As Prithvi drove back from Kartik's place, Kripa's words kept echoing in his mind, "mainey kabhi tumsey pyaar nahin kiya……hamesha angad se hi kiya hai…….Angad ney tumharey liye apna pyaar sacrifice…….."
Kartik's words were also fresh in his mind, "Kripa…..Prithvi ko bevkoof mat banao…..Prithvi bahut bhola hai….." Prithvi stepped on his brakes and came to a halt, "Kya karoon main…..kaun sach bol raha hai…aur kaun jhooth? Kripa ney mujhsey shaadi kyon ki? Wo jhooth bol rahi hai…..Angad ney usey behkaa diya hai….Kartik sach bol raha hai…..Angad deserves what he got…..wo mera bhai nahin hai…..," he started the car again.
Prithvi arrived home and saw Dilip, Suryabhan and Kripa huddled around a table, discussing something.
Prithvi ignored them and started climbing the stairs, when he was stopped by Dilip, "PRITHVI! I need you downstairs"
Prithvi looked back, "Papa….main thak raha hoon…..I need to go to bed.."
"Prithvi, yeh waqt soney ka nahin hai….neeche aao"
Prithvi complied, but looked disgustingly at Kripa and Suryabhan, "papa….main aap logon ki madat nahin kar sakta…Angad ko apney kiye ki saza mil rahi hai.."
"Kaisi saza Prithvi?" Dilip asked
"Aap Kripa sey poonch lee jiye…."
"Prithvi…..Angad aur Kripa ka jo bhi rishta hai, uska Angad ke case sey koyi relation nahin hai……batao Kartik ney aisa kya kiya, jo Angad par itna badha ilzaam laga diya?"
"Main kuch nahin jaanta Papa…..please leave me alone…." Prithvi turned around and ran to his room.
Dilip shook his head, "Angad pehley hi kehta tha ki Kartik theek aadmi nahin hai…pata nahin mainey kyon Prithvi ko roka nahin,"
Dilip looked up a number and dialed someone, "Hello Shabbir beta? Haan main Dilip Bose bol raha hoon…."
NEXT DAY: Dilip, Suryabhan and Kripa met with Shabbir Kumar, one of the leading lawyers in the city. Shabbir had tremendous respect for Dilip, as he had judged many cases that were handled by him. Dilip had seen Shabbir's skill in the court room-he knew Shabbir was an honest person, and would go out of his way to fight for justice.
Shabbir was given all the details about the case.
After the meeting finished, Shabbir shook hands with everyone, and then went up to Kripa, "Kripa….don't worry…Angad mera bahut accha dost hai….he had confided to me a long time ago about you…in fact London se aaney ke baad he told me about you but also took a promise from me to never reveal his secret…..I am glad you both are together now…..he really loves you….."
Kripa's eyes were moist, "Thanks Shabbir……Angad is very lucky to have a friend like you…."
"Wrong…..I am your friend also….," he extended his hand in a friendly gesture. Kripa willingly placed her hand in his, "thanks again…."
Shabbir met with Angad after reviewing the details of the case, "yaar….tujhey buri tarah phansaaya hai Kartik ney……why did you keep signing on all those documents when you were suspicious of Kartik?"
Angad just lowered his head, "kya bataaun…shayad Prithvi ko khush dekhna chahta tha…..socha wo pehli baar zindagi mein kuch ban na chahta hai…..tho main uski itni bhi help nahin kar sakta? I had no idea, Prithvi would let Kartik play such a dirty game with me"
"Tu jaanta hai yeh sab kyon kar rahey hain wo?"
"Nahin…"
"Well….Kripa told me that Prithvi was quite upset about her pregnancy….I think that is what has triggered this act of vengeance"
"OH God…I hope wo log Kripa ko pareshaan na karein…" Angad buried his face in his hands.
"Kripa itni kamzor nahin hai….she is a tough lady…." Shabbir smiled at him
"Haan…phir bhi..iss halat mein, kaun uska dhyaan rakhega?"
"Hum sab hain….tu chinta mat kar…" Shabbir picked his files and took leave, "I have a lot of work to do….see you later.."
Kripa came to meet Angad everyday, even if it was for a short time. She tried to not talk about the case or about Prithvi and Kartik. Those moments were special for them, and they just sat together arm in arm lost in each other's world. They both knew that the strength they got by being with each other, helped them face the rest of the day without much pain. The jailor had allowed Kripa to secretly bring a special dish for Angad everyday. He had realized how much in love Angad and Kripa were; he even granted them extra time on occasions.
The court hearings also started, but unfortunately Kartik had dug such a deep hole for Angad, all the evidence went against him. Kripa sensed that the otherwise Mr Cool Shabbir, was also giving up hope. Prithvi and Kartik refused to cooperate with Shabbir and in fact testified against Angad in court.
Angad was really hurt to see Prithvi speak against him, "Yes….my lord..Angad Khanna borrowed a lot of money from various investors, and as far as I know, he used it for personal use….he has always been a womanizer and is known to spend a lot of money on them…..main usey bachpan sey jaanta hoon…..as far as the drug charges are concerned, I am not sure…but I remember in Mt Abu when my wife and I had gone for my honeymoon, and Angad had insisted on coming with us, there was some kind of drug raid in the hotel at that time….and yes, he also had illegitimate relations with my wife….."
Angad cringed at the last allegation….he looked at Dilip and Surybhan, as if asking for forgiveness.
Kripa turned red at that allegation. She remembered how Prithvi had insisted on Angad accompany them to Mt Abu, and the drug raid was related to Mishti…Mishti?….she remembered seeing her with Kartik a few weeks ago……she got up and left the court hearing. She rushed to the house and went to Angad's file cabinet.
She searched all his old bills. Fortunately, he had them organized well…she finally found his cell phone bills from the last 1 year. She went over the statements, and finally found the number she was looking for…..
"Hello…Mishti?"
NEXT DAY: Kripa was able to set up a meeting with Mishti at a coffee shop
"Mishti…mujhey tumhari help chahiye…"
"Kyon….kya milta mujhey teri help karke?"
"tumhey jo chahiye…jitna chahiye…wo milega…."
Unfortunately, Kartik had cast his spell on Mishti also. He had promised her that he would marry her, and they would soon leave the country. Mishti refused to help Kripa, "main kuch nahin jaanti……haan Angad ke saath main kaam karti….abhi bhi milta wo mujhey kam se kam hafta mein 2 baar….bahut paise deta…."
Kripa knew Mishti was lying….her Angad could never stoop that low…..she trusted him more than she trusted anyone else in this world…..getting Mishti involved could make Angad's case worse, she thought.
Kripa just walked away saying, "Mishti….mujhey aasha hai ki Kartik sach much tumsey shaadi kar ley, kyonki tum jaise log ek saath hi belong kartey ho…..good luck….main Angad ko bekasoor saabit karkey hi chhodungi….chahey tum kitni bhi koshish kar lo!"
Kripa went to update Shabbir about Mishti. She found Shabbir was sitting with his hands on his head, "aao Kripa…..bahut problem ho gayi…"
"Kya hua Shabbir?"
"Angad ney saarey charges accept kar liye hain…"
"What? Kya keh rahey ho tum? How is that possible?" Kripa shook Shabbir
"Aaj hi pata chala ki Bose&Khanna ke bank account mein bilkul cash khatam ho gaya hai….Kartik bhi available nahin hai…..saarey papers par Angad aur Prithvi key hi signatures the…..Prithvi would have been arrested too, par Prithvi ko bachaaney ke liye..Angad ney saare charges apne oopar le liye….ab main kuch nahin kar sakta…."
Kripa could not believe here ears. She left Shabbir's office and went to the P.S.
After a lot of pleading, she was allowed to see Angad for a few minutes. The police were in the process of transferring him to another site, as he had been proven guilty by accepting all the charges.
Kripa entered the cell to meet, but today instead of love and tenderness in her eyes, Angad saw anger and pain in them.
"How could you do this to me Angad? Kya tumharey liye Prithvi hi sab kuch hai? Main kuch nahin? Pehley tumney mujhey karz ke roop mein usey shaadi mein tohfe ki tarah de diya…aur ab mujhey yeh saza de rahey ho….kiske liye? ……uss bhai ke liye, jisney tumhare pyaar aur sacrifice ki kuch kadar nahin ki…..jisney mujh par haath uthaaya…..tumhey is ilzaam mein phansaaya…uske liye?" Kripa could not control her tears….she was really angry and hurt….
"Kripa…please understand…..yadi Prithvi bhi arrest ho jaata hai tho chachaji aur tumharey paas koyi nahin rehta…..tumhey is waqt saharey ki zaroorat hai…"
"You are wrong Angad! Mujhey saharey ki nahin balki ek saathi ki zaroorat hai…..
meri hi galti thi ki maine ek insaan se nahin balki ek devtaa se pyaar kar baithi……nahin chahiye mujhey devtaa ka saath….mujhey ek pati chahiye jo apney pyaar ke liye poori duniya sey ladh sakta hai….good bye Angad…..jab tumhey yaad aa jaye ki tum bhi ek insaan ho…kisi ke pati ya pita ho, tab mujhey yaad kar lena…..I am very capable of taking care of myself…I don't need you, Prithvi..or anyone else…." She turned around and started to leave.
Angad grabbed her wrist from behind, "Please Kripa…aisa mat kaho….tum jaanti ho ek bachche ke liye dono maa aur baap ka sahara kitna zaroori hota hai…."
Kripa wiggled out of his grip, "
sirf iss liye ki mere bachche ko baap ka sahara milna chahiye….main kisi bhi sadak chalney waaley ko apnaa nahin sakti….aur Prithvi ko…kabhi nahin!" she ran out wiping her tears.
Angad was heartbroken, he banged his head against the wall of the cell, 'Kripa…tum hi batao main kya karoon? Oh God…please show me the right way…"
