Hello Star One & Mr. Mirchandani,
This is the first time I am directly writing to u! We heard about the chopping & editing u r busy with in respect to our show Geet HSP! All this while we were screaming at top of our lungs to the creatives of the show for discontinuity in the storyline & character inconsistency & now I am appalled to know this was not their fault but the channel's.
We r the audience u all cater to & we r the ones who give u ur desired TRP's & this is the way u all treat us? All this while not only we were attached to the show but we lived, breathe, dreamt about it in its journey so far & we contributed to its storyline by giving suggestions & ideas. We r so involved with it & then when the time comes we see there r major gaps in storyline & character growth because Star One apparently has edited some major scenes thus leaving us all bewildered.
Nissar & entire Geet team is brilliant! They don't need spoon feeding every step of their way. They know what they r doing & how they r taking the story forward & how the characters r shaping up so why r they being told what to do & what not to? Just because the channels r telecasting the show it means they will have the last word? It doesn't matter whether the creativity of the show is hampered or not? Whether the audience for whom u telecast the show r happy or not? And it is us the viewers who give u ur desired TRP's, why do u all forget this?
For months now we were telling Nissar that the main male protagonist's fight within himself has to be showcased big time, he has to suffer, burn within himself before he comes out of it unscathed like a phoenix rising renewed from its ashes & what do we get?? A blank canvas!! The ricocheting of Maan Singh Khurana couldn't even be fathomed to the desired depth & seriousness because we couldn't see him remembering & living the moments of the past, thus connecting the dots, repenting properly, understanding Geet's pain, reaching out to her on a grand level & all these were chopped off unceremoniously!! I really wonder why?? Why this rush? R u all in a hurry to end the show so soon? When we r not complaining about the pace of the show then why is the channel facing the headache of cutting it all short? I trust Nissar & team & if they have shot some scene then I know its important & worth watching & under no circumstances I want to see that scene lying in a dark, dingy, dusty room under some 10000's of film rolls.
The creatives know the storyline & the characters along with us & they know what to show & what not to! So pls refrain from using ur scissors on something u have no knowledge about! For this we r losing the character consistency as well as the flow of the storyline. And when this happens let me tell u, u will be the ones who will ultimately suffer because u will not garner the desired TRP's from us, the unsatisfied audience.
We wanted to see some wonderful mature conversation between Maan & Geet & that too was edited. We expected some wonderful serious interactions at certain juncture & we again lost out on it & guess why? Yes its because ur scissors were too impatient to know its real bounds. It went beyond the limits & thus spoiled our story. We r not hormone crazy teenagers who simply loves to watch eye locks & coochicooing! We love romance handled maturely along with adult interactions. But we were deprived of it.
And since I am reiterating about our being adults we would also like to watch an adult mature love story with all its flair & share! If we had to watch simple eye locks I would have watched ur other shows on air which highlights only these. Nowadays the viewers have matured a lot, they r sick of juvenile plots & saas-bahu sagas. They want to see something unique, mature & yet romantic & Geet here fits the bill. So I would like the treatment & handling to be mature as well. If its an adult love story then we shouldn't cringe seeing some mature bold love scenes as well, India has progressed in every respect & if we can openly accept western shows & movies then I am sure we can handle some relatively bold scenes in Indian show as well. So definitely I wouldn't want Star One to cower in front of some self-employed-moral police-parties-organisations to edit some romantic scenes because these handful people think it will taint the mind frame of Indian audiences. Let the masses talk for themselves. If we don't like it u will not get TRP's, simple! If we do like as always Geet will be the number one TRP garner. So pls we r all adult here & definitely wouldn't mind watching some adult concept & mature scenes if the scene & story demands, for all minors they can follow the guidance from their parents. Geet is a story with social issues but the vehicle they have chosen is romance to convey these issues to the audience. if the channel compromise on this very ground then the essence of the story will be lost.
So I hope u will not be hasty enough to please some political groups or social organisations in giving us brief versions of the union of heart, body & soul in Geet. We want the whole nine yards, the whole enchilada. Its not always we get a show with a good storyline, plot, direction, execution & acting & now that we have this in form of Geet we don't want any form of hurdles in portraying its true essence because of some political or social groups or from the channel itself. So pls next time before u edit something keep the audience in mind, specially the TRP's they give u all to smile all the way to ur banks.
And just for sometime think about the amount of toil goes in to put up that 1 scene u r chopping of! Not only the directors, actors, writers r robbed of their precious work but also the audience r cheated too. So pls Star One henceforth let the team do their own work without interfering & let the audience do their own work, watch & give u TRP's & let the channel be happy about it all. Thanks, hope I my message won't fall in deaf ears.
