Deewana…Tumhara

Part 1

The ballroom of the J&M Hotel was decorated beautifully and extremely lovingly. It looked perfect for a wedding, and it was. Ask any of the guests, they would surely reply that this is the best and the most important wedding of the year. These guests came to congratulate the lucky parents and the lucky couple. The parents stood with proud stature and gazed happily at their surroundings. The Jenujas and the Maans talked with permanent smiles…for their dream was coming true. Their children, Prem and Heer were going to be bonded in a bond for life in just few minutes.

The two families were very well known all over the world. Both families were known for their hotels and business empires. Balwant Maan and Lalit Jenuja were also known for their friendship, if someone said something about one of them, they would have to answer to the other. Also, one cannot forget their kind and generous nature to others. They both donate loads of money to all types of charities and even hold functions to motivate others to also donate for those less fortunate than them.

When Prem was born to Lalit and his wife, Gayatri, it was Balwant who was passing out sweets to the poor and screaming and jumping around. When two years later Teji, Balwant's wife gave birth to Heer, it was Lalit who was excited the most. That day was the day that sealed Prem and Heer's future together. The two grew up together in the same big house but they never fully spoke to the other. Both were of shy and quiet nature…but their hearts were beating as one. They were in love because though there was no sound heard between them, their eyes did all the talking every day.

Heer knew what Prem needed without him saying a word. She was the one who made tea for him when his mom was not there or simply did not hear him ask. She was the one reminded him to eat when he was at the office and had forgotten his lunch. She went through the hallway that connected her house to his and went to his room to see if he was sleeping soundly. She understood him without him making a sound. Even before marriage she did the job of his wife…and without being asked to. She did everything because it seemed right and after all she would be doing that later on in life so why not start soon. She was the one.

While she knew his every need…he did also.

Prem was the one taking food to her when she was drowning in her studies. He was there to remind her to take a break and to rest. He was the one that knew what she felt…without needing her to tell him. He was the one that understood her every need and want with just a flicker of her eye and smile. He was the one that read her eyes and the one that spoke to her through his eyes. He did the job of a husband, and lover because it felt like a second nature to him, and it was to be his job…very soon.He was the one.

They were made for each other…were soul mates. Anyone could feel the love by just standing in the same room as them. And today they would be married and finally belong to one another, they can do the things they do for the other while saying "I'm your husband/wife".

Teji was talking to Gayatri when she looked at the doorway and smiled when she saw a girl entering. The girl was wearing a blue lengha. The blouse had light designs and showed her stomach off. The ghagra was heavily decorated with designs and embroidery. Her dupatta was placed on her right shoulder, half in the front and half in the back. She had dark black hair up in a complicated hairdo with some strands falling around her face; her bangs were placed on the right side and were caressing her cheek. Her eyes were her most fascinating feature; they were dark blue and were the first thing you notice about her.

She looked around for a minute and seeing Teji waving at her, walked to the two ladies. It seemed like everyone stopped what they were doing and were looking at her as she walked. Standing in front of Teji, the girl took her blessings and greeted her in a soft voice.

Girl- massima, Heer kahan hai?

Teji- beta Heer apne kamre mein hai…aao tum inse milo ye hain Heer ki hone wali saas, meri bahut achi dost, Gayatri. Gayatri ye hai meri behen ki beti, Mani.

The girl turned to Gayatri and took her blessings. With a smile, Gayatri reached forward and hugged her close. Pulling back they both smiled at each other.

Mani turned to Teji and told her she was going to see Heer now.

Te- Mani …tum to aaj perform karne wali hona?

M- haan lekin woh shaadi ke baad mein jab Heer aur Prem unki seats mein honge and everyone will be congratulating them, thats when I'll perform.

Te- ok

Mani smiled one last time at the two ladies and walked up the stairs, unknown to the shock that would meet her soon. Her payals were playing along with her bangles and made a beautiful melody. The hallway to Heer's room was quiet. With every step she took, her payals made a sweet sound. Every time her hand came to push her bangs away, her bangles replied to her payals. She was almost at her destination, when a hand came from a room and pulled her inside. A light yelp left her mouth as she was pulled into the darkness and into someone's arms. Her face was pressed into somebody's chest and her hands came to rest on the person's shoulders as she looked up at the person. The room was dark except for the moonlight peeking through the window. The light fell straight on the person holding Mani, it was a guy. He had messy black hair and dark brown eyes. He had a mischievous smile. When their eyes met, shock flashed across his face and eyes.

His arms loosened around her and she stepped away from him, still staring into his eyes, her eyes full of questions and confusion. The light was turned on but their eye-lock was not halted. Seeing something move from the corner of her eye, she looked away from the guy and looked at the other occupant of the room. There was a guy with longish black hair and black eyes; he was wearing a red sherwani with a gold dupatta. The guy that she fell into was wearing a black sherwani. She looked at them completely confused and recognized the guy in the red as Prem, the dulha. But why was he in here with this guy and why did they pull her in?

Seeing her confusion, Prem smiled with guilt on his face. He looked at his brother, Preet and shook his head. He looked back at her and smiled apologetically. He said, "Sorry" and walked out of the room, leaving her alone with Preet. She watched him walk out, still standing in front of the guy and looked back at him. If someone was to walk in and see them, they would think that the two were a couple because the distance was not that much between them. Their eyes connected once again as the surroundings disappeared.

He stepped towards her, she moved back. This little game continued until her back was pressed against the wall next to the door. He stood in front of her, their bodies lightly brushed against one another as their chests moved up and down. Her mouth was open slightly and she stared up into his dark eyes. He raised his hand, her eyes closed and her eyebrows furrowed together. She heard a click, so opening her eyes she saw him smirking at her as he walked out. Leaning against the wall, she let out a deep sigh and closed her eyes. Few minutes later she walked downstairs, forgetting about meeting Heer completely.

Soon Heer was brought down, dressed in a dark red lengha with heavy embroidery and jewelry, looking gorgeous. Everyone smiled at the shy girl. The pheras were done, along with the other rituals related to marriage. The new couple was sitting on a love seat getting congratulations and compliments. The two sat there smiling and thanking the people. Soon Balraj and Lalit went up to the stage and made announcements.

B- thank you all for coming and joining in on our happiness…

L- we hope you all had fun…

B- and now introducing my lovely niece Mani

They step off the stage and all the lights dim out. A light falls on a figure on the stairs with her back facing the crowd. She speaks on the microphone while descending down the stairs.

Mani- hi everyone…so meri pyari si cousin ki shaadi hogayi hai…thank god ab usko uska pati jalega…

Everyone laughs while Heer scowls at her. Prem takes her hand in his making her blush deeply.

M- okay now all jokes apart, I am really close to Heer, she isn't a cousin to me but instead my older sister…and I want her to know that I love her and want to thank her for always being there for me when I needed someone…so Heer I love you and Thank you!

This time everyone awed and smiled. Heer smiled softly and lovingly at her cousin, fully unaware of Prem who was watching her lovingly and admirably.

M- ok I can see that jiju is totally enthralled by Heer

Everyone looked at Prem and laughed at his guilty expression, as if he had been caught stealing a cookie.

M- aww its ok Jiju no one will say anything if you look at Heer lovingly because guess what…you're married and no one can stop you now from expressing your feelings…so please go ahead and look at Di all you want, she's yours now after all!

Hearing this, the newlywed couple blushed. {They seem to doing that a lot} Everyone smiled at them once again.

M- ah ok now finally I will stop teasing you guys and perform, just like I promised you Mrs. Prem Jenuja…aww look at her red cheeks people, you may take all the pictures you want for you won't see this type of blush on any other girl's face…ok so I lied…Hehe ok now promise I will stop now!

She performed along with some other girls, and left everyone stunned. She was able to sing and dance beautifully, something that is usually not found in some girls. She was also traditional and respectful along with these gifts. It was now time for the bidaai.

First Heer hugged her father tightly. Though she would be living in the same house, since the two houses are connected, it was still a sad moment for Heer and her family. Balraj looked in her eyes and told, "beta ab tu meri nahi rahi…ab se tu Lalit ki beti hai, is rishte ko achi taran se nibana". He kissed her forehead as she nodded while shutting her eyes tightly, letting the tears run down her cheeks.

Next came her mother. Teji looked at her daughter and smiled at the memories that flashed in front of her eyes; from the day Heer was born to today, the day she leaves her house and becomes a woman. They hugged each other, not wanting to let go. This day was going to come; they had been ready for the past 24 years, but actually doing the one thing they had always talked about, was harder than what some would think. "Beta, apna aur apni parivaar ka khayal rakhna, ab woh tera ghar hai, teri duniya hai, tera sab kuch hai". She kissed Heer on her forehead and hugged her once more.

The third and the last person was Mani. The two cousins looked at one another and Mani launched herself in Heer's arms, crying as if she would never see Heer again. They hugged for full five minutes with them both crying in each others shoulders. Mani pulled back and looked at Heer and smiled while still crying. "Look at me, I said that I would be the laughing when you leave and I end up being the one that cries the most". Heer laughed at her pout and kissed her forehead. "Tum sach much main pagal ho Mani". "Uh duh this is me we're talking about". "haha crazy girl". "I want you to meet me tomorrow first thing in the morning" "Why?" Mani leans and whispers in Heer's ear, "So I can get the details on your wedding night, besides your hubby looks fit and hot with the clothes I wonder what he looks like without them, yum so that's why, you are telling me every thing that happens tonight between hubby dearest and you". Heer blushed the darkest red anyone had seen, the way her head was bowed and her lips were in a shy smile made everyone wonder what Mani said to her, especially a certain dulha raja.

Heer gets in the car with Prem and leaves with everyone following. Since the wedding had taken place at their hotel, the Jenujas and the Maans went home together after the couple. Gayatri was already waiting for the new couple at the house to do "ghar parvesh". She did the aarti and the rituals and soon Heer was standing in front of Prem's room about to enter. Everyone else was downstairs having a small party/family get-together. She opened the door and walked inside to be joined in a minute by her husband.

She stood there and looked around the room memorized. His room had been completely transformed and was now decorated with rose petals on the ground and the bed. The bed also had garlands made from different types of flowers hanging on it making a flowered ceiling and a calming essence surrounding the air. She walked in front of the mirror and started to take off her jewelry only to be stalled by Prem. He came up behind her and made her sit on the stool. Standing behind her, he started taking off her jewelry all the while staring into her eyes. Shivers trembled through her body when his hand came in contact with her skin. Soon her earrings and necklaces were off. He crouched next to her and took her arm in his hand and took her bangles off leaving the red ones only. When her arms were bare, he took her hands in his and kissed her palms…staring into her eyes…both their eyes were filled with love and passion. As they move to the bed, the scene goes to the moon that was winking happily at the couple.

____________________________________________________________

Downstairs away from the lovebirds, Lalit, Balwant, Teji, Gayatri, Mani, and Preet were talking and having fun. On Mani's lap was a little girl of about 7 asleep. The girl was Rhea, Mani's sister. Seeing that the adults were engrossed in their conversation, Mani stood up with Rhea in her arms and walked away silently…unaware of the person following her every step with his.

He watched as she carried Rhea without a problem and with so much care and love. She was struggling to open the door so he stepped up and held it open for her. She was startled when he came from no where and opened the door for her, sending him a small smile of gratitude, she walked in. He pulled the covers down for her as she laid Rhea down on the bed and tucked her in. Mani was about to leave when Rhea pulls on her hand, looking back at Rhea Mani smiles and shakes her head. She sits on the bed next to Rhea and leans down. With her finger she pokes Rhea's forehead saying, "In the north". Then poking her chin, "In the south". Then her right cheek, "In the east". Then the left cheek, "In the west". Mani rubs her nose against Rhea's giving her an Eskimo kiss and says, "I love you all over the map". Rhea then falls asleep and Mani gets up to leave.

Turning around she sees him standing at the door with a questioning look. She goes up to him, closes the door and starts walking down the hallway. He walks next to her still confused. She starts explaining to him as he listens patiently.

M- jab main choti thi, meri mom yeh har raat karti thi mere liye, aur jab Rhea was born, my mom died in childbirth…I was 15 at that time, dad was too heart-broken to take care of her so I stepped in…that's something I want Rhea to know and experience cuz it was an loving and caring gesture passed from my mum to me and now from me to rhea. I've done that since day one…no matter when or where I am, I make sure that I do that to her whether she's already asleep or I do that in the morning. So you wanna tell me why you pulled in that room today? And why was Prem there with you?

P- well first let me introduce myself

M- ok

P- hello gorgeous the name is Preet and the aim is to please

He bows to her and kissed her hand while staring into her eyes, giving her a smoky look. She laughed at his introduction.

M- aim to please huh? Well then mr. preet please me by telling me the reason you pulled me in the room

P- woh actually I thought you were heer bhabhi

M- huh? Why would you want to pull heer in?

P- woh prem bhai got a gift for bhabhi but didn't have the guts to give her before so I decided to get them together and give them time to talk and him to give it to her, so when I heard the payals and bangles I thought it was her and that's why I dragged you in.

M- but didn't you think about the fact that it could be someone coming down the hallway to get heer?

P- we did, I had a friend on the look out to tell me if someone is going up the stairs, he didn't call and I thought that it was Heer for sure so that's why…that stupid friend of mine was busy flirting with some girls to notice you come up…at least thank god it was you.

M- why thank god because it was me?

P- because I got to meet a beautiful angel like you

Mani smiled and looked on the ground. Seeing this, Preet smirked and started talking again.

P- I lied…thank god because what if it ended up being some old lady well it couldn't have been worse than you

M- what do you mean it couldn't have been worse????

P- I mean there's nobody more worse than you so

M- you little jerk

He laughed and ran away with Mani chasing him. His laughter and her curses could be heard down the hallway. The scene of Mani hitting Preet and him trying to protect himself fades away.
