Continution of Scene on p.15: Part 3
After work, Geet and Pinky are both discussing about Maan's Dadi, and how she has invited Geet over for dinner.
Pinky-"Yaar tu badi lucky hai. Dhak Dhak ki Dadi ne khud tujhe invite kiya hai."
Geet-"Hmmm" and thinks to herself 'Khaak lucky, uss kharoos ko Office mein jhelna toh hota hi hai, ab aaj Friday evening after work bhi ussay bardast karna hoga.' 😆
Soon enough, Geet got dressed in a royal blue salwar kurta with little silver zardozi work.Pinky did her hair (something like this: http://images.huffingtonpost.com/2008-10-03-0braid13.jpg).
As Geet finished getting ready the doorbell rang. Maan had come to pick her up just on time!
As Pinky opened the door, she was mesmerized by Dhak Dhak 😍. Wearing a sheer (slightly see through!!!) light blue short sleeved fitted shirt with dark blue jeans, Maan looked every bit a modern version of a dashing Kunwar.Pinky just stares at him with her jaw open, while Maan with his typical stern look helps himself in the house, and with his piercing eyes looking at Pinky goes-"Geet ready hai?" while thinking to himself 'Yeh auratein kabhi bhi time par taiyaar nahin hoti hain'
Pinky coming back to her senses goes-"DD er I mean boss, haan Geet toh ready ho chuki hai. Main usko laati hoon". Saying this Pinky leaves thinking 'Geet hay, kitni lucky hai tu!'
Soon enough, Geet came and her eyes met those of an impatient Maan. Maan was instantly struck by her beauty, and couldn't help but gaze at her once again. Maan's intense gaze always seem have this magnetic attraction that Geet was never able to resist. Maaneet were again lost looking at each other. Slowly Maan registered where he was, and looked away. It had taken a lot of will power on his part to stop looking at Geet. Geet too looked down. Maan just gestured Geet to follow him, as he needed to compose himself from the range of wild intense passionate emotions he was feeling within himself.
Outside Maan opened the passenger side door of his silver Mecedes to let Geet in. As he was about to close the door, he sees Geet's duppatta trailing out of the car a bit on the ground. Grudgingly he bends down to pick up the duppatta. While bending down, Maan gets a little closer to Geet, and Geet gets a little startled as she catches his masculine body scent. Maan looks at her with his trademark sarcastic kharoos look, and flips the duppatta on her saying-"Kya tumhe apna duppatta bhi sambhala nahin jaata ?" and closes the car door.
During the drive to Khurana House, Maaneet are both quiet, and feel uncomfortable. Finally Maan decides to break the silence as Geet's cold civility is driving him nuts, and he can't take it anymore-"Thank you Geet, Dadi ka aaj khayaal rakhne ke liye"
Geet slightly touched by Maan's appreciation-"Thank you ki koi zaroorat nahin hai Maan. Oh I mean Sir." Hearing her call him 'Sir' was just plain annoying at the current moment. There were times when he did enjoy her addressing him like that especially when he irritated her to the core at work, but then he always disliked it out of office hours.
Maan continued his conversation as they approached a red light. He spoke in a very soft sweet apologetic voice-"Geet tumne sahi kaha tha. Mujhe kuch pata nahin tha, aur maine tumhe kuch kehne ka moka bhi nahin diya. Mujhe bina puri baatein jaane koi bhi conclusion par jump nahin karna chahiye tha. Main maanta hoon mujhse galti huyi hai" [Note: he still hasn't said sorry! It's just against his kharoos ego to say sorry!] As he accepted his mistake he looked at Geet hoping there to be some sign of pardon on her part.
Geet was surprised that the kharoos Maan Singh Khurana, her boss was accepting the fact he was at fault. She wanted to give him a hard time but then she got the flashbacks of the umpteenth times Maan had saved her. It was because of him that she even alive today, and she had never acknowledged that. Geet thought to herself 'Galti toh sabhi se hoti hai, par unhein accept karna bahut mushkil hota hai. Khaas taur par mardon ko, woh bhi Maan jaise akru ko. Phir jab bhi main musibat mein thi, toh hamesha Maan ne hi maddad ki, aur sahi raasta dikhaya'. Geet met Maan's look with a soft approving gaze and a light smile. Maan couldn't resist being bewitched by her. Once again he felt himself lost soul searching in her beautiful deep eyes. Whenever he did this, Geet too would be held captivated by his eyes trying to understand the hidden messages they were trying to convey. However, up to date she was never able to decipher them. They broke out of their trance only after cars started honking at Maan when the lights changed to green.
Maan embarressed quickly looked away from Geet and started to concentrate on driving.Geet figured this is her time to strike back ridiculing Maan thinking of the famous saying '100 sonar ki, ek lohar ki [i.e 100 hits of a goldsmith = 1 hit of a blacksmith]'' says smilingly-"Agli baar lecture sunane se pehle ek baar saari baat jaan lijiyega"
Maan hearing her, gives her a hard glare. He doesn't say anything as they have arrived at his place.
When Geet entered the Khurana House, Dadi welcomed her with open arms. Geet and Dadi instantly started off on their discussions completely forgetting about Maan. Maan smirked at his Dadi and Geet, but deep down he was pleased with what he saw. He really liked the fact that Dadi bonded so well with Geet. Somehow it seemed perfect the way Geet was in Khurana House. It appeared as if it was natural of Geet being there.Then Maan's consciousness once again questioned him 'Kyun itne khush ho Geet ko Dadi ke saath dekhkar? Kyun tumhe achha lagta hai yeh jaankar ki Dadi Geet ko pasand karti hain? Sach ka saamna karo Maan'. Maan is zapped by his own thoughts until Dadi tells him to come for dinner.
At the dinner table Dadi lovingly kept filling Geet's plate despite Geet's numerous protests. Dadi to Geet-"Aur yeh lo Geet, mere haathon ka bana saag". Seeing Dadi so affectionate towards Geet, Maan sarcastically remarked-"Waah, Dadi mujhe kya aaj bhuka hi rakheingi?" Dadi looked at him and gave him tit for tat-"Kyun tujhe jalan ho rahi hai Geet se!" Dadi then looked at her chamcha servant and said-"Chhote sahab ko serve karo".😆
After dinner, Dadi proceeds to tell Geet about the Khurana ancestry; how they were aristocrats in the British Raj, and how slowly they had to adapt with times. Still they stand as one of the well known families in Chandigarh due to their golden zamindaari status. Dadi continues with a chuckle looking at Maan whose sitting a little away *trying* to concentrate on his files-"Puttar rajwada toh chala gaya, par haan raja wali akar abhi bhi hai hamari aaj ki pusht mein"
Maan looks at his Dadi a little annoyed, but he can't say anything to her, and he sees Geet smirk a little. 'She looks so angelic with a smile' and just the next moment 'Arrey Maan, tujhe ho kya gaya aaj kal' Maan shifts back his mind on his work.
As the evening progressed, the weather got bad due rain. When it was time for Geet to go, there were too many thunderstorms. Dadi opposed Geet leaving at such a time.
Dadi-"Dekh Geet puttar. Mausam bahut kharaab hai bahar. Kal toh Saturday hai, aur teri chhutti bhi. Kal hi chali jaana. Apne ghar par phone laga do, main baat kar leti hoon tumhare Chacha ji se. Eise waqt mein yehin par reh lo." After informing Mr. Manchanda, Dadi spoke to Maan-"Maan, dekh mere paas toh kurte hain nahin. Tu hi Geet ko apna koi kurta de de jisme change karke yeh soh sake". Maan is super irritated at Dadi making him do all these things. Already he's in so much confusion, and Dadi's orders cloud his thinking even more.
Maan gestures Geet to follow him. Geet stops at the entrance of his room. She's conscious of the fact that it is a guy's room. She throws a summarizing glance across Maan's room, and realizes that Maan has a liking for modern contemporary furniture, as his room is tasteful decorated in the contemporary style. Maan realizes that Geet isn't behind him. He looks back to see Geet still at the entrance, and gets irked-"Tumhe special invitation chahiye kya?" and thinks to himself-'Hoshiarpur mein bina kisi ko kuch baataye raat ko mere kamre aa gayi thi. Toh issay ab kya hogaya hai!' Geet reluctantly enters the room with Maan's taunt. Maan rampaged through his armoire and took out a plain black Pathani suit, and handed it over to Geet.
As Geet took the clothes from Maan, her fingers touched his hands. Instantly both their gazes met. The simple brushing of their hands sent a shock wave through Maan, while Geet was once again transfixed by Maan's piercing eyes. They simply lost track of time and surrounding and stood looking at each other until Dadi's beloved servant came to take Geet to the guest room.
Durinng the middle of the night, Geet felt thirsty, and decided to get some water from the kitchen. As she entered the kitchen she sees Maan (in a tank top with shorts) there looking miserably at the coffee jar. Maan seeing Geet in the kitchen got surprised and mesmerized seeing the state she came in: her long hair tied in a very loose messy bun, wearing his Pathani suit (which were really baggy on her) with the top two buttons open. To him, she looked like a Greek nymph. He lowered his gaze, and asked her softly-"Tum yahaan?"
Geet replying-"Pyaas lagi thi, isliye paani peene aa gayi thi. Waise aap kya kar rahe hain"
Maan irritated at himself-"Coffee banane ki koshish"
Geet sensing that Maan doesn't know how make coffee-"Kya main bana doon?"
Maan relieved-"Tumhe aata hai?"
Geet taking the match sticks to light the gas stove-"Main bana deti hoon" Maan handed her all the ingredients required:the coffee jar, milk, water and sugar.
As soon as Geet lite the gas stove, electricity went out. As Geet was managing to put the adequate amount of all the ingredients for making coffee in the sauce pan, Maan just kept looking at her with adoration. She looked so divine from the gas stove light that radiated off her face. After putting all the ingredients, Geet was waiting for the mix to boil. Suddenly there was a loud thunder, and Geet being afraid hugged Maan hiding her face in his broad chest.Maan who had all this time been fighting the urge, couldn't hold back and reciprocated by hugging her in return. A warm tight hug which could have easily lasted for eternity it seemed. With another lightning, Geet got conscious and looked up at Maan. Maan viewed her with a sweet soft concerned look full of adoration. Geet was held spellbound in his muscular arms, once again trying to understand unsuccessfully the hidden messaages his eyes were conveying to her. With another thunder, she once again hugged Maan tighter. Maan sensed her fear, and calmed her down -"Darro mat Geet. Main hoon na". Saying this he tightened his embrace. Maan felt estastic being so close to Geet 'Kya main sach mein Geet se 😲❤️'. But before he could finish off his train of thought, he sensed Geet wanting to be released from his arms. He looked at Geet questioningly, and Geet due to her natural shyness with lowered eyes gently whispers-"Coffee taiyaar ho gayi. Main aapko coffee deti hoon". Maan had no choice but to let go of Geet from his arms. As Geet handed him over the coffee cup, he took it from her gently, purposefully touching her hand. Every touch of hers seemed to send a wave of electric shock through him, leaving him with a tingling pleasant sensation that he was previously unaware of.
Having composed himself, Maan took a sip of the coffee, and coming back to his sarcastic self-"Nice coffee Ms. Secretary" As he finished saying this, the electricity came back. Maan took a last look at Geet and headed off to his study trying to unravel the meaning of all the sensations he felt.
Next morning, Maan had no choice but to breakfast with Dadi as Geet was present at his house. As they breakfasted on alu parathas, Dadi asked her chamcha-"Aaj ke parathon ka taste kuch alag hi hai? Eisa kya kiya hai, kaafi achhe bane hain"
As Maan helped himself to another paratha, Dadi's chamchu spoke-"Woh aaj ka nashta Geet ji ne banaya hai"
Maan looked at Geet a little shocked, and unsure of what to do; while Dadi on the other hand pleased looking at a coy Geet-"Hmm, mujhe pehle hi samajh jaana chahiye tha". Dadi thinks to herself 'Kuri ko surat ke saath sirat bhi hai. Acchi baat hai'.
After breakfast, Dadi came to Geet with a packet. Dadi-"Geet puttar, tu pehli baar aayi humare yahaan. Main chahti hoon tu issay pehan le". Saying thi, Dadi took out a beautiful red and green combination zari work anarkali suit for Geet. Geet protested, but in the end had to relent to Dadi's wishes. After Geet came dressed in the suit Dadi had given, Maan who was waiting to drop her off, just stood entralled by Geet. Dadi noticed Maan's facial expressions and thought 'Toh mera shak sahi tha. Issay Geet pasand hai'.
Geet approached Dadi, and took out a little present from her purse giving it to Dadi-"Dadimaa yeh main aapke laayi thi".
Dadi gets surprised by Geet's gesture and goes-"Arrey beta, yeh kya hai?"
Geet-"Please Dadimaa, na mat kijiyega. Bas aapke liye hi khaas taur par liya hai"
Dadi as she opens Geet's present-"Theek hai beta", and sees it's a combination statue of Ganesh ji and Lakshmi ji. Dadi gets very happy with Geet's gesture and hugs her-"Beta phir zaroor aana. Jab bhi mann kare tu chali aana. Theek hai?"
Maan who was happy seeing that Dadi has developed such a strong liking for Geet tries to cover his feeling with his attitude- "Dadi mujhe dair ho rahi hai. Office se ek file leni hai mujhe."
Next scene: Maan accompanies Geet to Amritsar on a business trip.
