Within seconds Maan gained back his sense and looked shock on seeing the way Sasha held him, he shook her hand out from his and looked at her bewildered, the smile in Sasha's face vanished as she saw the change in Maan, she understood Maan is just the same, thinking of something else he walked, in fact he never realised her presence as he moved into the party, Sasha was making vain attempts to speak to him and on defending herself but he paved no attention to her words or actions and moved out got into his car and left the place in anger, frustration, fear, sadness, all kinds of emotions played through him as he drove back home.
On reaching his house, he got into the kitchen took a bottle of water and drank, as he was drinking his thoughts drifted back to that day in his life where he first saw Geet, a subtle smile passed his lips as he thought of Geet. Sipping in water he sat on an easy chair and was recollecting all good happy days of his life, he felt a spark of energy and vibrancy in him as he remembered himself past 5 long years. Not knowing how and when he tipped off to sleep thinking, recollecting and cherishing all past memories.
Next day was unusual, nothing of such never happened in past five years, Maan Singh Khurrana though always dedicated to work has never gone to office with a sparking spirit, something he gained on meeting Geet and something he lost on losing her was gained back, and to everyone's surprise there was Maan in a high spirited mood, he walked into his cabin took out some old files was going through them frantically. Meanwhile Adi came in wondering on this sudden change in Maan and his interest in old files and accounts.
"Sir?" he asked
Maan looked at him from the files and gestured him in and to sit down.
"Yes Sir?" he repeated
"I was Miss Handa's file" Maan said looking firm
"But sir…"
"Adi just get me that and leave for now"
"Ok Sir" and he left looking rather puzzled.
No one except Maan himself knew what was going through his mind as he smiled thinking of something.
Geet got up rather fresh to her surprise; she looked into the mirror and all what happened the previous night seemed to be dream for her and smiled at the thought of it to be a dream and then wondered at why smiling over a serious matter. She looked again at herself in the mirror and said "Geet you are going mad" and went out to dining hall to join Pinky and her father over breakfast.
"Pinky I want to go for shopping" Geet said
Pinky almost dropped her toast on hearing this, Geet who was sober and sad all these days now wants to go for shopping, and she kept staring at Geet not willing to believe in what she heard.
"Geet?"
"Yeah pinky, I want to shop"
"Ok, sure lets go after breakfast, will go to Karol bagh"
"Fine, I'll be ready in about 10 minutes" saying this Geet went to her room. Pinky and her father kept on staring at the door which she just closed unable to believe the sudden changes happening around.
"Sir Coffee" Adi came in knocking at Maan's cabin waking Maan from deep thoughts, looking at Adi; he smiled and then took the coffee mug and started sipping in coffee.
"Sir, Geet's file" Adi handed over Maan a black file, taking the file Maan flipped through its pages and went through Geet's resume; he seemed to scrutinize her resume as if to catch in some loophole in it.
Adi sat there wondering what Maan is doing and felt an urge to ask but let the urge die than get those fierce glares from Maan.
"How can she not obey the office rules?"
"What sir"
"She left the job without a prior notice, how come, she knows we need to be given a resignation or at least be told by someone her leaving, she did nothing of that sort, call her back"
"But sir it's been 5 years…"
"So? Rules are rules, I was busy with my international projects that means you ought to have called her back but you didn't so when am back I did"
"But sir..." Adi again started "huh, what international project sir?" now Adi seemed utterly confused
"do as I say" Maan cut the conversation and moved into other office matter leaving muddled Adi there to ponder and wonder on how to call back Geet of whom he have no idea about on where is she.
"Pinky might know" he thought and felt like Archimedes to shout in eureka eureka, he felt proud at his own discovery of finding Geet and took his phone to call Pinky, but then gave up the idea of calling and thought of visiting her house and talk in directly, how else can he talk of all these through phone is mere impossible.
Giving sigh he made his way to Pinky's place.
