice, but didn't he consummate their marriage on the wedding night and not wait until they got to know each other better? Of course, Geet had some say in that decision didn't she? Did she do it out of obligation? She began doubting everything she had said or he said in the last few days. She began to second guess and look for hidden meanings in conversations. Was Ms Roy right? Was Maan using her? He wanted to get out of Hosiyarpur and this was his only way out...to marry her...and then leave her? She began panicking thinking about the consequences. Where would she go? What would she do? The more she thought, the more questions she had...unfortunately, she had very few answers. Time slowly ticked by as Geet ruminated on the thoughts in her head.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard Rajji ask "Geet didi. It is lunch-time. Are you coming downstairs or will I bring you some food?"
"I will be down in a few minutes" Geet replied, getting up from her bed. She went into the bathroom and splashed some water on her face. She looked at herself in the mirror. She had decided what she wanted.
