It is quite late in the night and Kaajjal wakes to find herself in Dev's arms. She smiles at the beautiful memories and then whispers "Happy Birthday" in his ears. He opens his eyes and smiles "Thank you. I am glad you are the first one to wish me. I was praying to your Gannubhaiya that you should wish me first." She teases him "Since when did you start believing in Gannubhaiyaa?" But she sobers when she sees the trauma in his eyes suddenly and says "Please Dev forget what happened. Now we must think how to get those two punished for what they did to you and ........." she can't bring herself to say Paayal's name. She tries to move away from Dev but he senses her duel and pulss her closer. "Kaajjal, no. You must at no point think that you will come second. You will always be first and foremost in my life now. Paayal is my duty but you are my love, my life. My life has no meaning without you." He says it with such strong conviction and a passion, that she simply melts in his arms. He kisses her tears away and she hugs him tight muttering "I love you Dev" He reassures her with his I love you too Kaajjal" and the flames of passion get re-ignited. He brings her closer but then his cell rings. It is a phone from the clinic. Dev is instantly worried and receives the phone. He holds Kaajjal's hand in a tight grip and Kaajjal reassures him. He listens and after the call ends has tears in his eyes. "Dev, what happened? Why are you crying Dev? Please talk, who was it? Devvvv?" He controls his emotions and hugs Kaajjal. "It was from the clinic, Paayal is dead!" Kaajjal too is shocked and tears flow from her eyes for the pain dev feels. She thinks that somewhere in some corner of Dev's heart, something is dead. She can see that pain in his eyes and cries for his lost love. Dev cries, thinking poor Paayal, had to suffer so much. She was a nice girl, but I promise to Paayal that K-A will repent for what they did to you and to my love, my life Kaajjal. He thinks more about Kaajjal and her trauma and cries for that but Kaajjal thinks he has tears for Paayal.
They both are lost in a comforting hug and then Dev recollects himself. He calms down a bit and wipes her tears too. Lovingly he looks at this wonderful girl who cries for him and laughs for him. How on earth will he live if she is not in his life. He smiles at her and says "I will drop you home and I shall have to go to the clinic to complete the formalities before the duo realise it. I want to beat them to it. You do understand don't you Kaajjal?" she nods and says "I wish I could be with you. I don't like it if you went there alone. Besides I would love to see her'. In her mind she says, I know how much you loved her and would want to see the girl who was in your dreams before me. Dev understands her innermost thoughts and agrees with a heavy heart. He owes it to her. So he gently smiles and reassures her it is her he loves and not Paayal. She is a mere duty for him. She smiles and they get dressed............................
