Geet rushed in shouting and screaming 'Congratulations and celebrations'

Meera blushed as Geet hugged her a lot and asked

'When is the engagement?'

Meanwhile Maan reached Yash's house and asked the same question.

'Tomorrow yaar' Yash smiled happily.

--

'What tomorrow isn't it a bit too soon?' asked Geet looking at Meera who was dreaming and blushing of Yash and her engagement tomorrow.

'No yaar. We've been waiting for this day for years Maan. She told me today she is finally ready' Yash replied to Maan. Maan nodded but inside his heart was pricking.

'But clothes, the jewellery and things? You need time for that right to buy all that how will you sort that by tomorrow evening?' asked Geet.

'Maan Don't worry. We've sorted everything out. Look I've even sent the invites out today already mostly. Who can make it will come who can't Its fine and Maan look here is your shervani' Yash said picking it up giving it to him.

'Wow Meera its so beautiful. And what will You and Yash be wearing' Geet picked her lengha choli and swirled. Meera took her phone out and started to show the shewarni for Yash.

'Maan here look this is for Meera and this is for Geet' Yash pointed out at the two dresses and pictures. Maan smiled slightly and then said

'Yash congrats yaar I've got to go' Maan said picking up the shewarni.

'But make sure you're here tomorrow afternoon okay.. your my best man yaar remember' Maan nodded as he walked out.

'Geet you will be okay right?' Meera asked stopping for a minute looking at Geet who was smiling and Geet turned to her and held her hands and replied

'Meera, your only getting engaged right now. And tomorrow you will marry and leave me alone in this apartment. But where are you going? Just two blocks away meri jaan. I will be coming everyday to be a kebab main haddi' Meera and Geet hugged eachother.

The following day Geet rushed to office and she was on time. She and Meera had danced and partied the whole night that she awoke so late. She managed to get ready and eat a toast on the way as she ran into office. She rushed towards the lift and collided with Maan. Maan who was already in a bad mood due to not sleeping and feeling restless and a bizarre feeling about Geet getting engaged to his best friend was not helping. He walked towards the lift and the next thing he knew was that Geet collided with him. He felt her presence as soon as she entered the doors and tried to ignore it but Geet wouldn't let him ignore her. Hence the collision.

'I'm so sorry Maan sir' Geet said getting her breath back. Maan closed his eyes and clenched his fists and shouted at her

'Can't you see where you are going? You have eyes right then use them' Geet looked at him and noticed he was angrier than ever. There was a lot of fury in his eyes.

'Sorry' She meeked out as they walked into the lift.

'Whats wrong with him? Why is he acting so weirded out and so angry. I did so many things yesterday and beforehand and he has never been this angry.'

'whats wrong with you Maan. Why can't you control yourself around Geet?'

The lift pinged alerting them to the stop. Both Maan and Geet walked out. Maan decided to ignore Geet until this all falls over. Maybe once Geet and Yash were married he could stop thinking about this.

Midafternoon Maan had left the office as Yash had called him. Geet had also with the permission of Adi took a one day leave.

Geet was getting Meera ready and was thinking about her past and her own engagement.

Flashback

Dev Raina was a well known businessman. He had met Mr Handa in a business meeting and was impressed by him. He had introduced Geet to Dev and there started a friendship. During the course of the friendship, Mr Handa observed his daughter being friendly with Dev and thought Dev would be a good match for his daughter. (Mr Handa was a very rich businessman. Naturally Geet was too but she was simple and down to earth) Geet seeing her fathers happiness agreed to him and also she knew sometimes Love Stories start from friendship. She didn't love Dev and she knew that. But he was a great friend. Dev was honoured when Mr Handa asked him to marry his daughter. He spoke to Geet whom replied she was happy and he understood her. Dev smiled and innocently held Geet's hand and said 'Geet I Do Love You. I Know you don't but maybe in the future after marriage you might do. I trust in that. Even if you don't my love will be enough. Thank you for making me the happiest Man by agreeing to marry me' Geet smiled through tears and hugged him and replied 'Dev I am so happy to find someone who loves me so much. I don't know why my heart doesn't beat for you like it should. But I do have a lot of respect for you and trust. And maybe this is the starting for my love for you. But I'm happy and I know you will keep me happy' Geet said. Mr Handa watched this from the landing in tears and smiled to himself.

The day of the engagement had arrived. Dev and Geet had gotten engaged infront of friends and family. Geet's best friends Yash, Meera, Arnav and Khushi were there. After the exchange of rings and Geet and Dev's conversation about happiness (Read part1). Geet went to speak with Meera and Khushi, Yash and Meera as they started to tease her being the first in the gang to be married. Geet smiled at them and laughed with them. After a while she noticed that Dev was missing as was her father.

'Where is Dev?' Geet asked her friends as she looked around.

'I know and your father?' Meera wondered. Yash and Arnav looked a bit weary of the missing two people.

'Dev is there look' Khushi noticed as she saw him speaking to guest and smiling. Geet smiled at Khushi and then turned to them and said

'I think Papa might be inside. I'm going to check'

'wait Geet me and Arnav will come with you' Geet nodded as they all left to find her father inside.

Geet towards her father's bedroom and was searching for him. Khushi and Arnav was looking for him downstairs. Arnav grabbed Khushi's arms and pulled her into the guest room downstairs and started to romance her . Geet opened the door of her father's bedroom/

'papa where are you? .. We need to take some photos of my engagement. Papa..' Geet walked in and stopped.

'Papaaa' Geet saw her father on the floor facing the ceiling. His eyes were closed and he was not moving. Arnav and Khushi heard Geet screaming and ran upstairs. Geet went to her father and sat down beside her and checked his breathing when Arnav came in. Geet broken and scared and with a few tears got up and went to Arnav and said

'Arruu look, papa isn't breathing.. why isn't he breathing? Whats wrong with him?' Geet screamed holding his collar. Arnav let Geet speak as he motioned with his eyes for Khushi to check. Geet was crying and screaming. Khushi checked his life signs and nodded negatively.

'Geet…' Arnav began when Geet let go of him and went to her father and kept nudging him

'papa wake up..wake up papa.. your Geetu is getting engaged.. Papa wake up please' Geet kept pleading through her tears. Arnav and Khushi knelt down on either side of her and tried to make Geet listen.

'Geet.. Listen to me…' Arnav said getting her up. Geet looked at him with hope. She didn't want to hear any negative words.

'Geet.. Mohinder Uncle has passed away.. He had died Geet..' Geet looked at Arnav and slapped him. Arnav was sad for his friend and he understood why Geet slapped him as he knew the strong relation she shared with her father.

'NOOO.. Your wrong.. Khushi look what Arnav is saying… Papa is not Dead.. He can't be dead.. How can Papa be dead? Nooo.. He was just with me half an hour ago.. celebrating my engagement…Papa… tell them.. Papa Get uppp'

'Geet…' Khushi cried as she brought Geet into her arms as Geet understood the truth and broke down in her arms.

'papaaa' She cried in Khushi's arms. Khushi motioned to Arnav to call off the party and call Dev Meera and Yash.

'why has papa gone…?' Geet cried as Dev Meera and Yash came into the room. Geet saw Dev and went to him and said

'Papa… Dev,, he left us..why?' Geet cried. Dev was shocked as he held Geet's hands and took her to the sofa and said 'Geet your father is in your heart. He would want you to be happy' That night no one slept. Everyone was shocked and upset. The police and ambulance came and took Mohinder's body away.

Khushi after forcing Geet to drink water with sleeping pills, slept with her as did Meera.

Arnav Yash and Dev stayed in the other rooms.

The following day, Mohinder's body was returned. Arnav and Yash took it for last rights as Dev was away. Geet and Meera and Khushi stayed with Geet. The post mortem was returned.

'The report says, that he died from asphyxiation…Geet your father had asthma right. Maybe he didn't get the pump in time…. Or lost it..' Geet was shocked. She knew her father always had his pump near her.

'But he always has it with him' Geet said suddenly

'but Geet what if he left it somewhere as he was attending the guests?' Geet nodded.

2 days after that Dev returned and saw Geet was playing with her engagement ring. Khushi and Meera were making dinner in the kitchen. Geet was facing her fathers photo.

'Geet' Dev sat down beside her. Geet looked at him. Tears were still in her eyes of losing her father.

'Dev.. I'm so sorry.. our marriage was meant to be this weekend and…everything changed. Papa left me.. I don't know what to do with my life anymore…. I'm not sure if we can get married… Dev I'm so sorry' Geet cried. Dev held her hand and looked at her and calmly replied

'Geet its not about you anymore. Geet I told you the minute I put the ring on your finger that ill be there for you. And also Geet you marrying me was your father's last wish. I don't want to burden you but Geet don't you think you should fulfil your fathers last wish. Give his soul rest'

Geet looked at her fathers picture and him and agreed with him.
