Part 4:-
As if hypnotized everyone at the same instant turned towards the source of the sound. There she stood with the most splendid entry, Rajveer thought leaving out his breath in a whoosh. 'As usual', he thought. Clad in a grayish-black skirt with a fresh â crisp white shirt and adorning a lacy tie, she seemed to overlook the entire convocation. Her hair tied up in a tight bun only enhanced her professional manifestation. As she walked up, her footsteps seemed to echo. One thing which threw Rajveer off guard was the stud in her nose. It brought out the chic - in vogue look which made her look that she meant business.
Naina knew that she was late as she clucked down the aisle. But ⌠She disciplined her mind to focus. After a respectful bow, elicited permission to begin, she began-"I apologize your honor, for the disrespectful delay that I have caused. But I had a more pressing matter in my hand to deal with. I would like to inform that I would be assisting and defending Mr. Shekhawat in this case. I wouldn't mind if Captain Salve would like to begin the hearing." Having completed she handed over the file which enclosed all the necessary documents of the rights of her dealing the case and took her place next to Captain Salve.
Raj was hurt when he heard her say that she had more vital stuff to do. His situation was so critical and there she was late. How worried they had been and here she was not even looking at him. But his heart uplifted at the thought that she was going to defend him. But one thought kept nagging him â she was his best cadet, no doubt about that but was she capable enough to carry the entire case.
Captain Salve stood up. She was an attacker and had decided upon attacking the weak points of the opposition. This had led to success the previous time and would once again.
With a sadistic look at Naina, she began â "Sir, The accused i.e. Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat oops, I apologize, the ex- Captain Shekhawat," she paused. Naina threw her a sharp glance and closed her eyes momentarily at this menial remark but maintained her composure. Rajveer felt a sword pierce through his heart as he recalled the painful instances of his life when Brigadier Chandok had snatched away all his credentials and medals and the court had denounced him from being a Captain in the Indian Army. His face twisted in agony at the thought.
Seeing the fruit of her expression, Captain Salve hid her smug smile. The male pride had been hurt. Phase 1 had been completed. Now to further degrade him was all she had in mind. But little did she know the defence had an explosive weapon this time and weapon was powerful. It would be moment's time before she'd realize what had hit her.
