Poor Chandu!!! He must have really missed his Massi.😭
Ah the joys of having kids at home during the summer...the best and the worst time for all parents!😆

Lakshmi Vaidya sounds like my grandmother-cooking bakshanams for the grandkids during the summer. Though when she got older my Paati got smart-we used to get only rava ladu and pori urundai. I think she was too fed up with us kids to make anything else. 😃

Hello Vakil Saab--you are seriously having your cake and eating it too...let's hope your naive wife doesn't develop any teeth soon...😆

You have no idea Nisha. One of my relatives (who shall remain unnamed) used to eat all the gulab jamun my Paati would make. Apparently, she would make like a hundred of them (for the whole family), and this person (who I feel is more related to S V Ranga Rao than to me) used to eat about half of that in no time flat. By the time I was born and was old enough to chow down, my Paati stuck to rava ladu and pori urundai. 😆

The level of assimilationthat's required from Teeku seems a daunting one though her sisters in law have assimilated wonderfully well .

Kalpana

The reason why the other DILs seem fine with the family and its ways is because, they entered the marriage for the MAN they married. Also neither are from such an affluent family, neither lived in Delhi by themselves

Teeku has all that stacked against her

She went into the marriage because of a shiny object called Chandu, now she has found another shiny object called Harit

I guess when it comes to her new shiny object, she is just looking at the surface shine now . The problem here is these shiny objects are sitting atop a tree in which the bird is not able to perch on its branches to make her nest there. Is it the tree's shortcoming or the bird's shortcoming? May be it's a compatibility issue between the tree and the bird! Can't hv the cake and eat it too😊

London bridge

"Humne apne aadmi ko keh diye hain, aapko baar baar koi chance to dega nahi Harit was exasperated

He wandered his room adjusting his wireless ear piece repeatedly

He gulped down the boiling hot tee and stared at a rafting scrape on his left wrist

Thumbing it absentmindedly as he yelled into the phone

The room was roasting hot and muggy, it was atleast 44C outside, the room felt like 49C

"Nahi... nahi... ruken "Nahi... hum abhi baat nahi karenge he did a face palm sighing

The defendant's mother put her son on the phone

"Umm... Rajeshji, aapse humne 4 baar jo baat kahi wohi aapki ma se hame hain he yelled

He listened impatiently, and sat down on the wire spun sofa

"Hum sun chukey hain, aap please unke ghar jaayen nahi, duniya mein aur companies hain, cease and desist ka matlab bhi samjhayen hain aapko, ab ki baar jail hui to hum nahi bacha paayenge he yelled

The mother came on as the boy had a melt down

"Auntyji, aapne hamare permission... matlab anumati se pehle apne bete ko phone de deen hain, unko kahen Anju keg har nahi jaayenge, Anju ke papa se kaam nahi maangenge, unki ghar ki gali mein apni cycle nahi chalayenge Harit held his breath and spoke for a few more minutes and hung up more frustrated than he was at the beginning of the call

He threw his ear piece on the seat by him and rubbed his eyes and stretched

Rishu called

"Shaam ko Yashu ko cricket camp lekar ja rahe hain hum, agar aapko bowling coach ban nah ai to samay se pahunchen aap

"Jee bhayya he sat up

"Ghar nahi gaye aaj khaane par? Ma dukhin hain

"Kaise jaate, hafte bhar ke case ke paper they. 17 cases hain

"Muft ki madad band karen pehle

"Umm...

"Ma ko samjhayen, Rishu insisted

"Arey Ma hamey nahi rok rahin

"To?

"Umm.. hum in logon ko yoon besahara kaise chhod dein?

"Ghar par bacha hai, biwi hai, han beshaq aapka apna nahi bacha, phir..

"Bhayya, Chandu to hamare hain he said gruffly

"Biwi?

Harit laughed out loud

"bhayya, honeymoon ka nasha utrega Avantika ka to bahut peetengi aapko Rishu chuckled

"Hamey dard mein dekhenge iska matlab? Harit smiled

"Bhayya Ma ki haalat kharab hogi agar aapko chot lagegi... aur who bhi biwi ke haathon Rishu hung up

Harit groaned and stretched... began to snooze

He had no idea how he had gotten himself into this situation

Not a topper but he was definitely in the top 20% of his graduating class

There were many offers from leading law firms. Multinationals wanted to hire him for the specificity of his area of study

Not to mention hiring bonus and stock and London flats and to and fro tickets to India

He was too far away now, from that affluence and comfort, the separation to vast to be spanned

He opened his eyes and stared at the achingly sick ceiling fan

Sweat flowed in rivulets inside his shirt.

He searched for his towel, it was far away on his desk

He shared that crummy office with two other lawyers now, a woman and a man

The woman had taken over placing cheap art objects all over, and shelves of books and journals and pictures of everyone from Gandhi to Presidents

He realized a woman lawyer was a tough sell in UP

Criminal men were almost all uncivilized, sexist and mysogynists . The other male lawyer certainly was

He cracked many inappropriate jokes about Ms Kansal's monthly cycles and correlated her failure rate to her lack of looks

Harit groaned again rubbing his eyes

He was only on his 4th case and it was already 5 PM...

He sat up playing with a ball point pen, clicking and unclicking as his mind wandered

He saw a shadow by the door

He looked up, his wife stood at the door like she was the answer to all his miseries

"You are kidding he gasped hoisting himself

She looked like a dream in pale sky blue kurta and pink palazzos, both voile, like her Dad had commissioned some exclusive design house to craft these for his daughter for months

Chandu peeked from behind the soiled curtain

"I am glad aap akeli aayin he teased

"I AM HERE Chandu shouted

He bend down and picked the kid up and tossed him

"Oh no... aapko kisne bulaya he laughed as he played with the kid

"Kya kar rahe they aap? Teeku questioned

"Umm... soch rahe the ki baaqi ke 13 cases kaise padhenge aaj he sighed setting the kid down as he ran toward Harit's phone

"Hum padhte hain, aap sunen she grinned picking up a dusty stack bound by a cord

I don't think this place can handle someone gorgeous as yourself he muttered

He was afraid to even close the gap

She leaned on his desk and waited...

"Harit?? she begged ogling him desite his grimy appearance

"Aap dekh bhi rahin hain hamey? he asked baffled
