Part 2- A sinful hold

The class ended with the ring of a bell and the students rushed out to lunch. She had a lot of catching up to do, as she entered in the middle of the semester. The professor gave her a slip to collect her class books and project sheets from the library. She left the yellow mobile and made her way towards the large building. She saw MK, and Tasha (as Yash had informed her) walking hand in hand with an entourage of artificial dolls and oversized boys walking behind them. They had a dominant, and dark aura and she didn't like it one bit. She had only met them an hour ago but she knew they were not the type of people she would like, they were rude and ignorant. They also had no respect for teachers. "Geet, why are you wasting your time thinking about those arrogant fools, go get you work done" she muttered, she had unusual habit of talking to herself.

Geet was a modest girl, brought up with traditional values. She would wake up and pray to God every morning. She would keep fasts on Tuesdays and she was strictly vegetarian. Though she was from an affluent family she was unpretentious. She would rather give than take, and she learnt to share with the unfortunate. Her mother was the same, but God had been very unkind to her...

She walked along the cracked ground, there was a long walk between the buildings, the architects did not design this college appropriately. As she was walking she heard quiet whimpers, she looked around but she couldn't spot a soul. The whimpers became louder and gradually turned to agonizing cries. She followed the sound, and she found a girl crying behind a tree. She was stunned by the state of the girl. Her mascara was running down her fair cheeks, and her lipstick was smudged. Her swollen tear filled eyes, were holding a blank expression. Her hair was dishevelled as were her clothes.

"He...he-"the girl kept muttering something that Geet couldn't quite hear, she bent down to her level as she put her hand on her shoulders to comfort her. "He wanted to...but I couldn't...no..I couldn't" The girl kept on rambling and Geet put her arms around the girl and gently told her to calm down. She was hugging a stranger, comforting her because that was what Geet was taught, the values her mother had instilled in her. After a while, the girl calmed down, so Geet decided she would question her. "It'll be OK, just tell me what happened" the girl was hesitant, but when she saw the sincerity and humbleness in her eyes she gave in. "He wanted to...he...he wanted to take our relationship to the next level, but I couldn't, I wasn't ready. So he tried to force himself on me" She again broke out into sobs, Geet patted and caressed her hair, "did he-", "no he didn't...I didn't let him" Geet was infuriated, this was rape, a sin. "What's his name?" she asked enraged in a low deathly whisper. No boy would get away with a crime so big. "Dev. Dev Singh Khurana, we call him 'Dave'" she whimpered, resting her head on Geet's lap.

Geet pulled the girl up making her stand up. "I'll get you justice, I'll make sure that b*****d rots in prison, don't you dare cry for a rotten scoundrel...wait I don't know your name" She steadily held her shoulders and firmly shook her, to get her attention "Parineeta Rathod" Geet took her arm and hauled her inside the building, they headed straight for the outdoor cafeteria. She scrutinized the area trying to spot a boy fitting Pari's description. She had no luck, the place was jammed with wild students.

"There" Pari pointed to a fairly tall boy clad in black casuals, flirting with a few girls and an entourage of people behind him. She stormed over to the boy and smacked him powerfully across the face. Dev was shocked, his cheek went numb but then he felt a searing pain spread across his face. He remained holding his cheek for a few minutes before looking up to a petite girl in a blue dress. He was fuming, and he aggressively grabbed her wrist "WHAT THE HELL?! Who in the hell are you?" Geet struggled out his hold; she was horrified by his behaviour "Don't you have any shame? You nearly raped a girl and here you're flirting with girls? You left her there all alone, crying her heart out. How dare you!" she was practically screaming by the end of her sentence, she raised he hand to slap him again but a rough hand held her back. "Don't you dare Handa, nobody touches my younger brother" she was appalled, he was defending a rapist! "How can you defend him, he tried to rape a girl!" He looked at her darkly as his hold grew firmer, he slowly dug his nails in her delicate skin. His eyes held a pernicious gleam and he twisted her wrist, ever so slowly. She winced in pain, but she didn't lower her gaze instead she looked at him challengingly. He let go of her wrist throwing her back, she harshly fell to the ground. The two brothers stormed off.

She couldn't believe the events that occurred today, was this how shameful the world has become? She thought is disgust. She got up and walked over to Pari, who was silently watching the commotion, tears threatened to spill as she covered her mouth to keep back whimpers. "Are you OK?" she asked Pari as she drew her in for a hug. The other students walked off, as there was no more entertainment for them to watch. They didn't care one bit. "I'll get you justi-", "no Geet, I'm OK. Dave was a mistake, I'll just forget about it" Geet looked at her in aghast, she was sickened by her behaviour and attitude. "Forget about it? This is not just about you, this about hundreds of girls, their safety, and their honour. This is about getting justice, and punishing sinners. If you don't do something about it, they will keep committing the same mistakes!" Geet shook Pari by her shoulders furiously "I don't care what you say, I'm filing a case against him" and with that she stormed off.

She walked through the abandoned streets of Sydney; the wind was growing fierce by the moment portraying her feelings inside. The sky darkened, and the cloud obscured the sun. Tears streamed down her cheek. Geet was a strong young woman, rarely did she cry she would use her brain and find a solution to her problem but today she felt an irrefutable pain in her heart. Not because she was disheartened by Pari's apathy, but because she was reminded of her father deeds. His infidelity.

*****

"Let go of me! How dare you cheat on me" she watched her mother bawl as her father held her in his arms, hurting her. "Shut up you wh*** you were the biggest mistake of my life!"Her father was shouting frantically and he wrathfully smacked her across the face. She fell to the floor, and her head hit the edge of the coffee table. Her mother was bleeding, the red liquid oozing out of her forehead. She wanted to run to her mother, to help her but she couldn't. She was afraid. She stood paralysed to her spot, silently weeping as her father let out his wrath. She heard him repeating one thing again and again "you were the biggest mistake of my life" She covered her mouth in shock, impeding her whimpers. She ran to her bedroom and locked the door. She could hear her mother's shrieks; she took out her phone and called the police immediately. After 10 minutes she heard the sirens and a knock at the door. "You bi***! The cops are here" she could hear her father shouting. The police forcefully broke the door and took him. She heard his insults, verbal abuse and the police taking him away. As soon as she heard the police leave, she ran downstairs and hugged her crying mother, holding her closely, trying to ease her sorrow.

Authors notes:-

I had a hard time writing this, because a close friend of mine faced a similar situation to Pari, but she of course sent the guy to prison. For me rape is the greatest sin and it's disgusting. Dev didn't force her into Sexual intercourse but he did try as you know from this quote ' "did he-", "no he didn't...I didn't let him" ' Gradually, Maan and Geet's pass will unviel, and you will know why they act the way they act. There will be some MaanEet moments, so don't worry!

Hope you guys like it! I'm sorry if it's short and this is unedited so please kindly ignore any mistakes.
