Viveka engagement broke..is that you are referring to? The two are different but each other confidante..friends. hence the banter maybe. Most of us take a long time to see any faults in our parents, siblings or even close friends. We overlook it or are blind to it or make excuses for it when confronted. Maybe same is true for Viveka when it comes to Naina. (Raanav is doing same for Smrita. )

I absolutely agree about taking a long time to see our loved ones as human beings with flaws, a very long time. These two are still young relatively.

Naina’s immaturity also shows in her notions about love and relationships too. What she sees as arguments is their way of communicating (Satyen hoped he would get a ring side view at least sometimes). Each couple will have their own, not a standard filmy version😆

I do agree that we overlook the flaws of our loved ones. But is it also not true that we feel more concerned about our loved ones, particularly parents and siblings, than our acquaintances.

When Viveka told Naina that her marriage is temporary, shouldn't Naina worry about her sister's decision and it's consequences, rather than be thrilled that her sister also belongs to the Wild West like her.

And so many times Viveka has told her that she loves Raanav. The last time the sisters met in some mall and later Viv cried in Rajitji's car, even during that meet, Viv did say she loves her husband.

What happened to that love today? Naina also did not ask her that question and Viv has forgotten that confession of hers?

Or is Naina just happy that her sister too will not get a wealthy life like she did not?

You're absolutely right about there been no remorse or concern on Naina's part for her sister, one who has always been there for her, had her back. Naina really comes across as very shallow and immature.

The difference between both family setups is also stark isn't it. Raanav if he is paying attention would notice that, here is a unit everyone pulling their weight in many ways. Over there its air kissing and making the right noises. Not that there is no love there, but it really doesn't come across as a unit. You don't feel any warmth, or a sense of welcome unlike here (or is it that we probably have more in common with the Mathurs?!!). Viveka must really feel like a fish out of water, the same way Raanav seems in her house which she noticed.

In a earlier update to Viveka question about Inder continued love did Naina not counter question it..implying what about her feelings for him.. that she may not be in love with Inder anymore.(One good thing..finally 😘)

So maybe a breakup in marriage is not a big deal for her. If she thinks Viveka wants an out to.

Given Viveka see saws from love to sex regarding Raanav..maybe Viveka confusion ...confuses her.

In which case Naina’s actions, whatever she did, her reactions seem an overkill, if she is no more in love with him. Leaving in its wake not just hers but so many relationships broken. Hers and her sister’s for one.

Whiplash

It was hard to intimidate Anu, she had a MIL at home and aggressive coworkers at the office. Smrita appeared almost 20 minutes after the Mathurs were seated by Satyen

Bua and her kids were invited too

“Hum family hain Akashji we should hang out more often” Satyen stressed when Akash informed him that his sister’s family was on the way

The Dhamijas were already in the living room

A giant white canopy like tent covered half the front lawn, crew worked to set up the bonfire

Within 5 minutes of having sit down, Nupur Dhamija declared “how hard Smrita has worked to acquire “sustainable” material for the fire”

“Oh she was so very particular the audience was told

There were 3 other families, Grovers, Bakshis and Sunejas

“Viveka ready ho gayi?” Anu asked Satyen

“You should go check your self”

“Ma can I go too?” Diya and Karuna sprinted behind her

The girls were poised and well dressed

Naina was expected to show up with Bua & Co. so were Dadi and Dadu

Dadi had spent all day coaxing Anil Chachu and Garima to travel for Lohri

Satyen sent a help with Anu so she could find the room

After returning home last night, Raanav had told her they need to talk about how frequently she would go to Rohini

“You are insufferable” she told him

“Well then you wont mind me if I show up at 2 PM and wait over there” he told her pinning her to the wall

“Did you tell Papa “I am looking for my wife”

“Umm.. yeah?” he shrugged

She closed her eyes with her hand in embarrassment

“Viveka Mathur”

“Stop saying that” she whispered

He bend down on her neck…. “U chose not to change your name”

“Haan is liye nahi ki tum baar baar mujhe aise bulao”

“U are the dutiful daughter”

“Gee thanks”

“I might have to teach you to be a dutiful wife” he spoke fightin words

“Yeh baat hai? Jaise ki? Raat ko tumhare pair dabaoon?” she winked

He pulled her glasses off as she protested

In bed later…

“Why are you so jumpy when you see me?”

“I will let you know when I figure it out” she mumbled

“I like chatting with your Mum”

“Oh?” she opened her eyes to gaze into his

“Surprised?”

“I mean she is a knockout in the brains department and looks…” she sighed

“I might know one of her daughters who is like that” he gently stroked her cheek

His favorite thing to do she decided

“I know Diya is like HER”

“Playing the tease Mathur?” he not so gently eased himself back up on top of her again

He was possessive and demanding, and expected to see her every evening in his house she realized

Her heart thudded, as a gurgling foam of joy left her throat

Anu knocked on the door

There was as usual some argument happening inside

Raanav opened the door after 5 minutes

“Great to see you” he smiled genuinely

Diya gave him a hug

“You WORE INDIAN?” she gushed

“I am told somebody is sick of seeing me in work clothes”

Viveka appeared with her face flushed wearing her left earring

“Kya hua?”

“Kuch nahi Ma” she smiled

Diya ran off inside with Raanav to see his music production equipment as Anu sat in the visitor area of the suite

“Tayar nahi hui?”

“Nahi lad rahi thi” Viveka smiled

“VEEV” Anu scowled

“What? Chilll…. He has ego the size of Siberia” Viveka smiled whispering softly

“Aaj tyohar hai”

“I know… I am not letting it get out of the room”

“The house is SO beautiful

“You should tell his Mom, she might become your best friend” Veev laughed

Anu realized her daughters were genuine, matter of fact and honest like her husband

“Tum Papa ki tarah ho” Anu sighed with pride leaning back and explained how he would pay such a compliment to his adversary unpretentiously

“Mujhe to yeh bola gaya main aapki tarah hoon” Viveka leaned on her mother’s shoulder

“I hope I was as intelligent as you Beta”

“Phir aapko bhi nahi milti admission at IIT K

It broke Anu’s heart to pieces

“Kya socha hai?”

“Pata nahi, whenever we start to talk about it we fight, mujhme bhi hai ego” she sighed

“Not enough if you readily admit it” Anu laughed

“Raanav lawyer hai kaise jeet paati ho arguments” Anu smiled fondly

“Nahi jeet paati” Viveka blushed indicating how it usually ended

Anu gently squeezed her hand

“He pursued you and was direct never misled you I admire him”

“Aap dono ko ek society shuru kar deni chahiye”

“He was probably being polite” (If he was appreciating me!)

“He is like his Dad in many things” Viveka ack grudgingly

“Your MIL liked my saree” Anu said almost in a whisper

“I think she wants to wear the type of sarees you and I do but she is caught up in what she SHOULD wear” Viveka smiled sagely

She heard the twins chattering in the music room

“If they were not so weird about Inder, they seem like good people” Anu grimaced

“Papa is too” “Papa liked Abhishek but umm.. you know” “You know how that turned out?”

“Tum apni MIL ko support kar rahi ho?” Anu was amused

“No not really Ma” Viveka shook her head

As luck would have it when Naina arrived, Inder did too and they both walked in together

Anu and Viveka hung on to fenceposts not to long ago in Viveka’s room about giving people a chance and wishing for survival, but seeing the couple that started it all was like whiplash

Ranaav never speaks as if he married Viveka for anything but his love for her.

He indeed is presuming its forever. As far as I remember when they agreed they would marry for Satyen's sake, Ranaav didn't reply to Viveka when she spoke about wanting to walkout after things settle .

So now Viveka has problem being called Viveka Mathur. This is great. Ranaav is proving to be good son in law for sure.

Sorry to butt in, but he told her specifically that she can walk out of the marriage. He said it out first, she wrote it up in a text the previous night but never sent it to him. He didn’t reply when she said I assume if it was my dad you would’ve agreed..

Raanav should tell Satyen in front of Smrita that he likes chatting with his MIL and that he will make her his company's VP or something like that. Smrita will have a heart attack for sure. 😆

Dramatic entry… and exit

“Has she begun dating my son again?” Nupur accused Smrita

“Calm down Nupur I will ask her” Smrita pretended to arrange the havan stuff on a large silver plate

Mr & Mrs Tandon were here now

Mrs Tandon was trying to carve a path through the guests to get to Smrita

She noticed Viveka’s mom at the center of a large crowd

Akash and Satyen were deep in conversation looking at Satyen’s phone

Sid and Viveka were chatting in a corner, Piyush, Mayank and Naina and the twins were chatting with Mitalee Parashar who had flown in an hour ago

There was more help flitting around offering white glove service

Tiki torches and gas fireplaces were aglow all over the front yard

The house looked like a bejeweled crown from a distance

There was atleast 25 cars parked outside and a patrol jeep belonging to Delhi Police hovered near the house for a handsome reward

The food was delicious and drinks flowed like a river after monsoon showers

Dadi was explaining something animatedly to Bua

The newlyweds Harshu and Varsha were giggling with a couple of Raanav and Rakshit’s friend

Everyone knew everyone it looked like now

“I haven’t met your Dadi, do I get an introduction?” Sid asked Viveka

“Do you seriously want to meet my Dadi?”

“WHY not? I overheard her say “Biveka’s in laws has a guy that looks like a cop, that’s a first for me”

Viveka spit her drink out

“DADI said that?”

“Yep”

“She is umm.. what can I say”

“Vi, do you have a second?” raanav squeezed her elbow

“Did u hear what my Dadi said?” he gently steered her towards some friends

“I am sure its very amusing, but hang on” he smiled humorlessly

“Sid is so nice, tum chidte kyon ho us se itna”

“I know why, but I don’t care to talk about it now”

He introduced her to some legal eagle and his wife and they talked shop

“Main jaaoon, Sid se baat karne?” she questioned

“I don’t think so” he held her waist

Smrita appeared in her vision

“Beta can I talk to you for a second?”

“Sure” Viveka walked with Smrita

Mrs Rumi Tandon and Ranjit Tandon followed them with their eyes

Rumi texted her daughter “Everyone is outside, where are you?”

“I cannot be outside when no one is there, MOMMM…. You do know that right?”

“Your SIL and MIL are chatting”

“About what?”

“I dunno, they are too far the music is too loud”

“Does MIL look happy?”

“Umm… yeah”

“Where is Rakshit?”

“I just saw him”

“Aa jao beta”

“Are her parents there too?”

“Yeah…. Your Dad has not been able to get a minute with your FIL”

“Looks like the Mathurs are hogging up”

“To niklo bahar beta”

“I want to make a grand entry Mum”

“I KNOW eyes will turn for sure beta”

“I am glad your parents could come” Smrita was polite

“I am happy too”

“I heard you are sending Raanav to the couch tonight?” Smrita laughed (the laugh Rumi noticed)

“Did he say that?”

“Haan?”

“I told him he can sleep in the many guest rooms”

“All are taken” Smrita insisted

“Then couch it is” Viveka smiled

“He has never slept on a couch”

“Not even during college?”

“We have FLATS in London, and NY”

“Ah”

“Are Naina and Inder still seeing each other?”

“Why?” she smiled turning sideways to look at Smrita

In her gorgeous one of a kind silk saree and her hair done up elaborately, she looked like she was 40

“Arey I want to know,” Smrita countered

“I don’t… know… I didn’t ask”

“Sisters don’t talk or what?”

“Hahahaha… we do, we didn’t talk about Inder”

“Nupur said Inder is very busy and has no time to date”

“I am sure Inder knows that”

“Nupur can talk to Naina”

“I am sure she can”

“We are just waiting for Satya to get better”

“I understand we all are” Viveka nodded compassionately

“So Inder can get married”

“Great news”

“He wont marry Naina, Viveka” Smrita felt gurgling joy in conveying that piece of news to Viveka “She is great and all… but wont happen” Smrita squeezed Viveka’s hand warmly

“Aap MUJHE kyon keh rahin hain yeh baat” Viveka kept her composure

“Aap bata do na beta apni sister ko” urging Naina to make an exit from his life
