Here is what Mishti wrote on FB in Anj's thread..let me paste it here...
Anjana, Gagori, Anamika and all other friends on this topic ... thanks for forcefully giving the CVs such big pieces of your minds!
Here's my take on the two big reasons why I think Abhinav SHOULD NOT be given a sweet goodbye!
REASON ONE: His character as Dev was one of unforgiveable crime!
Whatever may have been his financial and wife-encouraged pressures, he was a bigamist, a mariage-fraudster, a dowry-grabber, and a loose-moral debauch who could sleep with impunity with a girl he intended to cheat wholesale. He ruined her life in her family, in her society - and if not for a saviour like Maan she would have been one of those nameless, faceless millions of girls who get trampled on and discarded for no fault of theirs.
Do the CVs even believe that he can be left to quit the serial in a dignified exit? It's bad enough that he wasn't even in jail for more than two episodes! He is then seen flirting with another girl who is not even his wife.
C'MON CVs, with which guts can you even consider a decent exit for a character like this one? If you even tried it, it would totally insult the sentiments and intelligence of everyone who has been loyally watching the serial so far!
REASON TWO: Abhinav the actor appears to have done harakiri to his own role (if one hears the rumours).
The whole problem according to my understanding may have started out because the serial began with about two weeks of storyline without Maan ... a time when the ultra romantic role of Abhinav was created as a way to show how he cajoled Geet and her family to go ahead with the marriage. He was given eyelocks with Geet and rose petals flowed in their scenes together and watchers wrote about how cute the couple was... alas, the actor no doubt thought he was shaping up with the talents of a romantic hero.
Then bang! One fine day Maan wades into the water to rescue Geet, in his bare body and mesmeric eyes and all that ... and the rest is history. Dev was forgotten and the whole crowd went ga-ga over the Maaneet chemistry, forcing the channel and the CVs to ensure that almost every episode since then is filled with 18 minutes of romance between the lead pair and the remaining 3 minutes shared by all the other actors.
Abhinav should have seen this coming. On the contrary, rumours were rife that he was getting pissed off with his secondary role (especially with Nayantara being the prime villain, and he the mousy little sidekick). All manner of speculation was on that he was disinclined to do a negative role ... and these speculations seemed to be the possible reasons why he was being given footage to show off his bare body, and romance Meera instead of Nayantara, and become a remorseful villain sorry for his misdeeds.
Who made this mistake? The CVs or Abhinav? We can never know. But the result? We had one of the most pathetic villains in the history of Indian television!
The only time I ever felt Abhinav may rise to the quality that can challenge Gurmeet was the day Dev slapped Nayantara for the first time when she came upon him at the lodge wih Geet (the suhaag raath night). After that slap, all went "tain-tain-phiss".
How often all of us wrote on this forum that Dev should become a strong villain as he has one of the best opportunities to showcase his versatility as an actor in this serial.
Now look at this mess ... he is disgusted with his role, the CVs are in sixteen minds about what to do with him, and the audience wants to stuff him!
Abhinav should not have compared himself to Maan ... he should instead have looked to do exactly what "Arjun" is now successfully doing (i.e giving Maan a good takkar!).
Arjun has everything going - a strong body plus a terrific role as a "smooth operator" villain, that he can do wonders with. Abhinav can but only look at Arjun now and say "this is what I could have done, if only I had seized the chance to be a "sauve and ruthless villain" and not tried to become the "wimpy-sub-romantic-hero"!
Even now Dev has a chance to make a memorably-radical exit - punishment, jail, a roaring fight - whatever ... but I have a feeling that as usual its going to be "Mr. Sweet Dev waving a sweet goodbye as he boards a sweet plane for sweet Canada with his sweet new Meera wife"!
God forbid!
