Nice post... I was thinking about it since a long time.. why Bolly is not reconiging the talent... Actually i was concerned .. if they enter Bolly we get to see them only once or twice a year but if they on Telly we can see them daily... don't we miss them...

WHAT HAS HAPPENED
The TRPs of Geet HSP are down . For weeks they were hovering in 0.7-0.8 category but last to last week (week ending on November 5) the ratings went down to 0.6 Last week (The week ending on November 12) TRPs increased by only a point to 0.7. There are multiple reasons for the lowered TRPs ' religious festivals, stiff competition from reality shows in the same time slot, and new shows of a similar genre being launched by other channels. It remains No.1 on Star One, but is sharing the spot now with Pyar ki ek Kahani. The falling TRPs are a worry....

WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT

Promotion! Promotion! & Promotion! of Geet HSP!

Geetians, make this your mantra until the TRPs are back on track!

REMEMBER: New promo makes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxtF6d6UJ-s) it clear Maan-Geet will soon reunite, which means high voltage romance and drama. Its therefore the PERFECT TIME TO PROMOTE GEET HSP!!! LETS UTILIZE IT!

HOW

Real World:

Part of the problem here is lower reach of Star One because of which majority of TRP population (those who don't frequent online forums) dont even know about Geet. This needs to be rectified through promotions on our part.
Make Sure that your TV is tuned into Star one at least 5 minutes before 9.30 because TRP machine notes down the trp of a show exactly when it starts..so if Geet starts at 9.29pm ,it will b recorded exactly that time only...so if we tune even 1 min late and then watch the whole show, it will of no use because trps won't b calculated then... If u r having two TV sets at your home,make sure u tune in both the TV sets 5 mins before the Geet show starts so that the trp gets registered from both your TV sets exactly when the show starts ..after 2 mins of the show has passed if u want u can switch off one TV set because trps at the start has already been registered...but make sure u r watching the show full in your other TV set without changing the channel because if the second Trp technique (see next post for details) is followed then not just the start point but the whole of 30mins will b recorded ...

People living in India watch the show at 9.30PM on your TV set instead of watching repeats because a channel always gives top priority to its prime time trps rather than repeat trps...Repeat trps r also taken into count to decide the overall ranking of a channel, but priority wise prime time is given more importance and so our motto should b to watch the show at 9.30 only if we want Geet's trp to rise...even if we hv some work or not able to watch it, just keep the TV open on star one 5 minutes before 9.30...later u can watch the repeat ..


Word of Mouth Advertising: Try to do word of mouth publicity for this show among your friends, neighbours and relatives and convince them to watch this show at 9.30pm because its not a typical Star one show.. Talk about the Maaneet romance and how magical it is to every woman you know. Fish out Kurbaan Hua or Hum Tum or Pee Loon or any of your favorite scenes and MAKE THEM WATCH IT!!!! (that's how I convinced my friends to watch Geet ) Talk about what a strong heroine Geet is and how she has stood up to every challenge thrown at her (eg her awesome confrontation with NT) Dissect MSK there are a million or so things about him which can be used for Geet promotion


Email and call up Star One as much as you can everyday demanding they start airing repeats again at 11:30 and Promote Geet with new & more frequent promos. Geet TRPs always increased in the weeks when Star One frequently aired promos such as Hum Tum and the Outhouse sequences. During these two sequences TRPs climbed to 1.5 bcoz of the new and frequent promos aired during the week. We should also insist upon Geet promotion through coverage in SBS/SBB once every two weeks, newspapers & magazines (both online and offline).


Also encourage Star One to upload the episodes immediately onto StarPlayer and market promptly to their online viewers, so they don't loose customers to unofficial uploaders.

Star One gives a lot of importance to show and actor rankings on websites like India-Forums:
1. Visit the IF profiles of both Gurmeet Chaudhary and Drashti Dhami as often as possible.

2. Comment on both the profiles twice in 24 hours (the maximum allowed).

3. Comment as much as possible in the articles either or both have been tagged in.

4. Encourage everyone you know to officially become their fans on IF.

5. Those members who are officially fans of Gurmeet on his IF profile, please join Drashti's page as well. Same goes for members of Drashti fan club who havent yet joined Gurmeet's. For the betterment of Geet as well as Gurmeet & Drashti's success, their positions on top of the lists need to be maintained

6. Hit the chaska meter on Geet forum EVERYDAY

7. Try to be as active on the forum as possible

Facebook & Other Online Mediums:
1. Encourage your friends and relatives to create an account on facebook and join the Geet HSP official page on FB

2. Try and generate curiosity about Geet by posting VMs of Geet or links of say Kurbaan Hua in groups/pages of which you are a part.

3. In your MSN messenger, Facebook, G-Talk, Orkut, Twitter and other such places with status fields ' mention Geet HSP and encourage ppl to tune in to Star 1 at 9:30

4. If u have blogs or personal pages on MySpace for instance then put a little (or big) endorsement for Geet HSP along with the timing.

5. Join the fan pages of BOTH GC & DD, Geet on IF and other forums like Indya.com

We need pretty faces in Bollywood. after seeing Priyanka Chopra, zero size Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Jenelia, I feel Bollywood producers should turn onto new fresh faces like Drashti. We are tried of models who make it to films with no talent. Drashti looks very pretty, very feminie, a next door girl, beautiful dancer, very expressive face, beautiful smile. She has all the potential of a good actress that Bollywood is looking for. I think a good script should come her way and she will do justice to it. Drasthi can give good dialogue delivery.

I so agree with you. Both Gurmeet and Drashti are such natural actors and they touch the heart. I sure hope that some big banner notices them and gives them a break they deserve because we all know that in Bolywood you need a connection otherwise it is very difficult to make it big. And THESE TWO can really really make it big.

And I also hope that Star One promotes Geet in a better way because so many people in India don't even know about this fabulous show and the amazing acting abilities of these two lead actors.

I am from USA, and so many of my American friends love to watch Geet. I am trying to think of ways to promote Geet here. People are so in India and Indian movies and Indian shows here. Any ideas would be welcome.
