Naintara came like a blast from the past when she sent her photograph to Dev through a courier- no less with the intention of stunning Dev completely. Her plan worked, as Dev has begun to remember his past and regret it too. Who knows what havoc Naintara will cause in the Khurana house? To play this scheming role, Star One has roped in actress Sonali Nikam, but the shoot is yet to take place. We quiz her on her on television's most popular show, the popular couples, and the revenge she will unleash on the Khuranas.
Are you aware of Dev and Nandini's budding friendship? Do you have a problem?
No, I don't know about Dev and Nandini's friendship. My return to the show is to complete what I was set out to do, that is to take my revenge.
What do you think of Maan and Geet?
Maan and Geet are my biggest enemies, especially Geet. She ruined my life. It is because of her that I am in this situation now. They have made my life miserable, and now, it's their turn to face my wrath.
Are you aware of Maan's partial amnesia?
Not really.
Do you plan to divorce Dev?
I can't reveal my plans, as I don't want my enemies to know my strategies. But watch and wait, it will turn ugly.
Why have you returned to Dev again?
I returned to exact revenge from Dev. I can't believe he did this to me. I just wanted power and respect for him and his family, but they failed to see it.
Did you ever love Dev?
I'll not be coy about it. I do have feelings for Dev. This feeling began when Dev spent the night with Geet. I realised I was very jealous. I didn't expect that he would sleep with another woman, but he did it, and I want my revenge.
What's your ultimate motto ?
To destroy the Khurana family and acquire all the money and status from them.
How does it feel to replace Karisma Randheva, who played Naintara before, as she was quite established in the role?
It is challenging for me to replace Karishma and take over her place, as audiences loved her. Sure, she had established the character very well, and I really liked her style of acting in the show, but I am sure I will be able to make a place of my own with my own acting. I hope the audiences loves me too.
What shows have you done before Geet?
Before Geet, I did a comedy show called Jaankhilavan Jasoos on SAB TV, which was very inspiring and engaging. It was a different madness altogether. I also played one of the sisters in Rakt Sambhandh on Imagine TV, which was a serious role, and I enjoyed it tremendously. I also appeared in Sony TV's Godh Bharai, which was a sweet role.
How do you feel shifting from comedy to a serious role?
I am sure it must be very challenging for any actor, and so is the case with me, but I consider nothing difficult. I feel if you are confident in your acting, nothing is tough. I hope fans accept me as Naintara and, frankly speaking, I enjoy negative roles more then comedy, as there is more to do in a negative role. I am looking forward to playing a bitchy and villainous Naintara.
How do you look at negative roles?
It will be a good experience to do a negative role. I think every actor should do a negative role, as it enhances their skills. Moreover, actors should not limit themselves to certain kind of roles, and should try all variations. We gain experience with each role, no matter what genre. Naturally, working on different roles makes us better actors.
Who are your favourite negative characters from Bollywood and TV shows?
In Bollywood, I love Amitabh Bachchan's character in Aankhein. I really liked the way he performed the tricky role with ease and grace, and not going into too many theatrics. A negative role can be subtle too - it doesn't have to be loud. In television, I love Tapasya from Uttaran, who is wickedly scheming and dangerously vicious. She looks so bholi-bhali that you can't help but forgive her.
Dev is too shocked to react, but he says, "I never thought that my past would come back to haunt me. Naintara's return in my life has been like an earthquake. It has shattered all the goodness and happiness from my life. I am shocked to the hilt. I didn't know she would be back after so long. I don't know what she wants, but I know she has a plan in store. And, knowing her, I think she will cause havoc in my life and Maan and Geet's life too. I am scared and worried for them."
Will Naintara be successful this time? How will Dev react to her return? What are her plans for the Khuranas? Don't forget to watch Naintara, who is returning soon in Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi, every Monday to Friday at 9.30 PM, only on STAR One.
