Saj, I can think of two possible scenarios.

Caveat: These are mere speculations and have not been verified with anyone involved in the publication, directly or indirectly, of the story under discussion.

The reporter was probably constrained by word count and could not add any information about the source of the story and verification thereof. Yet, the brave soul decided to court the ire of *fans* (yes, that dratted species again) and publish the story to warn them.

Or, perhaps, the piece was edited to make space for Maaneet's photograph. For, the *fans* would have probably laid seige to TOI for publishing a piece about the alleged end of GHSP, unaccompanied by a Maaneet photograph.

There are enough 'sources' that are either confirming or denying the news.

But, one thing I don't understand about the GF members is this:

When the same lady wrote the article about GC's tattoo and her opinion about it, many Gurti fans basically concurred with her and said she knew what she was talking about. No one then demanded to know the sources.

But when she wrote about the show ending in September, everyone is up in arms about her lack of sources.

Once Star One released the news about its revamp, the days were numbered for all the shows on the channel.

And since they can't remove all the shows at one fell swoop, they have to start somewhere. Geet being 'targeted' must be a coincidence. There could many logistic and behind the scenes reasons for the news of the show ending first...we've already heard a lot about problems between the two PHs that are producing the show.

Did any one wonder if that could be it? The crew are leaving the show at a regular basis.
Star One is denying the rumours till they are blue in the face..it could be that the news of the show ending leaked out to the press before the channel actually wanted it to be known...so until the time is right, they won't issue a statement and has kept a gag order on all concerned.

Plus, Star News is a sister concern of Star TV,..how difficult is it for them to confirm the news...they are highly unlikely to shoot their mouths off only to get into trouble with their bosses! Which is what Star News did and probably are in hot soup for it!!

And before you all get angry with me, I have to say that my heart is broken to smithareens by this news. The show has been a part and parcel of my life since it began, especially because it entered my life at its lowest phase which I'm still undergoing. It gave me something to look forward to everyday in the last one year and 3 months. It's like my life line being taken away.

So, I'm upset as anyone of you...but we have to be realistic and understand that every thing that begins has to end.

Pippa: I dont hold ToI in very high esteem..as IMO its barely better off than a rag..but just looking at an article from a journalistic integrity angle- this article mentions no sources. Atleast the previous article spoke about some "source" close to the couple...this has NO I mean nada, zilch sources. So what does one believe? If you read the papers regularly, I am sure you what articles which have no sources are called- they either come under the opinions section or the editorials...they are not classified as field reports. I dunno where you read about fans concurring with Neha that the tattoo was real..as I have seen it on IF and FB- 90% of the fans think that the tattoo is fake..which is not what that article spoke about

So abhi se GEET end hoga yah uushe extension milegii kisse pata hai, so, guyss, chill, rona bandh karo, aur as much as possible show ki TRP badhaneki koshish karo...iishimein hum sabki bhalayee hai.

Thanks for the info...hmm perhaps they (Ms. Neha & CA) are trying to kill 2 birds with one stone? Gain publicity and at the same time Caution the ardent viewers- so we can, in turn try to 'save' the show?...

Anyway I thought about this whole ending thing, ...And you know what?? So what if it ends??...Maan & Geet still and always will Rock the Telly world...We all know GEET will go down as a Classic in telly history..Heck we'll see new shows popin up being 'inspired' by our show...oh wait a second... I think that's already happening...😆 ...woah...and our show hasn't even ended yet!! 😆😉

That's the line I was referring to when I said many fans concurred with her belief...not that the tattoo was real or fake.

Pixie, I do read the newspaper every single day and do know the difference between editorials, opinions and reports...mainly because I used to work for The Indian Express and the The Asian Age as sub-editor, field reporter and Features Editor.

The Times of India is the most read newspaper In India as you may know. However, its accompanying pull-out, The Mirror is a rag. This article seems have appeared either in The Mumbai Mirror or The Mumbai Times which is a rag too...the Mumbai Mirror comes free with the main newspaper in Mumbai unlike other parts of India

My previous comment was about the irony of certain pieces of news which are readily accepted and certain others that aren't.

Ye, we all do have a right to an opinion, pixie, that's why we are here.

As far as I can see, I didn't say anything in my post to get you all uptight.
