Part- 43
For past three hours there was only news playing on every news channel – Angad Khanna's kiss of death. There was not a single person in the city that was not affected by this news. His employees were lined up outside the hospital. The best doctors of the country were operating on him for last three hours and still there was no guarantee that Angad Khanna will survive. There were a lot of people that were affected from this incident but there was one person whose world shattered when he fell on to the floor in her arms. Kripa Sharma knew that she will lose any reason to live if anything happened to him. Oh! She was mad at him. How can he tell her he loves her and attempt to leave her like this? He was lying there going white in her arms but still looking in her eyes and telling her he loves her. Those eyes always spoke to her but this time she could not read them or she did not wanted to believe what she saw in them. He had loved her all along. She was the only person sitting in the waiting room because they were not able to budge her. She is going to stay here and make sure he comes back with her. Shabd has gone somewhere with Josh and Shabbir, her parents are in cafeteria with rest of the gang.
The door to the waiting room opened and Shabd, Josh and Shabbir came in with some cops and special agents. She looked into the eyes of her brother as he came and sat in front of her. There was so much pain in those eyes that Shabbir wanted to mess the whole plan Angad had made. But Shabd had already called everyone in the waiting room. Her parents and whole gang was here. Amber was sleeping in jenny aunt's arms. Aaliya was just distraught. There was possibility that she was going to lose her brother. This is not fair. This is so not fair. And what was going on Aaliya thought. Why is everyone called up here? She hated this place. She has lost everything in this place. The waiting rooms are the most horrible parts of hospitals. And then she saw Kripa and her heart melted. There was someone who was going to lose more than she ever will. When everyone was seated Shabd looked into the eyes of Vedh and asked him one question, "What do you think Mr. Sharma is Angad going to live through this? Your only daughter did not but this time you should be happy that at least they got the target right."
"I don't know what you are talking about? I have two daughters...and what happened with Angad is tragic and I hope he gets better." Vedh answered but there was a sweat breaking on his forehead.
"What are you talking about Shabd?" Kripa asked. "What is going on here?"
"Well Kripa the accident that happened five years ago was not an accident. It was a planned murder. It was Angad's SUV Nishant was driving. Remember that Angad had just joined the business and he found that someone was embezzling money out of the company. The same person, who did that 26 years ago when your parents died or should I say murdered." Shabd replied.
"My parents murdered... Shabd my parents are sitting right here...and are you trying to say that someone was planning to kill Angad five years ago...shabbir bahi tell me what is going on here? Your parents were killed 26 years ago right?"
"No, Kripa it was our parents were killed 26 years ago." Shabbir replied. He has to tell Kripa everything. He has to bring justice to his parents and Dilip uncle's family and Angad.
"Kripa you and I share same blood. We are real siblings. Mrs. and Mr. Sharma had only one daughter, Gauri. And what a way god brings justice, right dad." Shabbir asked Vedh, "You killed one of your friends and 22 years later you lose your only daughter when you tried to kill another's child."
"False, all the statements are false. After all we have done for you this is was we get-accusations." Vedh roared as he saw his cover blowing up. His wife was crying beside him. Kripa just stood there astonished trying to process everything.
"All for money... you did this all for money." Shabbir continued without paying any heed to his so called father, " you did this because you wanted my property and you took care of Kripa because your wife wanted another child but she could not have more because of health issues so you made Kripa your daughter when she was born during that accident. I was too young and terrified at that time to know what was going around me. You killed my parents because my father came to know about your embezzling. Easy plan was what you went with; you cut the connections of the brakes and bribed the police department. But you never gave up that habit of yours to invest in bad stocks and gambling. When Angad found out that someone is embezzling money you tried to kill him. He was supposed to driving his own SUV on that day and everyone was supposed to be in different car. But last minute the agency that he hired to investigate about the embezzling called him to tell about you and Nishant took his SUV. It blasted and killed everyone. Sometimes things don't work out the way we want and same trick does not work twice. Then you wanted Amber because she was the only thing that you could hold on to of your daughter. You used Kripa and she went against Angad. It shattered him but he came through and took Amber away from you. Angad did not even let your shadow come near her. And still all these you hatred toward him was increased. And this time you succeeded to get through all his security because he called you all here. This time you could plan it better, being near to him was an assets to your plan. You forgot one little detail that this time Angad knew what was coming towards him. Unlike last time he had a face to put on his enemy. This time we were prepared. Yes, your men managed to shoot him. But trust me that he will come through and you will lose. We have got every proof against you. Did you really think it was going to be that easy to get rid of Angad? While you were planning his end; he was planning yours. We have all proofs against you Mr. Sharma." Shabbir gestured to the cops and they arrested Vedh Sharma.
Kripa finally registered everything and asked her mom "Is that true?"
"Yes, it is but beta humne tumhe kabhi paraya nahi mana...apni beti ki tarah rakha hai maine tujhe aur shabbir ko utna hi pyaar diya jitna guari ko...maine kaha bhi tha Vedh se ki aisa mat karo main iss baar inka saath nahi doongi leking amber ke pyaar ne mujhe sab kuch bhula diya. Kripa beta main tujhse aur Shabbir kitna pyaar karti hoon iska gawah mera bhagwaan hai...maine tera aur Angad ka bura kanbhi nahi chaha. Mujhe to bas itna pata tha ki yeh dilip bhaishab se pooch kar paise le rahe hai... saari baat mujhe aaj samajh me in aayi jab aaj Angad ko goli lagi...aaj mujhe sharam aati hai ki main Vedh ki patni hoon. Beta ho sake to mujhe maaf kar dena." Gaythri said.
"Mom aap aisa kyun keh rahe hain,"Shabbir said, "he never told you the truth either and I don't doubt your love for us. Please don't blame yourself for all his mistakes." Shabbir said looking at vedh as he hugged his mother, " you are as you always have been our mother. And don't worry about Angad, he is strong he will definitely come around."
Gaythri was crying in the arms of his son when they took her husband away. Shabbir's heart was too big to let the woman who has raised him as her son suffer so much. He knew she was silent all these years about this because it was she loved them and Amber. He promised himself that he will take care of her.
Kripa on the other hand was just shattered. Everything that made her identity was in question. Her father was long dead. And the man who she thought was her father tried to kill the love of her life. And the love of her life was still fighting death inside those close doors. She did not know where to go from here. Life was so unfair. What should one do when everything that makes you identity turns out to be a lie? No one could think worse of her than she was thinking of herself. No one could curse her more than she was cursing herself for not believing Angad. The pain was so strong that it made her numb. That was good in a way because she did not wanted to feel but it was just wishful thinking. Angad have given her everything he has including his life. Oh! God how will she live without him? Breathing already seemed a difficult task. She had no idea where to take her life from here. She did not deserve Angad at all. He had made her smile when he was suffering inside. He had taken care of her every need when he was not even sure that his life will let him see another day. Even in his last moments he gave her very beautiful memories. Who would have guessed five years ago that Angad had such innate niceness in him? What have she given him in return- sorrow and grief. Just then Aunt Jenny came to her, there was such comfort in those eyes that she just broke down in her arms all curled up.
"He did not tell you the whole truth, did he?" Jenny aunty asked. Kripa just nodded in reply. Tears just did not seem to stop. She was both physically and emotionally drained right now. " Gadha hai ek number ka...kaha tha usse sab kuch sach sach bata de tujhe par nahi mana...tere liye aasan hota na agar wo bata deta toh?" Kripa again nodded. Yes it would have been so easier for her to deal with this. She would have had an assurance that he trusted her to stick around this time. She was crying her heart out in her arms, another person, and another support Angad has given to her. Just then Shabbir came to her. It was so hard to look into his eyes because he always told her to patch up with Angad but she was too stubborn to do so initially and late it was too late.
"It's never too late Kripa." Shabbir replied, he knew his little sister too well to know what she was thinking. "It is still your call as it always is. I know how you feel." Shabbir took the seat next to her. Jenny aunty took amber and they were all ready to go home now. Mishty was tired and there were not too many people allowed in the waiting room any ways. Kripa hugged her brother and cried her heart out. When she was done he wiped her tears and made her look at him, " Kripa bacha...i know it is hard but this is how it is. I have been through this grief twice once when our parents died and once when Angad told me the truth. He was so supportive. I know you feel betrayed down to the bone but I am going to make it easier for you. There was no one to tell me what to do but I am here to tell you. Kripa embrace the truth and the fact that this was not your fault. There was nothing you could do about it. It happened this way because it was meant to. Stop using your brain for a change and listen to your heart. When I listened to mine I started loving Aaliya more because she was important. I could not face Aaliya when Angad told me the truth. I felt it was me who killed her parents. She gave me four days to get my act together when I did not; she came to my apartment and did it for me. She told me that it was not my fault. Past is not important to her.She told me to concentrate on my now. She was going through so much but she was there for me. She was my now and that is what I concentrated on. We helped each other through that horrible time. Think about now and the future...past is not important...present and the future is. That is only way to fix any problem honey. Listen to your heart, think about your priorities now and work it out. Now come on lets go eat something. Last time you ate was lunch its 1 o'clock in the morning. Don't worry about him he will come around and when he does we will give him grief for scaring us like this." Kripa was so tired that she let her brother take control for now. They went to cafeteria. Aaliya was waiting there for them. Aaliya just squeezed her hand in reassurance as Shabbir made her sit. She hugged Shabbir when he took a seat next to her.
"Now both of you eat and I do not want any arguments." Aaliya ordered both of them, "you are both going to need it." She said and placed their sandwiches in front of them.
"Everyone gone?" Shabbir asked trying to lighten the mood.
"Yes, josh took everyone home and Shabd is outside making a statement to the press. He will be here any minute. Kripa don't worry he will be fine." Aaliya said. Kripa nodded, just how much she hoped that what everyone was saying turned to be true.
Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Kripa could hear the clocking ticking taking time away with it. She could hear the hustling of feet in the corridor outside. She could hear the breathing of sleeping Shabd. And finally at five o' clock in the morning she could hear the voice of her heart. She will only concentrate on Angad now. She was his universe and now he will be hers. The surgery was still going on. Just then the door opened and Emily entered the waiting room with her usual grace. She had been a great help. She saw Shabd and sighed and Kripa knew she have found another friend.
"Is he alright?" she asked Kripa about Angad. He was her boss as well as a good friend. She had been taking of the press since the accident and finally they were all settled down, for now at least.
"Still in the surgery. Oh! Emily it's been seven hours. What are they doing in there?" Kripa asked.
"The bullet was too close to his heart...you don't worry.." before she could finish the door from the operation theatre opened and the doctors came out. Emily just dropped a glass of water to wake him.
"His life was saved. We have removed the bullet but he has lost a lot of blood and he is really weak. He will be here for good eight weeks. We are moving him to the ICU and he will be under observation for 24 hours and you can only see him after that. I will go make the statement to the press." The doctor went out along with his team.
They were just too ecstatic. Shabd whopped and hugged both Kripa and Emily. Kripa saw sun rising from the window. A start of new day and a new life for her. The person who was her life was going to be okay. Everything was going to be okay.
