So CV's we were able to knock some sense in to you yesterday. Do you guys always need serious bashing for you to give us good work? I hope not, because I really don't like bashing you guys. Anyways, the episode was good. Much better than yesterday'though a bit of a lack luster.
The episode begins with Maan changing Geet's clothes. Now, I really wasn't sure if he would really do it. But he did. Don't have anything to say on that besides that you gotta love the respect the dudes got for his lady.
Moving on, Geet tugs at Maan's hand when he tries to leave, I love how he keeps trying to get away from her but he can't help but stay by her side. It hurts him so much to see her now, but he stays for her. When Geet says, "mujhe aap par pura bharosa hai", Maan blows up on her. He says the word "bharosa" does not suite her. You know why? Because he feels that he could not gain her "bharosa". That is the reason behind his anger. He loves this girl so much and he feels that he was not even worthy to gain her trust. To him, his love has fallen short and it failed in some way because she didn't tell him before. Do you guys get what I'm saying?
Maan then tells Geet that he brought her home so Dadima didn't feel bad. But dadi didn't even know. Do you guys see him trying hide how much he cares for her? He feels that if he lets her see, he might break again. His ego is something that will always be in the way. He is not willing to let his guard down for one second. Very soon he will realize that everything he does for Geet is not just for her protection, but for him too. He is in pain now, but he will go trough something a thousand times worse if he ever hurts her or lets her get hurt.
I'm going to go into my Psycho analyst mode now. So how may of you guys have heard of Sigmund Freud? I'm sure many of you have. Me being a psychology major, am firm believer in his theories. One of his theories is about Id, ego, and superego. The Id is our basic instinct that tells us to serve ourselves first, the superego is our conscious and keeps track of the rules (our morals), the ego is the one that balances between these two. Maan's Id tells him to stay away from Geet because she inflicts pain on him.. Maan's superego tells him that he must protect her. So his ego tells him to protect her for her sake. But now you may ask how is that balancing between the Id and superego? Well this is where Freud's theory of the unconscious mind comes in. The theory says that our actions are a product of our unconscious mind. Basically we (our personalities) are a result of things that our conscious mind is not aware of. Don't you guys ever get the feeling when you do something but don't really know why you did it? That's because the answer is hidden in your unconscious mind. Our unconscious mind is affected by the experiences in our lives. Now lets talk about Maan. Why does Maan stay with Geet despite how hurt he is? Because he cannot live without her. His unconscious mind knows this, his conscious does not. Hence, the questioning in the bathroom, about why she came into his life and why he can't leave her despite how much she hurt him. But his ego does know the answer. That is why there is a balance. His Id says run as fast you can, his super ego says: you have to be there for her. His ego says : No, you have to stay because she means more to you than you realize and you will suffer later if you let her go.
Okay here's some more psychology behind why Maan hasn't connected all the dots behinds Geet's behavior yet. It is because of Short-term / Working memory. Short term memory allows you to hold a limited amount of info for a limited amount of time. Working memory allows you to work with the info in short term memory. It manipulates your short term memory. In Maan's short term memory, the revelation of Geet's pregnancy is still fresh. So his working memory only remembers this fact. Therefore his working memory is not yet allowing him to put all the pieces together. Like it says, it manipulates what ever is in you short term memory, so Maan's behavior is triggered from this. Then there is state dependent memory, where our state of mind (mood) effects what we remember and how we act. I'm sure that one was obvious (or probably all of these are obvious). I could definitely give you guys tons of other types of memories that explain Maan's behavior. But I feel like I'm just babbling and probably don't make sense. I wanted to give you guys some scientific back up for Maan's behavior. LOL.
Maan venting his anger in the bathroom was a good scene. Gurmeet did an awesome job with the expressions. No one else can do justice to such a scene besids Gurmeet. And do I even have to mention how hot he looked? Well I'll mention it anyways, he looked hot!!! Okay, back to serious business, The importance of him remembering their friendship scene is to remind him that she needs him and that she can't stand to fight him all the time. Maan knows that more than ever before she needs him now. He loves her to such an extent that he is willing to go through anguish to protect her. But I don't think he has realized how much he loves her yet. He knows (somewhere deep in his mind) that neither can live with out the other.
Well the scene with Dev was not a surprise at all. I didn't expect him to ever confess to Maan, from the moment he began to preach his "main bro ko saab such bata donga" mantra. And did you guys seriously think you could fool us with that close encounter with Geet? We're not dim. Its not time for Dev Geet confrontation yet. That will come after Parineeta moment. That should be loud and clear to you CV's. I have said it so many times, Dev is selfish and a coward. He does things for his own benefit. He was always going to back out at the last minute. Dev is and always will be a negative character. CV's I'm glad that he finally got a chance to speak to Maan, because the hide and seek was getting boring. Now that is out of the way, you can move on with Maan and Geet's relationship.
Papita scene was my favorite scene today, because it told me about how much Maan loves Geet. First and foremost, it told me that Maan wants to protect Geet's baby as much as her. He has already accepted the baby (though unknowingly). Yes, the truth itself is hard to take for him, but he has accepted the child. Second, it told me that he's not angry about her pregnancy itself, but rather that she hid the truth (yes, yes, I know I already said this many times before. But this scene is proof again). It will take time for Maan to fully accept the truth to himself. He is taking it step by step. Gradually he will begin acknowledge that he loves Geet no matter what her past is and that he simply cannot be without her. Once he see's all this within himself, he will allow Geet to tell him her story. Now tell me you guys, wasn't this such a sweet scene? Now why did we get this scene?...because of the baby of course. Even after being angry at Geet, Maan smiled at her and laughed with her. So the baby will not take away the love and romance they have. Thank you Mr. Hawk eye for not giving us a full display of Maan's teeth like you did the other day (looks like you listen to us), still I like Gurmeet's smile. Now, that smile and laugh was done in Maan style. Had a subtle touch. Good job Nissar!
Precap - hmmmm.... I don't want to talk about it before I see the entire scene. One thing though, Maan will regret telling her that he hates her.
I just saw the new promo with Maan saying he wants to know the truth. Well it was bound to happen. Now I get the importance behind him saying he doesn't like seeing tears in her eyes. Maan himself will take the step to find out the truth.
Overall a 8/10. I'm being nice because you guys seem to be listening. Plus I enjoyed the papita scene and Maan mirror breaking scene a lot. There was something missing in today's epi. Perhaps it didn't have the usual oomph that the other epi's had. Still it was good. But today there was progression and I see the build up to the moment that Geet will get her chance to explain herself.
