Well, I feel that the episode was quite a dampner because they did not include Maan monologue during the office party sequence which would have given us insight to his thinking. The morning scene was fine with Dadi. Maan was concerned about how this whole fake engagement thing will affect Geet's sentiments because he knew she went along with the plan reluctantly and that too because he said it was to please Dadima. He did not realise that Dadima is one smart lady who would put him in a fix insisting that the 'engagement' is known to the world. So he kept checking Geet's expressions and acting accordingly. Coming to the office scene, again an unexpected party. If they had shown Maan thinking to himself "Now how will I protect Geet from further embarrassment. Maybe if I have her busy with dismantling the decorations, I can save her" and then proceeds to order Geet around, it would have been more acceptable to people.
The cake scene was again an ill thought out one. If Geet had given a small piece of cake to Maan instead of the huge chunk, then Maan's monologue as to how to not eat the cake and at the same time hide the ring would have made sense because the ring would have been right in the middle of that small piece. So he would have to remove the ring in order to be able to eat the cake but if he removes the ring, everyone will be aware of it and he will be forced to put it on Geet who clearly was looking uncomfortable. So giving importance to Geet's sensitivity, he could have then told himself, "Well, this is my only way out" and proceeded to fake kiss her.
Coming to the kiss itself, I think the situation warranted the dispassionate, mechanical kiss because he just wanted to fake it, keeping in mind Geet's feelings and also fool the rest of the crowd.
The kiss and the exaggerated sweet heart was for the benefit of the office staff and his dadi and was deliberately OTT because if Maan really wanted to kiss his girl and use endearments on her he would do them more seductively and subtly and most probably privately, given that he is generally a very private man.
He wanted to drag her from the place to explain his position but Geet being Geet did not catch Maan's train of thought and took offense to the kiss and endearment. Maan, I guess, just snapped and asked her to wipe her hands and mouth before they talk. This was to give him time for two things.
1.Compose his own frayed thoughts and find a way out of the hole he seems to have gotten into with this 'fake engagement' thing.
2.To either hide the ring which was still stuck in the cake or hand it over to her and ask her to put it on herself just to satisfy his Dadima.
Now some wondered why he did not wipe Geet's mouth himself but then his hands too were smeared with cake. Maybe he did not want to smudge her face further.
At the end of all that rambling what I am trying to say is that the while the idea behind the episode was OK, the episode itself was poorly executed which is why people feel that there is no character consistency. The CVs may have thought that suble actions will be caught on by the viewers but when the characters behave in starkly contrasting ways within a span of less than 24 hours, subtility alone does not help. One needs a few self conversations/loud thoughts (atleast from Maan's side), to explain the contrary actions of the leads.

yes , that kiss was a bit mechanical but i didn't get one thing , why Maan was soo angry after watching all arrengements , he should be happy cause he got chance to do romance with geet in front of whole office,
I also not getting that why he is he behaving that way, i mean one moment he is soo much in love with Geet and next moment i mean day he is so angry over her , why?😕.
i can understand Geet's behaviour but what about Maan ?

Like I said previously - I liked the way Geet behaved in the 1st 15 mins - perfectly the way a girl at 18 who is naive and inspiration is movies would behave!!
Either editing issues or some scene was cut off 😳😳

I didnt find the episode as disappointing as many here do. Come on, you cannot have meetha all the time. I feel that Maan's behaviour today was more to respect Geet's feelings, since he is still not sure whether she is OK with this relationship or not and he doesnt want to hurt her by forcing her into anything. Although the kiss looked mechanical, Maan was all the time looking at her. I somehow liked the entire episode. As long as Maaneet occupy the screen, I have no complaints.

@jasw..yes..it was..an act...to be finished..but even then..he had to close his eyes..for he had felt a frisson...did he not...i saw it..his look to Geet told her to grin and bear but she was too embarrassed..and
he tried to calm her down once they were in the office..by one releasing his hold on her..and two..to go wash her hand and face..because he had felt..he had used her to put a show..and she should wash it off..it was again symbolic..that the cake had marred her face..and her hands were soiled for it had not been a real kiss by him..but..a sham...
a symbolism..everywhere. is what i see...

@ jasw..
Maan lives inside..me..and i am in his head..most of the time...
i see things.. somehow..even i donno how...must be my passion being reflected there..
and Geet is too young to understand a man period..her experiences with a man have not been good..so she will need lot of assurances...she will have self doubts...so she will indulge in tests..that will give her assurances..but she has a fragile frame of mind..it will take only one..small nudge..to blow the assurances away and start the self doubts..
Maan has work on his hands alright..
I loved how u found the symbolism in the cake scenes - I watched the epi again after reading ur take on it to see it through ur eyes.. And I must say - I did like the epi.. Like I told Nags - I was happy with the epi - the 1st 15 mins and also the last scene.. Only the kiss........Somehow I expected a little more.. I know he is not into PDA... But the romantic in me ......sigh...
And I can understand Geet's POV... I too would be embarrassed and blushing if something like this happened- But she looked more scared than embarrased to me 😆😆...
And I know that Maan lives in ur head- thats y we WANTEd u here today. and u were basking under the sun and romancing with Maan in ur mind.. Not fair , not fair... 😭😭

I was more confused by Geet's behaviour....I mean I couldn't figure the reason behind Geet's scardy cat look right thru the ring/cake episode.

Only the day before, she decided that Maan cares for her and has probably decided to reciprocate his overtures if and when he shows them.

But at the mention of the ring by dadi, she has a fit of vapours and Maan took his cue from her.

I suppose the reason for his anger from that point is simple....in his mind, here is one more proof of Geet's reluctance.....that must have put him in a bad mood thruout the office scene.

Now, seeing him angry, Geet gets upset...I guess yesterday was a case of being at crosspurposes....and as opti said so correctly, the Cv expected us to pick on that.

I just wish Geet looked a little more enthusiatic about dadima's enagagement idea....she ought to have after her journey of discovery the night before.

i m with u nags.ya! i felt exactly the same.maan loves geet and he never misses an opportunity to enjoy the close moment with her.even during his denial days,he was lost whenever they were caught in a situation in which they were close to each other.so this time when he has accepted his feelings for geet and has a chance so what made him to behave like a robot while he was kissing her hand.i think geet and maan both should have an intense eye lock at that time followed by a very passionate kiss.coz both of them know that they love each other.

Gud post, 👍🏼

U know sumwhere I feel we are all equally culpable. we are equally reprehensible.........we cant jus put the entire blame on one person......we hav to analyse certain aspects too.....before reaching a conclusion

Well firstly us audience always anticipate to watch geet, We create these high and false hopes internally thinking that with every passing day we wud get an intense and electrofying episode thru maaneet......but dat duz not always hav to be da case as the story can also progress without any romantic sequence.....although I wud hate 2 watch geet without any intense or romantic moments between maaneet....And 2 be honest after watching 2dys episode am sort of in a beffudled and bewildered state myself 😡.............I literally thought geet and maan both did not have that essence that they always attach to their characters thru enacting romantic sequence.........no facial/intense/romantic expression from maan, body language was useless, and as far as geet goes she was just as bad as him.....totally expressionless man.......am totally fuming yaar...........and cumin back 2 da topic..............u see the director cud be blamed too....as he has a brief convo between the lead pair before they begin to enact a certain scene as he explains the requirements needed in a particular scene.....so a fink he must hav told them not to hav a romantic or lovey dovey facial expression...........and the script writers as they must hav written a certain requirement of what sort of emotions shud or shud not be displayed...........hope I haven't rambled on tooo much.......hope it makes sense..........sumtyms I tend to lose the plot of the topic..........😆

I agree,....and this makes total sense. My point in the post was that something was definitely off....and it reflected clearly in the episode!! Thanks for making my point in a better way!!😉
