"This won't be much difficult for you, don't worry!" she said in a soft voice with a smile he dreaded.
"Aapke liye to achha hai! You have such a loving family always so concerned for you. You have hundreds of friends caring for you. Your numerous fans stand ready to cheer you, follow you always." She was saying in a dreamy tone.
"And last but not the least"
She paused for a moment
"you might have your uncertainty waiting to spend her entire lifetime with you!" She inhaled, closing her eyes for a moment.
"Aur aap!? What about you!?" He managed to ask, staring at her questioningly.
"Hum!?" She opened her eyes in reflex.
Well, even she didn't know what about her, as in an unsure moment she questioned back. Though she instantly covered it with a small smile, her blink of eyes didn't go out of his notice.
"What about me?" she looked away from his frown.
"I'll be fine, definitely!" She ensured as he sat holding his breath.
"Waqt lagega, but I'll manage well!" She added confidently "I'll do it for sure."

Sitting at the sea face, two souls stared through the sky reliving their journey so far together. The sun was turning lighter shade of orange while soft breeze tried to sooth their racing anxious hearts. They smiled at each other grateful. How elegant way to wind up lives, with understanding.
His eyes were shining as he stared in thumping silence, waiting for her to speak up. Today, he wanted to listen, listen to a heart he claimed as his. He thought he knew her inside out, but today the time proved him otherwise. May be this was the last chance, to leave all the pretense and let the other know of what their hearts felt.
"You are an angel. Aap hamari zindagi mein ek farishtey ki tarah aaye..." She started from the start when they first met each other as strangers, who bonded from the very instant.
"Your approaching aura, those mysterious eyes, your heart melting smile, those mischievous gestures... your ever so lively and optimistic attitude towards life and everything... were more than enough to calm my stranded, confounded, protected heart, surrounded by so many complexities and uncertainties"
She looked at distance where wind caused ripples in the sea water, living through the moments that flashed in her thoughts in a series, entering cool, smart and serious looking Pratap Singh, flaunting his ever so gifted possession to spread smile. He actually was nothing less than an angel, like she said.
"I had halted" Even her faint smile shone with the water.
"I just wanted a break. But as time passed, I found it a little hard to fly back again. I had everything!" She let out a chuckle as he slightly frowned.
"Everything... to please me, to entertain me, to play with me, to bring me on! But maybe I needed someone! To be with me, to listen to me, to walk with me, to wish with me, to fight with me...Overall...Someone...To love me!!" Her eyes twinkled with every word she said.
"You know, I had started losing my hope. On me. It seemed I wasn't destined to be understood, or be cared for that matter. I started to shrink in, to sulk in."
His smile faded at her distant eyes. Her smile made him a little tensed. The turbulence of sea waves flashed on her face, swirling those slept emotions again. He had seen her aloof. She used to seem confused, clouded rather irked. He thought her to be tired but he had no idea of what emotional emptiness she was feeling all that while.
"But there you came! Totally uninvited!" She giggled, taking him by surprise.
Ajabde Punwar was a unique soul. Beautifully matured young lady, with a pure heart of a child. She was a pleasure of an unpredictable wind, you don't come across everyday.
"I still wonder, how easily and effortlessly you entered my highly reserved, superbly secured, personal me zone and claimed a permanent seat in my space!" She exclaimed amused as he too giggled, raising collar of his T-shirt.
"We talked together, walked together, sang, laughed, danced, ate together. Had so much of fun together!" They both had a genuine content smile, as they cherished their some of the best moments together.
They had shared almost everything. Right from their likes to their awkward dislikes, their happiest occasions to their weakest moments. They shared their thoughts, feelings, dreams, ideologies to their ultimate target of life. They often read each other some poems, stories or lines... These were so handy to know the other's mood and mind. Will it be any wrong, if they had wanted to share their lives too!?
"I bet, I lived my happiest time with you!" She placed her hand on his cold one.
It definitely wasn't he never heard her before, but her way of words were so enchanting that one would want to keep on listening to her. He smiled brightest reflecting his happiness too. He stared at her waiting, as she continued.
"Slowly and progressively, you filled in the place in my heart, which unknowingly felt abandoned before! Our friendship grew stronger. Well, I exactly don't even know, when actually we became friends!" She chuckled to herself.
"But our bond was so instant and pure that I felt connected since ages."
"So did I!" He mouthed, smiling.
"How can anyone make you feel so special!? I felt so like me! I had never expected in my dream that anyone could reach out to me, asking for my hand! You doing that, was out of question!" She looked shy while paleness swept across his face for a moment, even now.
"I was unbelievably speechless, when you asked, whether I can accept you as my future uncertainty for life!?" She looked down at his lingering smile.
"And you enlightened me with your trailer ideas of friendship and relationship for hours, but didn't answer a simple question!" He shook his head reminiscing the incident. "My heart skipped beats in mere a thought of losing you!" He breathed out.
"It takes time to accept the unexpected..." She pouted like a kid, hiding her face in her palms.
"Achha!?" He caught her hand, clearing view of her face.
"Yup!" She said, her cheeks turning pink.
"But...The day you first held my hand for the first time, I felt what true content feel like!" She looked at his hand holding hers. "How well those two perfectly fit in together! I wondered how comfortable it would be in your arms as well!" She winked at him, laughing a bit at her silly thoughts, as he joined in.
"I ditched so many lines as they fell short for you. I scribbled pages, just to find perfect words that I can put to describe you, to tell you what do you mean to me, how complete I feel with you, to convey my feelings...!" He scratched the back of his head, looking down.
"I was so afraid, what if I hurt you!? What if you stop talking to me!?" She shook her head, as he exhaled with a brief smile.
"I've never looked back since then. You were the perfect answer for the perfect idea of a partner, I had in my platonic world! Though I am not a perfect dreamer, with holding your hand, I could walk practically in a dreamland." She said in a trance, waiving her hand dramatically, as her eyes glimmered in a heavenly smile.
"My mind flourished" He smiled back.
"My mann flied" she joined in.
"My heart got filled with happiness" He held her other hand.
"My soul was satisfied with your joyous lines and warm words. My world felt residing in your homely hugs. I had found someone, My One!" She blushed hard as even his cheeks heated. Such was the beauty of their bond, they could complete what other wanted to say.
"I didn't realise when my emotions got upgraded and I felt my friend, my best friend, to be my soulmate and wondered, if he can be my life partner!" She looked sideways blushing, unable to meet his gaze.
He turned her face to look at him, as eyes smiled blissful.
"Anjaan the sapne, anjaani kadi thi;
Anjaani raahein, ankahee ladi thi,
Zindagi mein aa ke, aap zindagi ban gaye
Shubh hua Mann, kya khub ghadi thi..!!"
Getting the perks of being artists, they could be the perfect listeners or fabulous speakers or wonderful writers. They weren't unaware of the situations at the instant, but they let them strengthen themselves rerunning all the beautiful memories of their lives, together!
Not caring for the society norms, they felt and behaved like their better halves with each other. In their small world, they had became one. One by heart, one by their soul. They so wished the time to just stop there and let them live the life full of love, trust and happiness.
Without disclosing their relationship to anyone, they started to live as partners in heart. They danced in joy to their achievements, consoled their unknown heaviness with charm of togetherness. They spent time having fun or just sat in each other's arms, feeling the heartwarming silences.
*
Days passed and their small world started to get smaller. With their sacred secret adjoined lives, it became a bit complicated to spend their quality time with each other, protecting and keeping others' eyes off their relationship.
He worked hard to earn enough handsome amount to support his family as well these two. They did respect their spaces, but he started to be too engrossed in his life, to earn, to help it make it fun, that he started to miss her unique, innocent chats he used to have at the end of the day.
His family was totally clueless of Pratap feeling emotionally surrendered to someone for life. Unaware of their son's acceptance to this unknown feelings, what if they had some other plans in mind!? He didn't find any time appropriate to let her introduce to his family. Though he was sure, they would love her, he couldn't speak in front of them.
This side, her parents had started searching groom for Ajabde. Until she get a signal from him, she couldn't say a word. How could she ask to spend her life with a guy, who is not being able to reveal their relation to his parents, lest the society!
Though their kinship didn't depend upon the societal approvals, they wished to tie themselves in nuptials to claim each other in front of everyone as well. Their lives had became like a game of hide and seek, which had started to take a toll.
Amidst all this time play, Pratap since few days had started distancing himself, even from her. Neither he talked much nor let her speak anything. She knew he was stressed with this uncertainty and all, though he didn't show it. He won't take any help.
It disturbed her as well. She wanted to sooth him, to hold his hand and tell him, everything will fall in place. But, he didn't allow her to even come near the topic, lest him!
Their small world of Platonism started to fade away. The practicality dawned upon harshly. She was well aware, how he worshiped his parents and she respected that. She loved her parents like that too. She found it cute, as he called her mother Ranima. And she was sure as well, he will never raise a word against his Ranima's wish, even if that killed his inside, his face will smile only, only for them.
His parents loved him like any other parents, who wished for his happiness only. But call it destiny or anything else, they were unaware, of where their son's heart lied. If his parents were his heart, someone had became his breath too!
They couldn't see their parents hurt. That would also mean, he could move back to his hometown, anytime! Away from this world, from her! Without a word. This could be the fact, he backed off. To let her brace herself and stand in any case, with...or without him!
With time, their fantasy had gone to rest. They hardly wrote anything now, nor had they time to read out anything to the other. He was distant, blocking his true feelings, showing how much he enjoyed his free life without any boundation, with the people and work around him. It looked; he was trying to set an example to move on.
Whereas Ajab badly failed at it. Though she tried to apply the switch on - switch off technique, she wasn't any near to Pratap, who had mastered it. Whenever they had their regular compact chat, he always asked her to accept whatever life gives and have faith in god, staying strong. She found to have his positivity at a miss.
*
Some days later, Ajabde got the news of his parents giving Pratap details of a prospective bride, he should meet once. She knew he'd accept whatever Ranima would ask, with closed eyes. Though he tried to avoid it, but now it didn't shake her. She was getting numb, unknown to her whether there were anyone else also, with whom he had such a pure bond flourishing silently between those two or them.
She couldn't ask him, he won't talk. It was as if he had created an artificial transparent wall between them. Though she trusted him well, but the recent happenings didn't support her faith more. These all made her feel stranded. Hopeful, she tried to stick on, but her alone, possessive and hurt side made her have some tough thoughts.
Alone, she sat on their regular hill top. Going through her notifications, a line caught her attention :
'Kitna mushkil hai usse manana,
Jo rutha bhi na ho...
Aur baat bhi na kare...!'
How apt, she thought. She smiled dry as a lone tear escaped her eyes. They did talk, but it felt more like strangers. She could feel, he was holding something, but his blank and continuous cold behavior, made her drop the idea to make him talk. They did try to have some fun like always, but his efforts felt empty from within.
This sudden unwanted awkwardness was suffocating Ajabde from inside. She could see him in front of her, still it felt lonely. All thanks to the reality check, Pratap seemed happy this way and all set to move on. But despite of genuine efforts, Ajab felt strangled in this situationship, alone!
So, to try one last time, with some bleak rehearsals and strong determination, she decided to ask him straight forward, what was bothering him!? He got caught off guard, as he didn't expect his fragile, emotional Ajabde to confront him as such!
Prem mein zabardasti nahi hoti...!
She inferred, maybe he was tired and may want to get off from this situationship, so she harden herself enough to let him go. Though she couldn't concede him drifting away like this, but her heart was assertive and she firmly believed,
"Jo aaj hai, abhi hai, woh sanjo le mann;
Woh tumhara nahi, jo na laut kar aaye..."
She never thought, she would have to live the lines, she once wrote innocently. She decided to accept her destiny and not come in his way, if he wanted to go. If he returned back, he was hers. Else, she was ready to set him free.

"This won't be much difficult for you, don't worry!" she finally said it in a soft voice with a smile he dreaded.
"Aapke liye to achha hai! You have Ranima, such a loving family always so concerned for you. You have hundreds of friends caring for you. Your numerous fans stand ready to cheer you, follow you always." She was saying in a dreamy tone.
"And last but not the least" She paused for a moment "you might have your uncertainty waiting to spend her entire lifetime with you!" She inhaled, closing her eyes for a second.
"I'll be fine, definitely!" She said firmly, in a matter of fact way.
Though she still was rather ensuring herself than him. 'It's not easy to even stay away from you, spending whole life without you...would be more challenging' she whispered in her mind.
"Waqt lagega, but I'll manage well!" She added confidently "I'll do it for sure."
Her voice void of hope and this unknown calm stiffness in her eyes shattered him. He had expected her to be hurt, to be angry. He was ready for her complaints, fight. He was ready to take any blames on him.
But she losing hope on him, on his love, he never ever thought in his wildest of dreams. He knew how much he cared, how much he longed, for her. But her blank eyes and faint smile, refuted him to the core. Now he couldn't keep mum, his rest of the life could be on stake.
"Not difficult for me!? Not easy for you!? When did this You and Me came between us!? Wasn't it We always!??" He asked wide eyed still thinking what she said.
"Agar aap hi sath na ho, to itne sare logo ka main kya karoonga? Who knows me better than you?" His voice quivered. "What do you think, hume koi fark nahi padta!!?" He almost choked looking at the other side. She gulped, not expecting him to behave like this.
"Do you even have any idea, how many nights I couldn't sleep, for just a fear of losing you! Aapke aate chale jaana, aap ko online dekh ke offline ho jaana...bilkul aasan nahi hai. Aap nahi jaante how I controlled myself all this while." His eyes welled up as his lips trembled. She tried to inhale, suddenly feeling suffocated by the free air there.
"It's you and only you Ajab! You are mine! My only one! You are the first and last person on this earth, I feel totally surrendered for. And you know that." He stared straight in her eyes as silently tears rolled down her eyes without warning.
"This wasn't for anyone else ever and can never become. No one can make me feel complete, the way you do! You are lifeline Ajab! My home!" His wet smile made her skip a beat as her mind went on ride.
"I knew, you would be hurt, without having me the usual self, but the pain would have been less than you would bear with me!" His voice had the pain he would have gone through by staying away from her. It ached her heart as well. How much he missed her, her talks! It hurt to see her go silent, so he continued
"Don't you trust me? You know my feelings for you. Aap hi to hume sab se zyada samajte hai... Aur Aap hi hume chhod ke chale gaye... To hum kya karenge!? Kaise jiyenge!? Kabhi socha bhi hai!?" His tears were piercing. She had seen so many moods of his, but this one was vulnerable. How can anyone be even upset from these eyes, who talked more than his words!?
"Itna hi jaana hume, ke kuch aur hi sochne lage..?" Her eyes flew freely as he held her hands in his.
"Haan, I know, I was wrong... Maine galat kiya" He breathed heavy.
"Bilkul galat" She sniffled, looking down. He looked up, smiling a small, hopeful smile as she relented.
"Yup, bilkul galat kiya! Kuch dino se, main jaan buj kar aapse baat kam karta tha and all" He sounded restless. "But isme aapki hi galti hai" Saying this seriously, he made a face.
"Hein?!!" She looked up surprised.
"Aur nahi to kya!? Kaisi aadat laga rakhi hai hume, hum sab kuch keh dete hai aapse!" He frowned. "Fir aapko tension ho jaati hai, na jaane kaise, kya khayal aane lagte hai... Hum aapse na kuch chhupa sakte hai, na hi juth bol sakte hai." He shook his head.
"Aap hamari aadat ban gaye hai, Ajab! So your side I can understand. To ab aapko inn sab struggles and pareshaniyon se door rakhne ke liye kya karte hum, bataiye..!?"
"May be my way was wrong, but my intentions were never wrong Ajab!" His voice lowered as his face fell. That hurts! **
"Pratap!" She only could whisper, wiping his tear with her thumb.
"I'm not a commitment phobic Ajabde." He tightened his grip on her hand.
"I wanted to give you the dignified life you deserve. And I wasn't prepared for it then. Financials do matter yaar! What if, agar main aapko khush na rakh paaya!? Kis mooh se mein aapke parents ko face bhi karta, hm?"
"My happiness lies with you! Wherever you are! However you are!" She stared back softly in his hazel brown eyes.
"I've really worked so so hard to make and prove myself something in front of both our parents." He went on "And see I am almost around. Such a dedicated performance, earned me promotion to managing level. Ab job ka koi tension nahi hoga. I've seen the property around, you'll love it. We'll have our own house!" He was saying in a go as his eyes shone with excitement of the small kid.
"That would be your house na..? With your efforts, alone! I haven't been of any help!" She found her voice. Raising an eyebrow, she looked away.
"I can never be alone Ajab, so can't you! Apan mann se jude hai!" He smiled sweetly, pecking back of her hand.
"Aapko sab akele karna hota hai. Agar kisi se problems share kar lenge, to kya hoga? Woh kam ho jaayenge kya...!? To achha hai na...!!??" And the stubborn Ajabde was back. And he so loved her this way.
"Haha!" He put his hand around her shoulder, pulling her to him. He tried to make her face him, but she didn't turn, still looking away.
"Life ke har phase mein sath rehne ka hakk hai hume! But nahi! Aapko to bas one man show karna hai! Hum sirf sukho ke sathi nahi hai Pratap!" She turned frowning "Musibato mein aap humse pichha nahi chhuda sakte, samje!?" pointing at him straightly. He stared at her amused and held her hand, pecking her palm gently.
"Ghar maine banaya hai, ghar ko basaaiye aap!
Aapke aur mere pyaar se, usse sajaaiye aap!
Khushiyaan saari bahar darwaaze pe khadi hai,
Aapke sath hi aayegi, pehle ghar aaiye aap..!!!"
He said in a soft husky voice, making her heart to flatter. She hugged him in an impulse, not controlling anymore. He hugged back tightly, never to let go.
As if the waves danced with happiness to see them together, it rose high, drenching them with love. All their uncertainty, unknown insecurity or perplexing emotions, washed out. Fighting for other's worries and leaving their destiny to peace, they found the content and purity their relationship had in base.
"Don't be this silent, one man army again." She looked up "I'm here!" She pouted, still in his embrace.
"Naah..! Bahot lad liya akele, ab sath mein udenge!" He tightened his grip around her.
"We can finalize the property deal soon. We will convince them, Ranima and papa will also come in here with us. In working seasons, we will stay here. Baaki ka time waha gaav mein aaram se maze karenge. Charo parents and apan! Sab sath mein rahenge." His eyes sparkled. She smiled. A content one.
"Aap bas hath thaame rakhna, you are my strength Ajab! Aap sath hai, to we'll talk to our parents for us. Woh maan jaayenge na!?" He asked cutely, his eyes the most innocent ones. She nodded affirmative resting her hand on his chest.
"Hath pakad ke jaayenge sab ke samne." He put his hand on hers "I'm sure, they will bless us." He smiled gleeful.
"Sare parents aapas mein apne rishtey ki baat bhi kar lenge" They chuckled as she hid her face in his chest, blushing.
They sat like that for some time, filling their heart with each other's warmth. Sun slipped to rest, in the lap of the sea, as love in the air soothed the soul mates.
"Our family will be complete Ajab!" He lightly pressed lips on her forehead "Just the way... "
"You complete Me!" They smiled in unison.
