Love Dawns .................
It had been a long time since he had returned to her life. She was not just overjoyed at seeing him but was overwhelmed when he beckoned her into his arms. She had hurried into his arms and had wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. She didn't care what anyone thought at this show of exhibition. She did what her heart told her. Her life was total only when this man was with her. His support and understanding was something she had come to rely on. It was only when he had seemed to drift away that she realised how empty her life was. He had always been once step ahead of her in order to protect her. She understood that now when he had been absent and when she had been torn to shreds that fateful day in the office. And it was from him that she had learnt how to hold her ground, stand up for herself and bring truth to light. He had taught he what determination meant, what self-respect meant and inadvertently how to raise her self-esteem.
She wanted to make this day of his return a memorable one for herself. She knew she had to make certain resolutions. A resolution to never distrust him and a promise to always be with him. She dressed up in a white and red saree that shimmered in the dim light of the room. The moon was passing by and the gentle breeze lifted the curtains to brush her hands lightly in a caress. She felt as if he had touched her and she shivered. A blush stole over her face and her eyes remained downcast.
"Geet!" said a voice.
It was him. She could recognise his voice anywhere. She suddenly felt shy and withdrew behind the curtains. The air of the night blew on her warm cheeks and her hair flicked over her face. Her bangles tinkled as she drew her hands to her heart. Why did she feel so good? so safe? so cared for? How long was it since anyone had looked at her as an entity rather than an object ?
She looked at the moon and took a deep breath. She was moved by an intense emotion that she could not recognise nor control. She felt a bonding with the man in the room whose eyes were keenly seeking her out. She made a promise more to herself than to him that she would never do anything foolish like leaving him again. She would always stay by his side and be there whenever he needed her. She called upon the moon and the wind to be witnesses to this oath that she was silently taking. Witnesses that would be there eternally to remind her of this blessed day.
She felt elated, she felt loved, she felt the need to belong and she felt the need to cherish and be cherished.
It was indeed true ........... Love is a many splendoured thing ..............
