“U told me”
“No I am going to meet a guy for marriage”
“Cool” he said after staring at her face interminably

Wedding Luck
She was a bit startled by his reaction
She had hoped for more?
She would wonder about it at home, but managed to appear nonchalant
This is going to be so embarrassing when Nakul M and I are not going to work out
“I just thought we should explore the date option there for a li; while I guess” she smiled sheepishly
Her eyes sparkled he noticed with a inaudible graon
She was gorgeous, loose tendrils framing her face, her large voluminous cotton mirrorwork bag filled with stuff.
He was sure she had a house and a car in there she could pull out with aplomb
“I better go” she nodded as if making a mental note
“Tests are on consecutive weeks before his final school exams”
He said to her back she paused and turned around
“Consecutive weeks?” she was furious
“Did you want him to test out the same day?”
“Umm”
“He is 13, you think he can do both tests of algebra on the same day?” he scoffed
“You are concerned about your nephew now?”
“I always was”
“Who gets the 2nd week?” “YOU?”
“You can have it” he smiled gently
She felt like a fool
She could never predict what he was going to give in to
He was cool smooth and oh so inscrutable
“I can actually teach one extra week?” she asked him astonished
“Hmm” he nodded crossing his arms across his chest
“Tumhe lose karne ka hai?” she giggled like a child
He felt a stirring inside
“Maybe?” he whispered not letting go of the gaze
They stood staring at each other
“Then you shouldn’t have spent time teaching the kid” she tried to figure him out
“Doesn’t matter… Pankaja” he stressed
“Oh yeah I HAVE to win… I don’t want to be Pankaja” she growled
“What DO you want to be” he approached her slowly
“Rich, carefree, hot and pampered” she blurted without thinking
He registered all the asks attentively
She realized she had just told him her life’s mission
“Welll… you have one thing taken care of already” he grinned devilishly
“You mean pampered? YES… Love ma Ajj”
“Ah” he nodded without revealing he was going to say “Hot”
Jaati hai mai” she whispered
“Good luck with the wedding”
“Thanks” she smiled genuinely
“We all need it” he thought to himself wryly
He would have been a man with a kid, or kid on the way…. If his fiancée Mithila Karanth hadn’t dumped him at the altar
He knew he was never getting married again
He wondered how anyone could trust a relationship
Every damn thing was a hoax. Most marriages were inches from falling apart
His parents had a wonderful one
But Aai had to check out early leaving Baba a aimless mess
He felt a lump in his throat when he thought of Aai. She would have made it all better for him he thought
He was going to hook up with women, make money and have a good time………….
