How did Smrita derive that Rakshit was being insulted? Satyen was just talking about Raanav and Viveka and their collective smarts. Is this another sign of insecurity?

Smrita is not about to budge anytime soon. She thinks Raanav is just infatuated and she can get it out of his system eventually. But when it doesn't, she will be left on the sidelines.

There are many things at play here for Smrita

1. Her son is no longer her ally in trashing low class people

2. Raanav marrying Viveka is a sign that Smrita is losing her grip on him

3. Viveka not being of their social and economic class will be something she will be questioned about in her circle and she has to forever answer why

4. It also sends a signal to her friends that she is not so hung up afterall on class etc, thats why even she approved of such an alliance which is blasphemous because her status defines her being,

5. Viveka is someone who intimidates her by doing nothing. Smrita understands wealth and fashion. She doesnt understand nerdy stuff. How will she come to terms?

6 Since Raanav did her bidding thus far, dating, modeling, being class conscious, but this is a clear break away. She is furious as to why

smrita can't deny, much as she wants to, that Viveka has a lot more going for her than she can imagine. She can't come to grips with that.

For her to be openly saying , wanting and plotting to do this or wish this upon the couple after 30 odd years of marriage with Satyen, it's very very disappointing . Makes me wonder, if she has her Satya wrapped around her pinkie.

Hmmm! Me thinks what if Satyen were to turn around and tell her, honey ! What if we're to take sometime off from each other before we get to the stage of dissolving our marriage!

She is clearly exasperating! If Anubha and Akash were to hear this, which parent in the right mind would want to go ahead with this proposal.

Also if Raanav thinks getting married to Viveka will get her to come home and miraculously the so called middle class halo around her head would disappear and his connection there after with everything fragile middle class post their marriage would cease to exist, he has another thing coming!

Her manifestation of hatred, anger, frustration , insecurity and fear .. is this the most pathetic version of smrita we have ever read so far!!

Pubs & Clubs & Fatherly advice

Satyen was very quiet during the meal, Smrita quickly realized she spoke too soon and said too much. But there was no way of going back on it or retracting it. He knew now! He wasn’t the one to easily forget either

She had to distract him or mislead him for a bit.

“We should go some place nice after the wedding” she smiled in an appeasing way

“Rakshit ki shaadi January ki baat ho rahi hai, we cant do it before Feb if Rakshit is OK then go ahead”

“Kidhar hai Ma’am?” help asked

Satyen saw why Smrita might be possessive about her son

“Oh… hes inside, Lekha is here”

“Oh, she got here at 4?”

“His phone died” Raanav grinned

She explained elaborately how she picked and chose every green thing in the planet”

“No dinner?” she enquired

“Haan she must have to make dinner, and such” Smrita pretended to be understanding

“Your mother is adamant about proving that Viveka is underprivileged” Satyen mocked his wife

“I don’t have to prove anything I know… I know” Smrita dragged

“she doesn’t…. you have to make sure you bring her with you to pubs and clubs after u get married”

“Got it!” Raanav was confused as to why he would receive such tame advice

“Has she met your friends?”

“Umm.. no” “Not yet”

“Milwao bhai… have them over, have her over, we will leave for the evening”

“Sure” Raanav was bored “Can we talk about this at home”

“Sure… I was hoping to see you hang with her beta”

Satyen got up picked up the phone and walked toward the back sun room area,

“Whats going on”

Smrita panicked and picked up her smoothie and chased him

“I am delighted by your choice of life partner” Satyen became emotional

His wife’s clinical rant had affected him

“Thanks Dad?” Raanav stared at his father’s face dumbfounded

“She is as amazing as it gets”

“Haha” he laughed

“Buy her nice things, take her on vacations, pamper her, and be the best husband you can be”

“Sure” Raanav nodded sincerely

“8 baje seedhe ghar raat ko”

“I was thinking 4, since she gets home from college at 4” he laughed

“ You’ve got to trust me Dad” Raanav smiled

“Is something wrong?”

“Umm… no… bas aapko maine yeh baat kahi nahi socha aaj keh doon”

“You could tell her to harass me too”

“theek hai… who bhi kar dete hain” he laughed

“Waise aapko karti hain who harass?”

“Nope, we hardly ever talk…. I am usually afraid she is going to ask me a difficult question and I wont know the answer”

Satyen laughed heartily

“Yep…”

“I am hopeful you will have some engaging arguments and I can be a spectator”

“I do too” Raanav said with longing

“You made a good choice” Satyen stressed

“Thanks”

“Have fun beta” he hung up

Smrita was leaning on the doorjamb watching him she quickly turned to go back to the table

“If you did nothing wrong, you should not be so afraid Smrita” he said quietly following her to the table
