Giving high trps for the crappy Devini track they are currently showing is a double edged sword. They will be pleased that their strategy to move away from the original theme of the show to this degenerated regressive theme of sinners having it light and righteous made to look like buffoons is actually working. so we may get more of this or may be worse tracks. I think the focus of our halla bol should be to shift the show to the 11.00 pm slot and boldly show whatever they can safely show in terms of ideas and content or give the show a proper exit, closing all loops and making the sinners pay while retaining the basic tenets of the leads.

Its fairly ironic that just a week after discussing StarOne's confused positioning with someone, today we get to hear of StarOne's relaunch/rebranding initiative.

When the channel has spent 7 years in building a niche and branding itself as an urban youth channel- have the channel honchos thought about how overnight a new audience will be created for this channel with a more rural appeal?
Both GHSP and RBO were launched with a semi-urban appeal and yet the TRPs came only when they moved to an urban setting and dealt with more young subjects than Saas Bahu politics. The core audience for SO is a younger population- Look at this poll, in a sample of ~100 respondents 75% of the respondents are less than 25 years old. That should tell SO that rebranding alone wont get in the diametrically opposite audiences- and the Gujarati or the kitchen politics enamored audiences are not likely to view favorably a channel, which has only been associated with youngsters and romance. Why give up your core positioning, especially when it is unique in the market? Instead of leveraging it to strengthen your positioning and improving your content- You have gone ahead and decided to become a me to channel and compete with the biggies. NDTV did that and look how thats working out for them. Talk of taking a myopic view of the business
Instead of understanding why SO slipped from 50 pts to 30 pts in the GEC category looks like management is treating a disease when it doesnt even know what afflicts the patient.
Over the last 3 years SO has come up with interesting programming concepts- which have been handed over to Star Plus on a platter- Nach Baliye, Zara nachke dikha etc. and yet no interesting formats have been launched on the channel over the last one year. If Star continues to mete out such step motherly treatment to the channel- how is the channel expected to generate TRPs.
I would suggest that you take a hard look at CW TV (North America), how a channel has managed to not produce some excellent content but also established a loyal viewership- on content and innovative and cutting edge marketing.
Star is changing the product itself when only the marketing strategy needs to be changed. Its sad that a media house doesnt understand the basics of marketing and branding.

Wow Brilliant idea starone ,,, do it again and again like one in every year ... axe the old shows and do experiments with launching news how without even knowing the reason of the failure of previous experiments ... phew... and who can assure you the success of this new experiment?? you are going to end youth oriented shows to make a way for saas bahu sagas??

hmmm what will be it remained to ?? star saas-bahu or star-Gujju?? hmm if this wont work thn next year you'll try mythos?? star-mytho... next will be travel show.. star-yatra??? next cartoon shows,, star-Disney?? and the cycle continues ...

But the fact is that that Starone needs internal immunity instead of a plastic surgery ... plastic surgery will only give you a new look .. but who can assure new look will be appreciated by others?

1,Starone should get rid of star-plus's shadow which is not letting it grow well.. all the attention/ promotions/ credits are given to star-plus .. and starone is ignored like a step son..

2, do u guys believe in being "DIFFERENT" ?? yes whatever starone shows are about.. its different from other channel and gives it a different identity ,, and this identity shouldn't be compromised for anything..

3, before you judge any show, can you plss consider the ground realities ??
Does star one has the nationwide reach like star-plus has???
if a channel is not available in most of the places how can you compare its TRPs with others channel who have a better reach???

so plss stop experimenting with it again and again.. and plss DONT END GHSP... its the best show of starone by far... with this decision you will loose all your loyal viewers.. let the star-plus enjoy the family viewership...and starone should remain a youth based show...

@Shrads and Shonuu:Very well written👏👏...Star one needs a reality check asap ..every year this bhooth of revamp is not taking their channel anywhere and they r only loosing their loyal viewership from the channel and when it comes to attracting saas-bahu crowd ,well why will they watch star-one for gujju shows ??...instead they hv better options like colors or zee or star plus which r at least originals in saas-bahu trend unlike star one which will b only considered as copy cats if they go into saas-bahu genre just because other channels hv done so...Audience always prefers original than copy-cats and in this case audience will prefer colors or zee or star puls for thier saas-bahu sagas rather than giving trps to Star-one😆...Star-one has its loyal viewership only because of youth shows and if they loose that flavour then they will hv nowhere to go...😆...

If trps r not coming,its not because of the show quality,its because star one's net reach is low...Even today major part of India r not getting this channel and r forced to watch the shows online...so if they want to do something to improve their trps then they better improve the reach of the channel and make sure star one is seen all over India...then trps will automatically come for their youth shows😊

Last but not the least after ending DMG and MJHT ..they introduced some shows like DLMH with political background to experiment...Did it work ??...Instead they even lost the loyal viewership of DMG and MJHT fans resulting in lower trps ...Once again Star one is going to do the same mistake if they end GHSP for some saas-bahu drama...They r going to loose a huge loyal fan base from the channel for sure...So now the choice is star one's...if they want to put the axe on their own feet then fine noone can stop them from commiting suicide😆..but if after seeing this huge outburst ,they hv got some senses back ,then they will never dare to end GHSP at least this year...

@Opti:At least if we manage to first save the show ,then later we can also manage to convince the channel that saas-bahu genre will not work for them so at least keep GHSP out of saas-bahu saga😆 and experiment your formula with your other new shows so that at least GHSP can stand out from the rest and we promise to give them trps...But before doing that we need to make sure that the show is safe and is not going off ..so that later we can do the other halla--bol😆...Fan-Power in the past hv managed to save many star-one shows from ending or changing their genre.,..so why not this time ?😳

Star One is utterly confused and thats why after its initial start which was bright it cud never carry on in terms of quality ...I mean where are the kind of shows it started with Sarabhai vs Sarabhai n all ...and the others ...and thsi channels suffers from confusion ...i mean isnt it in its favor if it remains a specialist or niche channel rather than it taking on the biggies like SP and Zee and Colors ...I mean Sony cant compete with then ...where will star one get the ammunition from all the best Saas - bahu family soaps prefer these main channels ...does star one want to be a channel that airs the rejected garbage ...Youth oriented ...ummm i dont think so the channel was that except when it started with remix n all ...the soaps later on were pretty much family style except the Saas bahu vamp angle was limited...its better to be limitedly different than be a part of the bandwagon ...and also why be the last ...when somewhere serving a certain kind of audience u can be number one ...

Sony TV does a revamp every 4 months what have they achieved its still the cricket that gets them the trps and money😆

Also Channel interference kills shows ...its just like over interference of a coach can kill a team ...sometimes to get the best results u need to sit back and observe

@Pooja: they may be typical but they are definitely targeted towards a younger audience. Even Geet- is not a very conventional plot as far as Indian tellydom is concerned. You and I are jaded by all international shows that we watch- for Indian TV this is fairly a niche audience.

MJHT, DMG- were all shows with colleges in their backdrop- how many GEC channel shows can claim that?

I know we love to heckle, but lets give credit where its due!

Just having a backdrop as a college and turning it into the same kind of story is not really being different ...if just being set in a college or a hospital ...and then having the same triangles and angles ...and same kind of situations which main GEC's have in more family kind of environment is not being different in my opinion but if that enuf is a criterion for being different then so be it ...i am no one to complain or feel bothered about it cause ultimately its the show and its story that works for me and not just the youth backdrop...and I wud rather prefer a rural show which sticks to its story than a college based show which has nothing to do with the college or where the so called youth has nothing identifiable

Anyway the class with which Star one was launched isnt there any more ...

Let me tell you something,

Do you know there is something called "The world is moving forward..."

Back in the days when we didn't get any shows, we loved Saas- Bahu saga... But with the more talented writers we get something new, something called "youth based"--- something that we have never seen before. Saas- Bahu saga, repeats stuff over and over again and again. We as a viewer already know what's gonna happen in the show.

Instead of those shows, we watch the youth based show coz those are new shows, the idea that we have never seen before. All you care about is TRPs TRPs TRPs, you want to change it to saas bahu saga soo grandparents, parents will watch the show and the TRPs will increase. but let me tell u something...

Nope, it won't... it will even decrease the trps coz the audiences that are watching the shows will never watch yr channel again. For ex--- after the end of Kis desh mein hai mera dil.. i have never seen Star Plus show, coz i hate star plus for making it end. After Geet ends, i will never want to watch Star one too.

And talking about Zee tv and Colors... NO ONE WATCHES THAT CHANNEL!!!!

coz those channel are freaking stupid and all they create is drama that no one is interested in. For ex- Sanskar Laxmi, i watched few episodes of it just for vivan bhatena, after few episodes, i realized, it's not worth watching.

Same with Choti Bahu... i don't know why there is part 2 to it.. we don't like those kind of shows.

Don't u see how popular those shows are.. Geet and Kitani mohabbat hai.

Do u know there is something called Internet too... You can see how popular those shows are... Not only TV but there is something called Internet where u can see how popular those shows are... (not only trps count)

At the beginning i used the quote "The world is moving forward" and u guys are stuck in the same stuff. Move on channel, move on, move forward, move on with the time, if youths love this show then accept the fact!!

Their primary audience is a young audience- if they want to watch and reward romance and bickering- we cant do anything about it. DLMH is again a political saga- while there is romance- there is ample movement on the theme.

I still think DMG, MJHT and GHSAP are different from the 100s of overdressed women slaving over a stove and chopping vegetables day in day out and dying a slow death due to their self sacrificial nature.

I havent come across any show which has stuck to its story in the last one year in which I have been trying to widen the base of hindi GEC shows that I watch. If you have recommendations of rural shows that are true to their story- I would be happy to watch!
