Thrilled with his victory, Lucky has heartfelt gratitude for his brother-in-law Maan, who became Lucky's mentor, guided him, supported and encouraged him to chase his goals. We spoke to Maan and Lucky about their new found relationship.
Ask Maan aka Gurmeet Choudhary if he sees himself as Lucky's mentor and he declares, "Yes. I taught him kushti ke gun and boosted his morale. He is someone who needs guidance and support, as he never got any from his family. I felt I should step up, help him and so I did. He looks up to me as a big brother and I, too, think of him as a younger brother." Lucky aka Ahawaan couldn't agree more. "Maan jijaji has been a huge support to me. I see him as my guru. He has made me what I am today, so definitely he is my mentor. He is someone I look up to and want to be like him one day. I want to get the same respect like Maan as whatever he says has value, people believe what he says. I want my word to have worth, value. I feel Maan jijaji is a great person who is very helpful, kind and just. He has a huge heart and generosity of spirit. Though, we behaved badly with him when we first met, he has been very good to me. I am full of gratitude and thank him for helping me win the kushti match. If not for him, I don't think I would have had the courage to take such a challenge on. I remember, earlier, we all used to hate him and every family person would behave the same way as we did, if they learn that their sister was hurt and sent away from her family. We blamed him for Geet didi's heartaches. I even beat up Maan's assistant Adi when he came home. He even won the wrestling match, when he was pretending as balwant but back then, I was angry that a small time driver won the match when I couldn't. Today I think of him as my guru, mentor, and a big brother. He and Geet didi are the only ones who have supported me regarding Preeto. He has helped me achieve my manzil."
Maan who wants Lucky to be responsible and standing on his own feet, is working on making Lucky independent and says, "I will do whatever I can to make him a responsible and independent person in life. I urged him to fight the wrestling match as I knew if he defeated Preeto's fiance, he would be a winner not only before the village, Preeto and her family, but in his own eyes. He has to increase his self-esteem and self-worth. No one has supported him till date so he doesn't have confidence to do much. I feel a person's confidence can be increased overtime. Everyone has some talent and some abilities, perhaps some people like Lucky need the right push, the right boost to shine in life. You just have to look within yourself and find that confidence and talent in you. And confidence doesn't increase over night. It has to be honed and developed over time. After this win, Lucky is feeling really good and got his pride back. This will help him pave the way to his future."
Does he think winning a kushti match means a person is responsible? Maan replies in negative. "No, I don't think winning a kushti match means a person is responsible but it is a good start. He took part in the match to prove his love for Preeto and he won, so her family now thinks well of him. That makes a lot of difference. I am sure tomorrow, if Lucky, goes as asks for Preeto's hand, her family will be more receptive of him than they were earlier."
Lucky agrees as he was scared to tell his family about his love for Preeto but winning the match has surely given him confidence. "It is not easy to talk about your love before your family members. Everyone, including Beeji, thought of me as nikamma, irresponsible and good for nothing. So, it is tough to stand up for what you want. And moreover, I knew how they would react when they learnt about my love for Preeto. I want to be independent for Preeto's love as well my own self. It is a mix of both but I have to be honest, it is Preeto's love and the fact that I have to prove myself before my family and her family that I have become serious in life. I want to be responsible and make everyone proud of me. There might be differences between Beeji and me, currently, but I will always be with her. I will help and support her in anyway I can. Right now my goal in life is to become someone, earn money, name and respect. Be good enough to marry Preeto. I want to be able to support her and keep her happy. I want my family and her family to be proud of me."
In the upcoming episode, Maan will give Lucky a job in his company. Is that the best way to go? Maan says, "I don't know about that yet but I am going to help Lucky in anyway I can." Will he not still crave Beeji's approval? "Of course he will. Beeji and others are his family and no matter what family is very important in life. I hope Beeji sees the goodness in him and gives him her blessings."
Talking about mentors got Gurmeet thinking of mentors in his real life. He exclaims, "My mom and dad have always supported me in any and every endeavour. It is wonderful to have the backing of your family." Ahwaan too adds, "Personally my mentor and guide has been my dad. He is someone I trust totally and can talk to him about everything under the sun. He has always encouraged me to go after my dream and make them come true. When you have a support system at home, you get energized and feel you can conquer the world."
A STAR One.in source reveals, "In tonight's episode, Maan will ask Geet if she is happy and satisfied that he kept his word to her. Earlier Geet had taunted him saying he never lives upto his promises. So Geet realises Maan got offended and so she will manao and woo him with a song Woh hai zara khafa khafa."
Will Maan relent and patch up with Geet? To find out, tune into Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi every Monday to Friday at 9.30 PM, only on STAR One.
