Enough is not enough

She found him chatting with another "honeymoon couple overlooking the river in a beautiful balcony setting

He extended his arm so she could walk towards it

"Hi! Avantika he greeted her warmly with no sign of tension.

She looked stunning in a pistachio green flowy voile kurta and a lemon yellow palazzo. Her hair tied in a chignon

"Such a beautiful name the girl announced, the couple not on a honeymoon exactly, just on a extended temple trip on family's request

"thanks "Waise hamara naam Teeku hai, Harit kabhi Teeku nahi kehte she dissed her husband

Harit enveloped her body with his, going behind her wrapping his arms around her belly

"Teeku Harit chuckled

"I can guess why the man laughed

The men shared a unspoken joke

The guy was Ritesh and the girl Tanya, they ate dinner with them and shared a few glasses of wine and talked about their families

The couple lived in Antwerp, Ritesh's family from Gujarat, in diamond trade

"You must come to Antwerp Tania invited

"Yeh gayin hongi, hum nahi dekhe kabhi Harit informed

"How do u like living in a joint family? "How is it to move from Delhi to Bareilly

"Does she miss wearing jeans

Avantika got many questions.

Harit noticed how she was confident and and not ashamed to talk about the transition while being open about what she found hard to assimilate to

When the couple left around midnight

"Chalen waapis, ya ghoomne jaayengi? he asked

"Tum chhod diye aap? she asked pushing the halwa on her plate around aimlessly

"nahi... sorry, I was just in the mode of speaking to company he laughed and held her hand

"Hamey laga naraaz hain

"Avantika, I don't think I thanked u for giving it all up to live in Bareilly he said eating the dessert off her plate

"Umm.. hum soche nahi zyaada

"U are very matter of fact and don't any grudges I notice he said awkwardly

"Do u hold grudges?

"I would have if I were in your shoes. I hated you for holding on to Chandu for two years he gulped his wine

"That's nice she chuckled nervously

He picked up her hand kissed her fingers with wine drenched lips

"Tum gusse mein sarcastic ho jaati ho he growled mischievously

She pulled her hand away, he gripped it tighter

"Aap abhi bhi gussa hain? she asked thoughtfully

"No... umm... NOOO... heck no he rambled

"Chandu ke toys she began

He raised a finger

"Let me finish she whispered softly

He nodded a lil wearily

"Will you be OK if I paid for the shipping? she offered

His eyes sparkled with admiration

"You love him so much you would spend 20 grand on things just like that? he snapped his fingers

"I don't know what I feel for him she said looking at her plate as she scooped halwa with fork held in her left hand

"Avantika, I am not wealthy he said quietly

She didn't care, she was smitten

"Avantika he prodded

"I don't want to be rich" she claimed like a leading lady in a movie😆

He smiled at the implication😃

"You are pretty naive" he growled

"Hum naive nahi hain, I don't care for money" she lied

"I wont believe that, but wont argue either... for now " he exhaled audibly

"Harit why cant I spend?"

"Because, it's a joint family, and all decisions are collective, no kid gets a Rs. 20k privilege without the adults knowing

"Umm... har baat? she bristled

"Yep... I get it... I sense the frustration you felt when you were candid with Tanya he muttered

The waiter refilled their wine

"Bauji makes enough to feed the family three times our size, the home is ancestral, much of the grains and produce comes from farm the family owns. He spoke softly

"Hamey kuch nahi chahiye Harit

"I interned at a law firm many months during school, I have most of it saved up, I spend that on trips and my clothes

"then u have enough to bring the toys? she was shocked

"But I am still a pro bono lawyer that works for free he reminded her why he cannot be frivolous

chalo, at least they are talking. some progress. I find Harit to be themes complicated of all Nishas characters. jitney upar, uses double neeche. I think he's here doing pro bono work only for laccho and bauji...it seems as if with hemants loss the very foundation of the family has shaken and Harit wants to ensure some stability by being there. but for how long?

Yes you are right, he is adrift now
He would have stayed in UK if Hemant was alive today

Lovely update Nisha. I am so happy they discussed their finances. I am also really happy that Harit knew Teeku was bsing when she said she didn't need to be rich, etc. The reality is that she is and was well off-didn't need to marry to become rich. He is rich from his family wealth but his own funds are not sufficient to maintain a household.
In the long run, how can Harit and Teeku continue to live like this? Any man with a wife (and he wants to start a family) will want to give her and their kids things-not ask his mom or dad for support. I am concerned that even if Harit and Teeku are aware of the pitfalls - the elders in the family are not considering all the issues carefully.

Everyone was selfish

Teeku because she wanted to live with Chandu for ever

Harit because he wanted to see a smile on his Mom's face, Avantika is gorgeous, so why not

Vaidyas: Chandu finally comes "home"

Guptas: the unspoken stigma associated with their accomplished daughter raising a child in Delhi while unmarried is no longer a issue.

Lakshmi: Her youngest finally gets married, and she gets to see her grandson everyday.

Only Chandu was honest he wanted no part in it

Hope he doesn't make Avantika suffer too for Hemant's death.
Avantika is doing best in memory of the deceased by giving unconditional love to Chandu.
I don't think Harit himself also is clear what he wants. I guess changing course of your life should be done if you strongly believe in it not a penance. Hemant hasn't lost his life coz of something Harit did, I guess for him to repent.
He wants "some" kids. How do you plan to take care of them?
Avantika propose to him that you can work too and find something to do to keep some sanity to live happily with this man.
