She moved outside the party hall… there was river and a bridge.. Which was their favorite meeting stop … she saw maan looking at the moon deeply thinking something.. she wanted to talk with him and ask him what actually happened to him… so she moved towards him with long steps…
She stood next to him not looking at him…. "What happen to you?.." Maan looked at her to see her face was fuming in anger… he knew that she would come and question him… so he was ready for that….
Few Minutes ago after the dance over… Maan came outside and started to curse himself for dancing so intimately with geet…
"She will definitely come and ask many questions…. I was able to read her face… so many questions and some kind of a shock… she was asking me through her eyes… why I did this…. Why can't i control my feelings anymore… I stopped myself many times because I know that this will affect our friendship… but now there is no way out… whatever may happen… I need to express my feelings… how long can I hide this from her… I know she will never accept this… I know her… but I cannot stop now…"
So as expected geet came and asked him the question he was expecting…
"I can see the sudden change in you maan.. you're not the same person who is always shy who never comes in front of public… today.." she stopped herself… she turned her face not having the courage to face him and ask her questions…his eyes were speaking lots… he was just staring at her not getting affected by her outburst…but he was ready… "tod…today… you danced with me… like danci…"
She was stopped when maan completed it
"Like dancing with your lover…. Right…"
She looked at him not able to believe what he said…. "what did you say?"
He kept his hands on her shoulders and made her to face him… "Look in to my eyes geet…. Still can't you understand… my feelings towards you…tell me dam it"
He jerked her… tears started to flow from her eyes… she never seen this side of maan… his anger frustration…today everything is new for her….
"It means…you.." she stammered… "Yes I love you…" he completed it… those three words echoed her ears…
she was not able to take this confessions… "Maan…. you love me…" she pushed his hands away….tears are not stopping from her eyes… "tell me it is not true….tell me…" she replied..
"it is true geet…I love you… more than anyone in this world…you're my life….i know you never had this feeling… but geet I tried many times to forget this feeling but I can't… I can't geet…."
She is totally confused.. she was in shock anger.. she is undergoing turmoil of mixed emotions… she never thought of this.. Loving maan is totally out of her mind… but she cannot lose her only friend like this… bursting out at him is not the solution to this problem… she not having the intention to hurt him… but what should be her answer to this… yes maan is the best person a girl can have as a husband… an ideal husband… but he is not having a proper job… always dreaming high which is not at all practical….
She turned away from him and started to walk like she was in a trance… she didn't say a word… he also not tried to stop her… he knew her pretty well… so he just left her to go…. She walked on the empty roads.. there were no vehicles… Silence total silence…
Her mind was echoing only one thing.. those three words.. "I love you" …. These three words which she never wanted to hear in her life… Love is something unnecessary for her… but her own best friend proposed to her… what she should say… how she should react….
Even sky started to downpour her feeling right now she is going through…. She sat on her knees… in the middle of the road… raindrops are covering her tears…
She started to cry louder… out bursting her feeling to the empty road…
"Why?... why for me?... what should I do now? How can I face him ? what should I tell him? How can I lose my best friend?...why me????... ahhh…."
Then the rain drops stopped to touch her skin…. She looked up to find maan.. Standing with an umbrella in his hand.. covering her from getting wet… she looked into his eyes… she can read his feelings clearly…. He is true always true… but this is not right… he need to first know his responsibilities…. He should be a successful person… she always wanted that… as his best friend she always thought of seeing him as successful person…
She stood up and looked deeply into his eyes… giving a small smile… and he also responded to her smile… both of their eyes are speaking… assuring each other that everything will be alright…
Maan thought to himself.. "Geet… I love you always…that will never change… even if you accept or not… my love for you always remain the same… I promise you that I will never ask you again regarding this.. I can't see tears in your eyes geet… it hurts me a lot…. I always want to see you smile with no worries….Love you geet…. I love you so much…"
He wiped her tears… nodding his head not to cry again… everything he is gesturing to her… she held his hands in her… and looked into his eyes… thinking in her mind about him….
"Maan… I can't love you… your always my best friend.. at the same time I can't hurt you…. You need to be a successful person… I never want to see you fail in your life… you have to think about the future… you have become serious in your life… I will help you in this… but maan our relationship should remain the same.. Never ask me about love again… please maan.." her eyes spoke to him….
He took her hands in his.. like telling her that he will never ask about this to her… both smiled and started to walk holding their hands together….
He decided to not to compel her in this matter… and she decided herself not to hurt him nor accept this relationship…
There was some silence between them as rain was doing the majority of talking. ... More silence prevailed till they reach geet's home…she went near the gate and turned to face him… his eyes were very clam with full of love towards her…. she felt like she is seeing a new maan…. he gave her a cute smile and gestured her to go inside… she also gave her cute smile and closed the gate..went inside…
Her dad was waiting for her…. but she ignored him and went inside her room and locked it… today for her it was a big blow…. She never expected that their friendship which is pure will turn to be like this… but she never blamed maan..
She was lost in the chain of thoughts.. it broken when she heard a knock on the door… she opened it to see her dad … "Dad…"
He came inside and sat on her bed… "Come baby…sit…" she sat beside him and rested her head on his shoulder…. "What is the matter geet? You look sad?"
She started to cry… "Geet please…don't cry..tell me what happened?"
"Dad…Maan proposed to me…" she answered still sobbing…. "I am confused…Dad Please help me…"
He understood the situation and took geet's face in his palms…. Caressing her hair… "Geet… I know that he loves you… he already told me….but when you said that you're not loving him… i didn't say anything about his love…. I thought you need time… but as today he proposed to you…what is your decision?"
He wiped her tears…and said "My decision will never change dad…I cannot love him….he is my friend….i can't….and moreover… I said before itself that he is not taking anything seriously… first he need to come up… he needs to become a great person… but loving him is not possible in this life… I will help him to become a successful person… love I can't… I can't dad…"
He understood the situation of his daughter… he doesn't want to compel her now…geet rested herself on the lap of her dad… drifting into sleep… he looked at his daughter who is sleeping peacefully…. After some time he made her sleep properly and went out…
He took his mobile and dialed maan's number to talk with him…
