For all the times you made us smile,

For bringing out the lost child,

For your cute expressions, for your love,

For the strength that had us clubbed!

For all those burning hot stares,

For the times you showed your care;

For the strength of your character,

For making us drool as you got hotter!

For the love that made us swoon,

For the tears and smiles that were a boon,

For the friends we found through you,

For the dreams we wove due to you;

Here is a li'l something, though you deserve much more than this,

'Coz undoubtedly, You're worth it!

'Coz You're worth it!!

This was it! This was the beginning of the end and it wasn't how she wanted it to be. She wanted to gather, to grope as many happy memories as possible. It was the end of a very important Chapter of her life. It was the completion of the chapter that made her what she was now. It was the completion of the phase that made her complete, that made her grow out of her shell, that made her independent, that taught her how to smile through tears, and how to fight her fears. The chapter that made her learn how to revel in victory, and how to cope with loss, the chapter that gave her the biggest gift of her life-the gift that completed her. And today, she felt incomplete, for it was the completion of the chapter, but the gift had slipped out of her hands. She had her life, her support system, but the bark that supported these branches wasn't there!

She was just 21, yet she felt she had grown, grown in the past three years. When she had joined college, she had never in her wildest dreams expected anything of this sort. Never had she considered the possibility that 3years could change her the way they had. If she tried explaining to someone outside, they would laugh at her, but she knew deep within that she had changed. She had seen the highs and lows, she had heard peels of laughter from herself, and loud wails. One thing that had remained constant was him. But, even that was lost now!

Her college life was going to end soon. Always the emotional kind of girl, she had huge plans for their last fest in college. Her group, their group, had agreed whole-heartedly. They had decided to enjoy to their heart's content, laugh till their sides hurt, dance till their feet gave up, and forget everything for three days to make them the most memorable three days of their lives with each other.

But, then something had changed. She should have seen it coming. There was too much pressure-of the future, the uncertainty, the impending entrance into the big-bad world, the responsibilities that were just waiting to be dropped onto their shoulders. There had been distances, and they had been growing. He was becoming irrational, he was becoming dominating. True, she loved to bow down to his dominating nature, but only when he was rational, not or his illogical reasons. He had no time for her, he was too busy with his ECA work. And then suddenly that day, he had almost told her that he was a burden to him. She could never take the allegation that she was imposing herself on anyone. So, she had left silently, not answering him back, not bothering to.

He hadn't come after her either. So, just like that, it was all over. Within the blink of an eye, they were together no more. It had been two weeks now. They couldn't go away practically since they studies in the same college, in the same batch, in the same course. They just had one subject different, and that was what kept her going; getting that one lecture break from finding him in the same room, yet not with her. In the beginning of the year, she fought and ensured that they had most of their tutorials together, despite the different combinations they had, so,now, she also had to sit through those, with just 4-5 people separating them. She had been holding herself together. But, it was the annual fest now, their last fest in college, the one they had made such elaborate plans for. It was their time, and here she was, on the first day of the four-day thing, with the last event of the day about to begin, sitting and reflecting on the day that had just passed, the first day, only to realize painfully that she had not enjoyed even a bit. Its not like she didn't have friends, she did. In fact, she had some of the best friends one could ever ask for. It were their common friends, for they had been best friends before they could be something more. Her friends chose to stand by her instead of him, for they knew she wasn't at fault. They had relentlessly tries to cheer her up through the day and she had put up a convincing faade for them so that they would enjoy. She had her own suspicions that they knew it was a faade but had gone with it as they knew she would feel mightily guilty if she spoiled their fest. But, through the fake smiles, she hadn't enjoyed herself, and as far as she knew, neither had he. He was nowhere to be seen through the day, and from what she had heard, he wasn't doing any better than her. But, boy! That guy could hide his pain! Only his closest friends had seen through it all.

As she sat there, waiting for the last event to begin, she couldn't help get lost into the memories of happier times. She was brought out of her reverie when Manashi, one of her friends, nudged her and said, "Enough Geet! The while day you have been lost. That smile of yours has been fake but we didn't say anything coz we understand. But, please, for us, atleast try to enjoy yourselves! This is your fav event!"

Looking at the pain in Manashi's eyes, at her plight, Geet decided to try to be happy. It was indeed her favourite event, "47 seconds to fame". There was no way you could get bored here, for there wasn't any time to get bored. Anyone could go up on stage any go anything, anything to entertain the audience in 47 seconds. Not a second more, and no one took any less! People would do all sorts of things, though singing, dancing and mimicry were still the preferred ways to "fame" as they liked to call it!

The event began, people cheered, laughed as contestants after contestants sand, danced, did stand-up comedy, played drums, bottles, even mikes. Then came the devil himself. How could Geet forget? Maan was an awesome dancer, and so he had to be there. He was a mini-celebrity, at learst in his department for his dancing skills. Add to it his bulid, and his killer attitude, and he was sure to sail to the finals. She watched mesmerized as he danced and forgot what happened in the past few days, as she cheered for him. He looked at her, in the crowd of over 500, he looked at her directly and the expression on his face seemed unreadable even to her, the one for whom his face was an open book. Then she felt the pain, the numbing pain that she had been suppressing through these days. She wanted to leave, but stayed on for her friends, who were looking at her with sorry expressions. It wasn't their fault and if she left, she was sure they would follow. A small part of her wanted to stay, to watch him perform again, and that small part also wanted him to win.

Putting up a small smile, she stayed on. The finals began, the contestants started with their respective talents, a notch higher than their previous performances. He was to perform 4 th amongst the final six.

As the third girl left amongst loud cheers, and applause, her heart was thudding in her ribcage and she didn't want to think why! He came on stage, and she knew he would have to up his game to win. He had a chance and she knew that. He came on stage and instead of music, he asked for a mike. She was confused, as was everyone else. They all thought he wants to speak before he performs, so everyone listened intently.

Maan's heart was thudding, rather trying to break out of his body. He danced decently well, he knew that! But, what he was planning to do now was not his forte by any means. But, it had to be done, he wanted to do it. Blocking out all noises, he started.

"hey all! Hope you are enjoying Winterfest 2012?"

A resounding cheer of "Yes" reached his ears and he continued.

"I know you all are waiting for me to dance, but I will do something that I like more than it, though I am not good at it. I know it sounds stupid, but its something that I am doing for myself, and hence I will do what I Love!"

As a murmur of protests and curious discussions broke out, Geet knew what he was going to do. He was going to sing! He loved to sing, always had, but he wasn't as endowed in the singing department as he was in dancing. So, he never sang in front of people. For her however, he had always been the most beautiful voiced singer, for his voice had honesty, and his emotions were reflected clearly when he sang. She was one of the few fortunate people who had heard him sing several times, and every time it had left her smiling. But, why would he sing now? Today? On the stage?? When he knew he could win this through his dance, why did he want to sing? His next words answered her question.

"This is for you Geet! "

Na hai yeh pana
Na Khona hi hai
Tera Na hona jane
Kyun hona hi hai

Her breath hitched in her throat, her time with him was running like a movie in her mind. He was swaying gently, looking her in the eye, and his voice was conveying the truth of his words to her, as he knew it would.

Tum se hi din hota hai
Surmaiye shaam aati
Tumse hi tumse hi

Har ghadi saans aati hai
Zindagi kehlati hai
Tumse hi tumse hi

He was doing it. He was laying himself bare in front of the whole world, for her. But, he wasn't bothered for he knew that if there was anyone who could read the how vulnerable he felt at that moment, it was the girl who was staring in his eyes, with unshed tears. Though he could still see the love shining in her eyes, he wasn't sure if she would give him that love again, for he had hurt her, and hurt her badly.

Na hai yeh pana
Na Khona hi hai
Tera Na hona jane
Kyun hona hi hai

Aankhon mein ankhne teri
Bahoon mein baahein teri
Mera na mujhe mein kuch raha hua kya
Baaton mein baatein teri
Raatein saugatein teri
Kyun tera sab yeh ho gaya hua kya

It was true! There was nothing left in him that didn't belong to her. He, his mind, his heart, his soul, everything belonged to her. She had filled him with so much love, and hope, that once he pushed her away, all he was left with was darkness.

Mein kahin bhi jata hoon
Tumse hi mil jata hoon
Tumse hi tumse hi

Every corner of the college held some memory, memory of her laughter, her childish antics, as she pranced around, played with the karamchaaris kids, taught them, played in the rain, with the flowers, or just sat silently enjoying nature.

Shoor mein khamoshi hai
Thodi se Behoshi hai
Tum se hi tum se hi

His life had truly turned silent without her. He was never the one to speak much. It was her who kept on talking to him, filling his life with her jokes. Without her he was lost, behosh, in all senses.

Aadha sa wada kabhi
Aadhe se jayada kabhi
Jee chahe karlu is trah wafa ka
Chode na chote kabhi
Tode na tute kabhi
Jo dhaga tumse jud gaya wafa ka

He was asking forgiveness for what he had done, for disrespecting her, for lwtting her walk away, for not keeping his promise, for not coming after her. He was now moving towards the end on the stage, while she was being dragged to the stage by a bunch of their friends.

Mein Tera sarmaya hoon
Jo mein ban paya hoon
Tumse hi tumse hi

He got down on his knees in front of her and lowered his head acknowledging his mistake, hoping she would forgive him, and give her hand in his again, make his hand feel alive again with the warmth that only she could provide, the warmth that he craved. When she did, he looked up and despite knowing that she would kill him later for it, he got up, and hugged her tightly.

Raste miljate hai
Manzile miljati hai
Tumse hi tumse hi

Na hai yeh pana
Na Khona hi hai
Tera Na hona jane
Kyun hona hi hai

He had finally brought his mishti, his love, back in his arms, where she belonged. She had hugged him back, too dazed sue to the moment but within 2 seconds, she was pulling away, as he had expected, with an adorable blush adoring her cheeks. He so wanted to pull her back into his arms, but the loud cheers, and a thumbs up signal from his friends reminded him that this was not the place.

She was shocked, happy, embarrassed, all at the same time.

Shocked, for what he had done. Happy for her world seemed to be all rosy again. And Embarrassed because besides the 500 students present there, there was also two teachers from their department, and more importantly, the Principal was seated there.

She just hid herself behind him and lowered her head as he dragged her away from the stage. The show had resumed, for they had already taken up much more than 47 seconds, but no one had had the heart to stop him looking at what he was doing. So, as soon as she was out of the auditorium, into the empty hallway, since everyone was inside, he was back in his arms, crushed to him, as he fiercely hugged her, apologizing profusely in his ears, telling he was sorry and that he would never let his tensions come in between them. She knew it all, she had seen his apology in his eyes, she had felt his love in his words, and she knew, that even if they fought again, they would again get back together.

As she pulled away, she tried to glare, and shouted, "What was that Maan? Did you forget who all were there?"

As he just smirked at her blushing form, telling her through his eyes that he didn't care what they thought, she just hit him lightly in the chest, and hid herself there, whining, " Our friends will never let is see the end of this"

He laughed lightly and agreed.

She then scolded him again, "Idiot! You could have apologized to me when we were alone, or at some other time. Why did you have to throw away your chance of winning for this?"

He just said what he truly believed, "I would give up much more for you Geet, 'Coz you're worth it!"

She couldn't help the warmth that spread through her as he took her in his arms again, and she stayed there happily, silently murmuring to him, "Happy Anniversary Maan! Two years ago, on this very day I got you for the first time, and two years later, I got you once again!", and was rewarded with a light kiss and a chain around her neck, with two hearts with their initials, and she knew, they were meant to be together.

This one(the stage part), is a true instance that I had the fortune of witnessing! It was such a beautiful moment, when 500 people sat in pin-drop silence and watched as a first year student this this for his gf.

If not obvious by now, this one is my dedication to Maaneet, to Geet Hui Sabse parayi, to the whole team, to the whole forum, for making their way into my life!

Please let me know what you feel.

Love you all!

Swati

Well...finally...ur siso is here...i took forever but u know how it is...

sigh...hmmm...i am actually thinking of what to say but i really don't know what to say...

The story was simple but written beautifully...u wrote about a very important phase of Maan and geet's life...college or university is a place where we usually find ourselves..and sometimes friends for life..we go through the ups and downs...like u said...i loved the way u wrote...i loved it...😊 i will be honest in saying that more than maan and geet..i was thinking about the importance of the phase a person goes through through their post-secondary days...

and and..the poem in the beginning...so awesome 😃

i actually have more thoughts on this...but i give them to u when we talk later😉

Love you sisooo😳
