"Kripa Sharma and modest? No way!!" Kripa and Simon turned to see who it was and it brought a smile to Kripa's face. " Look who's talking. Mr. Angad Khanna!"
"Hey Simon!" Angad took a seat at their table and took a sip from Kripa's water. "Hey Angad. Ready for your session today?" Kripa looked at Simon with a surprised expression. "Wait, you mean to say that you are Angad's trainer too?"
"Why Kripa? Are you jealous that I found him first?"
"Hah! No way, Angad. Anyways, I have to go. You see I'm an extremely busy person." Kripa got up to leave. "Bye Kripa. We dont want you here anyways."
She just stood there for a second and then looked at Simon as she controlled her temper. "Bye Simon. I'll call you later!"
"Yeah sure." They both exchanged smiles and then Kripa looked at Angad with a I-want-to-kill-you look. He just smiled back, teasingly. When she left, both Angad and Simon stared at her. "She's hot!" Simon said. Angad just grinned as he watched her get into her own car and drive off.
"Dont I know it!" He smiled again and then turned to Simon. "So? Time for the training?" Simon nodded and led Angad towards the gym.
The phone rang and Kripa quickly turned the speaker on as she continued getting dressed. "Hello?" She bent down to pull the strap on her shoes tighter.
"Where you been you whore?"
"Sarah?" Kripa brushed her hair. "No! Duh!"
"I cant talk right now woman I need to get dressed really fast."
"Why? where you going?"
"I have a date. With Simon!"
"Simon? You mean Simon Rodricks?"
"Yes! Him. You know..my NEW personal trainer."
"Ooohh. Simon Rodricks..thats one hottie, by the way." Kripa giggled at Sarah's comments. "But wait a minute. I thought you were dating Sid. He knows about this?"
"Oh who cares about Sid anymore, Sarah. Its Simon now. Sid's history." She stood up and fixed her dress. "Anyway. Talk to you later, woman. Its time to go. Goodbye!" Kripa turned the speaker off and took a deep breath.
It had been almost a week since she had hired Simon to be her trainer. And Simon had already asked her out. She had always been attracted to him, she thought, as she walked down the steps of her door as he stood there with a bouquet in his hands. She was wearing this hot red dress that had a halter neck and stuck to her body as if it was her second skin, making her look hotter than usual. Her hair had slightly reddish brown highlights that went perfectly with her dress. "You look great." Simon said with a pleasant smile on his face.
"You dont look that bad either, Mr. Rodricks." She leaned in to kiss his cheek and then moved back. "You ready?" She nodded with confidence.
"Hi. We have a reservation here. Mr. Angad Khanna!" Angad stood there with Chandni as the man continued to check for his name. "Yes Sir. Please follow me."
Chandni put her arm around Angad's as they followed the man towards their table. "Please be seated Sir." Angad pulled the chair for Chandni and then sat down accross from her.
Noticing that Angad wasnt concentrating on the night, Chandni felt a little uncomfortable. "Angad?"
"Hmm?" He looked at her now. "I was just..Thank you."
"For what?"
"For tonight. I know its been a long time since we came out like this. I'm happy we did though." He smiled and placed a hand on hers. "Anything for a smile on your face." She blushed and looked down.
"Chandni I.." He stopped speaking when he heard someone laughing right behind him. He turned around and looked at them. Suddenly, a smile sprang upon his face.
"Excuse me, Chandni." He got up and walked towards them.
"I thought you were dating Sid for the past few months, Kripa. What happened?" Simon asked Kripa as she sipped some of her wine. "It just wasnt working. I was..."
"What a surprise?" Kripa and Simon looked at the man standing by their table. "Angad?" She looked at him, surprised. Somehow he always ended up where she was.
"Hey Kripa. Nice to see you again. Hey, Simon." Simon nodded his head and then watched Kripa stand up really fast. "Angad..what are you doing here? Not following me, I hope." Angad smirked. "Oh please. Men like me, dont follow women. Women follow us."
"Oh? and who are these women? I am definitely NOT one of them." He smirked again. "Never said you were."
"Angad you.." Simon didnt want this to ruin his date and thought it best to intervene. "Umm..Angad. So who are you with?"
He pointed towards Chandni. "My girlfriend. I see you both are on a date here."
"Yeah we are."
"Thats great Kripa. I knew you didnt waste time but damn, you are fast woman!" She just stood there, all irritated.
Angad looked towards Chandni who was looking at them, not knowing why Angad had gone there. "If you guys want to make this a double date, I'd be pleased to invite you."
"Oh no its.." Kripa interrupted Simon. "Well, sure Angad. That would be a lovely idea. Now, wouldnt it be, Simon?"
He frowned and answered. "Yes, sure. Great idea."
"Good. Then you guys can just come over to our table."
Angad led them to the table Chandni was sitting at. She stood up when Kripa and Simon walked there. "Chandni, meet them. This is Kripa Sharma and this is her date, Simon Rodricks."
"Hey, I'm Chandni. I'm Angad's.."
"Woman." He put his arm around Chandni's waist and smiled as he looked at Kripa. "Hi chandni." Simon smiled and then pulled the chair out for Kripa and sat down himself.
"So, Kripa. How do you and Angad know each other?" Kripa looked up from her plate as Chandni asked her.
"We met.."
"At the party last weekend." Angad immediately answered. Kripa looked at him, astonished. Angad looked at her with a strong face, almost forbidding her.
"The party? Great." Chandni smiled and got back to her own plate.
Kripa just looked at Angad, still shocked and angry. She moved her hand really fast and ended up spilling her glass of wine on her dress. "Oh s***" She stood up and tried to brush off the stain. "You okay kripa?" Simon, looked concerned.
"Yeah. I'm really sorry guys. I'll be back. I'm gonna go to the bathroom!" She looked at Angad real quick and walked away.
Angad sat there for the next minute or so and then got up himself. "Excuse me. I'll be right back." Without letting anyone react, he walked away.
Kripa stood in front of the sink, cleaning her dress with some water, when Angad walked in and grabbed her arm. "What the hell were you planning to do out there?"
"What are you talking about Angad?"
"You very well know what damn thing I'm talking about. What were you going to tell Chandni?"
"The truth! That we didnt just meet at some party. We met.."
"10 years ago? Are you out of your mind, Kripa?"
"Why? Whats wrong with saying that?" He made his grip on her arm tighter. "Listen, Kripa. I dont want you to tell Chandni anything! You get it?" She pushed him back. "Why? Youre scared she's going to leave you, Angad?"
He just stared at her for a few seconds. "Look Kripa. That is none of your business. We met 10 years ago, things happened, and then we went our separate ways. There is no point in telling Chandni anything. It doesnt matter anymore."
"It doesnt matter? Fine, Angad. If it didnt matter to you. Then it doesnt matter to me. Just go away!" She pushed him and walked away. Angad slammed the mirror in anger.
When she was at the door, Kripa stopped and turned around. "You know what it really is, Angad?" He just looked at her, his face as cold as ice. "You have started to fall in love with Chandni, whether you believe it or not. Or else you would never stop me."
She stormed out of the bathroom as he stood there, thinking about what she had just said. Love? He thought. It never existed for him. Whatever had happened between Kripa and him 10 years ago was long behind them. Atleast, thats what he wanted to believe. They had met and then separated. So why was he so scared, even today, to tell anyone about his past?
Angad parked the car in front of his apartment building and sat there for a few seconds. He looked at Chandni, sitting next to him. She was asleep already but there was this smile on her face that made him happy. He got out of the car and then opened the door to her seat. He scooped her into his arms.
He carried her up the stairs and then opened the door to his apartment. As he placed her on the bed, he fell back, tired.
Slowly, he felt her turn and then put her hands around him. "Angad.." He didnt look at her. "I love you, Angad." He just listened. She looked at him and touched his face. "Angad you have never made me this happy. Thank you." He looked at her now. That innocent look on her face did something to him. Suddenly, he felt guilty. For lying to her. He had to tell her the truth, he thought. Sooner or later. But why? Was he falling in love with her? No way, he thought. She was sweet girl but Angad Khanna could never fall in love..again.
He got up and walked away, leaving Chandni shocked.
He took a walk in the moonlight as the waves of the sea hit the beach. He just stood there for a while, staring at the moon. It was beautiful, he thought, but had a scar on it just like his beautiful life had one.He suddenly turned around and got into his car to go home and tell Chandni everything.
When he got back, Chandni was sitting on the couch, waiting for him. When he walked into the door, she quickly got up and hugged him really tight. "Angad, where were you? God!! you scared me." She exhaled a breath of relief and her body calmed when it touched his.
"Chadni. I have to tell you something." The tone of his voice made him uncomfortable. She let go and looked into his eyes. She closed her eyes and kissed him gently. "Ok. Now you can tell me whatever you want." He felt really guilty now.
He made her sit on the couch and he placed his hands on her knees. "Chandni...when I told you today that Kripa and I met at the party last weekend, I was lying." She looked at him, with a foreboding expression. She knew that whatever he was going to say now wasnt going to be good.
Kripa woke up at the phone ring. "Hello?"
"Kripa.." It was Angad. She knew it was him. "Angad? Are you okay? You seem really.."
"I need you Kripa..Can you please come over?" She felt the tears rolling down her cheek. The tears that hadnt rolled down for the past 10 years. Today, Angad needed her. She had promised herself that she wouldnt care about him anymore. Then why today? Why now? Why had he come back now?
