Gargi...... Sometimes even I used to wonder if Gujarati's are always dressed to go out even at home during the initial days of Kekta's serials....Then I made a few friends here in US and realized TV shows are vastly exaggerated and Gujaratis are very thrifty people....some thing to learn from..

one of my good friends' husband started a taxi service. But if a driver did not turn up, he would take the taxi and go himself. She would feel so bad that he would be waiting in the parking lot like a driver. But he told her, i have started a business and when you start your own, you are the peon as well as CEO, so big deal. When it comes on you, then the sensitivity of how you behave with others dawns.

I sit outside my son's class for 1 1/2 hours because it is a waste of time to drop and come back and then go and pick him up again. But that school does not allow parents to come inside. so i sit in the car like a driver. So i love to call myself an unpaid driver.

An- Yes. In my college and here in Mumbai, girls who wear salwars daily to the class are called as behenji and its like how it is in the telly shows. Sad but true.

@All: I think the stereotyping begins with gender first and then different cultures. In shows the women are made to cry all the time and been shown as weaklings. GHSP has changed that somewhat but there is still plenty more to be shown.😊
