Could this mean that the killer and the accomplice are either a father/mother-son/daughter duo who have been psycologically affected by the spouse/parents' extra marital affair? That justifies killing of the adult but the child? Is it possible that the adult himself is a victim of such an affair that he doesnt want the child to live to face the bitter truth of having a parent that wronged the other parent. Is it possible that it is Maan? Could it be he is multiple-personality disorder, one personality remembers the wiped out memory?
One more question, am I sounding too filmy?

This is getting murkier... Such an organized man who uses such violent methods. But it also fits the description as he was careful to stab where it would cause death by bleeding in the case of both the parents. The absence of blood is truly weird. This man washed up, changed and drove off. Wow.
If the accomplice is not an adult, it is also possible that s/he befriended the child first and got the details of the household, parents' behavior etc. Somebody here pointed out the possibility of using the child as a tool. Valid point perhaps
great work, really like the effort you are putting into it :)

Does this mean there are a minimum of three children involved? (two being victims) The update did mention some of the amateur cuts were post-mortem which means even if the victims slashed at themselves or their parent, there must be one (or more, possibly) children involved. That's just bloody sick, the killer is a complete psychopath!

Maybe not a Daakiya, Dhood-Wala, but do we have somesort of killer babysitter in our hands? 😆

Two updates already:-)

Interesting that Maan opened up the possibility that there may have been two of them. But, would it not be more difficult (not that it would be impossible) for a child not to leave some sort of forensic evidence around? Could it not be the case that we have a devolving killer on the loose?

If everything -- characters, animals, places -- has a reason and nothing is to be ignored, if many threads make a grand story, if a connection may seem to exist, I am inclined to pursue my gruesome line of questioning about the bodies [father-daughter and mother-son] being found in the master bedroom. Perhaps, it is time to check the medical histories of each of the victims to ascertain the state of their health -- both physical and mental. And, perhaps, it is also time to check the medical histories and case histories available with each character (or is it too early to make that leap?:-)). It may also provide the key.

Another question: What caused the serrations on the hand of the daughter? Were all the wounds on the bodies of the father and daughter caused by a serrated knife?

And yet another question. Well, this one has been preying on my mind ever since I first read it in c 7 and it reared up again when I read c 11.

"What do you see then?" Emily asked him.

"I see two families where there is a dominant parent who is the biggest influence in the child's life ' here it is the father and in previous case it was the mother. In both the cases there is no sign of breaking and entering, time of death is almost similar and knife was used as the primary weapon. The children died first and their parent last. The socioeconomic conditions of the families are almost similar and if we dig much deeper we will see that their daily patterns will be almost similar too," Maan replied.

Chapter 11:

...

"So the primary caretaker and the child die when the dominant parent is away from home." Geet observed. "How did the killer get in?" She asked.

What caused Maan to infer (in c 7) that the mother was the dominant parent in the family of the father-daughter homicide and that the father was the dominant parent in the case of the Guhas? What is the criterion that led to them being labelled the dominant parent? The only commonality I see is that the mother, in the first case, and the father, in the second case, were the ones who worked outside the home. Was there more information available to the team that led them to this inference?

And, a few final questions for now. May we inquire about the genre of novels that this Bhagat authored? And may we also inquire about any manuscript he was working on?

Now, that took me to another line of questioning. Were the children (and their classmates) who were found dead working on any specific school assignments?

PS: Sookie, these are questions that come to my mind. But, to be honest, I do not expect you to spend your time answering every random question that comes to my mind. I appreciate the regular updates and would rather have them than have you spend your time responding to every single random question that I raise. Perhaps, I should start flagging the questions I consider relevant.

I am completely horrified and completely hooked! 😲

And naturally, during your sabbatical, I stalked your posts and read everything else MG you ever wrote and am your newest, crazy fangirl. Sssookieee!! *faint* 😆

One question about this story that has forced me out of silent stalking... In the last update they all keep referring to the suspect as 'he'. Is there anything I missed that led them to surmise that the killer was male, or is it still up in the air and they are using the pronoun in an unconscious, general way?
