That is what happened when his chief asked him to cut all lines of communication with her and he turned rogue on his own agency. Of course their brief marriage ended only after a few months, but still he'd not for one day left her alone in the big city of Rome. (Reminds me of a mobile carrier ad in India where a Pug keeps following a boy, I think)

I have not exposed this part of the story yet, all of this will be revealed soon in more detail and from different perspectives.
