CHAPTER 5
Recap:
Geet: Nahi Pinky. Mujhe nahi jaana. Tujhe jaana hai toh jaa, mera mood nahi hai.
Pinky: Arey aise kaise mood nahi hai? Mein akele kaisa jaon? Tu chal bas. Waise bhi tera din bohot kharab ghuzra hain.
Pinky pulled Geet out to the car and drove to the club.
---
Geet sat in the passenger seat indulged in her own thoughts while Pinky whistled along to the song playing in the car.
Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_0Ayvli5iw (listen to this please, I just thought it was funny)
Lyrics:
Ek Ladki Chahiye Khaas Khaas
Par Ho Woh M.A Paas Paas
Laakhon Mein Ek Haseena Ho
Har Waqt Rahe Mere Aas Paas
Uska Standard Bhi High Chahiye
Mujhko Aisi Hi Fi Ek Lugayi Chahiye
Mujhko Aisi Hi Fi Ek Lugayi Chahiye
Ek Ladka Chahiye Khaas Khaas
Ho L.L.B.A Paas Paas
Laakhon Mein Ek Deewana Ho
Har Waqt Rahe Mere Aas Paas
Uska Standard Bhi High Chahiye
Mujhko Aisa Hi Fi Jandmahi Chahiye
Mujhko Aisa Hi Fi Jandmahi Chahiye
Gol Gol Chehra Ho Aankhen Bilauri
Allahmiya Bhej Koyi Roop Ki Tijori
Gol Gol Chehra Ho Aankhen Bilauri
Allahmiya Bhej Koyi Roop Ki Tijori
Ho Mere Rabba Karishma Dikha De
Kisi Dilwale Se Kundli Mila De
Uska Standard Bhi High Chahiye
Mujhko Aisa Hi Fi Jandmahi Chahiye
Mujhko Aisa Hi Fi Jandmahi Chahiye
Dil Mera Kehta Hain Ladka Ho Aisa
Saare Shaher Mein Na Ho Koi Waisa
Hai Sone Ka Bangla Ho Chaandi Ki Gaadi
Lakh Sawa Lakh Ki Usne Baandhi Ho Saadi
Rab Di Kasam Nahin Chodunga Mauka
Jaane Na Doonga Mile Ek Baari
Uska Standard Bhi High Chahiye

"Geet tujhe kaisa ladka chahiye?" Pinky asked in all the excitement of the song.
Geet gave a stern look towards Pinky and replied harshly, "Pinky tujhe pata hai mujhe in sab cheezo mein koi interest nahi hai. Puri dunya ek jaisi hoti hai aur mard bhi aise hi hote hain. Sab paison ke peeche baaghte hai.. issi ka naam success and happiness hota hai. No one deals with matters of the heart anymore."
Pinky: Geet tu bhi na. Chal chor, club aagaya hai. Tu andar jaa, main car park karke aati hoon.
Geet: Nahi Pinky, mein akele andar nahi jaa rahi. Tere yaheen bahar wait kar loongi. Tu jaldi se aana.
Pinky: Geettt... tu itna kyun dar rahi hai? Tu Geet Handa hain! Ab andar jaa aur jaake enjoy kar. Mein bas 5 minute mein aayi.
Accepting defeat, Geet dragged herself inside the night club. As soon as she came in, she caught the eyes of many lustful eyes. She felt uncomfortable and decided to head towards the bar at the back and wait for Pinky to come.
A man on the dance floor watched her route until she reached her seat and walked over to her with a smirk. He stood right in front of Geet, with his back towards her. All of a sudden he fell backwards as if he were pushed by someone. Geet tried pushing him off after she realized what had just happened.
Man: Oh ... I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to.
Geet: It's ok. I'm fine.
Man: Of course it's not ok. You know what, I'll buy you a cocktail for compensation?
Geet: Uhh.. no thanks. I don't drink ... especially with strangers.
She tried moving away a little from him while her eyes searched for Pinky, but the man ordered for her anyway.
Man: Fine then. I'll buy you a mocktail, just for my mistake.
Geet gave in seeing that the man was adamant and she was not in the right state of mind to be arguing right now. Little did she know that the man had indeed ordered a cocktail with extra nasha in it. (sorry.. not a drinker or anything, so don't exactly know what makes you completely lose your senses in one glass.) He gave the glass to Geet and she starting drinking it while the man gave her a lustful glance with a nasty smirk on his face just waiting for her to lose control.
Meanwhile...
Maan had been sitting at the side, while Adi was on the dance floor. He was also eyeing the angel that had walked in and went straight to the back at the bar. He knew she was Geet Handa and thought it was typical showbiz behavior to accept a drink from a complete stranger and give in so easily. But he was surprised to see her hesitance. He couldn't help but feel a sting in his heart, seeing her with another man.
Maan Self-Thought: Maan, tu pagal hogaya hai kya. Apne aap par kaabu rak. Tujhe kyun problem ho rahi hai agar wo kisi aur ke saath hai. Tu itni fikar kyun kar raha hai uski? Who uska boyfriend bhi toh hosakta hai. Nahi, he can't be. Look at the way he's looking at her. He looks like some dirty sleaze bag. Agghhh ... MAAN! Hosh mein aaja! Nazar hata apni.. Hata.. Maann ... Nazar hata!
Maan was having a fight with himself in his head, when he saw Geet getting a little tipsy and the man started to hold her from the waist. He watched as the guy started pulling her to the dance floor. But when he saw Geet's resistance even in this drunk state, he couldn't hold himself back anymore. He charged towards them and punched the guy right in the nose.
Man: Hey! What's the big idea?! Why the heck did you hit me?
Maan: Because you're touching MY FIANCE!
Maan gritted through his teeth scaring the guy away. He didn't know why such authority and possessiveness came over him. He didn't know why he wanted to protect her and lie for her, but he reasoned it as human instincts. He caught hold of Geet as she was about to fall with all the drunkenness taking a toll on her. He walked her out of the club and called Adi to find out where the car was since he had the spare keys also. He knew he couldn't leave Geet here like this, and he wasn't enjoying much there either.
He tried walking her to the car, but she was too tipsy to think straight, let alone walk. He eventually picked her up when he had to cross the road. She flung her arms out in the air, making it hard for Maan to walk straight.
Maan: Geet aise nahi karo. Haath neeche karo. Geett!
Geet replied in a talli tone: Kya hai? Tum mujhe daant kyun rahe ho? Neeche utaro mujhe! Abhi! Mujhe, mujhe ... umm ... mein kya bol rahi thi? .. Haan! Tum, tumm ... *She put her hand on her chin as if in deep thought.
Maan couldn't help but smile at this sherni.
Maan mumbled to himself: Aur mujhe laga yeh sirf hosh mein itni akdoo hain.
Geet: Akdoo??! Tumne mujhe ... mujhe akdoo kaha?? Utharo mujhe abhi!
They had reached the passenger seat of the car now and put her down so he could open the door. But Geet lost her balance and fell on the floor. Maan held his head in frustration. This girl was driving him crazy. And on top of that Geet started crying like a baby.
Geet while crying: Tumne mujhe gira diya! Mein tumse ghussa. Jao!
Maan sat down next to her seeing her childish antics.
Maan: Geet tum yahaan kaise baith sakti ho aur woh bhi akele. Chalo utho. Mein tumhe ghar drop kar deta hoon.
He tried holding her arms to make her stand, but she snapped out and sat back down with a pout in protest.
Geet: Nahii. Mein nahi jaongi! Mein tumhari shikayat karoongi ... Haan! Apne babaji se boloongi ke tum mujhe kitnaaa kitnaaa tung karte ho. *she said while stretching her arms out to exaggerate how much*
Her face lit up all of a sudden with that evil idea. The twinkle did not go unnoticed.
Maan looked at her in amusement and decided to play along, since he was enjoying this innocent sherni like this.
Maan: acha ... kisse shikayat karogi? Apne babaji se? Toh tum apne mama papa se jaake bolo na, who sahi se mujhe sazaa denge phir.
With a dipped head and tears starting to form in her eyes, Geet replied in a low voice, "Mere mama papa nahi hai. Meine unhe kho diya. Jab mein bohott choti tab.Tumhe pata hai ke kitna dard hota hai jab aap ke paas koi nahi ho aapke sar pe haath rakne wala. Jab koi aapko support naa kare aur aap iss puri duniya se akele larthe ho ... pata yaha.. yaha pe kitnaaa dard hota hai *she pointed to his heart* ... Nahi pata na aapko. Mein bataa ti hoon *she said now pointing to herself and again stretching her hands wider and wider*. Itna.. itna nahi.. isse bhi zyaada takleef hoti hai. Aapko pata hai?
She looked at him like his answer would make all the pain go away. Before Maan could respond, he felt a drop of rain fall on his face.
Precap: Please choose 1

CHAPTER 3
Recap: She didn't meet his gaze again even though she knew that he was staring at her. He watched her retreating form as the two girls left the coffee shop. He felt the need to go after her. He had to admit that he was in awe of this girl. He didn't know girls still had that kind of self-respect in today's world. He thought all girls to be attention hungry and only dying to be touched. But he decided to ignore his conscience and go back to ordering his coffee again since he had a headache too now.
4 hours later...
Maan had now chugged down his 7th cup of coffee. Adi was already half asleep on the table with his occasional "hmm" and "haa" to accompany Maan.
MAAN: uski itni himmat ke ussne Maan Singh Khurana se aise baat ki? Samaj thi kya hain apne aap ko? Itni bari aankhein karke baat kar rahi thi jaise koi ladki nahi, Jhansi ki raani ho. Hmph
Adi's ears perked up when he heard the word "ladki" from Maan's mouth.
ADI: Maan, tu ne pehle kabhi kisi ladki ki baat ka itna bura nahi mana, toh phir aaj kya hogaya tujhe. *Adi said in a teasing tone*. Waise, tu bhool raha hai ke yaha per tu sirf aur sirf Maan hai. Tu apna surname America mein chor ke aa chuka hai apne dad ke paas.
Adi's words hit Maan right in the gut because he knew it was true. He was nothing without his dad's name, and that's why he left his home. He wanted to create an image for himself and not live in the shadow of his surname.
ADI: Chal chor in sab baaton ko. Ghar chal. Bohot der hogayi hai.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Geet had returned from the shoot 3 hours later. She had been trying to go to sleep for the past 2 hours now but it was no use.
Geet Monologue:
How could I just break down like that? How can a stranger so easily break through me and uncover all those wounds? Woh purana zakham jo maine saalon pehle hi apne zindagi se nikal ke paink diya tha. Woh dard jo sirf mere raaste ki rukawat thi. Who pal joh mujhe sirf kamzor banathe hain. This was the first time in years that someone had made Geet Handa cry. No, this was the first time in years that someone made Geet cry. Just Geet. Lekin, uski baaton se mujhe itna farak kyun par raha hai? Aakhir who bhi toh un hazaaro mard mein se ek hi hai jinhe dusron ko sirf takleef pohchana aata hai.
Khair, inn baaton ab mere liye koi maiyne nahi hai. Kal mere liye bohot bara din hai. Mere naye show ki auditions aur uske saath mere sapne ki poori hone ki tamanna.
End Monologue
With all these thoughts running through her mind, Geet's eyes gave way and she eventually drifted off to a disturbed slumber.
Meanwhile...
Maan was having similar troubles falling asleep. He couldn't bare the insult, but couldn't quite put his finger on what was really bothering him.
Maan's Monologue:
Yeh mujhe kya hogaya hain? Kyun mein itna soch raha hoon uske bare mein? Woh ek ladki hi toh thi, bas. Ladkiyon ki toh aadat hoti hai, ladko ko darana dhamkana dhaantna. Chahe unki hi ghalti kyun na ho. Aur pehli baar thori na kisi ladki ne mujh par chilaya hai. Haan, maa bhi toh kitna chilati ti mujh par chote mein.
*Thinking about his mother made Maan teary and all of a sudden Geet's eyes flashed in front of him.*
Why can't I get those eyes out of my thoughts? Arrghhh!! Woh aankhen... itni gehri thi jaise mein uski dil ki masoomiat ko parh sakoon. Lekin woh mujhe itna kuch suna gayi. Who aur masoom? Kuch match nahi hota. Khair, jane do. Mujhe konsa usse zindagi mein milna hain. Woh apne raaste, mein apne raaste.
End Monologue
Maan drifted off to sleep with a wide smile on his face...content that he would never have to deal with that disaster again. Or so he thought.
Adi came in bright and early in the morning yelling, "MAAN MAAN MAAN! Uth Maan!!!" He opened the curtains so the lights would hit Maan's face. Maan hid himself under the blanket and responded in a sleepy tone, "Kya hain. Aaj toh sone de aaram se yaar. Itni lambi raat thi aur aaj kahin jaane ka plan bhi nahi hai. Tu jaa yaha se abhi."
Adi: Acha bacchu. Meri neend ko kharab kar ke khud sahab zaade so rahe hain. Teek hai. So jao. Phir mat bolne ke maine tumhe pehle kyun nahi bataya.
Maan got up immediately.
Maan: Kya... kya nahi bataya?
Adi: Are nahi nahi, tu so aaram se. Mein office jaa raha hoon.
Maan: Adi pakaa mut yaar. Seedhe seedhe bata na kya bolne aaya tha?
Adi: Hahahehe (typical Adi style).. Acha sun. Yeh dekh.
(ignore the name... I just got the image online đ)
Adi: This could be your golden opportunity!
Maan grabbed the poster from his hands and read through it carefully. He was in utter shock.
MAAN: Adi, this is a HANDA production. Do you understand what that means??? No of course you don't. Mein batata hoon. This could be my golden opportunity!
Adi looked at Maan making an "I think I just said that" look, but decided against saying anything because he knew how much this meant to Maan.
Maan: Adi, Geet Handa is the biggest name in all the Bollywood producers! I can't let this slip from my hands. OMG. What am I still doing in bed? Move. I gotta go shower. Do I look decent? Maybe I should shave too. Aaahhh... Man, I love you dude!!
Maan gave Adi a quick hug and jumped out of bed, grabbing his towel and clothes and heading to the bathroom. Adi smiled at Maan knowing that this was the chance he's been waiting for all his life. Now he could finally take a big leap towards his dream instead of the small steps he's been taking for the last 6 years.
Adi: I hope all your dreams come true Maan. You deserve them. I'm proud of you buddy. Make us proud. And I hope you find the support someone who can take your talent to new heights and fill that void in your life that you don't even know exists.
Precap: Stoppp!! No!... next!... never!... next!... someone shoot me!... next!...Oh boy, we're in for a longgg day.
Pheww... I hope that was a long enough update! Please tell me how it was. Some of you guys have the right idea on where the story is going.. but there are a few twists and turns coming up! So stay tuned! And of course suggestions and/or demands are always taken into consideration.
And a big big big đ¤ and thank you to all the people who liked and commented! It really motivates me a lot! Thank you ssooo much. Please giving me your love and support!
CHAPTER 4
Recap:
Adi: I hope all your dreams come true Maan. You deserve them. I'm proud of you buddy. Make us proud. And I hope you find the support someone who can take your talent to new heights and fill that void in your life that you don't even know exists.
Auditions had been going on for almost 6 hours now, and Geet's frustration had no bounds at this point.
Geet: Stoppp! No! ... Next! ...Never! ... Next! ' Someone shoot me! ' Next! ' Pinky bring a gun! '. Next! '. Oh boy, we're in for a longgg day! Actually, you know what, this audition is over. Tell everyone outside that this audition is moving to Delhi. People in Mumbai are talentless. Sab sar utha kar chale aate hai jaise kisi ki shaadi mein aaye hain. Ab kare kare mera mu kya dekre ho? Tum ne suna nahi maine kya kaha! Jao!
The guards rushed out to announce ,"This audition has been cancelled. Ms. Handa has declared that the audition will be moving to Delhi now. So clear out."
All Maan's dreams came crashing down in that one statement.
Maan without thinking, charged towards the door where the guards were retreating towards.
Maan: Oye! Hello! How can your Ms. Handa do that? She can't just take away the chance of a lifetime from half the Mumbai population! That's not fair!
Guards: Sir. Don't make a scene. Her decision is final. Come to Delhi if you're that desperate. Now move out of the way!
Geet came outside hearing all the hustle and bustle. She came towards the back of what seemed like a man who was arguing with the guards.
Geet: What's going on here? Excuse me, why are you creating such a fuss mister? Auditions are over. I can't take the talentless people anymore! Now get out!
Maan turned around to the familiar voice and his eyes widened in shock, as did Geet's.
Both at the same time , "TUM!"
Maan was the first to break away from the eyelock. This could not be happening, he thought to himself.
Maan: You're Geet Handa??!
Geet: Haan toh!? Nahi ho sakti? *Geet said after coming out of the reverie shortly after Maan*
Maan: But you're.. your're' Aghh forget it! How can you do this to us? How can you judge the rest of us based on the performances of others?? You could be giving up a talent that brought many dreams with them. Don't do this. I'm sure someone gave you a chance when you were a struggler.
Geet bitterly replied, "No. No one ever gave me a chance. I am what I am because of my efforts only. It was always me, myself, and I. No one was there to support me."
Maan: So you want all the other strugglers to face the same hardship you once faced and become rough and tough like you. The person that probably has no friends and probably will never smile.
Geet: Are you trying to persuade me or insult me? Give me one good reason why I should give you a chance? Is it because you spilled your coffee on me? Or is it because you're creating a tamasha in front of my audition site? Or is it because you have nothing?
This time Maan was hit hard with Geet's words. She saw his expressions change from determination to anger to frustration and then finally to helplessness.
Geet: Fine. I'm done for today. Guards, tell all these people that they can come back tomorrow. Auditions will continue. Happy? But on one condition, Mister'
Maan: Maan. My name is Maan.
Geet: Right. Maan. You will be the last contestant. After alll these people. Because like you said, everyone deserves a fair chance. And since you stood up for all these people, I'm sure you would want to give them a chance before you show your own talent. Mhmm?
Geet said as she patted Maan's shoulder in sympathy and left from there, leaving Maan's mouth open. He couldn't believe the guts this girl had. Though they both felt a slight shock with the contact, they decided their other emotions were overpowering it.
Adi came to pick Maan up after Maan called him up and explained the situation.
Adi couldn't help but laugh at the wits this girl had.
Maan: Haan haan tu hasle. Jab ho jaey na toh bata dena. Pata nahi in jaise logon ke sar pe char jaata hai success and money. Samaj thi kya hai apne aap ko? Mein.. Mein' end mein kara hojaon line ke itni dhoop mein! Agar aaj hi jaane diya hota toh I would have gone after just a few people. Tujhe pata hai, she even had the guts to touch me! Koi aur hota na, toh uske haat kaat ke phenk deta.
Adi amused at Maan's ramblings asked, "Toh who koi aur nahi thi? Matlab tu usse jaanta tha tho issi liye chor diya? Hmm?" He put an extra emphasis on "koi aur".
Maan : Tu chup kar. Uska decision hoga kal issi liye chor diya. Warna toh main..
Adi cut him off, "Haan pata hai.. uske haat kaat ke phenk deta. I know. Chal let's go to my office. I have a few meetings to take care of and then we can go to a night club or something. Tu filhaal kisi board room mein practice karlena. Ok?"
Maan just nodded absentmindedly as he was still thinking about the interaction back at the theatre. He didn't know himself why he was talking it out with her. He didn't know why he didn't just scream in her face and insult her until she ran home and cried in her mother's lap. He justified it as he said to Adi, because she was the producer and could control his future.
Geet went back into the theatre where there was now no one. She sat in the front row seats thinking about Maan's words and their interaction. She had no idea why or how she opened up so quickly to him-- a stranger.
Flashback (imagine she's seeing it on the stage in front of her):
"Papaji!" Geet yelled running to her father's body that lay on the floor. Blood all over her hands and she hugged her father.
Geet's mother: Chal ladki. Ab tu chup chap mere saath chale gi aur sab kuch waise hi karegi jaisa mein kahoon. Tere baap ko tho meine kaam khatam kar diya. Ab tu mujhe majboor mat karne. Tu ab meri zindagi se nikal. Yeh saari jaaidat meri hojaayegi. Chal, inn papers par sign kar. Isse wasiat ke saare hisse mere naam hojayenge. Aur iss pe bhi. Yeh theri orphanage ke liye papers.
Her mother drove her to the orphanage after she had signed the papers and pushed her out of the car with her belongings, since she had taken care of the paperwork as soon as she got the signatures.
Geet ran after the car with her small feet yelling and screaming for her mother to come back and embrace her with love. She tripped over a rock and fell to the ground with her hands reaching for the car that became a blur in front of her eyes as she fainted.
Flashback end
Geet came back to reality with her hands reached out again and this time, tears blurring her vision.
She had witnessed her own mother shoot her father for the sake of money at the fragile age of 8. Her mother was relentless and didn't care for her own family. She saw nothing but money and power.
Geet grew up on her own with the harshness of the orphanage and the unfriendly administrators. But there was one person who had always been by her side. And that was the lady whom she called dadima.
Dadima was Geet's drama teacher and urged her through all the tough times in life. She encouraged her to live life to the fullest and let out everything in her acting. Influenced by her, Geet had pursued her interest in production. She was a great actress, but she was more interested in creating the story and helping others to live life to the fullest. But she had lost that will to live after dadima had fallen ill and was called by her son back to America for better treatment.
That was the memory that Maan had awakened in her. The sweet and sour memory of her mother and then her dadima. The reason behind her downfall and then the reason for her success.
But she lost track of that will to live. And Maan had brought that back. She realized that she had become ruthless in all these years, and he had brought the old Geet back.
Geet self-thought: No, I can't do this. I can't go back to the old Geet. That Geet is dead. She is no more. The weak and fragile Geet, the bubbly and full of life Geet is dead. Now I am Geet Handa. That's right. And no Maan is going to change that.
"Geet! Geet! Are you in here?" Pinky came in yelling into the theatre room. "Geet, tu yaha akele andhere mein kyun baiti hai? Chal.. tujhe andhere mein rehna ka itna hi shok haina toh club chal. Waha andhera toh hai lekin mazaa bhi aayega!"
Geet: Nahi Pinky. Mujhe nahi jaana. Tujhe jaana hai toh jaa, mera mood nahi hai.
Pinky: Arey aise kaise mood nahi hai? Mein akele kaisa jaon? Tu chal bas. Waise bhi tera din bohot kharab ghuzra hain.
Pinky pulled Geet out to the car and drove to the club.
Geet: OUTTT!!!!!
Auditions were not going well and Geet was getting very frustrated. Good thing she saw Maan's brilliant practice this morning. It kept her hopes high, that at least when he comes, she'll hit the jackpot. But because of her big fat ego, she had to make him be last.
Pinky: Geet yeh toh kal se bhi bura audition hai yaar. Kuch kar na!
Contestant in background started to sing and dance: Aye meriii' umm' teerriii meriii
Geet: Stop!! Are you singing or crying at a funeral??? And you call those steps?? It looks like you're stepping on thumb tacks! Get lost! This is not a kindergarten talent show. Pata nahi kahaan kahaan se aa jate hain log!
Maan stood outside seeing the last person walk out with a long face. It was finally his turn. He took a deep breath and walked towards the stage. He was nervous like this was the first time he'll be audition.
Maan: Chal Maan. It's now or never. You're already on her bad side, ab teri skills hi tujhe bacha sakti hain! Come on! Come on!
He walked in talking to himself but maintained his tiger like stride and walked towards the stage.
Geet: Jaldi karo! I don't have all day for you!
She tried sounding as professional and irritated as possible, but her insides were jumping in joy. She had a gut feeling that this was going to be perfect. She was going to be one step closer to her dream. She was going to be creating a character that the world will remember and Maan will be the face of her success.
Maan began his audition. He involuntarily walked towards Geet and held out his hand as if asking for a dance.
Maan: I would like nothing more than Ms. Geet Handa herself to be a part of my audition. Would you do me the pleasure of playing the part of my lover?
Something about his words didn't let Geet deny his request. Or maybe it was just him she couldn't deny. The word "lover" sent shivers down her spine, but his touch took her to a feeling even she had no words to explain. He walked her to the stage bringing her up the stairs on the side. But she was in such a daze that she didn't step up. She snapped out of her reverie when she felt Maan arms around her again.
"MAHIII" Romeo , the camera man said all of a sudden! (HAHA' I can never forget that mahiii from Romeo on the sangeet of our maaneet!)
Maan: Waise tum bhi buri actress nahi ho. Stage tak pohanche nahi ke tumne toh mere lover ki acting bhi shuru kardi.
Geet straightened herself trying to hide the slight blush that started to creep up on her cheeks. But Maan noticed and gave him infamously sexy sideways smirk.
Geet reached center stage while Maan behind her. She stopped and Maan spun around her instantly and bends down on his knees in front of her.
Maan: I hope you don't mind if I use your name instead of Heer. I like to be original you know.
Geet was so mesmerized that she just nodded in affirmative.
Maan: Geet. Mein yahaan tumhe kisi bandish ya dabaav mein nahi dalne aaya hoon. Mein toh bus tumhe itna batane aaya hoon ke mein tumse kitna pyaar karte. Pyaar shabd bhi bohot chota hai meri mohabbat ki inteha ko sametne ke liye. Tum meri zindagi mein aao ya naa aao, mere dil mein hamesha rahogi.
Eyelock' mahiii
In the background: Pinky: but yah tho dialogues hai hi nahi. Yeh kya bole jaa raha hain?
Romeo: Oh God Pinky Ma'am. Itna romantic aur achi acting kar raha hai. Dekho.
Maan: Tumhare ghar wale shayad nahi maane hamare rishte ke liye. Lekin wwoh hame dur karsakte hain. Alag kaise karenge? Main jaanta hoon ke yeh tumhare liye aasaan nahi hai. Mere liye bhi bohot mushkil hai. Lekin mein yeh ladai ladne ke liye bhi tayyar hoon, agar tum mere saath ho tho. Kya tum mere saath do gi Geet? Kya tum meri dulhan banogi? *He held out his hand*
Geet: Haan!
She almost jumped to hug him. But reality sunk in too fast as Maan withdrew his hand from hers.
CHAPTER 7
7:00AM..
Geet woke up with a throbbing headache. She sat up on the bed without opening her eyes and stretched out her arms and yawned. She reached over to the side table to get a glass of water that is always by her bed side. She picked it up and took a sip. She spit it out instantly and opened her eyes.
Geet: Yeh kya hai? Mere paani mein lemon kis ne daali??
Then she looked around and realized that this was not her room. This was not her house.
Geet: Oh God. Mein kahaan hoon? Mujhe yahaan kon lekar aaya? Mujhe abhi yahaan se nikalna hoga. Par kaise?
Then she looked down and saw what she was wearing.
Geet: HAWWW!!! Mere kapde kisne badle??? OMG⌠NO.. NO.. NOOO. Kahaan hai woh ulla ka patta jo mujhe yahaan laya hai. He probably took complete advantage of me last night. Yaar! WTH!
She ran towards the door with just revenge on her mind. She followed the sound of the voice. It sounded like it was coming from the study. She walked closer and was surprised to see that it was Maan. And he was practicing for her audition!
She sighed a breath of relief. But then she snapped out.
Geet: Nahi Geet! He is just like every other man in the world. He probably thought I will give him the role if he⌠if we⌠ughhhâŚ..
She had enough of this mental debate with herself and opened the door slowly without letting him hear. His back was facing towards her. She jumped up on his back straddling him and started hitting his chest and pulling his hair.
He instantly held her from behind as if supporting her inadvertently.
Maan: AAAHHH!! Kya kar rahi ho? Uthroo!! You animal! Get off of meee! GEETT!!
Geet still pounding on his chest and now biting him: Haan Haan! Ab tohâŚ.
Maan: AAHHH! Geettt
Geet: Zor se lagi?
Maan: Haan!
Geet: Acha hua! *And she continued hitting and torturing him.* Tum ne kya socha. You'll take advantage of me and I'll give you the role?? That is the lowest and cheapest thing ever. Khud talent hai nahi aur ek ladki ka aise faida utha rahe hoo??!!
Maan had enough of this now. He pulled her in front of him making her stand firmly on the ground. She continued to pound her fists with all the power she had and tears started to form in her eyes now.
He grabbed her wrists to stop her attack but she still continued to struggle. He pushed her back onto the wall and pinned her hands above her head. His face was inches away from hers and she turned her head sideways with a disgusted look.
Maan gritted through his teeth: Chup! Bilkul chup! Kitna bolti ho tum! Ab mein bolunga aur tum sirf suno gi. Apna moo bundh aur kaan kol lo. Samjhi!? Ab suno. Meine tumhara koi faida waida nahi uthaya. Actually, tum toh mera rape karne ko tayyar thi kal raat. *He chuckled slightly remembering the events of the night before while she just looked at him confused* Tumhe kisi ne pila di thi kal raat. Remember? You were at the club at the back of the bar? Who bhi kisi ladke ke saath?
She looked at him with realization and remembrance dawning on her expressions. He smirked slightly without letting her notice.
Maan: Meine tumhe usse bacha ya.. Warna tum toh kahin ki nahi rahti. Tumne mujhe nashe ke haalat mein paagal kardiya. Pata maine kya kya nahin kiya. Bhangra bhi kiya tumhare liye.
Geet couldn't help but laugh out loud hearing that he did bhangra for her. And "tumhare liye" kept ringing in her eyes like a pleasant song.
He slowly let go of her hands and moved back seeing her calm down a bit.
Maan: Tumhe tumhara address nahi yaad tha, issi liye tumhe yahaan le aaya. Aur tumne apne kapde khud badle the. Who kal baarish hoyi thi iss liye.. Bheeg gayi thi. Aur tum mujh pe hi ilzaam lagaa rahi ho?
Geet: Sorry. Mein shayad kuch zyadaâŚ
Maan showed her his hand indicating for her to stop and moved out of the room. Before he walked out: Meine Adi se kehdiya hai ke tum yahaan ho. Wo tumhe bahaar jaane ke liye kapde de dega. Phir tumhe audition ke liye bhi jaana hoga. Mein toh jitna bhi late jao, koi faraq nahi padta⌠kyunki I'll be the last one anyway.
With that, something clicked in Geet's mind.
Geet: Oh shoot! The audition. I have to get out of here. But where am I? And Maan said that he doesn't have anything?! This place is huge! No one this guy is a struggler. He's playing me! He's playing Geet Handa! We'll just seeâŚ
She barged into his room without knocking even once. He had just come out of the shower, wrapping his towel around his waist while Geet was talking to herself. Geet in her super fast speed ran right into his chest. MAHIII (LOL)
Geet: Wwohh⌠wohh⌠mein.. MeinâŚ
Maan: Wohh wohh kya kar rahi ho? Kyun aayi ho?
Geet: Haan! Tumne toh kaha tha ke tum akele ho. Tumhare paas kuch nahi hain. Toh phir tum ITNEE BAREEE ghar mein kaise rehte hoo?? You lied! Ullu ka patta!
Maan: Hey⌠heyy⌠heyy! First of all, stop cursing me in my own room! Number two, I never said this is my house. Yes I live here. But this is my friend's house, and I don't use the luxuries he provides me. I only live here for shelter. Everything else, I work hard for. That's why I'm here. Otherwise, I don't need to be at the mercy of people like you! Especially a woman! And number three, GET OUT and let me change!
Geet realized he was still holding her in his embrace with a hot hot bare torso. She covered her eyes with her hands, "Hey Babaji!" and ran out quickly.
Maan smirked at the effect he had on her and her response to it. "Pagli."
Geet left without informing Maan after getting changed. She didn't want to deal with this any more.
Geet: He'll be at the audition anyway. Sone pe suhaaga.. He's acts really well from the practice he was doing. I might just end up choosing him. Ufff
Maan: Geet! Geet!
Maan yelled through out the house, but heard no response. He asked Nakul if he saw any girl.
Nakul asked in confusion: Sir? Aap kisi ladki ko kyun dhund rahe ho? Aap tho Maan Singh Khurana ho, aap tho ladkiyon se nafrat karte ho na?
Maan: Nakul! Tumse jo pucha hai uska jawaab do!
Nakul: Ji Sir. Mera mmmatlab haaii ssirr ke ghar mein aapke ilava koi nahi hai.
Maan: Chali gayi? Teek hai tum jao. Aur suno. Mein audition ke liye jaa raha hoon, der hojaygi. Mein khaana bahar hi kha loonga.
Nakul: Ji sir.
ONE MORE ON THE WAY
CHAPTER 6
Maan picked Geet up holding her arms but she snapped out again. He tried to run to the driver's seat, but Geet caught his hand. His heart almost stopped with the sudden touch, that she initiated for the first time the whole night.
Geet: Dance with me. I wanna dance in the rain.
Maan looked at her with a perplexed expression and she let go of his hand. She turned around with a rejected face and tears brimming in her eyes. He couldn't let her down like this. He had a pang in his heart when she turned around with that cute pout. He didn't know what took over him in the next instant.
He knelt down on one knee and held her hand.
Maan in his oh so sensuous and husky voice asked," May I have this dance madam."
She turned around instantly, with the rain pouring down even more heavily now, his touch felt like heaven. He got up and brought her closer with a jerk from her waist. He was a little hesitant because he couldn't read her expressions. He moved away just a little holding just her hands. He wasn't sure how she wanted to do this without getting too close.
He got an idea after some thinking. To his surprise, as well as Geet's he broke out into bhangra dancing. At first, he felt kind of awkward doing bhangra in the rain with a girl who's drunk and potentially his new boss. But the moment he heard Geet's melodious laughter, he couldn't help but join her. He urged her to dance with him too, but she refused.
Maan: Yeh loh. Mein tumhare kehne par dance kar raha hoon aur tum ho ke manaa kar rahi ho.
Geet through her fits of laughter: Nahi. Mujhe... yy ye hh... hahaa... yeh wala... haahaa... dance nahi karna.
She moved closer to him and held his hands again. He was surprised with the sudden proximity. His mind yelled at him to move back because of the sexual tension that was building and the fact that the girl was drunk. But his heart had his feet glued to its spot.
Geet placed his one hand on her waist and took the other in her own hand. She put her other hand on his shoulder. They swayed to the music of the rain. Maan couldn't help but stare deep into those eyes and could see the pain that was hidden within them. She disclosed some of it to him earlier, but he wasn't quite sure what the whole story was. He was confused as to why it mattered to him so much. He wanted to take all the pain away and make it his if he could. He never cared about any girl this much, then why in just three meetings, this girl has taken control of his mind. What was it about her?
He broke out of his thoughts when she leaned closer to him, their lips just inches apart. But to his surprise, she just moved her head onto his chest and brought her arms around his neck and he automatically moved his other hand to her waist. The feel was incredible. He felt like this was where he belonged. In a long time, he felt like he belonged. All his life he had been looking for something to claim as his own. He longed for the affections of another that were selfless, and not just materialistic. He couldn't understand how she could make him feel that way but would rather live his whole life in that moment. He closed his eyes to savor the feeling deep in his heart and never let this memory be erased.
Geet was not in her senses, but she was being the Geet that once was. Even in her intoxicated state, something in the back of her head screamed to control herself, but with Maan, she didn't feel the need to. He was a stranger, but she knew him. She felt like she knew him. And she felt like he knew her, and only he had the right to know the real her. Nothing was making sense. The emotions flowed as hard as the rain and their heartbeats were in sync.
Maan couldn't control anymore and knew he had to stop this now before things got out of hand. He could feel his own arousal and didn't know what else to do. He picked her up in one swift motion and put her in the passenger seat. He could see the hint of pink on her cheeks and smiled inwardly content with the fact that he was the only one being affected.
Maan: Thank god she's not protesting anymore. Warna isse gaari mein baitane ke chakkar mein pata nahi kya kya hojaa tha.
Geet just stared at him in wonder of how someone could have such perfect features. She suddenly said, "Mujhe cinco (five in Spanish) Maan nazar aarahe hain... Lekin.. tumne mujhe apna naam tho bataya hi nahi.. toh mujhe kaise pata? Haha.. Magic.. Hahaa. Dekho...Uno Maan, Dos Maan, Tres Maan, Cuatro Maan, Cinco Maan. Hehe... itne sare ho tum. *She pointed to five different directions, the last one landing on Maan's nose*
Maan: Geet. Hum pehle bhi mil chuke hain. Issi liye tumhe mera naam yaad hoga ... woh bi bohot ache se. Aur tumhe Spanish bhi aati hain? Wow! Iss ka dimag tho nashe mein bhi itna tez chalta hai!
His expression changed from confusion to appreciation and he smiled. She smiled back at him while her finger still on his nose. She slowly moved her fingers to his cheeks, surprising Maan again. And then she did what he expected least. She pulled his cheeks like he was a chubby little kid.
Geet: Cuteyy... Tum kitne cute hooo. *She exaggerated with her big eyes*... Tum na bilkul papa types lagte ho.
Maan: Papa types? *Expression changes from perplexed to fake anger* Matlab mein tumhe buddha types lagta hoon? Hmm?
Geet: Nahiii. Tum.. tum...tum... umm... mein kya keh rahi thi?? *she asked with sincerity.
Maan just smiled and decided to let the conversation go. He leaned over her to fasten her seatbelt, when he slightly came in contact with her curves. Her breath hitched with the touch and he was too embarrassed to acknowledge it outwardly. He shut the door and stood outside the car with his eyes closed and arms out. He wanted the rain to wash all the forbidden thoughts that came to his mind for a girl that he had met just a few days ago. And a girl with whom on every meeting, he has fought with. He mentally smacked himself and wiped that wide grin off his face.
He ran over to the driver's seat and quickly sat inside. They both sat there with their eyes closed and heads leaned against the seat.
Maan: Yeh kisse paala par gaya hain mera!? Ab isse kahaan leke jaoon itni raat ko? Shayad isko pata ho yeh kahaan rehti hai... haan! Pooch ke dekta hoon.
He turned towards her, but his voice was stuck in his throat with the sight in front of him. Geet was sitting there almost as drenched as he was. He eyed her from top to bottom with his mouth open. He didn't know just the sight of a girl could make him so aroused.
Maan: Control Maan.. control! Yeh kya hogaya hai tujhe.
Geet felt the smoldering gaze that looked only at her and opened her eyes and turned her head in Maan's direction. To his surprise, she just smiled at him and shook her head as if to ask "what happened?"
Maan instantly turned around looking out the window to calm his nerves.
Maan: Woh... umm... tum kahaan rehti ho. What's your address. I'll drop you home.
Geet: oh yah. *she said as if she was totally sober.*
Maan's hopes got high that maybe she can answer his question. Although, he felt something inside him not wanting to let her go so soon.
Geet: I live.. I live on earth. *She said with complete satisfaction and jumped up in excitement.*
Maan gritted through his teeth in a murderous tone: GEET!
He started the car and drove to his house. He thanked god silently that Adi had told him that he would be spending the whole night out.
Geet: I live on Earth... You live on Earth... We live on Earth! YAYY!
Maan knew Geet was in no position to tell him anything, and unless she went to sleep, he wouldn't be in peace either. And he needed some time to practice for the audition tomorrow.
Maan self-thougt: Mujhe tho lagne laga hai ke yeh jaan boojh kar mere saath aisa kar rahi hai taake mere audition sahi se nahi ho paye kal. Lekin iski kya ghalti. Sab kuch toh mere saamne hi huwa tha.
They reached the house and Maan noticed that she was sleeping. He carried her inside and just as he was about to enter the guest room, he slipped on the welcome mat at the door. He dropped Geet on the floor and shielded himself with his hands. (Sumaiyah thinking.. what kind of a prince charming does that??đ)
Geet got up with a startle. She started crying rubbing her back. She opened her eyes and noticed that Maan was holding himself up with his hands.
Geet: Tumhe push-ups ki padi hai abhi!!? Raat ke dhai baje.. tumhe apne dole shole banane ka dil cha raha hai? Aur mujhe giraya kyun? *She started crying and pouting.*
Now how could this bechara resist that? But ego toh uski naak pe rahta hai.
Maan: Haan! Tumhara audition jo hai kal. Waise bhi tum producers toh humare dole shole pe zyada dihaan dethe ho, na ke hamaare talent per. *He calmed himself down breathing in and out*
Geet: Tum yoga bhi karte ho? Mein bhi karoongi! *Breathes loudly in and out*
Maan ignored that completely: Umm... tumhe zyada zor se lagi kya?.. Chalo utto. *He helped her get up* Tum change karlo. Uhh.. yaha par koi ladki nahi rehti toh.. mere kapde hi lelo.
He quickly gave her his kurta and pajama before she got unconscious again. He led her to the bathroom and let her change. Laying her on the bed and covering her with the blanket, he closed the lights and walked out. He walked into Adi's room and changed into something dry. He lay on the bed to get some sleep deciding to get up early to practice. He looked at the time to set his alarm, but was shocked to see that it was already 4 AM!
After such a long night, he decided that at least one hour of sleep was needed to function properly.
He got up at 5:30 AM, putting off his alarm for an extra half hour. He checked the guestroom and saw Geet sleeping peacefully.
He closed the door again and walked to the study. He took out the audition script and started practicing his lines.
