Part 9

maan and geet were in jeep. Maan was driving. He was in very much anger. What if I hadn't reached on time' he was thinking. He looked her, sitting next to him, down casting her eyes, very quite. Some where he dint like her quietness. He wanted to talk her but he still was in his guilt so din not.

Geet was looking down. Her heart was still beating fast. After about 30 mintues Slowly geet stomach started giving her butterflies. She was not able to sit quite now. She was having overflow of words to speak. It was becoming record now that she was quite more then half hour. Sometimes she was moving her leg sometime whole body. She was not able to sit in one position. Every second she was moving her body. It was irritating maan . He was looking her for 10 minutes and now it was becoming hard him not to shout, but he controlled. But at last his calmness vanished in thin air and he shouted "Tum thik se nahi baith sakti' she immediately sit straight. he felt bad. This time very slow voice he asked

'tum yaah kyu aayi thi'

sorry bolne' she answered in very meek voice as she also could not hear.

"kya..jor se bolo

sorry bolne' she thought, this time she spoke louder but her voice could not go more then a inch far that too in pieces

He stopped jeep in irritation and turned to her ' geet mai jaanta hu tum mujhe insaan nahi samjhti per for your bad luck I am... aur insaano ko sunne ke liye kam se kam itni aawaz toh chahiye hoti hai jo uske kaano (ears) tak pahuche. '

' nahi..woh.. ab mai aapko insaan samjhne lagi hu ' she said innocently looking him.

'achha !! good.. chalo kam se kam mai tumhaari nazro me insaan toh bana.. toh ab iss insaan ko tum ye bataogi..ki tum yaha..inti shaam (evening) me aayi kyu..haan" he started jeep again

'sorry bolne' this time at least it was hearble. She was still very meek like a innocent baby 'who maine us din aapko anjaane me kitna bura bol diya..aur aapko maara bhi toh" sudden her expression changed "waise baar maza aaya..he he he he ..aapko pata hai mujhe laga tha aap koi chor ho.. per baabji ka shukra hai na..ki maine jyada jor se nahi maara tha..hai na"

kyaa..woh zor se nahi tha..tu toh bach gaya maan. ' he thought amazed on her change mood. "ye larki bhi na.. "he shakes his head.

' waise isme meri koi galti nahi thi..aap aaye kyu bina bataye .. maine toh socha papa hai per who toh aap nikle.. who toh achha hai maine shor nahi machhaya warna pata hai kya hota.,.. ek minute .." she kept her both leg on seat, folded and elbow kept on seat back, and turned to him. She was sitting in very casual posture. ' haan mai kya bol rahi thi.. haan..wih toh achha hua maine shore nahi kiya warna paat hai kya hota.. saare parosi aa jaate aur fir aapki who halat hoti ..woh halat hoti ki he he he he ' wase aap itne ajeeb si jagah pe kyu rahte hai.. aap ko aur koi jagah nahi mili kya.. mujhe kuch ho jata toh.. ' he stopped his jeep in a jerk. Why dont know, but he dint like her last line. He felt a pinch in his heart. His mind went few hours back.

Flashback

He was in meeting somewhere when mohindar called him

Mohindar- maan beta..woh geet waha se nikal gayi hai kya..abhi tak ghar nahi aayi

ji?? maan could not understand

mohindar ' beta who tumhe file dene gayi thina..kab tak aayegi..zara baat karwaana

maan still was confused but guessed the matter " aap fikar mat kijiye uncle.. mai geet ko ghar chor dunga" mohindar agreed and cut. Maan as fast as left for main site.

Flashback End

geet was looking maan who was in deep thought. She poked her finger in his shoulder but he dint move. She again did but he again dint response. This time geet got irritated. She pushed horn with such force , maan couldnt keep balance on jeep and it stopped with a jerk.

"GEET..kya kar rahi thi tum "he shouted

"aap meri baat sun nahi rahe thy toh mai kya karti..."

Konsi baat geet" he said irritated

mujhe bhukh lagi hai " she said innocently

"maan closed his eyes. "kya karu mai iis pagal larki ka" he thought.

"jab tumhe pata hai ki raat ko tumhe bhukh lagti hai oh fir yaha aayi kyu " he shouted.

Her eyes got wet. "aap itna jorse kyu bolte ho..dheere nahi bol sakte" she said meekly.

He dint like made her cry.. "maan ye tu kya kar raha hai.. ek toh tune iske sath kitna bura kiya.. fir sorry bhi nahi bola.. ye khud tujhe maafi maangene aayi..aur tu ..fir ispe gussa kar rha hai.. whats wrong with you maan" He cursed himself

maan- thik hai ro mat. Ab nahi gussa karunga... hum bas thori der me ghar pahuch jaayenge

geet- hmm"it was now dark. Geet moved little close to maan. She was fearing of dark.

Maan looked her moving close. "ye tum kya kar rahi ho "

"woh mujhe andhere se dar lagta hai ' she said, without looking him. she was looking around.

"mujhe nahi pata tha..miss geet handa ko kisi chiz se dar bhi lagta hai ' he said with teasing eyes

"nahi, lagta hai na..mai aapko batati hu.. mujhe andhere (darkness), cockroach, chuha (mouse), bandar (monkey), dogs aur haan ...bhoot(ghost) se bahut dar lagat hai.." she said counting on her finger.

Maan smiled. "achha.. geet koi asa bhi jaanwar hai , jisse tumhe dar nahi lagta '

"haa aapse"

maan glared her angrily

she bit her togue. ' meraa matlab hai .. mujhe pahle aapse bhi dar lagta tha per ab nhi lagta ' she said looking corner of her eyes. ' achha who aapne us manger se kya baat ki ' she asked.

'kuch nahi " he said straight " you will see very soon geet "he thought smiling inwardly.

After a hour they reached home. Mohindar shouted her. Then maan going to leave mohindar requested him to stay there for tonight as it was dark. Next morning, geet was ready to go collage when maan said he will give her lift. She agreed. "papa mai jaa rahi hu ' she said and came out .

A man was cleaning outside her house. He was wearing very decent cloths. "ye kon hai ..maine isse pahle kahi dekha hai "geet thought. That man looked her and turned . "oyee teri ..ye toh kal wala manger hai "she remembered. She started laughing loud. It was weird sight. he was in his formal. Wearing mechanic cap on head. Holding a long broom and was cleaning road. All passing people were laughing on him. Maan came out behind her. She was laughing her loud out.

Maan looked her. He could not move his eyes. She was so beautiful he thought. Like morning blue and fresh sky her face was flawless and glowing. Her laugh made him light and satisfied what punishment he gave to that manager. He tried to humiliate geet .. now he will feel more then humiliation. In laugh she hold his hand. She touched him.. it was amazing feeling. It was so soft, but so electrifying. He looked her hand where she hold him. He lost in her sweet touch. He was smiling when geet shook him "maan ..maaan '

haan..he came back

"aapko hasna hai toh thik se haso na.. itna pieces me kyu has rahe ho.. baad me ghar jaake hasoge kya ' she said still laughing

'maan..tu iis larki se dur rah..ye tojhe pagal kar degi ' maan thought and left to jeep. Geet also came afterward and sit still laughing on manager who was totally humiliated now.

After few days

On maan s site a worker met an accident. Maan hurriedly brought him mohindar as it was only big hospital in whole area. Mohindar said him to admit him there for some days. After doing all formalities maan was returning back when he saw geet, in market. She dint look him. She was facing her back to him. He went to her. She did not feel his presence. He noticed , she was staring a man with most concentration. That man was busy in talking on phone. He was not looking her. After some time maan called her 'geet' but she did not hear. He again called her but she again dint move. Maan patted her shoulder "haa" she abruptly looked back.

'relax geet..mai hoo. Tum chuk kyu gayi"

nahi ..woh aap achanak se ' " he looked her face. It looked different

"geet.. tum usse jaanti ho ?' he asked

"kisse maan "

"woh.'.he pointed that man.. ' tum..usse dekh rahi thi na'

haa' she nodded.

' tum jaanti ho usse .."

"haan "

" toh fir jaakar usse baat karo..yaha kyu khari ho '

'par mujh nahi pata maan who kon hai '

maan confused. He noticed she was not in her sense. "geet'

'haa" she again looked that man

"geet chalo yaha se...'

she looked maan and nodded. They left from there. Geet again and again looked back, to that man. 'kon hai who ' she thought and they left.
