Part Twenty Two - The Original Version

Kavya: ANJALI!!!

Kavya tried to shake her, do whatever it would take to wake her up. But she didn't move. So he picked her up in his arms and rushed outside. He put her in the car and drove as fast as he could to the hospital.

Meanwhile back at Kashish's house. Prerna walked in through the front door and saw Kashish waiting for her at the top of the stairs. So Prerna slowly made her way over to her. She didn't know what to say to her.

Prerna: Kashish…

Kashish: Stop right there!...Don't you come anywhere near me…You also cheated me!!!

Prerna: Kashish?...I…I…

Kashish: No!...I know everything…I know you like to joke around…but what you and Sujal did to me…wasn't a joke…it was betrayal…Sujal lied to me…and you…despite being my best friend…even you lied to me…why…what did I ever do to you…

Prerna: I never betrayed you…Sujal…

Kashish: You know what…just save it…whatever you've got to say to me…it doesn't matter anymore…It's better to have friends who I can trust…

What Kashish had said, really hurt Prerna soooo much, that she felt like as if she was going to lose a big part of her life. She had already lost her parents and now she was going to lose her best friend.

Prerna: You don't mean that…Kashish…

Kashish: No I do mean it…I thought I could trust you and you just sat back and watched me fall for all of Sujal's lies, despite the fact that you knew his name wasn't Kavya it was Sujal…I mean how low could he go…he even got his staff and that sister of his…Sneha..to lie on his behalf.

Prerna tried to make Kashish realise that she wasn't thinking properly at the time, she was making the wrong decision.

Kashish: I think it will be for the best if I just leave this place…I can't trust anyone anymore…especially you…

Prerna just stood there listening to all the accusations being thrown at her. She just stood there letting Kashish take out all her emotions on her, because she knew that Kashish needed a friend with her at this time. Her eyes were also full of tears, as well as Kashish's.

Prerna: You can't leave…

Kashish: What's keeping me here…Nothing…

Prerna: I betrayed you…I will leave this place…Not you…This is your house…I…

This time what Prerna said, shocked Kashish.

Prerna: I will leave…I'm leaving…I can't stay here, knowing the fact that I hurt the person, who is the closest thing that I have in my life…to a family.

Kashish didn't reply back, she just turned away. She didn't want to look at Prerna's face. Prerna got up and was about to walk into her room, to pack her bags, but then she stopped and turned towards Kashish.

Prerna: You know…I never intended on hurting you and neither did Sujal…He truly loves you more than anything…

Kashish: I don't want to hear it…anyway what are you still doing here? I thought you were leaving…

This time Prerna wasn't sad, she was angry at Kashish.

Prerna: Oh I will leave…but before I do…I want to say something to you…

Kashish: Well hurry it up

Prerna: Ever since I have known you…you have always been this stubborn brat…who always shoots her mouth off first and asks questions later…I know you too well…after that first incident with Sujal, the job interview at Garewal Industries, was your last hope of getting a job…let me ask you something and answer it truthfully…

Kashish didn't reply back, but this didn't matter to Prerna, as she knew that Kashish was listening.

Prerna: Would you have gone through with the interview, if you would have known, that your future boss, was the guy you argued with in public.

Prerna wasn't going to let this go so easily.

Prerna: So tell me…Miss Kashish Sinha…tell me why didn't you…

Kashish turned and looked angrily at Prerna.

Kashish: I don't have to answer your questions…who do you think you are?

Prerna: I'm your friend…I always was and I always will be

Kashish didn't say anything, as part of her wanted Prerna to stay and the other didn't. She was soooo confused.

Prerna: You tell me one thing…did you fall in love with the name or the actual person?

Kashish: Meaning?

Prerna: Meaning you fell in love with Sujal not the name Kavya…whether his name is Sujal or Kavya, you were in love with him…fair enough he lied to you...but he did it because he fell in love with you and was worried about losing you…he knew you would walk away from the interview, if you realised that he was the one you argued with earlier.

Prerna knew that Kashish was listening to every word she was saying now.

Prerna: That's why his younger brother Kavya posed as Sujal, to prevent you from feeling embarrassed and awkward…I know maybe to some extent it was wrong…but you think you got this job as some sort of charity or pity…but you're wrong…you got this job on your own merit…Sujal just didn't want you to feel embarrassed knowing that he was your boss…believe me he loves you truly…please Kashish don't let something like this come between you're happiness…I know…I know how much you loved Sujal and you still do…You even know that he didn't cheat you or Anjali…so why are you doing this to him and yourself…

Kashish just sat there thinking to herself. Deep down she knew that what Prerna was saying was right. How could she let something like this come between them? It wasn't like as if he actually did cheat her, with Anjali.

Prerna: I have known you for like most of my life…for the first time true love has come into your life…for the first time I have seen you this happy…please don't let him go, especially for something so small…if Sujal wanted to he could have taken advantage of you…but he didn't, because he cared about you…look the decision is now down to you…believe me he is the one.

Prerna put her hand on Kashish's shoulder, only this time Kashish didn't say anything, she didn't even remove Prerna's hand.

Prerna: As far as we are concerned…if you ever need me…then let me know…I will always be there for you…no matter what…but please don't let Sujal go from your life.

Without saying anything else, Prerna got up and went into her room. She then packed her bags with her clothes and a few other things. She even took a picture of them two together. She cried as she looked at the picture and put it into her bag. Memories were floating around in her head, from the time they moved in for the first time, to the time they had that pillow fight. She gave the room a final look, wiped her tears away and then picked up her bags and walked out of the room. As she approached the stairs she saw that Kashish was still sitting there. She wanted to go up to her and see her one last time, but she stopped herself and just walked past her. But as she did, Kashish grabbed her hand.

Kashish: Where do you think you're going?

Prerna turned around and saw Kashish with tears in her eyes.

Prerna: I'm leaving…it's for the best…I…

Kashish: What I…You're not going anywhere…You're not leaving me

Prerna: But…I…We…

Kashish: You took my words to heart…whatever I said, it was in anger…you could have…I don't care…you're staying here and that's that

Prerna tried to smile back at Kashish.

Kashish: Although we're the same age, don't forget…I'm a few months older than you

Kashish playfully slapped Prerna.

Kashish: You were going to leave your family so easily…you were going to leave your sister like this…you silly girl.

Both tried to smile at each other, but they ended up crying, as they fell into each others arms and cried their hearts out.

After a few minutes, Kashish pulled herself away from Prerna.

Kashish: Now go inside and unpack your bags…I'll be right back.

Kashish wiped Prerna's tears away.

Prerna: Where are you going?

Kashish: Where do you think I'm going?...I have to go and find that idiot

Both laughed briefly.

Kashish: Now you go inside and unpack your bags…and you can pick them up as well…as seen as you're the one who packed them in the first place.

Prerna: Oh thanks a lot…it was you…who…

Kashish: Oh don't start this now…come on now I have to go…

Prerna: Oh…oh…oh…already I see…

Kashish: Hey enough of that…

Kashish ran down the stairs.

Kashish: I have to go!!!

Prerna just couldn't stop laughing, after watching Kashish run down the stairs and out of the house, like a love struck teenager. She felt this strange sensation of happiness within her. It felt like as if everything from now on was going to be great. Her friend was going to get her true love back, and she still had her friend and friendship with her.

For a few minutes she sat down on top of the stairs and just smiled at the thought. But then out of the blue her phone started to ring. So she answered it.

Prerna: Hello?

Nurse: Ma'am there's an emergency case…we…

Prerna: Okay…I'm on my way…

Prerna disconnected the call

Prerna: No piece for the wicked…which I am of course…

Meanwhile, with the help of Neha, Kashish looked all over the city for Sujal. She was beginning to get really worried about Sujal, she sooooooo wanted to see him and tell him how much she loves him.

Eventually the daylight began to get dim and the sky was gradually beginning to darken, and yet still Kashish was looking for Sujal, she wasn't going to give him up, not now. But then the phone started ringing. Instantly Neha answered it.

Neha: Hello?

Person: It's me…I've found out…

Neha: That's great news…okay tell me…

Kashish watched Neha write something down on a piece of paper

Kashish: Neha…who was it?...did you find out…

Neha disconnected the call.

Neha: Yes…here…

Neha passed her the paper with Sujal's location.

Kashish just couldn't contain her delight, at finally finding out where Sujal was.

Kashish: Neha…thank you soooo much…

Neha: Hey…I'm just happy that the truth is finally out.

Kashish: Thanks

Neha drove to a hill top area. It was a secluded area, nothing but open air. Both got out of the car and looked for Sujal.

Eventually they found him, lying on top of the car bonnet, looking up at the dark sky. Kashish just stared at him from a distance. Neha put her hand on Kashish's shoulder and whispered to her.

Neha: Just go to him…and good luck…

Neha was about to walk away.

Kashish: Where are you going?

Neha: I've got nothing to do now…you wanted Sujal…well there he is…now go to him…I will see you tomorrow.

Kashish smiled back at Neha.

Kashish: Thanks…

Neha: No thanks…we're friends right?

Kashish: Right…See you tomorrow

Kashish watched Neha walk towards her car and then drive away. She then turned around towards Sujal and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath and walked towards him.

Kashish: Excuse me…can you help me?

Sujal looked up and was surprised to see Kashish standing in front of him. But he didn't say anything, instead he looked away.

Kashish: I'm looking for someone…I was wondering if you could tell me…

Sujal: I'm new to this area…maybe I can't help you…

Kashish: Maybe you can…our first meeting began with an argument, because he ruined my dress, just as I was on my way to an interview.

Sujal: It doesn't give much of an idea

Kashish walked closer towards Sujal.

Kashish: He got his younger brother to pose as himself, so I wouldn't get embarrassed…he was worried that I would leave and he'd never see me again.

Sujal: Still no idea…

Kashish was beginning to get annoyed now, as now Sujal was playing around with her.

Kashish: Gradually I started falling in love with that idiot…I don't know what I ever saw in him…something about him, just attracted me.

Sujal: He kind of sounds familiar

Kashish: I don't know why I did it, but I threw him out of my life, like as if he meant nothing to me…and yet he never intentionally wanted to hurt me…and now I've realised my mistake…I really need to see him…

Sujal: I think I know him, but I can't say with complete certainty.

Kashish gradually made her way over to him, and then sat down next to him. She smiled at him, as he looked away.

Kashish: That's strange…you made the mistake and here I am apologising to you…

Sujal kind of smiled, while he looked away, as he knew that Kashish had forgiven him.

Sujal: Well it depends on who you're looking for?...You didn't tell me his name

Kashish: The idiot's name is Sujal

Sujal: I'm sorry but I don't know an idiot by that name.

Kashish: Oh well I guess I must have come to the wrong place…because I am sure that he is an idiot…and…

Kashish stopped, as Sujal put his hand on hers and smiled at her. Kashish started to blush a little.

Sujal: And…what?...he's good looking, smart and loves you a lot…

Kashish: You're half right…he loves me a lot…that's all.

Sujal: Oh really.

He put his arms around her and held her close to him, as he didn't want to lose her again.

Sujal: What about now?

Kashish tried to get loose, but it was of no use.

Kashish: Sujal…what are you doing?

Sujal whispered in her ear.

Sujal: You know I consider myself as the luckiest man alive…and it's all because of you…you are my life…without you I'm…

Kashish turned and looked at Sujal and she could see the warmth and love in his eyes, which she had yearned for all her life. Both slowly moved closer to each other, as they were about to kiss. But then Sujal's phone started to ring. He looked at it, and it had Kavya's name flashing on the screen. He was about to switch his phone off, when Kashish stopped him.

Kashish: Who is it?

Sujal: Kavya…He can wait…I'll…

Kashish: No wait…He's probably calling you to tell you about the misunderstanding Anjali has.

Sujal: Oh…I forgot about him…

Sujal answered the phone.

Sujal: Hey Kavya…what's…

Kavya: Bhaiya…Anjali…

Kavya sounded soooo depressed and helpless. Sujal had never heard him sound like this.

Sujal: Kavya…Kavya…what's happened?

Kavya told Sujal everything that had happened.

Sujal was shocked after hearing everything.

Sujal: Okay look Kavya…don't worry…Anjali will be fine…I'm on my way…okay…I'm on my way…

Sujal disconnected the phone.

Kashish: What's happened?...Has Anjali left Kavya or something?

Kashish smiled, but then she stopped, when she saw the seriousness on Sujal's face.

Kashish: Sujal…What's wrong?...What's happened?...Is everything okay?

Sujal: No…Anjali…Anjali…

Kashish: What's happened to Anjali?...What's happened…

Sujal put his arms around Kashish to keep her calm.

Sujal: Kashish…Anjali has taken poison…she's in the hospital…

Kashish: WHAT!!!!

Kashish just stood there staring at Sujal. She didn't know how to feel. Her best friend had just tried to take her life and she was now in the hospital fighting to live.

Sujal dropped down onto the ground.

Sujal: It's all my fault…if I hadn't have made Kavya…

Kashish dropped down next to him.

Kashish: It's not your fault…none of this is your fault…if anyone is to blame…it's fate…

Sujal started to feel really guilty, he couldn't even look at Kashish.

Sujal: Kashish…I don't even deserve you…this has all happened because of…

Kashish stopped him from saying anything else.

Kashish: Sujal…stop…stop blaming yourself…Kavya needs you right now and so do I…please…if you break down like this, then what will happen to the rest of us.

Kashish got Sujal up on to his feet.

Kashish: Now stop feeling guilty…I know you're stronger than this…because I fell in love with you…I should know…now come on

Both Sujal and Kashish slowly made their way towards the car and drove to the hospital as quickly as they could.

As soon as they got there, they ran as fast as they could through the corridor. They then stopped as soon as they saw Kavya waiting outside a room.

Sujal: Kavya…

Kavya turned and saw Sujal standing, not too far away from him.

Kavya: Bhaiya…

Kavya quickly made his way over to Sujal and hugged him. Sujal had never seen Kavya look so helpless and sad.

Kavya: Bhaiya…I can't understand why did Anjali do this…she accused me of cheating her…I never did anything as such…I swear, if anything happens to her…I…

Sujal: Nothing will happen to her…you hear me…nothing will happen to her…you just wait and see…

Just then Sujal and Kavya heard the door open behind them and out came Prerna with another doctor. Prerna didn't say anything, she just stood there, beside him.

Sujal and Kavya turned towards Prerna.

Kavya: Prerna…how's Anjali? Is she okay?

Prerna: Er…we've managed to get the poison out of her, but she's still unconscious…

Kavya: But she's going to be alright…right?

Doctor: We can't say anything, till she regains consciousness…the next 24 hours will be crucial for her…if she doesn't regain consciousness…she…

Kavya: Nothing will happen to her…nothing will happen to my Anjali

Prerna put her hand on Kavya's shoulder.

Prerna: Let's just hope for the best…I know Anjali…will make it through…because she's tough…

Kavya: Can…Can…I see her?

Prerna looked at her colleague. He nodded. Kavya walked in to the room, and saw Anjali just lying there on the bed, with her eyes closed. He just slowly walked over to her bedside and sat down, he then gently held her hand, as he just stared at her.

Kavya: Why…why…did you do this?

Kashish looked at Sujal and he did the same and looked back at her. Kashish nodded at him, telling him, that he should tell Kavya everything. So Sujal slowly made his way over to Kavya. He put his hand on Kavya's shoulder. Kavya looked up at Sujal.

Kavya: Bhaiya…look at her…she…she didn't even care about how I wouldn't be able to live without her…why…what did I do wrong…?

Sujal: Kavya…I…I…know why she did this…

Kavya looked at Sujal. He was surprised to find out, that Sujal knew why Anjali took this step.

Kavya: You…you know…tell me bhaiya…why did she do this?

So Sujal told Kavya about everything, that had happened.

Kavya was beside himself, he couldn't believe what Sujal had told him. He just sat there, full of guilt as he stared at Anjali.

Kavya: It's all my fault…if I hadn't had…I should have told her straight away…She's in this condition, only because of me…no wonder she hated me…she…

Kashish: She doesn't hate you…Kavya…this whole thing isn't your fault…stop blaming yourself…this was all just one big misunderstanding…

Kavya: Yeah a misunderstanding, which has put her life in danger…I think I should just leave her life for good…it's the only way she'll ever be happy…

Kashish: Kavya, don't be stupid…you never cheated her…so why are you going to leave her…she's going to need you more than ever when she wakes up…she's the one you loved soooo much…I could see how much she loved you, it was clearly visible in her eyes, when she thought you cheated her…

Kavya: Well how will she believe me…I mean we only just got back together…

Kashish: I'm here…she'll believe me…I will tell her…

She looked at Sujal.

Kashish: We'll all tell her…believe me…she will love you more than ever.

Kavya looked on. The only thing going through his mind, was seeing Anjali open her eyes.

In a few moments, night had turned into morning. Kavya hadn't slept all night. He just sat there staring at Anjali. Sujal had fallen asleep on a chair and Kashish on another chair. For a few seconds Kavya closed his eyes and hoped that Anjali would wake up. Then all of a sudden, he heard Anjali groan and mumble something, he couldn't quite make out, but that didn't matter to him, as he could see Anjali opening her eyes.

Kavya: Anjali

Anjali slowly turned and saw Kavya. She instantly removed her hand from his.

Anjali: Why did you save me?...I wanted to die and you wouldn't even let me do that…

Kavya: Don't be silly…look let me explain everything…it's not what you think…

But Anjali didn't want to hear anything, that Kavya had to say.

Anjali: Just get out…leave…leave me alone…I don't want to see you again….leave!!!!!!!

Anjali started to feel dizzy again. Kavya reached for a glass of water.

Anjali: Here take this…

But Anjali grabbed the glass and threw it on the floor.

The smash, woke Sujal and Kashish up.

Kavya: At least listen…

Anjali: Just leave…I can't believe I fell for a cheat and a liar like you…

Kavya got up and tried to walk out, but Sujal stopped him.

Kashish: Anjali…What are you doing?...At least listen to him…listen to what Kavya has to say.

Anjali looked and saw Kashish standing near her. She was surprised to see that Kashish was defending Kavya.

Anjali: Kashish…what are you doing here?...You are defending him…after what he did to us…I mean…

Kashish: Okay…listen to me…at least listen to me

Anjali calmed down and listened to everything that Kashish was telling her.

By the time, Kashish had finished, Anjali was feeling guilty, she had tears in her eyes. To some extent she also felt stupid, to have drank the poison.

Kashish: Well now you know the truth…the decision is up to you now.

Kashish looked at Kavya then at Sujal.

Kashish: Erm…I think we'd better leave these two alone

Both Sujal and Kashish left the room, leaving Kavya and Anjali alone.

Anjali just sat there staring at Kavya, where as Kavya was sat on a chair just looking down on the ground.

Anjali: Why don't you come over here?

Kavya looked up at Anjali and then behind him.

Kavya: I'm sorry were you talking to me.

Anjali: Yes you…come…over…here

Kavya: What's the magic word?...

Anjali: NOW!!!

Kavya: No…I won't…Anjali, I can't stay here…I'm leaving…

Kavya got up and was about to leave.

Anjali: Kavya…don't leave…please…don't…

Kavya stopped and turned towards her.

Kavya: Why should I stop?...You tell me…you don't even care about me?

Anjali: I do…I do…I'm sorry I shouldn't have doubted you…I…

Kavya walked a little closer to Anjali and then stopped.

Kavya: Do you think I give a damn about you doubting me…Anjali…I don't blame you for doubting me…I'm not angry at you because of that…

Anjali: So why are you?....

Kavya: I'm angry at you, because of this stunt you just pulled…did you even once think about how I wouldn't be able to live without you…okay forget about me…what about Kripa…she's still not feeling well…if anything had happened to you…what would I have told her…I couldn't tell her…did you even once think about those people who loved you?...Did you…?

But then Kavya stopped, as he saw that Anjali had burst into tears, he hadn't even realised that she was crying.

He immediately rushed over to her and put his arms around her.

Kavya: Anjali…I'm sorry…I didn't mean to make you cry…I…I…

Anjali could barely talk, as she couldn't stop crying.

Anjali: No…I'm sorry….please forgive me…please forgive me…

Kavya wiped away Anjali's tears.

Anjali: You're right…I didn't even think about Kripa…I…I…

Kavya put his finger over Anjali's lips.

Kavya: Ssssssshhhhh…Don't say anything else…I don't want to see these tears in your eyes anymore…from now on, I just want to see that pretty smile of yours…promise me…promise me that you will never cry in life…

Anjali tried to smile. She managed to get a little smile on her face.

Anjali: I promise…

Then Anjali hugged Kavya.

Anjali: Oh god…I love you sooooo much…stupid

Kavya: I love you too you bandariya…

Anjali smacked Kavya on the back of his head and smiled.
