And so dawns Week Two, with one very tricky stunt and a mixed bag of performances. Without much ado, here's my round up, in random order...
Stunt Eight
Rio de Janeiro port, and an impressive setup at a fairly high altitude makes for some pretty good entertainment. This was a tricky task, needing balance, strength to manage the ropes, and some serious focus. I thought the first way of deciding the odd-one-out who has to do the second stunt by default, a bit odd. Push ups? Seriously? And to think that Ritwik almost got out because of it. Yikes.
Terrence Lewis...The star of this stunt, hands down. And yes, you could tell how his vocation helped manage things up there. Balance, speed, focus, just about everything till that one final slip. But that's okay, he did really, really well!
Dino Morea...You've got to hand it to him, pitted against a choreographer for whom this might have been another aerial act, he kept his cool, and kept on going. And did so well that he equalled his score too! Awesome, dude! So what if you didn't get the safety band, you earned loads of respect for trying so brilliantly. So there.
Rahul Bose...Focus, a level head, and some more focus, finally got him that band. He did fabulously. And I honestly thought he'd clear even more plates, but oh well. He tried, and he did really well. Nice!
Karan Singh Grover...Did really, really well this time! First one to go, and cleared seven plates like Bose, while Gattu fell off before him. Liked his focus, and steadiness. Good job, dude! Safety Band well deserved.
Rahul Dev, Abhishek Kapoor, Shabbir Ahluwalia...Disappointing. Cleared three plates apiece.
Armaan Ebrahim...Five plates, and a decent attempt. Would have loved to see him do more, but at least he managed the Safety Band.
Stunt Nine
Garbage, mulch, and animal entrails. Quite a combination, that. And if it involves getting right into it all, hook line and sinker, Khatron Ke Khiladi is what you get. Time based stunt, and I think what was tested here was speed and luck in a large measure, depending on where you looked first and how thoroughly. Not really of the same calibre as the preceding second stunts on each day, but an interesting watch nevertheless. There isn't much to say about it either, except that Rahul Dev seemed to be the slowest, albeit owing to a nasty cut to his foot as soon as he entered the dump. But he had to leave. All the rest did well, with Shabbir clocking in the fastest with his partner. Abhishek's partner getting all hyper was very funny, and the spectators had quite a laugh at her expense too. It was fun, though.
Whopper of the Day : Terrence in the first stunt. Agile, controlled, and quick. Awesome!
Shocker of the Day : Shabbir in the first stunt. I really thought he'd do brilliantly. But then, everyone has their off-days. Good luck to him for tomorrow!
Pat on the Back of the Day : Dino, Karan and Bose in the first stunt, and Shabbir in the second. Good stuff, all of you.
The precap's got an even trickier stunt ahead, and I was very happy to see a lot of girls doing the first stunt this time. The second involves what looked like a glass box filled with roaches and tarantulas. And two people who have definitely not cleared the first stunt tomorrow were the two I saw in the precap doing the second stunt : Abhishek and Karan. Who else joined them, is something we'll have to wait and see.
So yeah, that's about it for today. Would love to know what you guys thought too.
