As it's said Adversity makes strange bedfellows.

As for their mental state, one is getting a late spouse out of her physical and emotionalsystems and the other is getting an ex lover out of his system... . And though he has not been able to get charu out for five seven odd years my guess is samidha's emotional baggage currrently should weigh more than his simple beacause of the fact good marriages has that sanctity.

The whole world knows Avi is a jilted one... he's carried but also expressed that grouse for his close ones to see... he can more easily knock the weight off his shoulders now without the guilt.. but for her that weight is not the same ... she was jilted and jolted by God...

Avi is complex as well irrespective of how good he is with Sam... he's not simply the same man around his family... he's consumed by the success his brother has ... and his complaints against his brother cannot be taken at face value . His parents are made to forcibly grieve and sympathiize with him... by default so to say...

For his parents Avi coukd still be the pesky 5 year old kid with the infamous sibling rivalry

Ashu is bang on... Avi is the inscrutable one here

Very well written Kalpana, especially that part about forcing his parents to grieve and refusing to deal with the kid brother
Yes Avi does display a lot of immaturity there

Absolutely agree with you, Samidha was in a committed marriage that was cut short. There is no reason to hate or move on from her partner. But Avi on the other hand, is at a better position comparatively to move on after he got dumped.

But I wouldn't dismiss him completely about his other relationships - from his viewpoint, he is sour about the way his brother treats him. Even if ur younger brother doesn't respect you, it's only human to avoid or retaliate when he is dissed on things that is already not working out (love life and business)). He might react completely different if his brother continued to mind his own business. What say ?

On the same note, he wants his parents to let him be. He neither wants his mom to fix a date/alliance nor his dad to save his business. Yes, he is not your successful R&B. But he has his own phase/plan for his actions.

Can he handle it maturely and dioplamatically ? Probably yes. Again what if he is thinking, I don't have to be so proper at home/relatives. But displays that maturity with friends and builds a group of positive network around him.

He is intrigued and drawn to her - bcos she doesn't want more, she doesn't put him down about his business or past.

Point And very interesting perspective Jas. Agreed he has a more easy equation with Sam now and loves her company... she is seemingly filling the void that he has felt all these years.

But To reasonably expect his parents and brother to mind their business.. ...look the other way when he has wallowed in self pity and been digging a hole for himself... that's a no brainer...Ha ha ...

What's the brother's fault? Is it that he regularly visits his parents? Or is it that he's got a lid on both his personal and professional life? Don't siblings even younger ones advice the other to handle parents and other stuffwith more patience ! During the visits they discuss about Avi ? Ok agreed no one ideally wants Parents to be meddling when you are 30 something and also agreed that he takes the liberty to be grouchy with them. Also agree that Avi is definitely entitled to have his own space but I can't help think that he's been a little standoffish with his younger brother though

Hey Jas... LOL... on Your figurative point that yes he is not your successful R&B... well he never was my' R&B 😉 😆 ..

This is where we enter the fine line behind loving/concerned parents and helicopter parents.

Also I would prefer my brother (younger/older) to hear me out and discuss/suggest solutions if I have a problem, instead of snide commenting. That's where I see the difference. I'm not against the support but in way which it is provided makes a huge difference.

Rope

He returned from work around 4 PM a couple days later to get a plumbing leak in the kitchen fixed, not sure which friend had yanked the hand held faucet off its look tearing it from the base.

He could fix his own electrical stuff, but stayed away from plumbing and construction issues

As the guy worked Avyaan sat on the couch going through his email. Things were looking up only so slightly

The last couple months revenues were much higher than 60 days before that.

His Accountants had gotten him a couple tax credits for a certain food raw material that was on the govt subsidy list.

His thoughts kept flying back to Samidha

She had stayed after the fight, and looked like she was having a good time. Rumi had cornered him in the kitchen

"Kya ho raha hai? Finally Charu se aage duniya dikhni shuru ho gayi?

"Aisi baat nahi, Ive always had a good time with you guys

"Sure, par aadhe gusse mein na

"Not true

"Shes cute

"Oh? he was taken aback

"Tumhe nahi lagi?

He grinned

"Nah... I am dating her because she is none o that

"Chheee itne noble mat bano

"She has a certain fierceness to her he said gruffly

"Dating? Casual? Serious?

"It has to be something huh?

"Riyaz to hamey pooch rahe the if the things that are supposed to happen have happened or not

"I TOLD HIM Avyaan looked shocked

"To sirf MUJHE nahi kaha?

"Roomeee, aapko kehta to aap shaadi taq chali jaatin

"Aisi baat nahi hai, I can be cool and "with it too

He laughed, as he poured the gravy out into a serving bowl

"I am glad you are atleast thinking of a woman

"My parents think I am gay, you think ...

"I don't think... Avyaan its unhealthy to obsesses over a lost something for years

"Uve said that to me many times

"Finally it stuck

"Are u thinking of having her move in or are u moving in

"NO... None of that

"U want to try someone else?

He didn't answer

"U are just trying to mislead me

"I would never do that... why does it always have to go to moving in, seriousness, proposal and shaadi

"U want to keep it purely... umm

"Shaayad he said

"Chhod do Avyaan... itna pareshaan hona theek nahi, Charu doesn't deserve it Rumi was upset

"Its like she threw you a short rope and climbed out of a ditch, and u are stuck there with no hope of getting out

Uve never loved and lost he said all knowingly

"True Baat sahi hai, par hadh bhi hai

Toast snoozed by his feet

He heard water splashing in his sink

He hadn't searched up Charu in a while

He was slowly building the mental discipline not to do that, Ankit and Rumi were staunchly against everything Charu

He sometimes wondered if he really didn't love her anymore and just wanted to know/find out/see/ be told about her so he can shut the door on it

He got up and paced the living room

"Will you take me out to dinner? Neeru Singh texted

"Only if u are by yourself, and don't bring someone's eligible daughter

"Chalo, deal

He took his Mom to Mirza an Awadhi restaurant in GK Part I

He went to the restroom to wash up after dinner was ordered she walked out of the women's rest room

She had already seen him with his "female friend bent over the menu

His mother was in a kurti and jeans and her long silky hair in a rope like pony tail

Despite giving birth to a man of his size Neeru Singh was quite petite herself

"hi! he smiled

"Hi!

"Dinner? he asked

"Yes she nodded nervously

"With who? He asked

"Umm... someone I know she said cryptically he assumed Mervyn (or the guy from that Khan Market pub)

It was actually her Dad from Bangalore who was here for a flying visit and had insisted they go out to dinner

Mrs Mitra didn't allow any male relatives inside her house, even if it was the parent

"The weather finally cooled down she did some nervous chatter

"Yep

His mother turned to look for him her eyes searched, he did something close to ducking, or so she thought

"I have to go she said and walked back to her Dad's table unable to stop thinking about that woman at his table

She was around the corner from where he was with his Mom, they couldn't see each other, they were separated by the bar and the kitchen... When they drove to Mervyn's quarters at Cantt that night she kept thinking about the long silky pony tail

She had overheard a couple women talk about Charu's long hair that other night

It bothered her endlessly

Loved this chapter.

Well looks like not only is charu's short rope enough to get him nearly hanging, it's sure enough to wind around Sam's throat to her feeling a little choked already albeit a roped pony tail. Now here's a solid Hook never mind the hook up. Hah! Here comes the real deal Babe!! 😛

Also nice to Get Avi's stand on the status quo ... looks like he's testing the waters after having been badly burnt and bruised once. Fair enough!!

He's anyways mentally and physically at the end of the tether to set charu free. True Liberation #
