Chapter 32"Sasha...I mean, Ma'am...I mean, Sasha, 'cause we're not in the office, why do you look upset?" asked Tasha as she sat down at the table with her iced cappuccino.
Sasha didn't answer immediately as she sipped her vanilla latte, looking angrily out the window of the exclusive coffe shop. "Do you know that MK yelled at me yesterday when I asked him why that behenji wasn't at work? I don't care if she is married. That girl as already caused me too much trouble. It's time for her to go, and I have the perfect idea to see that it happens."
Tasha couldn't think what Sasha would be able to do, but she definitely wanted to be in on it. It was always a good policy to stick with your boss, and being Sasha's secretary, she did just that. Listening intently as Sasha explained her idea, Tasha marveled at the craftiness that her idol possessed. When Monday came, they were ready to put their plan into action.
Maan was ready to get back to work. This week was an important week for the company, for they were going after the biggest project KC had seen yet. Maan wanted to start out the week with a strong start, planning to leave early that Monday morning. He was actually in a pretty good mood, until he told Mohan to go.
"Dadima told me to wait and take Geet madam to work also," replied Mohan matter-of-factly.
"What?" yelped Maan, his good day suddenly turning sour.
Before Mohan could say any more, Maan had opened the car door and slammed it hard, stalking off toward's that mansion's entrance. Once inside, he grilled Nakul on Savitri's location, only to be told that she was taking breakfast with Geet. Heading off angrily to the dining room, Maan was determined to set his grandmother straight on her interference.
"Dadima, please, I really have to go, or I will be late," Geet complained as she tried to get up from the table.
"But, Geet beti, you've hardly eaten anything. I won't let you go off like this. It's important to have a good breakfast before starting the day. Oh, Maan, did you decided to join us for breakfast this morning?"
"Dadima," he started, totally ignoring her question, "what do you mean by telling Mohan not to take me to work?"
"I didn't tell him not to take you, Beta," she replied, "I just said that he should not leave without Geet as well."
"Dadima, I won't have you interfering in my business like this. My personal life is one thing, but when it affects Khurana Constructions, I won't tolerate any disruptions!"
Savitri frowned at Maan's tone, as well as his anger over such a trivial manner. "Maan, I thought that I brought you up to speak to your Dadima with a little more respect than this. I told Mohan to wait, because not only do you and Geet go to the same place, but you work together. You have to be there at the same time, so it is a little ridiculous for you both to travel separately. Anyway, Geet has been taking a taxi to the office, which is just plain silly when we have a driver who is perfectly capable of dropping her off."
Geet watched with wide eyes while Maan argued with Savitri, before finally giving in slightly. "Fine. You want Mohan to drive her to the office, that's fine. But I'm not going to wait around all day until she is ready. I'll drive myself to work from now on."
Having made that declaration, Maan stalked away in frustration. Geet knew he was upset because of Savitri trying to insist that they go together and that made her upset too. She didn't want to always have this anger and upset between them, especially because they worked together. Though Savitri tried again to insist that Geet eat something more, she gave the excuse of being late, before hurrying out to the waiting car.
"Geet, it's good that you got here before DD today," commented Pinky, happy to see her friend back at the office after Geet walked in through the door.
"DD?" questioned Geet, not sure what the receptionist was talking about.
"Didn't any one explain DD to you?" Geet shook her head no. "DD is Maan Sir. All the girls in the office call him that because he is so handsome, your heart just goes dhak dhak when you see him."
"Dhak dhak," repeated Geet skeptically, unable to think of a scowling, angry Maan in such a way.
"Haan! All the office girls just go faint around him."
"But he's always so mean to everybody."
"That's true. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of his lectures," confirmed Pinky, "but looking at him from a safe distance is a real treat."
Geet was about to comment on what bad taste she thought Pinky had, when the siren went off. Pinky complained about how the boss seemed to be coming to work earlier and earlier, before advising Geet to hurry to her office. Knowing that Maan was already in a bad mood, Geet agreed with her friend. Stepping into the cabin, she saw that a lot of pending work was waiting.
Fairly soon, Geet noticed Maan entering his cabin. He called in a few of the office staff to give them their orders, then sat down at his desk to look through several files. Geet tried to concentrate on her own work, but something about the blinds between their two offices pulled her gaze that direction more often than she wanted. At one point, she saw Maan move to rest his head against his right hand.
Looking more closely, Geet could see that he was actually rubbing his forehead, as if he had a headache. When he moved his hand away, Geet could see the angry red mark that immediately brought back memories of what had just happened to them only a few days ago. Biting her lip in concern, Geet wondered if the reason his head hurt was because of the injuries he got while protecting her from Brij. That thought brought feelings of guilt and remorse.
Though he was not very nice to her most of the time, Geet easily admitted that Maan had given her a lot of help, some at the risk of his life. Now, even Dadima was troubling him due to her presence. Geet didn't want to be a trouble to him, or anyone. She forgot about all the mean and nasty things he had said to her, only think that she should apologize for causing him so much difficulty.
First, she tried to write it out in a small note. That didn't go to well, because Geet couldn't decided whether to adress the note to him as "Maan" or as "Sir". She then thought it would be better just to call him up, before she remembered that he didn't like phone calls. Geet was too scared to say it to his face, for she never seemed to be able to talk to him unless she was yelling. No matter how she thought about it, she couldn't find a solution.
With no other idea, Geet went to Pinky for help. Pinky was only too happy to have an excuse for a break, dragging her friend to the cafeteria for some food. Unfortunately for Geet, Pinky was not any better at coming up with a solution to her dilema than Geet had been. Salvation seemed to come in the form of Sasha, who very nicely suggested that Geet should make coffee for Maan as an apology.
"Will Maan...Uh, will Sir really forgive me just like that?" questioned Geet, thinking that it almost seemed to simple.
Sasha assured her that was what she would do, if she wanted to give an apology. She even offered to help Geet make the coffee, as she had never made the drink before. The older woman was so helpful, that Geet wondered if she had misjudged the woman earlier. After all, some people where hard to get along with until you got to know them better.
PrecapThe only reason Maan didn't tell her to get out, was that as long as she was in the office, it would be easy to keep track of what she was doing. Under no circumstances did he want that walking disaster to be roaming around his home freely, destroying it one catastrophe at a time.
