Theirs has so far been a marriage of margins. Oscillating between Vi to Ms. Mathur to the parashar kid. No anchor yet

Yikes! As it is, a trip to the dentist is scary. Root canal is poor torture. Hope you feel better soon 🤗

HAHA

Truly!

But "I" would bet all my money on the Mathurs if I were a spectator, maybe because I am not an ultra wealthy billionaire and I will always be clouded by that bias. Plus between Smrita and Anu, Anu has WAY more redeeming qualities

Thanks everyone! I feel SO much better today!

Also in my mind if there is zero conflict, and deep down Raanav is like a Hindi film hero, handing out wads of cash every morning outside his gate, then there will be no story, similarly there will be no story if Viveka turns into a Smrita and starts hating the poor

Or joins Raanav every morning outside the gate and hands out a 100 rupee wad to the sweepers.

If they both hold their ground, and give in, only rarely we get to see how they struggle to prioritize their ambition and love for the other person

Even good people dont have zero egos

“Tad bit”

“If he was drunk, then I agree he needs to be punished to the fullest extent”

“If he wasn’t?” she demanded

“If he wasn’t he will still be held accountable Viveka Mathur”

“How ever unintentional it was?”

“Lets apply the same rules to Babu shall we?”

“Biwi ko maara hai usne, I am not saying don’t hold the reckless driver accountable but…”

“Oh you are permitting me now? Oh I get it, go after him only to the extent you will deem “fair” he mocked her

“No Raanav destroy him” she was bitter

Viveka replayed the conversation as Mr Rathi weaved through traffic the next morning

Metro would have been easier but Raanav would not have it

“I refuse to let you use your commuting situation as a bargaining chip” he said viciously burying his head in her neck, after love making

“I am not”

“Lets talk about it…. Never… shall we”

“Main”

He kissed her bruised lips softly

“I promise to be safe” she begged

“Yeah lets collect some data on that” he mocked grabbing her and yawning at the same time

Their argument over whether the driver of the vehicle that hit Satyen was more guilty or Babu more guilty had ended in a shouting match that evening

Rakshit always walked in on them fighting she thought, looking out the car window

Raanav had left the room as the brothers went for a mid evening run

“You guys are always at each others’ throats” Rakshit mocked his brother stretching his legs in the front lawn as Raanav retied his shoe laces

“Yeah we were just putting on a show for you” Raanav laughed

“Seriously?”

“Pfftt.. NOOOO”

“What were you fighting about”

“Oh many things”

“Lekha and I haven’t had one fight”

“Good bad?”

“Whatt?”

“Are you happy you guys haven’t or are you upset”

“I think we just get along” Rakshit said with a little envy

“Are you jealous you don’t get to fight” Raanav laughed openly at his brother

“Umm.. I don’t know” the brothers jogged stationary as they waited for the light to turn green, zip code 1 had a lot of rule followers

“Well Lekha is in a different world right”

“Do you mean emotionally?” Rakshit panted sipping water from his bottle as the brothers resumed running

“Hahahaha, I don’t know her emotionally dude, I meant what she does for a living”

“Oh you mean the whole beauty health stuff?”

“Yeah yeah!! “That’s right”

“So THAT’S what you guys war about?” Rakshit asked in shock

“Mostly, her social activism, her feverish urge to strive for economic inequality”

“Crazyyy” Rakshit smiled wiping sweat off his forehead

“Umm”

“How did she even marry you?” Rakshit was shocked

“I know I ask my self that Q”

“I mean HOW?”

“Being wealthy she assumes I am able to disproportionately influence policy” Raanav mumbled with subtle irritation

“I mean she is not wrong, Dad can pick up the phone and call anyone”

“She assumes everyone in the whole chain is corrupt and willing to do our bidding, and no matter how legit our cause we should give up before challenging it”

“Man….”

“I know” Raanav mumbled as they waited for yet another light to turn green

“Does she put you in your place?”

“Frequently” he admitted

“On a lawyer scale of 1-10 how much will you give her for the worthiness of her arguments”

“Umm.. Ooh! 6”

“That means a TEN” Rakshit mocked him

The brothers ran another couple miles away from home, and then turned around

“Did you hear about Cleo?” Rakshit panted as they turned around to head home

“No? “ Raanav paused in shock

“She had to be taken to the vet for a broken leg”

“Whattt?” he was not happy

“Umm.. yeah Mamiji called Mom and I spoke with Inder”

“he probably ran a marathon with her,” Raanav was bitter, unnecessarily judging Inder without knowing the facts fully. Inder had a better body than the brothers, beefy and fit

There might have been a tad bit envy mixed in there as well

“You should have brought her to India”

“I might do that” Raanav was tired and red on his face as they entered the gate

Viveka was chatting sitting on the lounger with her feet up, crouching unmindful of the January cold

He ran through the lawn and approached her

He bend down on her face

“Gross!! Kya kar rahe ho, nahakar aao” she sulked

He dragged her inside and shut the door, and pulled the curtains, as he carried her to the shower

Working off a good fight with a run with the sibling, followed by multiple sessions of uninterrupted s—with wife….

“I might be on to something” he told himself as he fought her in the shower

“Meri baat kar rahe the Rakshit se?” she wanted to know

“Nope” he lied

I like Rakshit!

Also, is Vivek’s judgement about Inder somewhat influencing Raanav’s judgement about Inder now? Or is it just as it read envy for having his dog and a better body?!
