The problem is in the TAM info itself...See what's written below the ratings.

The words "Targeted Viewers"

This is what TAM is all about...it records and collates the viewing inclinations of a few targeted viewers..who are classified under different groups...Age, Gender, Occupation, Residence and social class. Among these they chose a few who are given those TAM meters which are placed next to their TV sets. They are trained as to how to use these meters while watching the shows they like...they are given individual codes which they have to punch in via a remote controlled device. The TAM meter then starts to register the time, the frequency of the channel and the code of the person who is watching the show.

Every week, TAM sends its people to these homes to recover this information and collate it which is then given to the channels and advertisers for whom the whole exercise is conducted.

The chosen few are put on the TAM panel for about 6 months and depending on their interest or co-operation they are kept on or removed.

This way the channels and the advertisers know who their audiences are and are in a better position to place their ads in the best and right time slots so that they know that their target audience is catching their ads when they watch the shows. The channels also know which show works with whom or and which does not.

Since the hardware and software of the TAM meters are hugely expensive, there are very few of them around and so, only a selected few are given them in their homes...they get rotated every six months so that TAM gets a more comprehensive feed back but it is not correct that EVERY house in India has this meter.

The problem with Star One is that not all cable providers have this channel while Star Plus is available everywhere. And since the majority of the homes in India that have TV sets have cable which is far cheaper than Tata Sky and such like, Star One is not accessible to all.

But, having said this, I request all to still watch the show during its original time.
