Chapter 22:

All the family members were rescued from the fire. Pragya and Abhi, upon realizing the truth about Rhea and Prachi, risked their own lives to save them. However, the aftermath left both Ranbir and Prachi in critical condition, admitted to the ICU. Meanwhile, Shahana and Aryan found their feelings for each other deepening—unaware that Mishti and Rishi were also beginning to develop emotions for them.

In this chapter, all my readers will uncover an interesting revelation about Pranbir.

At the Hospital

Ranbir and Prachi lie unconscious in the ICU. As Prachi drifts in and out of consciousness, her mind replays the harrowing moments when Sanju tried to molest her, how she got trapped in a room engulfed in flames, and how she eventually lost consciousness. Amidst these flashes, she recalls a shadowy figure reaching out to save her. Her eyebrows furrow as she struggles to recognize the person—until, slowly, Ranbir’s face forms in her mind.

Her eyes flutter open, and the realization sinks in—Ranbir had saved her. She remembers how Mr. Mehra later carried her to Pragya. The room is eerily quiet, with no doctor or nurse present. She turns her head to the side and sees Ranbir lying unconscious. A soft smile graces her lips, but it fades as she takes in his injuries. A lone tear escapes her eyes as she whispers his name, "Ranbir..."

Her feeble voice reaches Ranbir, triggering a flood of memories—how he saw Prachi in the midst of the fire, how he fought to save her. His unconscious mind stirs, and he begins to grow restless. Prachi watches, worried, as Ranbir starts murmuring in distress before suddenly jolting awake, shouting, "PRACHI!!!"

Doctors and nurses rush in to calm him down. As they administer a sedative, Ranbir’s eyes begin to droop, but before he drifts off, he turns his head slightly toward Prachi. Their eyes meet, and despite everything, they share a moment of relief—a silent promise lingering between them.

Outside the ICU

Pragya and Abhi pace anxiously. Abhi walks back and forth restlessly, while Purab tries to pacify him. Pragya, overwhelmed with worry, wipes away her tears. Rhea watches from a distance, noticing the pain etched on Pragya’s face. Her gaze falls on the burns and wounds covering Pragya’s hands and shoulders—marks left by the scorching metal railings.

For the first time, concern flickers in Rhea’s eyes. She walks over, holding a first-aid kit. Pragya looks at her, startled yet emotional.

"Auntie," Rhea says hesitantly. "I know I’m nothing like Prachi... I don’t have the right to tend to your wounds. But… remembering how you’ve always been there for me, how you called me Mamma’s little girl while saving me from the fire… can I at least apply this medicine?"

Tears well up in Pragya’s eyes as she nods. It wasn’t an accident, she thinks, that I called you my daughter in that moment. Because that is the truth, my child. I am your mother.

But then, she recalls the harsh words Rhea had once uttered—how much she hated her mother, how she blamed her for ruining her and Bua’s life. Pragya’s gaze shifts to Aliyah, who stands a few feet away. A silent storm brews within her. Tears escape her eyes, landing on Rhea’s hand.

Rhea gently wipes them away. "I’m the reason for these tears, aren’t I, Auntie?"

"Don’t think like that," Pragya replies softly. "I’m fine… my wounds don’t hurt at all."

Rhea shakes her head. "I’m not talking about these wounds," she says, touching Pragya’s hands. "I mean the ones in your heart. The ones I caused."

She hesitates for a moment before catching her ears in remorse. "I’m sorry, Auntie…"

Pragya’s face softens with a slight smile. "What do you mean?"

Rhea takes a deep breath before slowly revealing everything—her plan with Priyanka to defame Prachi.

Pragya's eyes widen in shock. Rhea, unable to hold back anymore, breaks down into tears. "You can punish me however you want, Auntie. You can even take my life! I deserve it for hurting you and Prachi…"

Pragya is shaken. This Priyanka is dangerous, she thinks. To get Rishi, she’s willing to go to any lengths—manipulating Rhea, harming Prachi… turning two sisters against each other. I have to warn him.

She kneels beside Rhea, placing a hand on her head. "Rhea, what you did was wrong… a crime no mother can forgive. But for me, you and Prachi are the same. And I believe that every sinner who truly repents deserves a second chance."

Hope flickers in Rhea’s tear-filled eyes. "Then… will I get another chance, Auntie?"

Pragya’s expression hardens slightly. "How can I?" she asks. "After everything you’ve done to my Prachi? Every parent loves their child with all their heart. But no parent can tolerate their child walking down the wrong path. And if they do, sometimes… they have no choice but to disown them."

Rhea flinches at the words. She musters the courage to ask, "So… did my mother disown me too? Did she hate me so much that she abandoned me at birth?"

Pragya freezes, her breath hitching. She has no answer. Her vision blurs with unshed tears.

Rhea lets out a bitter chuckle. "Never mind. Why am I even talking about a woman who never cared about me?" She wipes her face and looks at Pragya hesitantly. "Can I… ask you something?"

"What is it?"

Aliyah steps forward. "Rhea, come with me."

But Rhea ignores her. Looking directly into Pragya’s eyes, she asks, "You said Prachi and I are the same for you, right? So… can I call you Mamma from now on?"

Pragya is overwhelmed. You don’t need to ask, Rhea, she thinks, because you’ve always had that right. Tears streaming down her face, she pulls Rhea into a tight hug.

Aliyah watches, fuming in frustration.

Rhea clutches Pragya tightly. "So, will you give your daughter one last chance… Mamma?"

Pragya cups her face lovingly, kissing her forehead. "Yes, my child. But promise me something."

"Anything, Mamma."

"You will never hurt Prachi—or anyone else—intentionally again."

Rhea nods firmly. "I promise."

Aliyah interrupts. "Rhea, your dad is looking for you."

Rhea wipes her tears and walks toward Abhi. Aliyah turns to leave, but Pragya calls out.

"Wait, Aliyah!"

Aliyah stops but doesn’t turn.

"I know you poisoned my daughter's mind against me," Pragya says, voice sharp. "You told her I was a bad woman who ruined your life and abandoned her because I didn’t love her. But look at destiny, Aliyah. Without me saying a word, my child has returned to me."

Aliyah clenches her jaw.

Pragya steps forward. "You may have raised her, but I gave birth to her. And I will bring my daughter back to the right path. You couldn't stop her from seeking my love, and you won’t stop me from changing her."

With that, she walks away, leaving Aliyah fuming.

Later at the Guest House

Ranbir, lost in thought, recalls how he risked his life for Prachi. Abhi’s words echo in his mind: True love isn’t about beauty—it’s when someone else matters more to you than yourself.

Memories of Prachi flood him. His heart pounds.

"That means… I love—" He stops, breath hitching.

Stepping into the rain, he looks up at the sky and shouts, "I LOVE YOU, PRACHI!!!"

-------

To be continued.

So, Ranbir has finally realized his love for Prachi! Meanwhile, Pragya and Abhi continue to keep the truth about Rhea and Prachi a secret. Slowly, Rhea’s character will begin to transform.

Chapter 23:

So, guys, in the last chapter, we witnessed Ranbir’s realization of his love for Prachi. Now, let’s see how their love story unfolds from here.

Pragya and Shahana help Prachi enter the house, with Sarita Behen stopping them at the door. "Wait," she says, "Let me ward off the evil eye, so no more harm comes to Prachi." She performs the ritual before allowing them inside.

Relieved, Sarita Behen sighs, "It was truly God’s grace that we all survived that terrible fire. Thank God!"

Rishi reassures her, "Don't worry, Nani. When someone calls out to God with a sincere heart, He listens. That’s why we were saved."

Sarita Behen, Prachi, and Shahana smile, but Pragya remains lost in thought. I need to talk to Rishi about Priyanka. That girl is dangerous—she's capable of anything!

Pragya urges Shahana to take Prachi to rest and asks Sarita Behen to do the same after staying up all night. As they retire to their rooms, Pragya signals Rishi to follow her.

In Prachi and Shahana’s Room

As Shahana prepares the bed, she chats with Prachi. "You know, I was so worried about you. But Rishi helped me feel better."

Prachi, however, is lost in thought, replaying every moment with Ranbir—his constant concern for her, his protectiveness despite her scoldings, and, most importantly, how he risked his life to save her.

Noticing her distraction, Shahana teases, "Are you thinking about Ranbir?"

Without realizing it, Prachi softly replies, "Yes…"

Shahana bursts into laughter, making Prachi snap back to reality. Flustered, she protests, "It’s nothing like that!"

Shahana smirks. "Oh really? Then what is it?"

Prachi struggles to find an answer, her cheeks growing warm. Shahana grins. "You’re blushing! That only happens when—"

"Stop it!" Prachi interrupts. "I’m just grateful to him for saving my life."

"True," Shahana nods. "But for once, instead of giving him your usual lectures, maybe just thank him properly."

Prachi reflects for a moment. "You’re right. I’ve always misunderstood him and spoken rudely, but in reality… he’s a good person. I should express my gratitude sincerely."

Shahana clears her throat dramatically. "Wow, it’s raining today! Must be because someone has fallen for the very person she always claimed to hate!"

Blushing even more, Prachi smacks her playfully. "Shut up, Shahana!"

"Ouch!" Shahana winces.

Realizing she might have hurt her, Prachi quickly apologizes. "Are you okay? You were already injured in the fire. Did you put any medicine on it?"

"Yeah, thank goodness Rishi gave me some antiseptic cream…" Shahana trails off, recalling how Aryan had actually applied it for her. She smiles unconsciously.

Prachi notices and smirks. "Ohh… So someone is thinking about Rishi, huh?"

Shahana, startled, snaps out of her thoughts. "There’s nothing between me and Rishi! And don't you start making up stories like that psycho Priyanka!"

Rolling over, she huffs, "I’m going to sleep!" But as she closes her eyes, her thoughts drift back to Aryan. Why do I keep thinking about him? What are these feelings? Does he feel the same way?

Meanwhile, Prachi walks over to the window, watching the rain. Why am I so confused? Why can’t I stop thinking about Ranbir? Why does my heart race whenever I do?

Her eyes widen as the realization hits her. This only happens when…

"When someone is in love!" she whispers.

A wave of joy rushes through her, and she twirls in excitement. Stepping out into the rain, she lets the raindrops fall into her hands and splashes them on her face.

"I love Ranbir," she finally says, her voice filled with wonder. Romantic music swells in the background.

In the Hall

Pragya paces back and forth, her face tense with worry.

Rishi notices. "Maasi, what’s wrong?"

Pragya stops. "We need to expose Priyanka’s motives as soon as possible, Rishi!"

He frowns. "Did she do something again?"

Pragya recounts everything Rhea told her. Rishi listens in shock.

"I’m sure Priyanka wasn’t just helping Rhea take revenge on Prachi," Pragya continues. "She wants to provoke me by harming Prachi—she’s trying to force me to stop helping you!"

Rishi sighs. "I know, Maasi. Her obsession has reached a dangerous level. She’ll go to any extent to get what she wants. I’m sorry you’re being dragged into all this because of me."

Pragya places a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "We have to prove your innocence to Mr. Mehra. If he realizes the truth, he won’t support Priyanka anymore."

Rishi nods, determined.

The Next Morning – In Abhi’s Guest House

Dasi enters Abhi’s room and finds him dressed for work. Surprised, she asks, "Why are you going to the office today, after everything that happened?"

Abhi sighs. "Dasi, we have two major events coming up—the Fashion Show and the International Concert. I need to make sure everything is in place; otherwise, the company will suffer a huge loss."

Dasi watches him sadly. "And what about the huge loss in your life, Abhi? Why didn’t you bring your Sita back when you finally reunited with her?"

Her words hit Abhi hard. He controls his emotions and forces a small smile. "Dasi, right now, Rhea hates her mother, and Prachi resents her father. If we tell them the truth now, they won’t be able to handle it. We’re just waiting for the right moment."

He quickly leaves, hiding his pain, but Dasi sees through him. I know how much you miss Pragya, Abhi. You may hide it from the world, but not from me. Tears well up in her eyes.

Downstairs – In the Dining Hall

Everyone is gathered for breakfast when Ranbir enters, fully dressed.

Pallavi looks at him, puzzled. "Ranbir, where are you going?"

"To the office," he replies casually.

Shocked, Beeji scolds, "You’re still injured! Why would you go to work?"

Ranbir insists, "The Fashion Show and the International Concert are coming up! I have to be there!"

Vikram frowns. "You’re not the only employee, Ranbir. The company won’t collapse if you rest for a few days!"

"But Dad—"

Abhi cuts him off firmly. "You’re not going."

Ranbir sighs in frustration. If I don’t go, how will I see Prachi and tell her how I feel? Oh God!

------

To be continued.

So, Prachi has finally realized her love for Ranbir! To all Pranbir fans, get ready—there’s a proposal scene coming soon! Stay tuned and keep reading!

Chapter 24:

Ranbir's Plan and Shahana's Dilemma

Ranbir was restless, clearly unhappy with Abhi's decision to keep him at home and force him to rest. Aryan walked in, smirking.

"Why are you so desperate to go to the office in this condition?" he teased. "Dying to meet Prachi, huh?"

Ranbir rolled his eyes, annoyed. Aryan chuckled but changed the topic. "Anyway, I'm heading to college. Need anything?"

Before Ranbir could respond, Mishti approached Aryan. "Can you drop me at college?"

Aryan was about to agree when Ranbir, suddenly struck with an idea, interrupted. "No, Mishti. You can go with your friends. I have some urgent work with Aryan."

Mishti frowned in disappointment and left. Aryan narrowed his eyes. "Okay, what do you want now?"

Ranbir grinned mischievously. "Go to Prachi’s house and deliver a message from me. Just pretend you're there to hand over a file."

Aryan huffed. "Have you made me your personal delivery boy?" He was about to refuse but suddenly thought of Shahana. If I go there, I'll get to see her too…

Ranbir snapped his fingers. "What? Are you in or not?"

Aryan smirked. "Fine. Hand me the file."

At Pragya’s House

Prachi and Rishi were getting ready to leave for work when Sarita Behen walked up to them, concerned.

"Prachi, you were unwell yesterday. Why are you rushing to the office today?"

Prachi smiled. "Auntie, there's a lot of work pending. I need to go and get it done."

Shahana nudged her shoulder with a teasing smirk. "Or maybe someone just wants to meet Ranbir?"

Prachi blushed. "Stop it, Shahana!"

Pragya turned to Shahana. "And what about you? Don’t you have college?"

Shahana clutched her arm dramatically. "Maasi, look at these bruises. How will I travel alone in the bus?"

Prachi leaned closer and whispered, "Madam just wants an excuse to skip college!"

Rishi offered, "Shall I drop you, Shahana?"

Prachi cleared her throat loudly. "Oh! So this is why Madam is creating a scene—to get a ride from Rishi?"

Shahana turned red with embarrassment.

Just then, Aryan arrived, greeting Pragya and Sarita Behen before turning to Shahana. "I heard you don’t want to go to college because of your bruises. I’m heading there, so I can drop you."

Shahana’s face lit up. Pragya nodded approvingly. "That works. Aryan can take you while Rishi leaves for his office."

Rishi looked visibly disappointed.

Sarita Behen frowned. "Pragya, are you sure about this? This is the same boy who caused Shahana’s accident last time with his reckless driving."

Aryan and Shahana’s smiles faded.

Pragya defended him. "Humans make mistakes, but they learn from them. Aryan will be extra careful this time—especially since he's responsible for Shahana. Right, Aryan?"

Aryan nodded earnestly. "Yes, Auntie. I won’t let anything happen to her again."

Sarita Behen sighed. "Fine. Do as you wish."

Meanwhile, Shahana turned to Prachi. "You still haven’t given me a Diwali gift! I got you a beautiful pair of jhumkas, remember?"

Both Aryan and Rishi watched the conversation closely.

Prachi smiled. "Fine, I’ll get you something special—something that’ll make you look even prettier."

Shahana blushed.

"Now, will you let me leave for work?" Prachi asked playfully. "And you—get ready for college!"

As Shahana left for her room, Aryan handed Prachi the file. Leaning in, he whispered, "Ranbir left a message for you. Read it."

Prachi’s eyes widened as she took the file, flipping it open to find Ranbir’s note inside. She nodded slightly and walked away.

Rishi, watching them, clenched his jaw.

A Plan for Shahana?

As Rishi was leaving, Sarita Behen called after him, "Rishi! You forgot your lunch!" But he was already gone.

Shahana, now dressed beautifully, picked up the lunchbox. "Don’t worry, Sarita Auntie. I’ll give it to him on my way to college."

Pragya and Sarita Behen exchanged surprised looks, while Aryan stared at her, mesmerized.

Pragya raised an eyebrow. "Why are you so dressed up today? Is there a special event at college?"

Sarita Behen smirked. "Or maybe she wants to impress someone?"

Aryan and Shahana glanced at each other, blushing.

Shahana quickly brushed it off. "Oh ho! Why are you both acting like detectives? There's nothing like that! Can I go now?"

Pragya chuckled. "Fine. Take care."

As Aryan and Shahana left together, Sarita Behen turned to Pragya. "I hope she doesn’t have feelings for someone else. I was thinking of asking for her hand in marriage for Rishi."

Pragya was taken aback. "But she’s still young! She hasn’t even finished her studies!"

Sarita Behen waved it off. "That doesn't matter. She can continue her studies after marriage. I just feel she would be a perfect match for Rishi—unlike that Priyanka. Think about it."

Pragya looked on thoughtfully.

On the Road

Aryan revved up his bike. "Hold on tight. You’re already hurt, and I don’t want you getting injured again."

Shahana hesitated for a moment before wrapping her arms around his waist. Aryan smiled, watching her through the rearview mirror.

As they rode, he casually asked, "So, what do you like to wear the most?"

Shahana frowned. "What kind of question is that? Obviously, clothes!"

Aryan rolled his eyes. "No, I mean accessories."

Shahana thought for a moment. "I like things that make a sound—something that lets people know you’re around."

Aryan smirked. Accessories that make sound, huh? I need to remember that.

They stopped in front of Fusion Beats, where Sunny had just arrived. Seeing Aryan and Shahana together, he grinned.

"Well, well, my little brother's love story is shaping up nicely," he muttered to himself. "Time to move forward with my plan."

At Fusion Beats

Inside, Shahana found Rishi and handed him the lunchbox. "Rishi, you’re so careless! You forgot your lunch, and Sarita Auntie was worried!"

Prachi and Sunny, standing nearby, noticed them.

Prachi smirked. "Wow, Shahana. You’re already taking care of Rishi like a wife—before even getting married!"

Shahana turned red. "Prachi, focus on your own love life before poking into mine!"

Prachi suddenly remembered Ranbir’s message. She quickly excused herself to read it.

Rishi looked at Shahana. "So, what can I do to return the favor, Madam?"

Shahana scoffed. "Just eat your lunch properly. Bye!"

As she walked away, Rishi smiled to himself. This time, I’ll get her something she’ll love to wear.

Sunny watched the exchange and smirked. "Looks like I won’t have to work too hard on my plan after all."

Just then, a staff member approached Rishi.

"Rishi, weren’t you at Mr. Mehra’s party when the fire accident happened?"

Sunny’s expression changed as he overheard.

Chapter 25

Sunny’s Dilemma

Sunny was startled when he heard about the fire accident at Mehra Mansion. His first instinct was to check on Abhi and Purab. Worried, he hurried towards their cabins, but before he could reach them, he saw them walking together from the opposite side.

With concern evident on his face, he stepped forward. “Sir, are you both alright? You weren’t hurt in the fire accident, were you?”

Abhi and Purab exchanged surprised glances at his worry.

Abhi chuckled, “We’re absolutely fine! Fit as horses!”

Purab smiled, adding, “It’s good to see such concern from our staff. After all, we are like family to you, aren’t we?”

At that moment, reality struck Sunny. His expression shifted as he realized what he had just said. Quickly composing himself, he muttered, “Sorry, sir… I think I got a little carried away.”

Abhi waved it off casually. “Come on, man! Excitement is necessary to do good work. I expect to see more of this energy for our upcoming events—the Fashion Show and the International Concert. These are crucial for our company.”

Sunny nodded in agreement, forcing a polite smile as they walked away.

Returning to his desk, he clenched his fists, his mind raging with conflicting emotions. What are you doing, Sunny? That man—Purab Khanna—is NOT your family! Then why do you care if he burns in a fire or drowns in water? Why should it matter to you? His anger boiled over, and in frustration, he slammed his fist onto the desk. Blood trickled from his knuckles, but he paid no heed.

Prachi’s Narrow Escape

At her desk, Prachi was frantically searching for the file containing Ranbir’s message. A wave of panic hit her. Where did I put it? She turned to a colleague and asked, “Did you see a file here?”

“Oh, that one? I sent it to Vikram Sir’s office.”

Prachi’s eyes widened in horror. “WHAT?!” She smacked her forehead. Now how am I going to get it back?

Taking a deep breath, she slipped into Vikram’s cabin, where he was absorbed in another file. Spotting hers underneath it, she mustered her best innocent smile.

“Good morning, sir!” she greeted cheerfully.

Vikram looked up and smiled. “Good morning, Prachi! What brings you here?”

Feigning nervousness, she said, “Sir, I wanted to apologize… because of me, Ranbir got hurt really badly.”

Vikram raised an eyebrow. “Now that’s interesting! This is the first time I’m hearing something nice about Ranbir from you.”

Prachi forced a chuckle. “Well, actually, this time Ranbir—” Suddenly, she gasped and pointed behind him. “Oh my God, sir! Look over there!”

Startled, Vikram turned around to check. Seizing the opportunity, Prachi swiftly pulled out the paper with Ranbir’s message and hid it behind her.

When Vikram turned back, he frowned. “What was it?”

She quickly covered, “Oh, nothing, sir! I thought I saw a weird insect.” She continued, “I was just saying that Ranbir really saved my life. If he hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t be standing here today.”

Vikram’s expression softened. “Prachi, I’m not saying this just because he’s my son, but Ranbir… he may act like a mischievous troublemaker, but deep down, he has a kind heart.”

Prachi nodded with a small smile and excused herself.

As she walked out, she exhaled in relief. “That was close!” Quickly unfolding the paper, she read Ranbir’s message:

"Meet me tonight at midnight… on your terrace."

Her eyes widened. Midnight?! What does he want to talk about at such an odd hour? She shook her head. “This guy is completely crazy.”

Tanu and Nikhil’s Return

At Delhi Railway Station, Tanu stepped off the train with Nikhil and his family. Nikhil turned to her and asked skeptically, “Are you sure she’s here?”

Tanu shot him a sharp look. “Shut up! All of this is happening because of you! Who asked you to—” She stopped mid-sentence, visibly disgusted. Regaining her composure, she muttered, “We have to find her before she reaches Abhi or Pragya. I know she’s here. After all, she’s Pragya’s daughter. She won’t stay quiet. She’ll fight for justice.”

Rakhi’s Decision

At a convent in Vasant Vihar, Rakhi sat on her bed, heartbroken and lost in thought. Tears welled in her eyes as she pondered over her cruel fate.

The superior nun approached her gently. “What do you want to do about your future? Do you wish to keep the child or…?”

Rakhi’s eyes widened in shock. “What fault is it of my child? The sin was committed by me and his father. Why should I punish an innocent life?” She wiped her tears and continued with renewed determination. “I will bring this child into the world… and I will make him strong—so strong that no struggle, no abuse, no injustice can break him.”

The nun smiled at her courage. “You are a brave girl. If your mother saw you today, she would be so proud. You are her reflection.”

Rakhi lowered her gaze, sorrow evident in her eyes. My mother will never be proud of me…

Rhea’s Change of Heart

At Mehra Mansion, Priyanka stormed into Rhea’s room. “Since our plan failed because of the fire accident, what’s next? What are you planning now?”

Rhea turned to her with a firm look. “Nothing.”

Priyanka frowned. “What do you mean?”

“I’m done playing these evil games with Prachi. I don’t want to harm her or anyone else.”

Priyanka was stunned. “What?! Don’t you want revenge?”

Rhea’s thoughts drifted to Pragya’s comforting words. She shook her head. “No. Because Mamma doesn’t want me to hurt anyone.”

Priyanka scoffed. “Mamma?! You hate your mother, don’t you?”

Rhea’s lips curled into a small smile. “Yes… I hate the woman who gave birth to me. But Pragya Aunty… she treated me like her own daughter. She made me feel what a mother’s love is like. From now on, she is my Mamma.”

Priyanka’s face contorted in fury. “Ugh! That Pragya always ruins my plans! If you won’t hurt Prachi, then I’ll do it myself.”

Rhea ignored her and walked out, leaving Priyanka fuming.

Ranbir’s Confession

In Ranbir’s room, Aryan found him grinning at the wall. “What’s up? Have you started flirting with walls now?”

Ranbir snapped out of his trance. “Stop it, Prachi! Why do you always think I’m flirting?”

Aryan’s eyes widened. “Dude… I’m not Prachi.”

Ranbir froze, realization dawning on him. He coughed awkwardly. “Oh… so what? You were talking like her.”

Aryan sat beside him. “I’ve never seen you this nervous before. What’s going on?”

Ranbir took a deep breath, then looked Aryan straight in the eye.

“I love Prachi.”

Aryan stared at him in shock.

RANBIR'S REALISATION OF RHEA'S EVIL TACTICS AGAINST PRACHI

Ranbir's Realization and Aryan’s Shock

Aryan, in utter disbelief, stares at Ranbir. “What did you just say?”

Ranbir takes a deep breath, steadying himself. “You heard me, Aryan. I love Prachi.”

Aryan still looks baffled. “Hold on a second! All this time, you were so desperate to make Rhea your girlfriend. And now, out of nowhere, you’re saying you have feelings for Prachi? What’s going on?”

Ranbir remains silent for a few moments, as if searching for the right words. Finally, he exhales sharply. “You’re right. At first, I was drawn to Rhea—her beauty, her popularity. I wanted a girlfriend like her. Do you remember how many times I tried to propose to her? At the nature camp, on her birthday… I was so fixated on her that I didn’t see what was right in front of me. But then… I finally got my chance.”

Aryan’s eyes widen in surprise. “Wait—you actually proposed to Rhea?”

Ranbir nods. “Yes. And believe me, I would’ve been with her today—if she had just said a simple ‘yes.’ But instead, she pushed me toward Prachi. She made me fall for Prachi without even realizing it.”

Aryan is stunned. “What?! What are you saying?”

Ranbir clenches his jaw. “On my birthday, I gathered all my courage and confessed my feelings to Rhea. But instead of accepting, she…” He hesitates before continuing, his voice filled with anger and regret. “She told me to break Prachi’s heart first. Only then would she consider being with me.”

Aryan is left speechless, disgusted by Rhea’s manipulative nature. And then, as if struck by a realization, his mind flashes back to the drug deal scam. He remembers overhearing Rhea confessing to his mother about her involvement in framing Prachi. A wave of disappointment washes over him, and his eyes glisten with unshed tears.

“How could Rhea do this?” he thinks, his heart heavy. “She’s my sister—Abhi Mamu’s daughter. He isn’t like this at all. Is it because… her mother is like that?”

Ranbir notices Aryan’s turmoil and frowns. “Aryan? What happened? Are you upset because I didn’t tell you earlier? Look, I swear, I wasn’t thinking straight back then. We’ve been best friends for so long—you’re more than a brother to me. I’ve never hidden anything from you. But that time… I don’t know what came over me. I was blinded by this obsession with Rhea. I made mistakes—terrible mistakes. But my bhagya (fate) had other plans. My wrong choices led me to discover what true love really means.”

Aryan still seems lost in thought, his expression unreadable. Ranbir shifts uneasily. “Bro, say something. I know I messed up, but don’t punish me with your silence. That hurts more than anything. If you’re angry, hit me, yell at me—just don’t ignore me.”

Aryan finally gives a small, sad smile. “Dude… I’m just glad you realized your mistakes. And I’m even happier that you found your true love—who, by the way, is also my favorite Prachi.”

Ranbir’s face lights up, and without thinking, he pulls Aryan into a tight hug.

But as they break apart, Aryan’s expression darkens again. “But what about my sister, Ranbir? Do you really think this was Rhea’s first and last attempt to hurt Prachi?”

Ranbir frowns. “What do you mean?”

Aryan’s voice is grave. “Do you remember the drug deal scam? When you and Prachi were arrested?”

Ranbir nods. “Yeah… why?”

Aryan inhales sharply. “It was all Rhea. She orchestrated the entire thing to defame Prachi in front of Abhi Mamu.”

Ranbir’s eyes widen in shock. “WHAT?!” He stumbles back as the truth crashes over him. One by one, the memories resurface—how Prachi was falsely accused, how his parents and chief fought for their innocence, how Pragya and Prachi suffered. And all of it… because of Rhea.

Ranbir clenches his fists so tightly that his knuckles turn white. “She did all that… just to hurt Prachi?”

Aryan nods solemnly. “And if she was capable of that before, who knows what she’ll do next?”

Ranbir grabs Aryan’s collar in a sudden burst of fury. “I won’t let anything happen to Prachi! I risked my life to save her from the fire. And I’ll do it again—no matter how many times it takes! I won’t let anyone harm her.”

Realizing what he just did, Ranbir quickly releases Aryan and steps back. “I… I’m sorry, bro. I didn’t mean to—”

Aryan places a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “I get it. But you need to stay cautious. Rhea can go to any lengths to get what she wants.”

A thought suddenly strikes Aryan, and his eyes widen. “Wait… Ranbir, remember Diwali night? You found Prachi unconscious in Priyanka’s room, right?”

Ranbir’s brows furrow. “Yeah… why?”

Aryan’s voice turns serious. “What if… Rhea had something to do with that too?”

Before he can finish, Ranbir turns and punches the glass window in frustration. It shatters, and his hand begins to bleed.

DLF Emporio Mall

At a luxury shopping mall, Sunny meets Priyanka. She smirks, crossing her arms. “So? What news do you have for me?”

Sunny responds casually, “Shahana came to deliver Rishi’s tiffin today.”

Priyanka’s face hardens. “And?”

Sunny shrugs. “It looked like Rishi is growing closer to her, but—”

Before he can complete his sentence, Priyanka slaps him hard across the face. She grabs his collar, her eyes burning with rage. “Rishi is mine! Do you understand?! Only mine!

Without another word, she storms off, leaving a stunned but amused Sunny behind. He watches her go and smirks to himself. What a crazy woman. She thinks she’s using me, but the truth is—I’m the one using her.

Mehra Mansion

Back in Ranbir’s room, Aryan anxiously bandages Ranbir’s bleeding hand. “Dude, you seriously need to control your anger. Breaking glass won’t solve anything.”

Ranbir remains silent, staring blankly ahead.

Aryan sighs. “Look, you need to talk to Prachi. Tell her everything—about Rhea, about your feelings, about everything that’s happened so far.”

Ranbir’s gaze flickers. He remembers the note in his pocket—the message from Prachi. He was supposed to meet her at midnight.

His heart pounds. “Yes… I’ll tell her everything tonight.”

To be continued.

Guys I know all of you are waiting impatiently for the meeting, but you'll have a little more!!!

Chapter 27

Ranbir's Midnight Confession

On the Terrace

Ranbir glances at his watch, his breath visible in the cold night air. “Just five more minutes until midnight… I hope you come, Prachi. I have so much to tell you.” His voice carries a mix of anticipation and desperation.

Inside Pragya’s House

The house is quiet, wrapped in the stillness of the night. Everyone is fast asleep—except for Prachi and Shahana.

Shahana chatters endlessly, completely unaware of Prachi’s impatience. Prachi, on the other hand, keeps stealing glances at the clock. Ranbir asked me to meet him on the terrace at midnight… Winter has begun in Delhi, and it’s freezing outside. I hope he’s okay. But how am I supposed to leave while this Shahana won’t stop talking?

Upstairs

Ranbir sneezes—twice. He rubs his arms in a futile attempt to warm himself. “Damn, it’s freezing! And I forgot my jacket… Why isn’t Prachi here yet?”

In Prachi and Shahana’s Room

Shahana, completely oblivious to Prachi’s turmoil, admires a bracelet on her wrist. “Wow! This is beautiful! And it matches yours perfectly. Now, everyone will know we are BSF.”

Prachi raises a brow. “BSF?”

Shahana grins. “Best Sisters Forever! Thank you for this amazing Diwali gift, Prachi!”

Prachi forces a smile. “Now can we sleep? It’s already past midnight.” She reaches for the night lamp, ready to turn it off, but Shahana stops her.

“Wait, Prachi! Tell me—how is your love story progressing?”

Prachi rolls her eyes, That’s exactly why I want you to sleep, you chatterbox!

Shahana nudges her. “Come on, tell me! Did you meet Ranbir? Did you both talk properly? Did you apologize? And most importantly, did you at least thank him for risking his life to save you from the fire?”

Prachi groans. “STOP!”

Their loud voices disturb Sarita Behen, who stirs in her sleep and grumbles, “Prachi! Shahana! Why are you two still awake?”

Shahana immediately buries herself under the blanket, pretending to sleep.

Sarita Behen sighs. “If you’re awake anyway, at least make yourselves useful. My legs are aching from the cold. Someone come press them.”

Prachi glares at Shahana, who remains tucked under the covers. This is all because of you, Shahana! With no choice left, she sighs and goes to help Sarita Behen, casting one last look at the foggy night outside the window.

On the Terrace

Ranbir shivers, his lips trembling. His voice wavers, but his determination remains intact. “I’ll freeze to death if I have to, but I won’t leave until Prachi comes.”

Time Passes…

Prachi continues massaging Sarita Behen’s legs, her eyes darting to the clock anxiously. Minutes turn into hours—half-past one… then two… and still, she remains stuck. Worry gnaws at her.

Finally, Sarita Behen drifts off to sleep. Prachi exhales in relief, tiptoes back to her room, and carefully opens the cupboard. She takes out two woolen shawls—one for herself and one for Ranbir.

Wrapping herself in one, she quietly steps out, braving the cold as she ascends the stairs to the terrace.

But when she reaches the top, her heart sinks—Ranbir is nowhere to be seen.

He must have left after waiting for so long… she thinks, disappointment flashing across her face. She turns to leave when, out of the corner of her eye, she spots a shivering figure huddled in a corner of the terrace.

Her breath catches. Ranbir!

On the Terrace—A Moment of Concern and Love

Rushing toward him, she kneels beside him, her voice laced with panic. “Ranbir! Have you lost your mind? Who asked you to sit here in this freezing cold without any protection?”

She helps him up, rubbing his arms to generate some warmth. “Come inside. You need something warm immediately. You’re already recovering from burns—you’ll fall sick like this.”

Ranbir, still shivering, gently holds her hand. “Prachi… I need to talk to you first.”

Prachi shakes her head firmly. “Not now, Ranbir. First, we’re getting you inside.”

Before she can pull him along, Ranbir tightens his grip, causing her to lose her balance and land against his chest. Her hands instinctively clutch his shoulders. Their eyes lock, the intensity between them heightened by the chilly night air.

A soft romantic melody plays in the background as Ranbir leans closer, his breath mingling with hers. His gaze drops to her lips, inching closer—

But just before he can close the distance, Prachi averts her face, her cheeks burning despite the cold.

Ranbir smiles softly, pulling her into a warm embrace. In a hushed yet firm voice, he whispers, “I love you, Prachi.”

Prachi’s eyes widen. The weight of those three words makes her heart pound. She looks up, captivated by the sincerity in his eyes.

The Truth Unveiled

Ranbir slowly steps back, still holding her hand. “Prachi… I didn’t fall in love with you just like that. It was all part of Rhea’s plan.”

Prachi frowns, confusion and apprehension flickering across her face.

Ranbir takes a deep breath and continues, his voice filled with regret. “She set everything up—she made me woo you, made sure you fell for me, only so I could break your heart in the end.”

Prachi staggers back, her lips trembling. Tears well up in her eyes as she struggles to process his words.

Ranbir gently wipes her tears. “That’s not all, Prachi. Rhea was the one behind your arrest in the drugs scam. And me and Aryan… we suspect she was also involved in whatever happened to you that night in Priyanka’s room.”

A sudden realization dawns upon Prachi. She remembers the horror of that night—Sanju’s presence, the way he tried to force himself on her. Her fists clench in fury.

Ranbir, his eyes filled with remorse, continues, “Maybe it was my bhagya (fate) that I fell in love with you this way. I didn’t know when or how… but I do know this—I love you, Prachi. I love you more than anything in this world. I can fight anyone for you. I can even sacrifice my life for you.”

The next moment, a sharp slap echoes through the night.

Ranbir stares in shock as Prachi, her eyes brimming with tears, whispers, “I suppose you said the same things to Rhea when you agreed to play such a cheap trick on me?”

Ranbir immediately shakes his head. “No, Prachi! I know I started on the wrong path, but please believe me—I have realized what true love is. And it’s you! Only you.”

Prachi turns to leave, her heart aching. But Ranbir, desperate, takes both of her hands and cups them in his. “Trust me, Prachi. Everything I’m saying comes straight from my heart.”

She jerks her hands away and rushes down the stairs, unable to bear it any longer.

Ranbir’s Ultimate Test

As she disappears inside, Ranbir clenches his jaw. His voice rings out into the night, filled with determination.

“Fine, Prachi! If you don’t trust me now, then I will wait here, in this freezing cold, without your useless shawl—” he tosses it aside “—until you come back and tell me that you trust me!”

Prachi stops in her tracks at his words, her chest heaving. Tears roll down her cheeks, but she doesn’t turn back. Instead, she hurries to her room, checks if Shahana is asleep, and buries herself into her pillow, clutching it tightly against her heart.

Meanwhile, outside, Ranbir stands in the cold, his breath forming small clouds of mist as he waits.

Chapter 28

The Confession and the Unfolding Love Story

In the previous chapter, you all witnessed Ranbir’s heartfelt confession to Prachi. Now, let's see how Pranbir’s love story unfolds.

Prachi’s Dilemma

Prachi glanced at the clock—4:30 AM. A wave of concern washed over her as she thought about Ranbir, who was still on the terrace, braving the freezing cold. His hands had turned blue, his lips were cracked, and his eyes were swollen with exhaustion. The sight of him suffering flashed in her mind, and she instinctively got up to check on him.

She slipped on her slippers and was about to leave when Ranbir’s words echoed in her head—how he had initially teamed up with Rhea to play with her feelings, to win her trust, only to shatter her heart later. Her fists clenched, and anger surged within her. She froze in her steps.

"Why should I care? Why does he even matter to me? He means nothing to me!" she muttered before throwing herself back onto the bed, forcing her eyes shut.

Two hours passed, but sleep continued to evade her. She tossed and turned, unable to push aside the growing worry gnawing at her. At 6:30 AM, she finally gave in. "I usually wake up at this time, and everyone else will wake up by seven. Let me just check on Ranbir before anyone notices."

On the Terrace

With quiet steps, Prachi made her way upstairs. She pressed her palm against her chest and whispered a silent prayer, "I hope he's okay."

As she reached the terrace, her heart nearly stopped. Ranbir sat huddled in the corner, his body motionless, his face devoid of color after enduring the biting cold for hours.

"Ranbir!" she gasped, sprinting towards him. The moment she reached him, her emotions burst forth, and she began hitting him in frustration.

"Why are you doing this? Why are you torturing yourself? And why are you torturing me too?!" she cried, landing punch after punch on his chest.

Ranbir caught her wrists, stopping her. His weary eyes met hers as he asked softly, "Why does it bother you so much to see me in pain?"

Without thinking, she shouted, "Because I LOVE YOU, YOU DUMBO!"

Her words echoed in the cold morning air. Ranbir’s pale face lit up with astonishment, and then, slowly, a joyous smile spread across his lips. He reached out, cupping her cheeks gently.

"What did you just say?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Prachi leaned forward, resting her forehead against his. "You're a fool, a flirt, and an absolute jerk, but still... I LOVE YOU. Because deep in my heart, I know that you are a good person."

Her voice trembled as she admitted, "I love you, Ranbir."

Ranbir let out a shaky laugh before pulling her into a tight embrace. "I can’t believe it, Prachi! When I realized my love for you, I never thought you’d ever feel the same. But today, I feel like the luckiest man on earth!"

His words were filled with so much emotion that they melted the last of her resistance. He pressed a soft kiss on her forehead, then on each of her cheeks, then on her closed eyelids. As he slowly moved toward her lips, Prachi gently placed a hand over them, stopping him.

"Ranbir, I need you to promise me something."

He looked at her with earnest curiosity. "What is it, Prachi?"

She took a deep breath. "After you told me about your deal with Rhea, I was heartbroken. I couldn’t believe that you would betray me like that. I lost all trust in you. But even after all of that, I couldn’t stop thinking about you the whole night. I kept hoping you’d come to your senses and leave. But when I saw you here this morning, my heart gave in. Because true love... it just happens, Ranbir. It comes from the heart, beyond our control."

Her voice wavered as she continued, "I want to trust you again. But I need you to promise me... that you will never break my trust again."

Ranbir held her hands in his, looking into her eyes with absolute sincerity. "Prachi, I never truly understood love before. I always thought I loved Rhea. But now, I know that love is not just a feeling—it’s the inability to imagine a life without someone. I swear, Prachi, I will never break your trust again."

Prachi’s heart warmed at his words, but then, a thought struck her. "What about Rhea?" she asked hesitantly.

Ranbir sighed. "For now, I’ll try to keep her away from you. But soon, I will tell her the truth about us. I just don’t want her to do anything that could hurt you."

Prachi nodded. "Don't worry about me. I’ve faced enough hardships on my own. And now, I have you with me. The sooner you tell her, the better. Before she develops stronger feelings for you."

Ranbir looked at her, admiring her strength. He knew the road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but for Prachi, he was ready to face anything.

At Abhi’s Guest House

Meanwhile, at Abhi’s guest house, Aryan approached his father, Purab, and cleared his throat.

"Dad?"

Purab, busy with work, glanced at him. "What do you want, Aryan?"

Aryan scratched the back of his head nervously. "I, uh... I need some advice."

Purab raised an eyebrow. "About?"

Aryan hesitated before blurting out, "What kind of jewelry do you usually gift Mom to make her happy?"

Purab nearly dropped his pen. "What?!"

Aryan, unfazed, continued, "What type of jewelry does Mom like—especially the ones that make noise?"

Purab sighed. "The only sound your mother enjoys is her own complaints, lectures, and rants about middle-class people."

Aryan rolled his eyes. "Dad, stop complaining about her! Just tell me about the jewelry!"

Purab's mind drifted back to his past—to Bulbul and Disha. He remembered gifting Bulbul a pair of silver anklets, which had been returned to him by the doctor when she was taken into surgery after the chandelier accident. After she was gone, those anklets became one of his most treasured memories. Later, when he fell in love with Disha, he gifted her the same anklets. She had cherished them as if they were a part of her soul. But now, she too had left him, leaving behind only bittersweet memories.

Lost in thought, Purab murmured, "Silver anklets."

"Huh?" Aryan asked.

Purab snapped back to reality. "Most women love silver anklets. They make a soft tinkling sound wherever they go."

Aryan grinned. "Silver anklets... Now, I just need to find them!"

Just then, Aliyah entered the room. Her eyes darted between them suspiciously. "What’s going on here? Why are you two talking about SILVER ANKLETS? How... middle-class."

Purab smirked and whispered to Aryan, "See? Told you so."

Aliyah frowned. "What was that, Purab?"

Trying to divert her attention, Purab smirked. "Looks like your son has a girlfriend."

Aryan shot him a glare. "Nothing like that, Mom! I was just asking Dad about what gifts make you happy!" He chuckled nervously before checking his watch. "Oh no, I’m late for college. Bye, Mom! Bye, Dad!" He bolted out of the room.

Aliyah narrowed her eyes, deep in thought. "Why would Aryan ask about jewelry? Was it really just a casual question, or… is there someone in his life?"

Her expression darkened. "If there is, I just hope she isn’t some cheap middle-class girl. I need to find out."

She stood there, her mind already brewing plans.

Chapter 29

In the previous chapter, Pranbir's love story saw significant progress. Consequently, their characters will gradually take a backseat in my fanfiction, as the focus shifts more towards Arhana, Abhigya, Sunny, Kiara, Rishi, Priyanka, and to a certain extent, Mishti. While Ranbir, Prachi, and Rhea will remain part of the narrative, their roles will be more secondary.

On Prachi's flat terrace, Prachi and Ranbir share a moment. Ranbir says, "I know how to handle Rhea, Prachi! But let's not focus on her now; let's focus on us." As he leans in to kiss her, Prachi covers his mouth, saying, "Then you better get back home first. Before anyone in my family, especially Shahana, sees you. Freshen up and get some rest!" Ranbir frowns and protests, "But Prachi, I want to spend time with you!" Prachi rises and starts walking away. Ranbir calls out, "Prachi!" Without turning back, she replies with a smile, "Come in the evening with Aryan to help me with the fashion show event!" Ranbir grins and departs happily.

At Abhi's Guest House

Aliyah paces the room, thinking about Aryan. "If there's any woman in my son's life, I need to find her before he follows Purab's footsteps and falls for some middle-class woman," she mutters. Suddenly, an idea strikes her. "Since Aryan and Rhea study at the same college, she should know if there's someone in Aryan's life!"

Aliyah heads to Rhea's room and finds her getting dressed for college. "What is it, Booji?" Rhea asks. Aliyah eyes her thoughtfully, "I've noticed you've been dressing better and better lately. Who are you trying to impress?" Rhea blushes, thinking about Ranbir. Aliyah smirks, "Oh, someone special, huh? I hope you've chosen someone from our class!"

Rhea replies, "Don't worry, Booji. You know him well; he's practically family." Aliyah presses further, "Now I'm curious! Who is it?" Rhea, still blushing, says, "Not now, Booji. I'll introduce him when the time is right." Aliyah agrees but continues, "Rhea, I need to ask you something else. Do you know any woman Aryan is interested in?"

Rhea recalls Dimpy's old crush on Aryan and her own warning to stay away from him. Then she remembers Dimpy and Shaina gossiping about Shahana's feelings for Aryan and her own observations during the Diwali party. "Rhea? Why are you lost?" Aliyah questions.

Rhea replies cautiously, "Actually, Booji, Dimpy used to like Aryan, but I warned her off, and she backed away. But..." Aliyah presses, "But what?" Rhea, remembering her promise to Pragya, decides to stay truthful. "Booji, I think Shahana likes Aryan."

"Shahana? Who's that?" Aliyah demands. "Prachi's younger sister," Rhea reveals. Aliyah freezes in shock. Rhea continues, "I don't know much, but I overheard Dimpy and Shaina. Plus, during the Diwali party, I noticed Shahana's eyes glimmering whenever she saw Aryan."

Aliyah seethes internally. "Pragya, you always ruin my life. First Bulbul and Disha tried to steal Purab, and now you're using your daughter against my son! I won't let it happen!" Masking her frustration, Aliyah tells Rhea, "I'm fine! Let's go have breakfast."

At Ranbir's Room

Ranbir sneaks back into his room through the window without anyone noticing. Freshened up, he stands before the mirror, lost in memories of Prachi's love confession. Absentmindedly, he sprays his perfume repeatedly. Aryan enters, places a hand on his shoulder, and Ranbir, startled, turns and kisses Aryan on the cheek, blurting out, "I love you, Prachi!"

Both freeze in embarrassment. "Eww! Have you lost it, Ranbir? I'm Aryan Khanna, not Prachi Arora!" Aryan shouts.

Ranbir scolds back, "Who asked you to come in now?!" Aryan quickly realizes the truth behind Ranbir's dazed state and smirks, "So, you finally told Prachi, huh?" Ranbir beams proudly, "Yes, and she said she loves me too!" Aryan is stunned. "What?!"

Ranbir recounts his romantic moment with Prachi when Beeji calls him down for breakfast. "Now I feel like I’ve won the greatest treasure in the world," Ranbir gushes. "Oh, and don't try dodging Shahana this evening. We're going to Prachi's house to help with the fashion show." Ranbir leaves, while Aryan mumbles to himself, "I'm so happy for you, bro... Now, I just need to find silver anklets."

At Pragya's House

In Prachi and Shahana's room, Shahana asks, "What's up with you, Prachi? You're way too cheerful today." Prachi, distractedly choosing a bright kurti, smiles dreamily. "Nothing happened!" she insists.

Suspicious, Shahana teases, "Prachi, you've been grinning non-stop since morning!" Realizing this, Prachi deflects, "So what? Smiling is good for health. It has lots of positive effects on the mind and body!"

"Prachi, stop avoiding me. Tell me what happened!" Shahana demands. Just then, Rishi arrives at the door. Prachi sighs in relief. "What is it, Rishi?" she asks.

Rishi, a bit nervous, hands Shahana a neatly wrapped box. Shahana opens it to find a pair of stunning peacock-shaped jhumkas. "Wow! Thank you, Rishi! They're beautiful!" Shahana exclaims, hugging him. Rishi smiles shyly.

Pragya and Sarita Behen enter the room. Pragya asks, "But today isn’t her birthday. Why the gift?"

"It's just a way of thanking her for her help yesterday," Rishi explains.

Prachi jokes, "Now even if you forget your lunch every day, Rishi, Shahana will make sure to bring it to you!" Sarita Behen adds mischievously, "Like a wife caring for her husband!"

Everyone freezes, and Shahana's smile fades into dejection as Pragya reflects silently on Sarita Behen’s earlier proposal.

Chapter 30

In the aftermath of Sarita Behen's remark pairing Shahana and Rishi, Pragya found herself lost in thought. Memories of Sarita Behen's earlier proposal for Shahana and Rishi resurfaced, leaving her uncertain. Rishi blushed, while Prachi nudged Shahana teasingly.

"Wow, Shahana! Even Sarita Auntie knows you're trying to impress Rishi!" Prachi giggled.

Shahana's smile faded as her mood shifted. "Prachi, I think we're getting late for college. Let's go get dressed," she said quietly and walked away.

Pragya, still pondering, thought to herself, "I need to know if Sarita Behen's proposal is truly right for Shahana. Prachi knows her best; she'll surely have some insights."

Pragya informed Sarita Behen and Rishi that Madhu had prepared their coffee. Once they left for breakfast, Pragya pulled Prachi aside.

"Prachi, I need your help with something important regarding Shahana," she said seriously.

"What is it, Ma?" Prachi asked, curious.

Pragya took a deep breath. "Sarita Behen has asked for Shahana's hand in marriage for Rishi."

"What?!" Prachi exclaimed in surprise.

"Lower your voice," Pragya cautioned. "Now tell me, do you think Shahana likes Rishi? Or... could there be someone else in her heart?"

Prachi considered it thoughtfully. "I don’t think Shahana has feelings for anyone else. If she did, I’d have known. Honestly, I believe she likes Rishi. She’s always trying to impress him. I think you should move forward with this proposal."

Pragya still seemed uneasy. "Even though Shahana isn’t my biological daughter, I’ve always loved her like my own. I think I should talk to her Beeji first. But Prachi, you're older than Shahana. Are you upset that I’m considering Shahana's marriage before yours?"

Prachi smiled warmly. "Ma, don’t I know you well enough? I know you’ll always do what’s best for your children. Besides, when the right time and the right person comes for me, you can plan my wedding too."

Pragya smiled, though her mind lingered anxiously on Priyanka and the molestation accusations against Rishi.

In Prachi and Shahana's Room

Shahana combed her hair while gazing absentmindedly into the mirror. Sarita Behen's words echoed in her mind. "Why did Sarita Auntie make such a comment? I don't want to think about anyone else except..." Her thoughts trailed off as Aryan’s face appeared vividly in her mind. Memories of her last moments with Aryan made her smile.

"Why do I feel this way whenever I think about him? Am I... in love?" Shahana mused, still smiling as thoughts of Aryan lingered.

Prachi entered the room and noticed her dreamy expression. "Oh ho! Still thinking about Sarita Auntie's words, huh?" she teased.

Shahana scowled. "Stop it, Prachi! I already told you—I agree Rishi is a good guy, but I don’t feel that way about him."

Prachi grinned mischievously. "Even I used to say the same thing about Ranbir..."

"What?!" Shahana's eyes widened. "That means you and Ranbir...?!"

Prachi slapped her forehead in mock frustration.

In Abhi's Guesthouse

"I heard the renovation of our houses after the fire accident is progressing well," Abhi said to Vikram. "Our family should be able to move back in soon."

"That's great news!" Purab chimed in. "We should throw a housewarming party before we move in."

"Oh, come on, Purab," Vikram groaned. "We’ve been hosting nonstop parties this year—birthdays, anniversaries, Ganpati puja, Diwali—and now you want a housewarming party before the New Year's bash?"

Beeji scolded him playfully. "Arrey ho kote, Vikram! You're just being stingy because you don’t want to spend money."

"No, Beeji," Vikram muttered. "It’s just that we’re already occupied with planning the fashion show event and the international concert at Ranbir's college. Adding a housewarming party would be too much."

Dasi intervened. "But Vikram, I believe a housewarming puja would be a good idea. After everything that happened this Diwali, we should perform a puja to ward off negativity."

"That's true," Pallavi agreed. "And Abhi should install a Durga Maa idol so that her blessings stay with us. But someone auspicious should perform the aarti."

Everyone exchanged curious glances, when Rhea’s voice suddenly rang out from behind.

"I think Mamma should do it," Rhea suggested confidently.

All eyes turned to her in surprise.

Chapter 31

Rhea's unexpected declaration took everyone by surprise. "Mamma should do the aarti for the housewarming puja," she said firmly.

Beeji, raising an eyebrow, asked curiously, "Whom do you mean by 'Mamma,' Rhea putar?"

Realizing her oversight, Rhea clarified, "Oh! I'm sorry, Beeji. I meant Prachi's mom. She's my 'Mamma'."

Abhi froze in shock, while Purab, Dasi, and Mitali exchanged knowing smiles. Meanwhile, Alia and Priyanka looked infuriated, and Meera's face fell with disappointment.

Pallavi, still confused, asked, "But Rhea, I thought you disliked Prachi?"

Rhea nodded, "I do. I can't stand her. But her mom... she's my inspiration, my guide, and in many ways, my god. The way she risked her life to save me during the fire, only a true mother could do that. She understands me like no one else. That's why I believe she should perform the aarti—she's the most auspicious person I can think of."

Abhi's eyes welled up. You hate your mother, believing she's a terrible person, yet you love and respect her so deeply without even knowing she's your mother. Fuggy, you're truly the best mother in the world, he thought.

Alia interrupted angrily, "Have you lost your mind, Rhea? This is a family function! How can you suggest someone outside the family for such an important role?"

"Aliyah!" Abhi's sharp tone cut her off. He paused, collecting himself.

Purab stepped in, "I think Prachi's mom is a perfect choice. She's done so much for our family already."

Vikram chimed in, "Absolutely! Anuradha ji is a wonderful person. Rhea's choice is fantastic."

Rhea beamed and left to have breakfast. On her way, she tapped Aryan's shoulder. "Go sit with Mishti; I want to sit with Ranbir."

Aryan glanced at Ranbir, who shook his head discreetly. But Aryan smirked, shrugged, and switched seats. Ranbir glared at him in frustration.

Meanwhile, Vikram leaned toward Abhi and whispered, "Rhea's already accepted Anuradha ji as her mother, while you've had a crush on her for ages. Why don't you two just start dating?"

Abhi, startled, stomped on Vikram's foot. Vikram yelped in pain.

"What happened?" Beeji asked, concerned.

"Nothing, Beeji," Vikram muttered, "Just hurt myself... talking about crushes."

"Crushes?" Pallavi's eyes widened. "Vikram, are you having a crush on someone?"

"No, no!" Vikram stammered. Looking to escape, he quickly added, "I was just talking about people in our office passing letters to their crushes through files."

Ranbir nearly choked, while Aryan gasped loudly.

"What now?" Ranbir asked Aryan, who excused himself in haste, dragging Mishti along with him. Alia watched Aryan closely, her mind swirling with suspicion. This Pragya is playing with my life again, she fumed. She’s already manipulated Rhea, and now I suspect her daughter is influencing Aryan too. I must act fast!

Meanwhile, Rhea turned to Ranbir. "Ranbir, would you like to have coffee with me this evening?"

"Sorry, Rhea," Ranbir replied curtly. "I already have plans with Aryan." He walked away, leaving Rhea disappointed.

At Pragya's house, in Prachi and Shahana's room

Shahana looked at Prachi suspiciously.

"Prachi, what did you just say? You and Ranbir?! Don't try to hide it from me! I've noticed you've been acting different since this morning."

Prachi sighed, realizing her slip-up. "Alright, alright! Calm down, Shahana. I'll tell you everything."

She recounted how Aryan had brought her a file the previous day—a file that contained Ranbir's heartfelt letter. By the time she finished, Shahana was practically bouncing with excitement.

"Oh, Prachi! I'm so happy for you! You've made the right choice in accepting Ranbir's love. I can't believe Rhea could stoop so low to plot against you. Mr. Mehra is such a kind man... but his daughter? A devil!"

Prachi smiled softly and began getting ready. "Now hurry up; Ranbir and Aryan are coming over to help me with the fashion show preparations. Don’t start fighting with Aryan today and spoil his mood. We need his help. Only with his support can Ranbir..." Her words trailed off as her face flushed pink.

"Oh ho!" Shahana teased. "The fashion show is just an excuse, isn’t it? The real reason is that you want to spend time with Ranbir!"

"Stop it, Shahana!" Prachi shot back, flustered, and rushed to the washroom.

Shahana smiled fondly. "I'm so glad to see you this happy, Prachi. And why would I fight with Aryan? Lately... I’ve started feeling good whenever I’m near him."
