' Humsafar'(Short story)Part VI(last prt)

Hi Friends,

So here I am back... Yup with another short story..this story is very close to my heart not for the story itself but the circumsatcnes in which i had to write this one..it was written to cheer up someone very close..😃

This story has its flaws and am postign it with those intact...as i dont want to change the innocence by which i attempted this one. It has a muslim family background...and hope u will forgive the few errors in story telling...

I have written small poetic lines in Hindi in btw..and hope u like that those too...

Let me thank my lovely friends Bini, Sara, San & Tannu for their support , this story is theirs. Its due to them i wrote..special thanks to Sara she had some beuatiful words to tell me abt this story and it lifted my spirit to attempt more such stories.

"Humsafar"

Part I

Its night time a grand party near a huge farm house is held. The entire guests were dancing in a circle around the firewood. There r drinks served & food is delicious. The smell of it is soothing & the music mesmerizing. A pretty girl sitting is watching them. There is smile across everyone's faces. She gets up walks a distant far from there into the farm, comes near a pond. She could hear the music bit low. She watches the fishes in the pond and smiles. Then she thinks about something. She soon look's at the Moon's Shadow in the pond along with is a small bright star. She watches up in the sky & looks at the moon & the star.

She thinks and says, "Rabba every time u give me my answers. I was just thinking about why I am not happy like all the others. I wanted to be alone. I came here saw these fishes, the pure water & this little thing seem to make me smile than the smiling faces of so many people there. How could I be so selfish? Why I wasn't able to be happy just by someone else's happiness? But as I saw the shadow of moon in this pond and a little star I realized, be it big or small u can be really & genuinely happy only when inside u, ur soul is happy. If u within r'nt happy with ur life, only by someone's happiness u cant make urself pleased. I realized Rabba that what we feel within reflects out. The shadow within me reflects out.

Apno Ka saath Kyun Shorsa Mujhe Lagta Hai,

Jhutha Dikhava Insaan Hardam Nahi Karsakta Hai,

Dil mey Basaa Dard Chupaye Nahi Chupta Hai,

Bheeter Ka Khaav Saya Ban Chehre pe ajata Hai.

She was about to touch the shadow of the moon in the pond that she realized her ring slipped into the water. She had an expression of shock on her face n held her hand on her mouth. She rushed to pick the ring from the deep water, she was about to fall into the pond but soon she realized that someone holding her both arms and helping her not to fall. She got her balance & looked behind but there was no one. Then she saw into the pond, now she couldn't see the ring as well. She suddenly got scared & the music near the farmhouse was stopped. She felt scared & rushed back. She heard her Mom calling her, "Noor where r u?" Her mom told her there was a short circuit. Noor said, "Ammi, I lost my ring into the pond."& soon everyone went with a torch to search it. But none could find the ring. She was very upset & very sad. It was her favourite ring, which she treasured from long time.

The party was over & as she was preparing to go to bed she saw her shadow as she was switching the light. She thought, "Rabba r u trying to tell me something? This time I am not able to understand. Who was there who helped me not to fall in the pond? How with a fraction of second I couldn't see the ring which was there in front of my eyes? & How did the ring slipped out of my finger? It wasn't loose; it fitted to my ring finger perfectly. Rabba please bring back that beautiful ring to me, I would feel it's my lucky charm."

Chand Ko Dekh jab Muskura Uthi thi,

Najane kaise ungalise anguthi Chuthi thi,

Rabba Kaun tha jisne thama tha mujhe,

Kwaab tha ya haqueeqat iska ilm karadona mujhe.

Part II

Noor is the only daughter of Jaffer family. Her Abba, Salim Jaffer is the richest business man & also a cabinet minister. Noor has three brothers. She was good in studies, good looking & possessed a great ability to learn things quickly. At age of 21, there were numerous proposals of marriage. Her father was deciding which family would be the best. Noor was very different from other girls. She didn't believe in the friend's, as she knew they were with her only because she was rich & she could help them in each & every way. She was always good to her friends & relatives but she knew inside, there were none among them who loved her truly. She had only one friend that was the almighty God whom she lovingly from childhood called Rabba. She would always sit alone & ask God the answers to her problems. The grand party was held to celebrate her elder Brother Ahmed's nikah with his childhood girlfriend, 'Shama'. Initially her father didn't like the proposal as Shama was more educated than Ahmed. After Ahmed's marriage now her father was in a hurry to get her married. Noor had no goals in life. She just was taking each day as it comes & tried to pursue her hobby of doing embroidery.

It was at the age of 10 when Noor got to know that her Abba had married again. She was upset with her Abba, though her Abba came & explained that he married because her Chotti Ammi had no one who would look after her. At that tender age she just felt like leaving the home. She went outside the house & sat in the garden thinking of hiding among the bushes so that all at Home get worried & throw Chotti Ammi out of the house. As she was talking with her Rabba, & asking questions she saw a cuckoo making a nest for its young ones. She saw the cuckoo feeding its young ones by its beak & the young ones crying bitterly when the cuckoo would go.

This made her think that her Abba & Ammi have given her life, have done so much for her so that now she is able to run, go anywhere, she had got the wings. But just because now she has the wings, should she leave them? & not be there for the numerable things they have given her in these long years? She came back to the house & her Abba & Ammi were so very happy. Her Chotti Ammi kissed her & said, "Mujhse naaraz ho, magar mera gunaah to yehi hai na main tum sab ke sath yehan rehna chahti hun." She had felt strange hearing it & had forgiven her within few weeks of seeing her love n care for her. Then her two younger brothers were born, Chotti Ammi had then never behaved with the same affection she had before. Even her Ammi wasn't bothered to see her little daughter all alone now. She always felt neglected with the freedom her brothers got, her elder brother & her two stepbrothers.

Abba se main khafa thi lekin naraaz nahi ho payi,

Apne dil ki kashmakash ko batla nahi payi,

Sawalon ne rishton ki uljhan ko nahi suljhaya,

Waqt ne bas uspar dheere dheere marham lagaya.

One day as Noor was going to the Dargah in the car. Another car dashed from side. In a fit of anger the driver started yelling at the other person as there wasn't U turn to be taken at that junction. Noor was sitting inside. She saw the man coming out of the car & slapping her driver. The driver went ahead to object. Then she saw the Man throwing money at her driver's face & speedily just sat inside the car n drove away. The driver came in Noor asked him what happened. The driver told her, "Gadi ki kya halat kardi. Hum garib hai magar izzat hamarey pass bhi hai. Aapne dekha kaise mujhe marr ke bhaga aur paise feinka Main to ussey chodta nahi agar woh gadi mey bhagata nahi." Noor knew the man had made a mistake by taking a wrong u turn.

After few days she was at the Daragh again, She saw the same man there. She felt inside, "Ab Allah se mafi mangne aya hai?" She clad in a burkha went inside & prayed the Namaz. She was walking out of the Dargah she saw him still sitting outside. She thought to herself, "Ab allah ke dargah pe ake bhi sukun nahi hai Insaan ko." She realized this Man must have come here just to spend time with his friends. The driver came & they were driving back. Then she saw the same Man speedily driving & all the people nearby quickly made way or else someone or the other would have been injured. Noor prayed to God & said,"Rabba, isko sudharo warna kisina kisiki jaan leke hi jayega."

Paiso ki akad pe yeh log kaisa khel khel rahe hain,

Khudko Uncha samjhte log kitne niche gir rahe hain,

Apni magruri pe yeh kaisa gumaan hai,

Inn ke liye germamuli mano dusre ki jaan hai.

Noor was in conversation with her Ammi, her Abba came with his friend. She greeted the uncle as her father was introducing everyone. She realized her Abba had thought about getting her married to his Son. Soon she heard someone's footsteps, She saw behind & the Man who she saw slapping his driver & near that Daragh was entering. The Uncle said, "Noor ,yeh lo hamara beta agaya. Issi ke baaremey hum bata rahe the. Noor was angry & she looked up & said, "Rabba koi aur banda nahi mila? Maine ussey Sudharne ke liye kaha iska matlab yeh nahi ki tum mujhse yeh kaam karvao. Mujhe apney shehjade se Milker Apni yeh bemani zindagi ko bhi behtar banana hai." She was not interested to hear now anything about him. Noor was getting frustrated, how her Abba can just randomly one day decide that this is the man she has to marry & bring guest without even asking her wish. She was just waiting that let the guest go. The Boy's family was in the carpet business which was flourishing. Noor tried to stay away from them & didn't listen to the continuous buttering about the Boy & his family.

After the guest left, Noor protested to her Abba, that she can't marry this guy. She has seen his behavior on road & she doesn't think he is fit for her. Her Abba wasn't interested to hear anything. He seemed relaxed that after much search he found this family, its rich, wealthy & r respected all over. He is educated & if in young age he just shows off his attitude as he is rich, what's the big deal. This is petty enough to refuse the proposal. After continues battle with her family for a couple of weeks, Finally Noor's say was accepted. The Jaffer family rejected the proposal. Very eagerly they searched for some other proposal.
