I had written this is to Priti in a PM and i repeat to you

Have grown up with sardars and they are an amazing people.

1. they actually believe in dignity of labour.

2. they do voluntary work in the gurudwara where every person will do jhadu poncha and if you go there, they will even take out the shoes from your feet. That sardar taking out the shoes from your feet could be even a millionaire doing voluntary work at the gurudwara. have seen it myself in Delhi.

3. very upright people. Standard instructions for all girls used to be when we were in college and had to travel by auto at night, take an auto with a sardar driver, you will be safe.

Of course times have changed and all the auto sardars have moved to canada but took with them their lesson of all people are equal and hard work is the key to success and not your status. you make your status, you don't have to be born with it.

But if we expect serials to represent all this, we really ahve high hopes and they are bound to be dashed. they suit themselves according to their whims and fancies.

NS, you remember there was a scene in Lagey Raho Munnabhai where the girl is on a date and calls Sanjay to ask how could she judge the guy. And he says look at how he calls the waiter. If he addresses him respectfully that means he's a nice guy. I often observe how ppl call workers under them in the same way after that. 😆
